Hi radio love
Pick one (or a few) ocs and describe a typical outfit. And, of you're feeling fancy, a nicer outfit for some event. Reference photos are optional.
hi sleepy! thanks for the ask!!!
you just triggered an unskippable cutscene im so sorry (i'm trying to finish my sketchbook and used this as an opportunity to fill some pages so. yeah)
púlsar:
Tumblr media
before púlsar, ira used to wear a once white short tunic and pants. once she's captured and working for the khadae, she gets to wear the imitator uniform: a tight sleeveless tunic with dark pants and leather boots. usually it's white with the golden details at the neck to distinct rank, but ira (and most characters) wear blue because they are technically under karma. imitators also wear a cloth from where imitations hang, but ira refuses to wear it (usually it's worn around the neck and chest, áine wears it tied around her waist)
as for karma and sher, they wear the Important Person Tunic (members and nobles wear them, except for the khadae because imitator). for the first half of the novel they wear black tunics (their mom just died), but then change into their colors. sher also wears some gold chains because he's extra like that. (the fancier outfit is basically more chains and imitations hanging as well as a thin crown)
i also drew some modern au ira and karma! both wear comfortable clothing. ira usually layers stuff too (bonus cat she found in the trash)
Untitled Project:
Tumblr media
in UP everyone also wears the same clothing, mostly. hannah is a priestess and akira and lyric are soldiers, so they wear the mandatory church uniform: a very basic white tunic, tied high at the waist, and sandals. ely wears similar clothing under their cremator robe they stole (they are usually on battlefields after the battle and disguise themselves with it).
because hannah is a priestess she also gets silver chains hanging from her waist, as well as a crown in ceremonies. when lyric and akira are training or fighting, they tuck the tunic inside their pants, and tie a cloth around their waist to keep it secure (the monsters they have to fight have very long, sharp, scythe like arms and cloth could catch on them)
lyric also gets a messiah outfit, which is the same basic tunic with the red cloth across his chest and waist, as well as chains like the priests and a crown
i also drew some modern au because ages ago i found a hoodie that said "hell was boring" and gave it to ely. lyric also has a collection of goofy shirts (he also has trouble finding pants that fit so usually wears shorts). hannah and akira are crop top besties and often compete to see who can dress the sluttiest
project:nemesis
Tumblr media
the color coded kiddos i love them
enzo usually wears a long sleeved undershirt with a t-shirt on top. he also has red accessories, which are kind of plot symbolic because it's ástral's color as well as caesars (and marte. because he's an ástral fanboy).
ceres wears tight short crop tops with hoodies on top. purple's her color (or turquoise). also ripped black jeans and combat boots.
marte's also a ripped jeans and combat boots kinda dude. his t-shirts are all ruined because he paints, but he doesn't care much. he's also a long sleeved undershirt boy
finally there's sirio who has a rainbow t-shirt closet (but usually wears green), as well as funny shirts he's made marte make for him. he always wears shorts and his binder

It was almost 7pm on Saturday and I was almost ready to go meet Tom before we went to the party. I had put on a stylish shirt along with a skirt (a little shorter than i usually wore) and a sandal with a medium heel. After finishing doing my outline, I take the bag with the gift and went down the stairs.
The day before I had found something in the mall, a chain with an amber stone as a pendant. The attendant of the store had told me it meant protection and calm, which I thought was perfect to give to Tom as a way to show that I was there to comfort him whenever he needed it.
As soon as I went downstairs my mother was already waiting for me to fill me with accessories (she always complained that I didn't "dress up" properly).
- You look beautiful! - She said putting a bracelet on my wrist and two rings on my fingers.
- Aw, thanks mom!- I said giving a kiss on her cheek. - I have to go, because I'm almost late, I don't know what time I'll be back, probably before midnight.
-Okay, If you need anything calls us and we'll go get you. - She said and I nodded waving to my father who was in the living room. - Give my birthday wishes to Thomas and a hi to Haz for me and take this pie to Nikki. - She handed me a bag with a pot as we walked down the stairs from the front door.
- Okay, bye mom! - I said and waved down the street.
After walking for less than 10 minutes I was in front of Tom's house, took a deep breath, went up the stairs to the entrance and knocked on the door. I heard some screams to open the door from the inside and a "messy hair" Harry wearing striped pajamas answered me.
- It's Y/n! - He yelled to the side. - Come in. - He said as he gave me space and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
- Are you ready to sleep? - I said pointing to his pajamas. - Actually it's time to children to be in bed, you're right. - and Harry stuck out his tongue.
- So funny. Since we're not old enough to go to the party with you guys, me, Sam and Paddy are going to play video games and watch movies, you know, boys night. - He said as if celebrating, putting a fist up.
- Got it. In fact, what I really wanted was to be with you guys watching movies, much better than a party. - I said as we arrived in the kitchen, where Nikki and Sam were preparing cookies.
- I doubt it, I can't wait to go out and have fun at night. Harry said and I shrugged.
- What can I do? I'm a old lady... - I laughed and greeted Nikki and Sam with a hug.
