finally the tart lore (Creatures? Mission Control? idk the title honestly)
@yuraslefttoe
The 'story' starts with Privateer, where Europa sings about someone getting picked for a space mission-- I originally assumed they were the one picked but NO!! It's Andrei!! Who I believe is their lover, and their relationship had a huge falling out because Europa saw him living orbit as a suicide mission.
Draw 5 is when the story picks up, where Andrei discovers alien life on the spaceship and tries to communicate with it, but can't because it exists on another wavelength. He chases it down until he realizes its been killing off other members of the crew, and then panics looking for an escape pod to get away from the deathtrap.
The next song would be Theory of I, where Andrei does successfully make it into the pod, but has no guarantied way to get back to Earth. "The last word out of my mouth seems to be Sorry" is a direct connection to Privateer, which is what clued me into the two being the couple that breaks up at the start. "Spinning out of your orbit as I fall into the surface" makes me think that Andrei knows that even if he did make it back to Earth, he would surely die in a crash landing. "(I know) The reason why it always fails at the worst of times" seems to imply space farers dying spontaneously is a recurring thing, and likely why Europa knew this would lead to his death. The most interesting line though:
Hey Ground, can you believe this? That there's nothing here but Demons?
The thing that attacked the ship is paranormal in nature, and knowing that he is going to die regardless, Andrei makes a pact with it-- shown by the glitched out hand. His goal in this is to carry his voice back to Earth, both to communicate the danger but also to attempt to reconnect with Europa since his guilt over what happens makes it impossible to let go. Literally becoming "Ghostly Static", his body is dead but his mind is carried through waves.
Oh and that Demon? It's Misha. Misha is not a human.
Kerosene is his perspective on the murder spree happening on either Andrei's ship, or just any of the ones that have come in contact with him over the years. While I've figured that part out, the lyrics themselves allude me... who is he singing to? When has he ever saved anyone? Is it in reference to Andrei becoming static? Overall I would say Misha is very much an Enigma...
SPEAKING OF!!! The song Enigma seems to be about Misha being stuck in a time loop, specifically that the song itself is a time loop because every time it replays everything starts all over again. He doesn't mind this though, he relishes in being able to exist for three minutes and then do it all over again because otherwise he would be dead. In fact, I think Enigma is more about establishing each song as its own time loop. Which is part of why when Kerosene happens doesn't really matter, just that its about Misha enacting violence against spacemen-- heck, each time you listen it could be another ship, another repeat of the same war crimes, where time and place doesn't matter.
And umm, honestly, I don't really know if Maya plays any big roles in all of this. She's just around, somewhere, having a good time killing people.
