reading that Tarantulas and Prowl processor overload ask has revived one of my recently dormant fetishes
(this is an expansion on the forced porn download ask actually, wasn't really done b4 sending)
Prowl's archives just being a massive database of miscellaneous data, which seems like a fully practical thing that he'd do for simulation work at first glance, but in truth, he just never deletes anything because he gets off to the feeling of being just sooooo full in places no physical sensation can reach.
He wasn't always like this, you see. Prowl used to maintain good software management habits. He'd defrag according to a strict schedule, used connection buffers often and cleared his processing queues before recharge. He would never think twice about netdiving into shady websites with nasty popups, let alone download anything from there. But eventually, as his processors develop at that exponential pace his handlers noticed upon bringing him online, Prowl got bolder.
Bold enough to make a slip up and plug into a corrupt mainframe, triggering that forced download and kickstarting his fetish for good. He barely remembers anything about that incident other than an overwhelming mental barrage of arousal. Sometimes Prowl wonders if his colleagues at the time knew just what was literally going through his head as he slumped over on the console, seizing in place as they frantically tried to disconnect him safely. Maybe they caught the scent of his overload under his panels, and chose not to say anything.
Prowl would of course say that he was perfectly fine after that incident, but he'd be haunted by that instance of utter bliss he'd felt when like 30 terrabytes of ERP chatlogs and erotic flashgames burned through his neural circuitry. Eventually, he'd start by visiting a library. Full of clean and safe data to indulge in. Then he started logging all non-confidential precinct data, like routine security footage that's get deleted anyways, and dispatch call recordings. Then he started downloading from legal websites, then onto not so legal ones.
He even has backup and extra hard drives stored in his office and habisuite in plain sight, since no one else but other archivists and data specialists would catch on to his kink in the first place. Every once in a while, he'd plug himself into all these units and just let all that data flood through him, his fans and cooling systems squealing in effort to keep up with the deluge of information forcing it's way through his staticy brain, reducing his overclocked cognitive units into jello as his RAM gets consumed by pure uncontrollable math.
He loves the feel of his mind being pounded by googols of nonsense, it makes him hornier than anything else. He'd save anything from the internet, books and numeric databases are his usual go tos; high definition media are a must, the more graphically and audially intensive the better; the most unoptimized and performance heavy video games, anything that would fill up his hungry battle computer until it's full to bursting and melting.
Sometimes when he feels extra naughty, he'd even fire up the various malware and viruses the Spec Ops team would bring back, on top of all the seedy ones he'd find online. He'd trigger them in his processor and lie back in his berth, finger his fluttering pussy and feel the malicious software start tearing through his brain as his battle computer instinctively fights back, making him feel soooo hot all over. And every time he overloads, it sweeps all of his progress, and the self cleaning protocols will just have to restart as he writhes helplessly in the dark of his room.
Software sanctity? Fuck that, he'd hit anything as long as it demolishes his brain and make him into a silly, messy, spasming horny mess. A real dataslut.
god this is so good. He's quite literally overloading his processor out. It's almost like an addiction. Of course, Prowl could stop any time he wants... he could, he just doesn't want to! After a while, pumping his head full of junk data and malicious viruses is the only way Prowl can even have a fulfilling orgasm. Being full of miscellaneous data is just not enough. It's a pleasant pressure in his constantly calculating brain, yes, but if he wants to cum, he needs something stronger. He'll keep frying his brain inside of his helm as long as he gets to feel that electrifying thrill of his battle computer struggling to deflect the attacks on his mainframe.
It feels like he's falling apart at the circuits, delicate wiring so hot that it's disintegrating into dust, and all he can do is frantically rub his soaking wet valve through it all, optics bright and staring off into space as his HUD floods with nonsense. All his senses are completely taken over by the foreign malware, all he knows is that he feels so good.
Honestly, I wonder what would happen if he got stuck like that. Just for a day or two. And someone had to find him in his apartment, face twisted in pure bliss as his frame keeps twitching even after countless hours of continuous overloads. Of course, Prowl's processor gets cleaned out after that, yet he can't help but want to repeat it... to feel so absolutely stuffed and overwhelmed with data that he's just a wet, helpless thing. To give up control and let his processor sink into endless pleasure.
But for now, he's got a morning shift at the precinct to finish.