- I wish my children like to stay in home like you. -Nikki spoke as she took the cookie shape out of the oven.
- Well Nikki, I've already tried to get them on the right path, but they're too rebellious.- I said and Harry and Sam giggled. - My mother sent you apple pie. - I put the bag on the counter.
- Yay, your moms apple pie is delicious!- Sam said opening the bag and taking a fork to taste.
- Teenagers....I don't know what I do with these pests anymore.- Nikki said putting her hand on her hip and watching Harry and Sam fight to eat the pie.
- Did I hear pie?- Paddy came into the kitchen greeting me with our handshake, which I taught him since he was practically a baby, Paddy and I had our little bond, I was his defender when the older brothers made fun of him.
He stole Sam's fork and ran off as he and Harry ran after him screaming.
-Oh God…I don't deserve this.- Nikki laughed. - Honey, Tom is there in his room getting ready, if you want to go upstairs.
- Okay, I'll hurry him.- I said and she agreed, laughing. - By the way, you look amazing! I loved your outfit.
- Thank you Nikki! - I thanked going towards the stairs.
Once I got to the top I walked until I reached the end of the hallway where Tom's room was, knocking on the door.
- Tommy? Can I come in? - I asked and heard a "come in!" from the inside.
I opened the door and saw Tom in front of the mirror finishing his hair. He wore a basic white T-shirt and black jeans, along with a black all star with white laces. He looks beautiful, which made me miss a few heartbeats for a moment.
- Did you like it? - He asked turning to me and opening his arms looking at himself and then at me again.
- Perfect! I loved the all star- I said and he smiled.
- You not looking bad yourself either... New skirt? - He said looking me up and down making me feel my cheeks burning.
- It's old, but I've never used it, I left it for special dates.
- I felt honored now- he said and I laughed.
-Hey happy brithday! - I approached and hugged him feeling his delicious and intoxicating perfume. - Best wishes, I hope all your dreams come true. - I said still hugging him tight and closing my eyes feeling him kiss my cheek when we let go.
- Thank you mate, you and Haz are one of the best thinga in my life. - He said and I smiled seeing him smile back, and what a smile... Damn y/n! Stop thinking things that shouldn't be thought!!
-I have a present for you!-I said, delivering my bag in his hands.
- Yay!! - He got excited sitting on the bed to open it like a child on Christmas Day. -Wow!- he said taking the chain out of the box. - It's beautiful... Thank you so much darling, I love it! - and obviously I blushed even more with the pet name. Tom called all the women closest to him darling or love, which was normal, but whenever he said to me, for some reason, I felt a warm feeling in my heart...
- You're welcome Tommy, it's an amber stone to bring you protection and patience.
- Perfect, everything I need - he looked at me - I'll use it right now! It even matched my outifit- he said putting the chain around his neck and winking at me right after.
- I liked it, it looks amazing. - I said looking at him and he hugged me from the side.
- Hey, we have to go if we don't want to be late.- he said getting up and giving me his hand to get up too.
- Right. - I said, following him out of the room and down the stairs behind him.
- Mom? We're already going! - he yelled, taking the keys from the counter and Nicki appeared approaching.
- You two are rocking huh? Both look beautiful! My baby is already so grown... - she said squeezing one of Tom's cheeks making me laugh and he rolled his eyes.
- Mom...
- Okay, go ahead, and don't drink! Especially you young man - she said pointing at Tom with her intimidating finger. - And don't come back too late.
- Okay mom. I'm responsible.
- Yeah... I'm just more relieved, because the Y/n goes too, she's the only sane one of this "impossible trio." - and I made a face of "proud of myself", puffing out my chest.
-Ha-ha, yeah sure...- Tom replied and I hit his arm causing him to rub it pretending he was in pain.
- I'm the oldest and most responsible, Nikki is absolutely right. - I said and Nikki laughed.
- You said like you're very old, but it's only some months... - He start saying and I raised my hand ready to hit him again, making him shrink with fear. - Okay, okay... Now let's go, because we're already too late. - Tom said opening the door letting me through and we waved to Nikki.
We took an uber and arrived in 20 minutes in front of the party. It was a really nice house, Tom’s friend welcome us on the front door and lead us to the backward, into what appeared to be a small wood structure with a big window at the front, but when Tom and I walked in after passing the door, the place was a lot bigger than it looked. It had a lot tables around like a big saloon even with a dance floor and seemed to be very cozy. When we walked in you could hear an indie song playing in the background, which I really liked as it's one of my favorite styles. Passing through the door we already saw some familiar people seated, including Haz.
- Finally! The birthday boy arrived!- Tuwaine, one of the boys' friends, who eventually became mine too, stood up greeting Tom with a hug.
- Thanks mate.- Tom said returning the hug and greeting the rest of the people who were at the table and I went after him greeting them too.
- Good to see you here Y/n! I know you're not a big fan of parties.- Tuwaine said as I sat between him and Haz.
