Divergent & Insurgent by Veronica Roth. I'm still so in love with these books and I have a huge fictional crush on Four (Tobias) - I heard they are coming out with the move Divergent and as much as I would love to see it I am so much more excited and anxious about the completion of the series in book form. I've already read them at least ten times each if not more and I feel like re-reading them again. I love that Veronica Roth writes realistically and honestly. When a character dies or when there is a sudden plot twist or surprising event - she doesn't shy away from the truth of the impact it will make on the other characters as well as the reader. We go through the motions of these beautiful yet tragic moments and can relate to the characters because if this was the situation we were in, a dystopian society broken down into factions and fighting a war for our personal freedoms and lives - we would react and be just as devestated or just as altered by this world we live in. We relate to Tris because when we go through a traumatic experience - many many people, whether it's a war veteran or a rape victim or even someone who has survived through a natural disaster - they develop PTSD (Post-traumatic Stress Disorder) and you can clearly see that Tris isn't just some character in a book/movie that can shoot someone or see a loved one die without truly feeling the consequences and ramifications of that action. Tris feels it and when she feels it - we as readers feel it too.
Anyways, that's my rant for today… all I really wanted to say was that I want to re-read it again and that I can't wait for the third book to come out :) lol but I guess I had a little more to say. xo -Shaleefa