I was a bit worried today would be too much and then it became a lot more but it went well.
All I planned on that was special was that I had a DMV appointment to change my name on my registration
But I forgot to prepare for it yesterday so I rushed to do it before leaving. And there were several sources of truth of which documents I needed, so I filled out all of them and brought them just in case. And then I went to grab my registration out of my car to bring in and realized that the “months away” that it was going to expire when I first started the legal name change process (and figured I’d just renew it while I was there) was now last week.
So I panicked and tried to renew it online but couldn’t bc it’s not linked properly due to the name being changed on my online account. When I got there, I had to find an entrance, haha, bc the one in the parking lot says VISITOR ENTRANCE set in stone like they do on fancy buildings above doors, but then you walk up to the door and there’s a paper sign that says Employee Entrance Only, haha.
And then once inside there was a queueing system and paying attention to the numbers being called was really hard because they were barely audible over the noise of the DMV, but one nice thing is it texts you when it’s your turn, so I probably could have paid less attention.
But it turned out that he was able to renew it and didn’t need any of the other forms (oh well), so I was out pretty quick.
But jumping back to before I left, my team is getting new computers at work, and the others were notified this morning that theirs were ready to pick up in the office (two of the three of us getting the computers are fully remote but live close enough to go in occasionally). But I had no such email. But my appointment was like 90% of the way to work so I brought my laptop to log on to check if it was ready and decide if I’m going in.
Well I checked afterwards and it was ready, so I went in. And I realized while driving this is the first time going to work in person since transitioning at work, which is actually kinda huge. So I did that and it went well, other than that it is warm in there and with the wig and having dressed for the still relatively cooler weather outside plus nervousness and a lot of stairs on the way in, I was drenched in sweat and then extra nervous about that so that made it worse. And I got to meet the new member of my team who works in the office in person for the first time and that was nice.
I also had a couple things I needed to adjust for today that I managed to handle without freaking out too much or having a meltdown or shutdown or anything. Like when I got to work, my ID didn’t work to get in the building so I had to talk to security and get it fixed.
And then I went to leave and there’s an entrance ramp I have to take that’s around a corner, so I turn and get on the road that leads to one interstate and then immediately fork off to the right for the entrance to the interstate that takes me home. So I went to do that and suddenly it’s all cones blocking the way and it says ramp closed, so all of the sudden I’m just getting onto a different interstate going a different direction, but I managed to not panic and activate the voice assistant on my phone to get directions home, which were annoying bc the audio wasn’t working so I had to keep glancing at the infotainment screen to see what the next move was and stay focused on where I was going the whole time.
Also my low gas indicator came on and so I figured I should address it and got gas, and when I get there, the payment terminals on the pumps aren’t working, so I had to go in and talk to the attendant, and it went well and he was nice.