- Well, it’s what we do for friends, right? - I laugh looking at Tom who was talking to some friends from the school.
An hour passed and everyone was drinking and talking happily. Tom sat at the end of the long table a little away from where I was with Haz and Tuwaine, so the 3 of us were talking nonsense and joking together.
Until a group of 4 girls arrived together, one of them I could recognize as being Gracie, a girl from the school, I didn't know her very well, we were classmates, we did math together, but we never talked. And another face I knew well: Meghan. A girl who do theater with the boys and who was everyone's crush. Tom and Haz were always talking about her, but I had never talked to her for a long time, just the times I would meet the boys at the theater, we would say hello and goodbye and that was it. The only thing I knew was that Tom was in love with her since he was a child.
Obviously that made me a little jealous, which was ridiculous, because I didn't even know her very well and even though I felt something different for Tom for the past few months, it wasn't right for me to be jealous, he was my friend, that's all.
The girls approached the table and Tom got up to greet them.
-I'm glad you came!-I heard him say as he kissed Meghan's cheek and hugged the others. I could see Gracie looking in Haz's direction and look away quickly, which made me raise a curious eyebrow.
They sat down and I saw Meghan walking to the bar with Tom as they chatted excitedly. I looked away picking up my glass with a drink I didn't even know what it was anymore, taking a sip. I heard someone approaching and when I looked up I saw Gracie.
- Hi Haz! Good to see you. - She said and I saw Haz turn a little red.
- Good to see you too Gracie!- he said greeting her across the table.
- Do you guys know each other?- I asked looking from one to the other.
- Yes we did English together. - Haz said.
- You are Y/n aren't you? Do we do math together? - Gracie asked.
- Yes we do! Do you know Meghan too?
- Yes, she is a childhood friend of mine, as she said she was coming on Tom's birthday and didn't want to come alone me, Beverly and Paige came to accompany her.
- Got it, do you want to sit with us? - I said pointing to the chair in front of us.
- I wish, but the girls are already asking me to sit with them, we haven't seen each other for a while, you know, don't you want to go sit with us instead? - She said pointing to the other table where the other 3 girls were looking at her, calling her.
- It's a good idea. - Haz said and looked at me and Tuwaine who agreed, getting up.
So Gracie went in the front with Tuwaine behind her and me and Haz got a little further back, where I poked him.
- Why didn't you tell me you had a crush? - I asked like a whisper so that only he could hear me.
- It's not a crush... She's just a nice girl from my class, that's all. - he replied.
- Haz I know you.- I said and he rolled his eyes giggling.
We arrived at the table and stayed there talking and getting to know each other. The girls were really nice and cool, which I ended up getting along really well with them, especially Gracie, which was funny because we did a class together and we never even said hello to each other. In the meantime, Tom and Meghan had already returned from the bar with their drinks, where Meghan ended up finding a way to sit next to Tom at the other table, which I thought was a little weird, but I ignored it.
After a few minutes Tom approached our table.
- Hey guys, we’re going to the dance floor, do you guys want to?- he asked leaning between my chair and Haz.
Everyone ended up agreeing, getting up and following him to the dance floor, where Meghan and a few others at the other table were already dancing. The song Juicebox by The strokes starts playing, and everyone sang loudly. I was a little behind as I hated dancing, but I also joined in the singing, because Strokes was one of my favorite bands.
Soon after, the song Glockenspiel song by D.I.D started to play. We got even more excited and started jumping singing. I saw Haz approach Gracie, which made me smile, they looked cute together. So, I looked around and realized that I was in a corner alone, Tuwaine had already left for the middle of the floor super excited and the other girls were on the other side, talking to Marcos and Julian. I kept looking until I found Tom and Meghan, they were dancing very close and talking talking into each other's ears, laughing.
(Oh this town, it's so electric Since I got the feeling I can't shut down)
I lowered my eyes finding the ground very interesting for a moment, but I couldn't stand it and looked up again.
(Oh this town, it's so electric Since I got the feeling I can't shut down)
Which I regretted, because now they were kissing passionately.
(We are a mess, we are failures and we love it)
I felt my stomach starts to hurt, and my eyes fill with tears. Why did I feel this way? It was ridiculous and immature. Tom had already hooked up with other girls in front of me, why was it different now? Not understanding my feelings, the only thing I did was run away, I went outiside and went to the front of the house, leaving.
Maybe it was the drink? But I sat on a low wall and lowered my head to my knees and started to cry.

Late Night Visitor
Tumblr media
Summary: A mysterious stranger visits your balcony and accidentally leaves behind a priceless jewelry that they stole from a museum.
Author’s Note: I’m pleased to share the next story for @bnhabookclub Hero Camp Bingo event. The prompt I used was “Crime AU” It took a while getting this done because of work stress and having slight writer’s block (plus I kept changing the story’s direction). But really, it was because of how stressed/tired I’ve been the past few weeks. So, really sorry if it took forever posting another story.
It’s also my first time writing for Hawks, so hopefully I did him justice! He was the first character that popped up when working with this prompt. Please enjoy!!
