im reading Aria, and i feel like i kinda have an issue with the sci-fi theme, but i cant really decide
#personal#the fact most sci-fi has humans leave earth bc smth bad happened (it got ruined/maybe some apocalypse/whatever) but this doesnt have that#but so far theres no explanation abt mars/aqua and apparently its technologically behind earth for some reason#there were a couple nostalgia based chapters that felt like they were emphasizing taking time to smell the roses#but it felt weird bc it used a grandpa to complain abt how things are less convenient#idk some things dont make sense. its like an escapist thing of if u... made an island in the sky or smth but then it somehow#became backwards... w/o a reason? or the reason is for the aesthetic?? so it kinda feels like a tourist trap#when u talk abt colonization/settling on earth u cant avoid indigenous ppl but for sci-fi other planets u cant avoid what#happened to earth. so theres no problem in aria or smth. ppl just decided 'lets make mars a paradise :)' and im sure everyone gets to go#or??? idk it feels very escapist fantasy to me so far. i can handle a little social issues