On the 9th of January 2025, I saw an article in my latest copy of Computer Active which explains about mastering Linux distros.
It suggested using a website called 'Distrosea' which hosts free virtual machines of various flavours of the Linux operating system, all of which can be ran within a browser window.
Visit the site here:
https://distrosea.com/
Here is a list of the Linux distros I had a go at running with their desktop environments:
Ubuntu 24.04 LTS - GNOME
Ubuntu 8.10 - GNOME 2 (old, 2008)
Linux Mint 22 - Cinnamon, Ubuntu base
Ubuntu 24.04 LTS - Cinnamon
Fedora Linux 40 - MATE
OpenSUSE Leap 15.5 - KDE
Alma Linux 9 - GNOME
Debian Linux 12.5 - LXqt (lightweight)
Zorin OS 17 Core64 - GNOME (configurable)
There are a total of 71 Linux operating systems to try on the website at the time of this write up.
To install, update and manage software on Linux using a package manager, the distros mentioned on this list based on Debian & Ubuntu use the APT (Advanced Package Tool) and the distros based on Fedora & Red Hat use the DNF (Dandified Yellow-Dog Updater Modified) package managers.
Their are many other types of package managers for Linux. Since Windows 11, users can choose to install software using UnigetUI (a.k.a Winget commands).
About Distrosea:
When you click on any of the distro entries before selecting a desktop environment, you can read a great description of the background information for each.
I think this website is amazing as it allows you to test distros in your browser without the need to plug in a USB or use virtual machine software. basically it gives you a live install copy of Linux to try online for free. It profits from ads shown on its homepage.
Some of the distros have a 'popular' badge, to show which ones are most likely to have more online traffic. Most of these distros are updated to latest versions available.
When you run the operating systems the system information dialogue will contain the server CPU information and displays the virtual graphics card called Red Hat, Inc Virtio 1.0 GPU.
However the site uses limited user traffic to reduce load on the servers, so when you select a version of Linux, there is a queue system. Each session is free, however it is timed when idle to create space for another user. Also the server connection, which is based in India, can disconnect you from your testing frequency, so whilst it works well you have to reset your VM which will continue where you last left off.
Also some of the Linux distros didn't automatically scale to full screen, and so leave bars at the top and bottom of the screen. The old Ubuntu remains surrounded by a large bar around itself as no modern drivers will work with this old version of Ubuntu.
You can sign into your Google account and gain internet access in your VMs as well.
Read the developers notes on Reddit:
https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/139sj6z/distrosea_test_drive_linux_distros_online/?rdt=33513
I would recommend trying this out on a large computer screen as the distros take advantage of hardware acceleration, scaling and look great in full screen mode!
Watch this Distrosea video on YouTube to see it in action!
youtube
Remember that this is another way of testing Linux through the internet, the experience will be different if it is installed on an actual computer.

Good fucking god this has been the most fucking miserable 5 hours of my life
Anyway. I’m living in Liverpool for the short term. And it’s been fun. Early this afternoon I saw the parade, went to the first part of the route, it was great and all. Then I went back and finished my packing as I have to go to Manchester airport in the evening. This flight had been booked months back.
My fucking mistake for leaving a bit too late and arriving at lime street station shortly after the parade has finished. Place was swarmed and the whole concourse outside the stadium was packed. I crossed the street to George’s hall to get shelter cos it was drizzling, and when I looked back the crowd was pressed up to the road. From the vantage point at George’s we could see that the station was just shut and no one was allowed in. Officially, they had announced before today that the station would have a “one queue in one queue out” system but this was clearly not the case. I think just after seven or maybe at 7.30 some people were allowed to leave the station - I supposed a train arrived - but still no one let in.
Bear in mind the city centre is so crowded any mobile data you can get - if any - is fucking slow. So it was only much later word of the car incident went around. And rumours of a stabbing at one of the metro stations. At this point I was trying to walk to another station called Edge Hill, which some of the airport trains call at, but someone warned me that if the trains get too crowded they may just skip the station. Also I got stuck at a coop along the way buying food because the till wasn’t working and there were only 2 staff. So it was getting dark and edge hill isn’t the most well lit area so I figured that even if I never get inside line street it was still safer to call an Uber there late at night rather than at edge hill.
Also I had an airport hotel room booked as my flight wasn’t going to be until really early in the morning (too early for the earliest train the next day) and I tried calling them to let the reception know I might arrive late but their alleged 24 hour reception wasn’t picking up so at this point I’m like even if I get on a train (or am able to book a cab - I did try. Couldn’t even find a ride despite exorbitant surge pricing) is anyone gonna be at the fucking hotel to let me in.
Anyway I did go back to check lime street one more time and this time (which was sometime after 9pm) there was at least a clear queue to get in but it was still fucking long and sections of it are barricaded and frankly I’m appalled that for a city that went through Hillsborough they still thought it was fine to crowd so many people behind fucking barriers.
Finally managed to get on a bus to go back to my apartment and that was also another fucking disaster because the fucking driver kept letting people board and tap their cards despite the bus clearly being packed full, then getting mad that people weren’t standing behind the yellow line (in Liverpool buses there’s a line that people aren’t allowed to stand in front of while the bus is moving) forcing people to cramp and crush each other. Which is so fucking stupid and dangerous. All the buses here have digital displays that they can change to say bus is full if the bus is full but this driver clearly wasn’t doing it. Also some people were still in a very good mood and singing all the football songs so the driver didn’t hear someone press the bell at one point and then refused to let them off.
Anyway I made it back to my place soaked through and fucking annoyed. I’m only now seeing more of what happened online and I’m fucking appalled at the lack of organisation around everything. And the best part is that trains leaving lime street are fucking empty because they still aren’t letting most people in.
Honestly I can stomach all the costs of changing up my travel, forfeiting the hotel, paying a bomb for airport transfer, whatever. It’s peanuts compared to the people who got physically hurt trying to see the team bus. I just needed to rant because what had been a good fun day was fucking ruined by the appalling organisation.