Word Count: 2.3K+

“Ah! Hot, hot!”
Well, isn’t this just great? Nothing like accidentally burning your tongue during dinner to remind yourself how impatient you are—damn hunger. One hand flails to cool down your mouth. Steam dances above the hearty bowl of curry rice, the sweet smell of caramelized onions greeting your nose with a soft kiss. Bless the local 7-11 markets for selling quick and easy meals.
You sit criss-cross applesauce on the fluffy gray rug and scroll through social media for the millionth time. It’s been a slow weekend as yesterday’s news is recycled for today’s news. A random show plays on the television, but you don’t pay attention to the white noise. All your focus is on the phone, yet you still reach for another bite from your meal. How the rug stays clean during dinner nights at home is a complete mystery.
Sipping on your drink, you spare a glance at the balcony and do a double-take—a stranger is crouching outside. You choke, “Oh shit!”
Without thinking, you scurry behind the gray couch, not caring if the rug becomes messy. Your pounding heart is like a concert bass drum which echoes around the small apartment. The sound drowns out the show’s mindlessly chatter. Frightened eyes peek around the corner, and you whip back in full regret.
The person is still outside. Their back is facing toward the balcony door, and they are wearing a form-fitting black hoodie. Hands search for your phone, but they come up empty. Panic finally settles in when you realize it’s on the coffee table. Great, you moan as your head softly hits against the furniture—is the door even locked?
You’re faced with a dilemma: Do you stay out of sight until the stranger leaves or risk being seen while getting help? After much deliberation, you swallow a hard pill and growl at the ceiling, “If I’m doing this, I better not die!”
You’re like a soldier crawling through the mud with a drill sergeant yelling down your neck. You snatch the phone off the table, but make the mistake of looking up at the sliding door. Everything comes to a screeching halt as curious gold eyes stare into your timid ones. The mysterious visitor becomes more intimidating thanks to the balaclava mask—it covers the lower half of their face.
The intense staring contest last for an eternity. You nearly rip off the loose strands on your rug when the stranger approaches closer; they stop when you back away. Taking pity on you, they jump over the balcony and disappear into the quiet night.
A sense of relief washes over you.
Who knows what could have happened to you? Maybe your mom was right about learning some self-defense; the pepper spray is not enough. As you stand and dust off your pants, a shiny light catches your attention; it’s coming from outside. You go against your better judgment and tiptoe toward the balcony.
Your jaw immediately falls to the floor when you spot an exquisite ruby pendant. A sparkling round diamond sits above the bright red gemstone, a slight tint of purple hue lurking underneath. Even the platinum metal chain carries an air of luxury. It’s as if the gods carefully hand-crafted this entire jewelry themselves. In short, it is simple but elegant.
Sliding the door, you wonder if this is some kind of trap. After checking your surroundings, you swiftly pick up the accessory and snort, “Thank you for making me feel poor.”
Fingers glide along the gemstone’s perfect curves as you gaze at the sleeping neighborhood. Your mind goes wild: Who was the person with those haunting golden eyes? Why did they come to your balcony? And why in the world did they leave behind a beautiful masterpiece?
You have so many questions but very few answers.
༛༛ ༛ ༛༺༻༛ ༛ ༛༛
“So, you didn’t call the police?”
“Um…no…?”
“And why not?”
“It was a mixture of being both scared and stupid.”
“Oh my—” Fuyumi pinches the bridge of her nose. You twiddle your fingers like a guilty child and sink further into the booth. Fuyumi had her suspicions when you texted her to meet up at the usual coffee shop near your apartment. It’s your go-to place whenever you’ve done something questionable, which is ninety-nine percent of the time. Plus, the café whips up the perfect batch of castella—her favorite pastry.
Customers stroll in and out of the coffee shop as piano music plays softly in the background. Roasted coffee beans linger in the air, tempting your nose with its delicious aroma. Out of habit, you push the castella closer to Fuyumi as if that would help soften the blow. She exhales, “Next time, please call the police.”
“Yes, mother,” you mumble much to Fuyumi’s displeasure, but she lets it slide. With the worst over, you bounce straight up and tap the table with an air of excitement. “Oh! Here’s the best part though, besides surviving a break-in—”
“The person was outside your balcony.”
“—close enough, but not really the point, okay?” Fuyumi rolls her eyes, and you fish out your phone to show her a picture. She takes a closer look as you ramble off. “Anyway, my late-night visitor left behind this gorgeous pendant! Why they were carrying this around is beyond me, and so carelessly too. I’m no jeweler, but I’m pretty sure those stones are worth a fortune—still beautiful, though.”
“Yeah, and stolen!” The white-haired teacher hisses. You blink, wholly baffled at her extreme reaction. Fuyumi whips out her iPhone with two fingers flying above the screen. She shoves it toward you, your eyes skimming through the article. The news delivers a sharp slap across your face as the realization sinks in.
