The Project Girls pt. 4 - Teset Seima
Awkward, shy, and incredibly soft-spoken, Teset is a colony kid with big dreams. Growing up in rural farmlands on the edge of the traverse, Teset always loved to run and lose herself in fantasies of adventure among the stars.
Another gorgeous commission drawn by the always amazing @luckyspacerabbit who knocked it out of the park yet again 💕

I don't know how to even start this post so im just gonna-
I LOVE ECLIPSE AND I MISS HIM.
He's such a gem of a character that gets used in ONE arc. He's only in TWO of the four-part stories. and...
he completely stole my heart. They had the audacity to write him so tragically and then give him some GOLDEN lines. He and Shadow having banter, and some of the remarks he makes are just great too. He's so funny and I love him.
If you haven't read Shadow Fall and Total Eclipse from Sonic Universe, and you're a fan of Shadow and his backstory and the Black Arms stuff like I am PLEASE READ THEM! Shadow Fall starts at issue 59 and Total Eclipse starts at 67.
I'm going to be making a spoiler follow up post because my passion is analysing Eclipse and his comics and his story. or I'll make a bunch of posts about it because I have a lot to say.

You know how Gary has body dysmorphia. Do you think he was a chubby or skinny kid before the muscles?
Damn anon, I didn’t really think about this one
Well, I’m sure this will be more of an opinion than anything because canon-wise, Fusebox nor their writers at the time ever mentioned this part of Gary’s backstory. However, based off what I’ve seen in the game, he’s always been proactive of keeping the image of being the bigger guy - you know, having bigger muscles. Even when the MC compliments Gary and tells him that he’s getting bigger, our golden gorilla seems so proud that she noticed and mentions that he’s been working hard on that.
There’s one scene where he’s alone at the pool and he’s poking on his bicep because he wants to look massive. And this makes me think that he was once a very thin little boy. And that’s not to discredit the theory of Gary perhaps being a chubby kid but, considering how he reacts to his body dysmorphia, he openly tells the MC that he chases that bulky muscly frame. Somehow, Gary probably feels mentally powerful and confident and that’s why he’s always flexing and working out.
I can only imagine that Gary is healing his inner child, who at the time, got bullied at school and at his football practices. He’s not even a tallish guy so there’s a likely chance that he was not only a thin kid but a shorter one compared to other boys. So with that being said, Gary was aware that there was no way to defend himself and suffered of low self-esteem. Bullies surely noticed that Gary was an easy target.
This is where the gym definitely was the start of his character development. But the consequence is the body dysmorphia. Despite Gary visibly looking bigger and stronger, he is afraid of looking weak and thin again.
So overall, I genuinely believe that Gary was a pretty thin boy 🥹 he’s come so far.
Thanks so much for the ask, anon! Such a good discussion 💛

my very strong philosophy that i need to perceive my characters as real people in order to feel like i can write them at the depth a novel needs + i try to see expand my view of them as far as possible so they have a life an existence that a novel only snapshots a part of + this being a big part of my writers identity bc my relationship with my characters is very important to me is still very real but also very funny now because i've realised when it comes to short fiction i do not give a fuck like that. like i put everything into my characters bc i think making complex characters/relationships is my best skill but they are nothing but names to me (and i barely name my protagonists cause i just dont give a fuck if its not needed) and shadows reflecting an idea i thought was cool. like the way with novels i'll say felix and beau and dorothy are my best friends and they've just granted me access to their stories and i can't imagine how i'd go through life without thinking about them and their lives...then with short fiction the characters are just dolls that i throw out once i'm done with them