“maybe just maybe” spotted in another fic boo !!!/lh /j
I know you're joking, but just in case anyone takes it seriously: every fic that’s queued through the end of May was written before that anon asked if I use AI. The queue system means Tumblr automatically publishes fics I’ve scheduled in advance, even if I’m not online or even awake when they go live. I don’t manually hit "post" when a fic goes up—it’s all pre-scheduled.
I’m explaining this because I seem to have quite a few readers who assume I write and publish fics immediately after receiving a request, but that’s not how my process works at all. Right now, my queue is set up until the end of May, meaning if I get a new request today, it will be added to the end of the queue and won’t be posted until all the currently scheduled fics have been published.
I’ve honestly lost count of how many times someone has sent me the same request multiple times within just a few days, assuming I never got it. Then, when I finally message them to ask them to stop spamming, they’re surprised to learn that their request is still in the queue. I think a lot of people assume that all the writers they follow work on a "write now, post now" basis, where they complete and publish requests within a day or two. But that’s just not realistic for me.
There are two big reasons I rely on a queue: First, my IRL schedule is unpredictable, so I can't always sit down and write when I want to. Second, I don’t have a smartphone, which means I can only manage my blog when I’m at home on my computer. Having a queue allows me to keep a steady posting schedule without needing to be online every day.
So, to be clear—every fic currently in the queue was written before I started paying attention to how often I use "maybe, just maybe" 😊. For example, the fics published yesterday were actually written two months ago.

Did a bunch more follows on the new blog tonight. Mutuals are welcome to message me and ask for the name of the new blog but also I will find you. Italics to make that statement more terrifying than I intend for it to be. The icon is a white and orange deer thing with mint green eyes. I've been sidetracked on my projects because I ended up being brought onboard to manage the Discord for a cafe out in CA that Iove and adore. Trying to bring more life into the Discord with online events for non-locals like me, and a better Clubs system for both locals and travelers. I got the most yakkety-sax eye exam today because I guess my shitass vision with high irregular astigmatism confused not one, but two nurses. Apparently I'm high risk for glaucoma so I have to go back for testing in a couple weeks which is like. I'm a bit panicked because -glaucoma- that thing that fucks up optical nerves and can lead to total blindness. But I'm not worried because even if I do have the early stages, catching it this early means I can get the treatment to stop it from progressing. This means more frequent eye dr appointments thoooooo. I also got a confirmation that I wouldn't be able to pass the vision test for a drivers license. If I wanted to drive, my only option would be those fuckass binocular things that basically put me in the queue for a t-bone because I have had my peripheral vision forcibly removed. I also wouldn't be able to drive when its dark at all. I decided out of morbid curiosity to see what glasses would cost. My high index lenses alone are over 350$ with no add-ons. I would have to find a place that works with my insurance and even then there's no guarantee they'd cover it in full. Like, okay, so I have dogshit vision on the cusp of legally blind, bad enough to need those kind of lenses with the other -not even being an option-, and so bad I can't even drive without horse blinders and a big "fuck you" in the short days of winter? I've got eyes broken enough that I wouldn't be able to safely navigate to the bathroom let alone make myself food? You know that whole "ableism" thing I both preach about and riff on? Why on this capitalism wrecked purgatory of a planet are the GLASSES not immediately covered in full by insurance everywhere. The sheer amount of "then perish" disabled people get even from the systems put in place to help us would make Luigi Mangione pry apart jailbars with his bare hands and throw every cop in his way into a Bethesda noclip through the floor just to hunt every slug-brained neanderthal behind every medicaid insurance plan denying these crucial disability aids for sport. I'm leaving that string of words as the conclusion to this post.