Oh no…
Fuyumi bites her lip, “It’s The Grand Droplet, a priceless heirloom rumored to offer infinite life and prosperity. Police are saying the notorious thief, Hawks, stole the pendant last night from the Yutaka Jewelry Museum.” A few seconds later, she adds, “You have the pendant—”
“Shhhhhh!” A hand attacks her arm, your panicked eyes wandering around the coffee shop as if your cover got blown. No one turns their heads, but you shoot an annoyed glare at Fuyumi. “Why don’t you say it louder? I don’t think the barista heard you!”
“I’m sorry! It’s just,” she grips the table’s edge and leans closer, “This is serious! You have to bring the pendant to the authorities. See, this is exactly why you should have called the police last night! The longer you wait, the more guilty you look. Maybe you’ll even become an accomplice to the crime.”
“You’re not helping!”
“Sorry…”
You dramatically groan into your hands, “Why did this happen to me?! When I said I wanted to live like Larry, I didn’t mean this!”
“I know,” Fuyumi pats your head and sneaks a bite of her delicious treat; her phone chimes beside you. She checks the message before flashing an apologetic stare. “Listen, I have to take care of something with my family, but I hate to leave you like this.”
“No, it’s okay. I can handle this myself,” you pathetically convince her. “I’m sure nothing bad will happen, knock on wood—”
“The table is metal.”
“I said what I said!” Your fist aggressively pounds the table, scaring off some customers. A mother hastily pushes her child away from the chaotic scene. You calm down and sigh, “I promise to call you if I’m in danger, okay?”
“Okay.”
You nod before whispering, “Sorry, table.”
༛༛ ༛ ༛༺༻༛ ༛ ༛༛
The walk back home is anything but relaxing. You are on high alert, throwing suspicious glances at anyone coming too close to you. They could be undercover cops waiting to ambush you and interrogate your poor soul for hours until the necklace reappears.
But I didn’t do anything! I’m a good noodle!
You sigh as the key unlocks the door, your shoes flying off by the entrance. Fortunately, you hid the pendant in a safe place. All you want to do is get rid of this jewelry; it brings nothing but trouble.
Marching down the hallway, you grumble under your breath, “Stupid Hawks, and his stupid stealing habits.”
Everyone knows about the infamous Hawks. He strikes when one least expects him to, and somehow successfully evades capture after every heist. But Hawks always leaves behind his signature red feather as a little present for authorities—it never fails to rile them up. Hopefully, the cops show some mercy when you explain what happened. Maybe you should work on your puppy dog look before heading downtown, which might help you score a few sympathy points.
You find the burgundy jewelry box sitting on the closet’s top shelf and breathe a sigh of relief—the pendant is still inside. Not wasting precious time, you close the lid and exit your room. A soft click makes you freeze.
Standing by the balcony door is Hawks, who wears a black jacket with a white shirt underneath. His ashy blonde hair is lazily slicked back, a few strands sticking here and there like no tomorrow. Surprisingly, he lowers the balaclava mask and flashes a boyish grin, “‘Bout time you came home! I was getting bored out there.”
“How did you—wait, never mind. You break into high-security places to steal things for a living,” you say, shifting the jewelry box onto your right grip. “Listen, as much as I would like to stay and chit-chat, my day is fully booked. Can’t really cancel on these people, ya know?” You slowly tiptoe backward, an awkward laugh ringing through the air. “Let’s do a rain check; I’m free next week. Okay? Okay! See ya—“
“Hold it!” You halt on his order, a curse slipping out your mouth. Hawks strides across the floor, and you clutch the box closer to your chest. You feel as though your feet are glued to the ground, the nerves growing stronger once Hawks stands only a few feet away. He crosses his arms and nods at the box, “Whatcha got there?”
“Oh, it’s nothing special, really.”
“Can I take a look?”
“No.”
“Why not?”
“Um, because I don’t want to, that’s why,” you childishly snap and send him a dismissive wave. “Now, shoo! You’re wasting my precious time.”
Hawks chuckles at your feisty attitude. He finds this whole ordeal extremely amusing. You know who he is, you know of his reputation just like everyone else in Japan. And yet, you keep on swinging like a boxer with your witty responses. Still, he has a job to finish. “I’m not leaving until you give me that pendant.”
“Well, I hope you’re paying for half the rent because there’s no way in hell I’m giving it to you, Mr. Thief.” Two seconds later, you add, “Besides, it’s not even yours!”
“It’s not yours either.”
“Oh!” You give him a fake laugh, pointing one finger at your chest. “So the thief is criticizing me for having something that’s not mine? How rich.”
“You’re lucky I find you cute, but,” Hawks dangerously invades your personal space without giving you a chance to stop him. From far away, he doesn’t appear tall. However, Hawks somehow towers over you, which makes you involuntarily squeak. A wicked glint shines through his golden eyes as he studies your unique facial features. You suddenly forget to breathe when his eyes glance at your lips—damn him.
Hawks plucks the box from your loose grip. The hypnotic spell comes crashing down, and you loudly snarl, “Hey! Give it back!”
