@the27percent;
"Do you ever want to end it?"
To surprise an eternal thing, one given omniscience-- to make him more than merely curious or amused, but to make him attentive-- is no small feat. --Loke did so, once or twice, but Heimdall kens Loke too well now.
But this creation... he is meant to see a young woman with eyes like the void, but he kens that the void is all of her, like the quiet blackness just before the supernova, like the singularity at the center of a collapsed star, unbound by time or space or finite concepts of existence.
--He focuses on the young woman, instead. Perhaps that is how this element of eternity wishes to appear. Far be it for him to break an illusion that he hasn’t been given licence to break. Her probing question gives him much to consider, anyway. The time that passes as he does so is unknown to him, but it may have been considerable.
“What can I end?” he settles upon, finally, his voice a quiet, musing rumble. “I do not ken the process of creation well enough to transmute it into destruction. I am made Watcher, Guardian, Gatekeeper, Defender. One such as I can only be harbinger to an end, but not the end itself.
“If it is me whose end you speak of... there is no end to me.”

@internetgeek;
"Doesn't it ever get boring?"
It isn’t the first time he’s been asked this, in so many words. Mortals, it seemed, were terrified of long stretches of time in which Nothing Occurred. Heimdall doesn’t comprehend it; something is always occurring. Matter is in constant flux. And time... well, time dances on, unravelling its great and secret show piece by piece, a show that never ended.
Perhaps the show itself could grow boring, if one focused too steadily on its pattern. The same songs repeated, the same minor falls and the same major lifts, but to Heimdall, who kens all facets of reality, it is the difference in every song that he prefers. And his place in all of it... when he can see it.
“Creation, destruction, birth, death, light, dark, again and yet again,” he reflects. “That does not bore me. But sometimes I remember that I am not a part of it. That in order to observe time, I must stand outside of it. That is... burdening, then. Only sometimes.
But what of you?” Heimdall indicates the nation before him, a mortal-shaped amalgamation of spirit and will, the intangible made incarnate. “You are not human, but humanity has given you shape, form, purpose. Are you not weary?”

-- universes.
oo1.| branches of yggdrasil
Any and all things pertaining to the cosmology detailed in Norse mythology. “Myth-verse” could be an appropriate term. Heimdall remains in Himinbjörg/Asgard for the majority of this ‘verse and knows little of Midgardian life, history, cultures, etc.
oo2.| the planetary nine
Any and all things pertaining to the cosmology detailed in Norse mythology as interpreted by Marvel Comics / the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “Marvel-verse” could be an appropriate term. Heimdall has much contact with Midgard in this ‘verse and travels back and forth on occasion.
oo3.| lost avatar
Any and all things pertaining to Ezra Toren and his life on Earth in what we regard as the present day. “Human-verse” could be an appropriate term. Ezra has no knowledge of his godly incarnation, and lives a rather atheistic, lonely life as a bartender in a Brooklyn dive. This may or may not change.
(more universes to be added as needed/thought up.)
-- tags.
.crack (because being serious is overrated) .ooc (because I talk a lot) .headcanon (because sometimes I talk a lot about actual important things) .prompts (because it’s good to have all memes in one place) .flesh (because we all like to have a tag to go to when we want to see what a character looks like) .gallery (because visual representations are useful and look nice besides) .musing (because sometimes other people say it better) (fimbulvetr.) -- musings on Loke, Lie-Smith, Jötunkin, Bound God, Adversary; ey who torment Heimdall with eir very existence and provide no relief.