This app is your one-stop solution for accessing vital healthcare information, making appointments, and ensuring that all your important medical data is stored securely. With a focus on efficiency and ease of use, G-Health empowers users to stay on top of their health without the hassle of paperwork, phone calls, or endless hospital visits.
Key Features of G-Health: What’s New and Improved

The app provides detailed information about available doctors, including their qualifications, areas of expertise, and patient reviews. You can select the doctor that best fits your healthcare needs and choose a time that works for you. 2. Seamless Access to Lab Results and Discharge Summaries
One of the standout features of G-Health is the instant access to lab results, discharge summaries, and prescriptions. There’s no longer a need to wait for a doctor’s office to call you back or to sift through piles of paper. As soon as your results are ready, they are automatically uploaded to your G-Health account.
Patients can review their lab results at their convenience and get a detailed breakdown of their health status. This is especially useful for patients who are managing chronic illnesses or those who require regular check-ups. Having access to these documents allows you to make informed decisions about your health, without unnecessary delays.

G-Health simplifies this by offering a centralized platform where you can view and manage the medical records of your entire family in one place. Whether it’s your children’s vaccination records, your spouse’s prescription history, or your lab test results, everything is accessible with just a few taps on your mobile device.
This new feature is particularly helpful for parents who need to stay updated on their children’s health, allowing for easy access to pediatric records. It’s a single app that caters to the entire family, removing the need to juggle multiple healthcare platforms.
4. Secure Payment and Avoiding Hospital Queues
Hospital visits often come with long lines and waiting times, but G-Health has eliminated this issue by offering online payment options. You can pay for your consultations and treatments directly through the app, bypassing the need to wait at the hospital. This feature not only saves time but also ensures a more efficient and stress-free experience.
Additionally, the cashless payment system helps avoid unnecessary contact, a key benefit in the post-pandemic world. You can view past payments, receive payment reminders, and keep track of all transactions for insurance and tax purposes.
5. Timely Medication and Appointment Reminders
Missing an important medication dose or forgetting about a doctor’s appointment can lead to serious health consequences. With G-Health, this is no longer a concern. The app offers customized reminders for both medication schedules and upcoming appointments Like chemotherapy and Radiotherapy many more, ensuring you never miss a dose or an important healthcare event.
This feature is particularly beneficial for individuals managing chronic conditions or elderly patients who need regular medication. The app will send you push notifications or reminders based on your personalized settings, helping you stay consistent with your treatment.

