little mai was born in vietnam, but her birth parents lived in poverty and made the difficult decision to put their daughter up for adoption, wanting to give her the best chance at life. being an adorable bundle of sunshine, mai was quickly scooped up by a young couple living in vancouver, canada.

her adoptive parents decided to honour her heritage by naming her maia.

maia never really realized she was different from her very caucasian parents when she was very young, they were always just mom and dad. but as she grew older, her peers began pointing out her asian features and maia’s eyes were opened to her differences.

her parents never really knew how or when to have the “ you’re adopted ” conversation, but things were made easy for them when maia came home from fourth grade one day and popped the question, but not much really changed within the sallows house after that. and as she grew older, she began to properly understand the concept and how lucky she was to have parents who chose to give her a life full of happiness and health.

the sallows own and run a local animal rescue shelter, so maia has known compassion and benevolence her whole life. she grew up playing with young puppies and kittens, and rehabilitating scared animals. the shelter was a short walk from both the sallows home and maia’s schools, so she grew up spending a lot of her free time working in the shelter.

along with her passion for animals, maia fostered a passion for make up and beauty as she grew up. throughout high school, maia began posting her beauty looks on instagram and by the time she graduated, maia had grown quite a following.

instead of going off to college like most of her friends, maia began working more at the animal shelter and growing her online presence. eventually, she found herself streaming on twitch after revealing to her followers her secret obsession with video games. that was when she skyrocketed. she actually just recently hit 500k followers on twitch and continues to grow her channel as she plays in popular among us lobbies and also streams her usual content of animal crossing, overwatch, resident evil, and more.

SOME BACKSTORY ...

growing up around strong women , gabe struggled to find himself . lacking the same domineering , passionate and sometimes overwhelming personalities . at four years old he felt lost and insecure , unsure who to be . but that was okay , because typical of the youngest of child , everyone around gabe spoilt and fussed over him . his childhood should have been spent as any other , being himself . indulging in hobbies and developing his own personality . instead , control was snatched from gabe’s hands . he was taught who to be , from his mind to his appearance . best behaviour on , he wore that mask well . pretending as if everything were fine , was something he learnt to do at a young age .

it took him nineteen years of breathing air to finally decide that particular life wasn’t for him . opting out of further studies , gabe took his high school diploma and ran . although , newfound freedom proved difficult . finding himself drowning in that lost feeling all over again . it certainly took a substantial amount of time to adapt . growing out of the guilt of no longer following others wishes for him , he spent several years making some good , but mostly poor decisions . gabe fell into every wrong crowd imaginable . the snobs , the hard partiers , the petty criminals . until he decided , he didn’t enjoy the company of people much at all . eventually gabe dropped his terrible bartending gig, after spotting a wanted staff sign on the window of a small bakery . which is when his life truly started to take shape . most days were then spent mostly alone , baking at work , baking at home . gabe had ghosted all of his friends and created a new life for himself once again , but this time it was one he alone , had decided to live .

gabe has only grown resentful of his parents , although they remain close , their relationship is conditional . gabe has learnt not to upset the status quo . therefore , he keeps most details of his life to himself . particular topics such as his education , job , and relationships are not heavily discussed and better off avoided . he is not out to his parents , knowing he would be risking a negative reaction .

lucille aminah sheridan was born on april 12, 1997 in brooklyn, new york to yasmiin ahmed and kieran sheridan. it was a difficult labor, over twenty-four hours, and yasmiin suffered obstructive labor. she died in childbirth, but the baby miraculously made it out alive and unharmed. kieran, in shock, named her lucille aminah after their grandparents, but the nurses were the first to call her ‘lucky’. 

lucky’s childhood was an interesting one, to say the least. to cope with the loss of his partner, kieran lost himself in drinking and drugs. lucky was generally left on her own most of the time to adventure around bed-stuy. she was rosy-cheeked, giggling lightning, zigzagging down bedford avenue. their family aren’t exactly well off, not with kieran’s debts hanging over their heads, but lucky finds ways sprinkled throughout her lonely existence to entertain herself: it was the neighborhood store owners and the families in her apartment complex who would allow her to hang around and not go home, the pizza parlor that will let her bum a slice, the skate park where the older boys ruffle her hair, and most importantly music. 

lucky is a bright and creative kid, but she didn’t generally excel in school; it’s too much sitting around, too many rules, and lucky has a bit of an authority problem. but she took to music like nothing else -- learning piano, guitar, singing, and music production. when lucky is fourteen, she wins a scholarship to the packer collegiate institute in historic (read: wealthy) brooklyn heights. for the first time, she is suddenly and painfully aware of her well-worn clothes, the way her father shows up to concerts and parent-teacher conferences with scotch on his breath. through sheer drive alone, she propels herself to berklee college of music on a full scholarship. she graduates with a degree in music production and decides to move as far away as possible; after all, she’s always loved an adventure. 

she’s now been living in apartment 2b at opal apartments for two years now and she genuinely loves both the apartment complex and vancouver. she has regular dj nights at downtown bars and she’s been able to string together steady gigs and production opportunities to scrape together an existence that she’s happy with. 

personality wise, she is a CLASSIC aries -- she’s short-tempered and reckless, will rush into anything she believes is an adventure. impulse control is at a -1000.