“Sorry, Dove,” Hawks keeps you at arm’s length, his gloved hand giving your shoulder a soft squeeze as he smirks, “I got a buyer who’s willing to pay a hefty price for this beauty. Of course, you are way more stunning, but he doesn’t need to know that.”
“Quit charming me!” You’re a blushing mess now and throw a pillow at him; he easily dodges it much to your dismay. Hawks’ cackles bounce off the wall, which makes you scowl. His fingers slide the balcony door open, and he tastes sweet freedom.
“Farewell, Dove!”
You have a deja vu moment when Hawks jumps over the edge. Your legs rush outside, and eyes frantically search the streets, but it’s no use—the thief is long gone. One hand slaps your forehead as you stupidly let him get away with the jewel. Feeling like a deflated balloon, you whip out your phone and make a quick call.
“Fuyumi…yeah, the pendant got stolen again.”
Stupid thief.
༛༛ ༛ ༛༺༻༛ ༛ ༛༛
You collapse on the couch with as much grace as an inexperienced dancer who steps on people’s toes. Work left you exhausted, but you’re glad it’s almost the weekend. You’ll definitely sleep in and have a lazy day on Sunday. It’s what you deserve after meeting tight deadlines and also talking to the police about Hawks.
Fortunately, they do not blame you for anything, much to your relief. It’s been about a week since Hawks broke into your apartment to steal back the Grand Droplet. Police have no luck locating him; they believe the thief is lying low until it’s safe enough for him to strike again. Where exactly is anyone’s guess.
A knock disrupts your thoughts.
It comes from the balcony, and you jump to your feet. No one is outside, although a flash of red catches your eye. Lo and behold, it’s Hawks’ signature feather with a small note attached. Oh, how lovely, you think before snatching the gift off the floor. Your pet name is affectionately written across the paper. You hate yourself for finding Hawks’ calligraphy impressive, but proceed to read the note.
Sorry for cutting our convo short—had a deal to close. No hard feelings, though, right? If anything, I’ll make it up to you, Dove. Besides, you still owe me that rain check.
See ya soon!
-H
You don’t bother biting back your smile.
Guess you’ll be seeing Fuyumi at the coffee shop again.

Woes of the Heart
Prompt: There’s been two romances in your life that the tabloids couldn't get enough of, first when you dated Keanu, and now that you’re dating Tom. the media goes crazy when the three of you show up at the same event and wonder if you and Keanu will speak again since it is well know that he never got over you, and how Tom will react if so.
Word Count: 1682
Warnings: angst, and maybe language
Notes: NOT beta’d, all mistakes are mine. And I HATED doing this to my dude Keanu...was NOT most excellent, my dude...
~~~~~
You were at the Cannes Film Festival with Tom, both of you looking rather dashing. He was donning a light gray suit with a soft pink tie, and your flowy dress matched in color. You two graced the red carpet and the media - as always - went crazy. You were one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood right now, so every move you made was analyzed, scrutinized, and put on display.
You wondered and worried about what the paparazzi would say about your dress and accessories today? Would they say your shoes were the only good thing about you? Would they say your hair was all wrong? Would they say the waistline didn’t flatter you? Would they admonish your stylist's choice of gold accessories? The frenzy of questions pelted your mind as you tried your best to give your award winning sultry smile, turning so everyone could get a front, side, and back view of the dress. You signed things along the way as well as taking several selfies with fans. A lot of them included Tom as you two would kiss the cheeks of fans.
Festivals like this couldn’t help but remind you of your first love, Keanu, though. You two used to attend events like this long ago together, the media just as nuts about your relationship back then as it was about you and Tom now. And why wouldn’t they be? You were together for six years, rumors of pregnancy, weddings, marriages circling around you two like sharks while you had dated.
The melancholy feeling washed over you for a few moments before you were snapped out of it by Tom who offered you his arm to lead you into the theater. You happily followed him inside and took your seats.
Watching the first two films, you were incredibly preoccupied. Your mind swam back to Keanu. You wondered how he was after all these years. When you broke up, you’d maybe spoken to him twice, but now that you and Tom had been together three years, you hadn’t talked to him once. It’s not as if you didn’t want to, you just never got a response to anything you’d sent him.
As they had intermission, Tom was checking his phone.
“Uh oh,” he said, his blue eyes shifting from the screen to you.
“What’s wrong?” you asked softly as you sipped your drink.
“Here.” He turned the phone to you and there were a few headlines already, they made your stomach drop.
“Keanu and Tom may duke it out tonight over Y/N.” “How will the relationship of the decade end up?” “Past and present collide as old flame Keanu and new beau Tom enter the same theater.”
Each were headlines alerting you that Keanu was here - tonight. You hadn’t been in the same room with him since you broke up four years ago...Your throat tightened as your eyes immediately scanned the lobby for him.
“Would you like to leave?” Tom asked gently, his hand on your lower back.
You waved him off delicately. “No, I’m fine.”
“Y/N?” the voice breathed behind you. The hairs stood up on your arms and back of your neck.
“Keanu,” you returned without turning around.