Small Personal Loans Online: Fast, Simple, and Secure
Financial emergencies can arise at any moment. Whether it’s an unexpected medical bill, a car repair, or a sudden need for cash flow, small personal loans can provide the necessary support.
With the advent of digital lending platforms, getting a small personal loan online has become not only convenient but also fast, simple, and secure.
The Convenience of Online Lending
Gone are the days of lengthy paperwork and endless queues at the bank. Online lending platforms have revolutionized the borrowing process, allowing individuals to apply for loans from the comfort of their homes.
With just a few clicks, applicants can fill out an application form, upload necessary documents, and receive approval within hours.
Speedy Approval and Disbursement
One of the primary advantages of small personal loans online is the quick approval process. Traditional banks often take days or even weeks to process loan applications.
In contrast, online lenders use advanced algorithms and automated systems to assess creditworthiness and provide instant decisions.
Once approved, the funds are typically transferred to the borrower’s bank account within 24 hours, making it an ideal solution for urgent financial needs.
Simple and Transparent Process
Online lending platforms prioritize user experience and transparency.
The application process is straightforward, with clear instructions and minimal documentation requirements. Most platforms provide loan calculators that allow borrowers to estimate their monthly payments and interest rates, helping them make informed decisions.
Additionally, there are no hidden fees or complex terms, ensuring that borrowers understand the full cost of their loans.
Enhanced Security Measures
Security is a top concern for online transactions, and reputable lending platforms employ state-of-the-art encryption and data protection technologies.
Personal and financial information is encrypted to prevent unauthorized access, and strict compliance with data protection regulations ensures the confidentiality and privacy of borrowers’ information.
Flexible Loan Options
Small personal loans online cater to a wide range of financial needs. Whether it’s a short-term loan for a minor expense or a larger loan for significant purchases, borrowers can choose from various loan amounts and repayment terms.
This flexibility allows individuals to tailor their loans to their specific financial situations and repayment capabilities.
Eligibility and Requirements
While eligibility criteria may vary among lenders, most online platforms have lenient requirements. Typically, borrowers need to be at least 18 years old, have a steady source of income, and possess a valid bank account.
Some lenders also consider alternative credit data, making it easier for individuals with limited credit history to qualify.
Conclusion
Small personal loans online have emerged as a reliable and efficient solution for those in need of quick financial assistance.
With their fast approval process, simplicity, and robust security measures, these loans provide a hassle-free borrowing experience.
As technology continues to advance, online lending platforms will further enhance accessibility and convenience, empowering individuals to manage their financial needs with ease.

Half The World Away
I've been walking for a week.
I got the bus to Glasgow and walked back home along the West Highland Way (about 96 miles). I tried this last year, but about five days in I felt my foot Slide Away and my knee gave up the ghost so we had to abandon.
This meant there was some unfinished business and we put together The Masterplan to come back and best our (mostly my) demons.
All of which is to say that I have been largely off the internet for the past seven days, and it seems like a lot has happened in my absence.

And Oasis reformed, after a decade and a half of the Gallagher brothers insisting that they hated each other and would never reform. Some Might Say that it's a cynical money-grab, fuelled by a £20m divorce settlement (looks like someone is no longer Married With Children), and they'd probably be right.
They're going to make a boatload of cash from these shows.
Especially given the fact that some of the tickets, thanks to Ticketmaster's ingenious dynamic pricing system, sold for nearly £500 to people who had been in an online queue for hours, expecting to pay just north of £100. It's greedy and callous, but Don't Look Back In Anger, because they're Rock'n'Roll Stars, so surely it'll be worth it.
But will it?
Would it even have been worth it at £115?
Could anything ever live up to the hype of this musical Lazarus?
Or will it be a half-assed schlep around stadiums full of bandwaggoners and the old faithful, coming together in a futile attempt recreate a moment already lost to time?
A doomed attempt to bottle nostalgia and inhale it with cocaine and Instagram stories. D'you Know What I Mean? (sidenote, I just listened to this track, and realised it used to scare the shit out of me as a kid - the helicopters at the start are freaky, man. So that was a fun little blast down memory lane)
Another thing I missed this week was episode 3 of University Challenge, so Don't Go Away, we'll get to that now.
Listen Up, here's your first starter for ten.

This match saw Gonville and Caius, Cambridge facing Bristol - if you want to watch the episode before reading the review you can do so here.
G&C, Rajan tells us, have reached the quarter-finals on 8 of their 11 appearances, which is an incredible ratio. They won in 2015, thanks to the monumental Grand Final performance of Ted Loveday (Mr Hapax Legomenon, in case the name doesn't ring any bells).
Bristol were runners-up in 2023, their best ever result, with their previous peak seven quarter-finals in the Paxman era.

