Awakening the sleeping giant 🚗💨⚡🦅💖👨‍🔧 The ole T-Bird is a beautiful car no doubt but after 66 years of cruisin' on this earth she definitely needed some TLC 😛🤣😂 Crazy to me this beauty sat in an air conditioned garage for the last 50 years with only 29K on the clock... Even more crazy than that in my mind over the last 30 years this car was barely driven 2,700 miles 🤯 In some ways sitting can be more damaging than being in constant use as caskets, seals, hoses, and even metals start to deteriorate over the decades even when kept out of the elements ☔🌈🌦️ This Thunderbird was no exception to the rule! After getting her home first order of business was throwing her up on jacks and disassembling the engine as much as possible while still sitting inside the car to be able to clean up all the gunk & goo from the old style oils used in the 50s-80s which were no comparison to modern day oils with our additives or even full synthetic oils that we have today that are light years ahead of the power curve when it comes to protection as well as internal cleaning 🧼🚿🪥🫧 Next order of business was to replace all the seals & do an engine oil flush. 100 miles later out with the new synthetic oil for the flush & in with the #Amsoil Z-Rod high zinc dream oil. Amsoil made a massive difference in the sound coming from the mechanical lifters on these old valves 👌 Afterwards I rebuilt the whole carburetor with an ethanol friendly gasket set but still only run 100% gas whenever possible ⛽ While I had the old girl on jacks I disassembled the three speed manual transmission & cleaned up the gears as much as I could. Afterwards I replaced that oil with Amsoil full synthetic gear oil. Also did the same in the rear differential 🎉 One of my favorite parts of the 56 T-Birds is the fish bowl instrument cluster. Mine was needing some TLC so we fully disassembled her replacing a bunch of light bulbs & rheostats to ultimately get this bad girl lighting up brighter than ever! Looks so boss cruising down the road at sunset 🌇🎉 Don't believe the TV shows y'all. Ya can't restore an entire car in 7 days...