“You look lovely,” he complimented. “At least, what I can see.”
Taking a deep breath, you turned to face him. He looked….well he looked broken. His suit was finely tailored, his hair combed straight back, clean shaven, but that was all appearance, all exterior. In those dark eyes, you saw pools of pain.
“You’re looking handsome yourself.”
The three of you stood there for a moment, no one saying anything. Awkward wasn’t the word used to describe it...it was more...tense. It wasn’t the sort of social situation you just laugh off, or make a joke about how awkward it was, no this atmosphere was much heavier than something that crass.
“I….could we talk?” he asked, a sort of urgency in his deep voice.
“Sure,” you agreed. “Come in here…” You gestured to an empty room not far from you as Tom started to follow before you turned and held up a finger, silently asking him to stay put. He bowed his head ever so slightly and gave you a gentle smile as you stole away in the room.
“You really do look good,” he repeated as he propped himself against a wall.
“Thank you, Keanu. What did you want to talk about?”
“I want to ask...why you left.”
“You know why I left,” you answered, a tired tone coming out. It reminded you of all the arguments you used to have with him.
“I know but that’s not good enough.”
“Kee,” you started, sighing, slipping back into your nickname for him. “It was for the best. You know that.”
“Do I? Do I know that you walking out of my life was the best thing for me?” he demanded in a strained voice.
“We just wanted different things. We were fighting too much. You have to remember that,” you tried gently.
“What if we let that go? Could we be together again?”
“I’m afraid not,” you responded, biting your lip to keep the tears at bay.
“But why not?”
“Because you wanted children, a family, I wasn’t ready for that.”
“I’d give that up if it meant I could just have you again.” With that, he broke down. Sobs started to wrack his body. “I...I can’t live without you, Y/N, can’t we give it another shot?” he asked through the sobs while he slid down the wall and landed so he was sitting with his knees up, his back on the wall. Your heart broke at the sight of him.
“No, Kee, I’m sorry,” you answered while you knelt in front of him, a tear betraying you as it slid out of your lid onto your cheek.
“Is it because of him?” he questioned, thrusting his chin toward the door.
You nodded solemnly.
“So you love him?”
With a mangled voice of happiness and sorrow, you answered, “We’re going to get married.”
“So you can marry him, but not me…”
You sighed as you closed your eyes. “Keanu, please….”
“I wanted a family with you. I wanted to marry you. I wanted a life with you. What was so wrong about that?” he asked, his red rimmed eyes making your stomach float to your throat. It was killing you to not comfort him.
“Because I didn’t want them. Kee…” You sighed and looked him square in his beautiful, tragic eyes. “Because you were 40 when you wanted those things, I was 26...an actress. I wasn’t ready to be a mom, I wasn’t ready to be a wife. I wanted you to have the chance at those things with someone else before it was too late. That’s why I left. I loved you too much to let you stay chained to someone who couldn’t give you what you want and needed.”
“And you didn’t think in time you’d change your mind? You could’ve at least married me…”
You shook your head, remembering the night he proposed on a beach in Hawaii as you two were walking while the sun had just set. He gave you a beautiful speech, had a gorgeous white shirt and black pants on, gave you a diamond necklace, then got down on one knee and asked. It had touched you, you wanted so badly to say yes...but you couldn’t. When you said no, you wanted to suck the words back in as you watched his face falter in shock, hurt, humiliation. It killed you to see that. But that’s not when you broke up. You explained you weren’t ready that night and he understood, but only four months later, the pressure that you knew what he wanted was coming between you.
Arguments about commitment, future, family coming up all the time, you knew it was time to end things.
“I couldn’t say yes to you, and make you wait ten more years for me to want to give you a family, if it ever came. That would be the most selfish thing I could’ve done to you,” you said, placing a hand on his knee.
“We were together for six years, Y/N. You’ve only been with him, what, three? What...what does he have that I don't?” he questioned, his tears starting to slow.
You suddenly reached forward and hugged him, no longer to able to take the sight of him in pain. Sighing as he gripped you tight, his arms constricting around you as he cried hard. You started to weep with him.
“Kee, it’s not that simple. I love him. I loved you too, that’s why I let you go.”
You sat for a few more moments, rocking back and forth as you two held each other. If you could’ve waved a magic wand and given him everything he wanted, you would have. You still loved him, and it killed you to not be with him like that, but you loved Tom now. Your future was with him.
He let go of you first after some time, nodding.
“Alright...I understand.” You stood up and helped him up as you kissed his cheek.
“I will always love, you, okay?” you said sternly, peering into his eyes as you held his hands. He nodded and the door opened as Tom poked his head in.
“I’m sorry, I don’t want to intrude, I just wanted to make sure everything was okay in here,” he said.
Keanu nodded as a smile touched his face. He glanced between you, then his eyes lingered on you, as he answered, “Yeah, man, we’re fine.” He kissed your cheek and turned to Tom. He handed your hand to him and patted Tom’s arm. “She’s one hell of a woman. Make sure you don’t blow it.”