Both sides have bears for mascots, but only the Bristol bear is wearing a top hat. It remains to be seen whether this matters.
Warner kicks things off for Bristol with Lise Meitner, and they follow this with a full set of bonuses on New York cities. Noble hit back for G&C who managed two bonuses of their own, before a second starter for Warner won a set on words starting with s-o-r-r.
Qureshi takes his first starter with theramin, an instrument that hasn't featured on an Oasis tracks, as far as I'm aware.
Tumblr media
No one gets the music starter, which is bloody typical when I've spent the whole time mucking around talking about music, but Watts wins Bristol the bonuses with aufbau on the replacement starter - She's Electric.
I can't quite believe how well that She's Electric line just worked. I hope that people haven't stopped reading because of all the Oasis puns because this one makes it all worth it. And it fell onto my lap, completely unexpectedly. The Shock of the Lightning, as it were (which is apparently another of their singles. This keeps getting better and better).
Bristol are well into the 200s now, but G&C Soldier On, although all Noble can manage is to lose five points with an incorrect interruption. G&C scored 305 in the opening match of their 2015 title run, and it looks as though they are going to be on the receiving end of a triple century here, but Bentham finally stops the rot and brings up a consolatory 50 for the Cambridge side, who are Going Nowhere.
Tumblr media
Watts (She's Electric. Yeah, I'm using it again, Whatever) brings Bristol closer to 300, and Warner takes them over it - what a performance from this quartet (as one Oasis fan may say to another at Wembley next year).
The gong sounds (I'm Outta Time). Gonville and Caius are put out of their misery, and Bristol celebrate with a Champagne Supernova (probably, I'm not really sure what that is).G&C 80 - 325 Bristol
So I just looked Champagne Supernova up, and its actually very helpful for explaining the indifference of these working class lads towards the ordinary people they're fleecing.
It's about when you're young and you see people in groups and you think about what they did for you and they did nothing. As a kid, you always believed the Sex Pistols were going to conquer the world and kill everybody in the process. Bands like the Clash just petered out. Punk rock was supposed to be the revolution but what did it do? Fuck all. The Manchester thing was going to be the greatest movement on earth but it was fuck all. When we started, we decided we weren't going to do anything for anybody, we just thought we'd leave a bunch of great songs.
We weren't going to do anything for anybody, we just thought we'd leave a bunch of great songs.
It's been there from the start - so in a way they've not betrayed any of their principles, because they decided not to have any.
So congrats to Bristol on a monstrous victory, and commiserations to G&C for having fallen victim to such a monstrous victory.
As for me, I've finished my big hike back from Glasgow, but I'm still going, slowly walking down the hall, faster than a cannonball.
PS - I did try to fit Wonderwall in, but its an entirely made up word so I struggled, and I'm chuffed enough with the She's Electric bit that I feel alright about it. Shakermaker proved too difficult, too. If I'd managed Bonehead's Bank Holiday I'd have deserved the Pulitzer.