“I won’t,” Tom promised.
With a smile and nod, he walked out of the room. Your eyes lingered on his back until he disappeared for good, wondering if you’d ever see him again.
Jack Quaid Loves a Haunted House
LOS ANGELES — Jack Quaid is that guy — we all know someone like him — who convinces you that the haunted house will be fun. “You can be very prepared” for the scares around each corner, he’ll say, reassuringly. It’s an “immersive experience,” he’ll say.
Then, on a recent Saturday night, you, along with Jack and his girlfriend Lizzy McGroder, an actress and comedian, will check out the Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios, a journey through 10 spooky mazes inspired by the studio’s films and TV shows, and it will scare you half to death.
And you’ll know that what is thrilling to Mr. Quaid, 27, star of the Amazon series “The Boys,” is downright heart attack inducing.
Mr. Quaid grew up in Santa Monica and lives in Los Angeles, but he has been spending a lot of time in Toronto, where “The Boys” is filmed. The show takes place in a world where superheroes not only exist, but are also deeply flawed and marketed to the general public by a corporation called Vought International.
Mr. Quaid plays Hughie Campbell, a store clerk who joins a group of non-superpowered vigilantes seeking to take down the superheroes because his girlfriend was killed by one of them in an accident.
The son of Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan, Mr. Quaid traces the origins of his acting career back to a middle school production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” (He played Nick Bottom.)
“I always saw my parents do it and I’m like, ‘O.K., they’re having fun, but do I want to do this?’” he said. Once he tried it, he recalled thinking, “‘O.K., I got bitten by the acting bug, let’s do this.’”
After graduating from New York University, Mr. Quaid acted in short films, played a minor character in “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” and had a recurring role on “Vinyl,” an HBO show.
This year has been something of a breakout one for him. In addition to his role on “The Boys,” he played the leading man in “Plus One,” a romantic comedy about two single friends who agree to be each other’s wedding dates. It came out this summer.
At Universal, where the night began with a V.I.P. van tour of the studio’s back lot, Mr. Quaid filled a different role: movie nerd. The group’s tour guide, Chris Maul (“like Darth Maul,” he said), pointed out iconic sets, including the Bates Motel from “Psycho,” Whoville from “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” and backdrops for “Waterworld” and “Jaws.”
When the tour passed the courthouse set for “Back to the Future,” Mr. Quaid started geeking out. Mr. Maul offered to pull over so he and Ms. McGroder could take pictures.
“Jack, you’re like a kid,” Ms. McGroder said.
“This is like legitimately the best night of my life,” he said.
Then things got scary.
First, it was the Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man maze, conceptualized around a scenario in which the two Universal Studios monsters encounter each other in a cemetery; the guests walking through the maze are caught in the middle of it. The experience included many grotesquely costumed figures popping out from behind curtains without warning.
Mr. Quaid led the way with Ms. McGroder holding onto his shoulders. He plugged his ears and parted the drapes between sections of the maze with his elbows. Despite his and Ms. McGroder’s encouraging words to this reporter and a P.R. representative for Mr. Quaid, who was also in attendance, there was a lot of screaming.
The “Ghostbusters”-themed maze offered a change of pace before everyone was thrown back into a state of terror in the Creepshow maze and the All Hallow’s Evil outdoor experience.
Mr. Quaid and Ms. McGroder have a quirky meet-cute story. Mr. Quaid was getting drinks with friends at Harvard & Stone, a bar in Hollywood, when Ms. McGroder started yelling nonsense at him.
“All of a sudden, from across the bar, I just hear, ‘Hey! You! Get over here. You’re late. Mom’s going to cancel the trip to Mexico,’” he said. Ms. McGroder, 28, does improv and sketch comedy as a member of the Groundlings Sunday Company.
Mr. Quaid, who was a member of Hammerkatz, an improv troupe at New York University, just rolled with it. “I was like, ‘Yeah, sorry I’m late,’” he said.
The couple recently modeled in an ad campaign for Frances Valentine, a New York-based accessories line founded by Kate Spade; her husband, Andy; and their friend and business partner Elyce Arons.
“She gave me so many tips,” Mr. Quaid said of Ms. McGroder. “I was like, ‘How do I angle my body to sell clothes?’”
They love collaborating, whether it is on goofy social media posts or video shorts. (Mr. Quaid stars in a short Ms. McGroder helped write, in which a fictional star of “The Bachelor” has a dark encounter with fans.) “Our ideal Friday night is getting ice cream and watching ‘The Bachelor’ franchise,” Ms. McGroder said.
On their way to take a dinner break, the two walked through the Scare Zone, where they were accosted by, among other horrors, a zombie on stilts and masked men with chain saws.
“We love the interactive horror stuff that really, fully immerses you,” Ms. McGroder said. “I like anything that makes you believe you’re in a dream.”
More like a nightmare. “Maybe you’ll like actually like this, the taste of it,” Mr. Quaid said to this reporter. “I was like that once when I was like, ‘No, I’ll never go,’ and now I really love it.”