so, i was enrolled in a vocational highschool. its the type of school that are halfway a tradeschool. its a program in my country that i quote here, meant to produce ready-made workers right out of the education system. the curriculum for every highschool major you took is different, but i personally never learn biology, geography and chemistry beyond the basics in middle school.
random aside over, for one year me and my classmates (computer programming major) had to share a classroom for normal school lessons with the guys majoring for heavy equipments engineering. one time there was an orientation presentation for them and we had to sit there as the teacher told them the kind of work theyre expected to do. so, theyre going to learn maths and physics and everything else so they know how to operate and fix industrial grade machinery like the massive trucks meant to ship coal around, mega structures to dig tunnels for mining operations.
during the last slide, the teacher showed them a slideshow of workplace deaths.. it was morbid, he said to us that death is inevitable on your line of work. its going to happen. of course we can minimize this by following safety codes, but accidents will happen.
and it doesnt register to me as weird at the time, but its stuck in my mind. like i had the vague sense that something wasnt right. and it isnt. like, he's showing kids that dying on the job, its a tragedy sure, but its normal. its fact of life. my country is an imperialized nation so they never try to lie about whats the purpose of our education. we are here to prepare for work, not to learn. and from the beginning, the oil and mining industry doesnt care about human life. and im thinking of the shares and stocks where all of those profits fueled by death eventually finds itself, in the pockets of men who might never see the inside of a oil tank. or where all the oils and minerals are heading, as i sit here waiting in a queue on the gas station to fill my motorbike even though there's an oil and coal processing site just a few hundred kilometers away still in border of my hometown.
worst part is i know this isnt the worst because someone out there who might even be younger than me is dying for the gasoline im getting, the circuit boards inside my phone, and i know one of my friends online is sleeping inside a car while office buildings and billboards stay lit and functional every day of the year fueled and powered by unimaginable amount of normalized deaths.
and im also thinking of the oil spills at the beach, the days that gets hotter and hotter every year. last year there was a gruesome car accident. an oil truck swerved off the sidewalk and killed a dozen people. its not the only major first accident in that place, as always the old complaints about public safety and roads came back for a while, and they might be satisfied that there's a barricade and a rule for large trucks not being allowed to be on the road during the day, but im also thinking of my friend who worked in the industry as a safety operator, complaining that half of the trucks are overdue for maintenance for years and the drivers license have expired but no one ever did anything about it because theyre on a constant deadline and spending time to do checks only makes the managers yell at you for missing a quota and you had to stay longer instead of getting some sleep or spending time with family, in a job where you already work 12 hours a day on average.
my point is, its all connected. just simply asking where the gas powering your car came from revealed a lot. i know this is retreading the basics but i think its good to remember how interconnected everything is. how the tragedies and genocides and social murders arent an aberration but a logical conclusion of the way society is organized. its a well oiled machine, excuse my pun. its all-encompassing, but seeing it as it is makes it easier to find its weak spot, areas where we can fight. this is why im a communist, specifically a marxist leninist, i do think workers' revolt with international proletariat society is the only way we could break free.
but anyway, all this is to brag about how i never learn geography in highschool and yet i can still name more countries and capitals than the average college student in the us so (^3^). also now that i mention it i also never learn biology but i know more about the human body than your average terf so 😌 shitty schools is not an excuse 💖

This is a stupid post about the stupid government and me being mad.
Last week I called the government's customer service line to try to confirm whether a client of mine would need to have a fingerprint appointment. Fingerprints are usually required for this type of matter, but the online system and the automatic system on the customer service line were both reading that fingerprints had already been applied to the case.
This can sometimes happen when a person has fingerprints on file and the government saves resources by just using those. They'll keep the extra filing fee you paid, of course, but they won't require you to show up at the appointment.
If they don't need an appointment, usually they send a letter confirming that. But we hadn't received one and my client was desperate to leave the country to get back to her ailing mother. I just wanted to confirm for her with customer service that the information online and on the phone was accurate and she would not need to appear for an appointment.
But because the government is trying to reduce reliance on the customer service number, the automated system has increasingly made it difficult to connect to an actual person. No matter what I said, asking the phone line questions, it kept insisting that it (the automated system) could help me or that I could find assistance online. Eventually it just said, 'If you keep requesting to speak to a service agent, I will be forced to end this call.' And that's basically what happened. I couldn't figure out a way around it and was disconnected.
My client decided to just rely on what both the phone and online system were saying and departed the country to return to her mother.
Yesterday we got her fingerprint appointment notice in the mail, scheduled for next week.
Furious at this point, I called the customer service number again, and this time I managed to get through to the service agent queue by saying there was an error on the account. The wait time was estimated as 19 minutes. I waited 30.
When I was able to speak, I told the service agent why I was calling and what I was trying to understand. At which point she told me that for the last two weeks the phone and online status systems have been broken due to a "technical issue." So the information was incorrect and my client does in fact need to appear to have her fingerprints taken.
Anyhow, working with the government sucks and I'm still mad about this today so here it is.
