Okay whether you believe Orelvis’ reasoning or not, don’t start with the whole “22 needing fertility drugs?” thing because your age has nothing to do with whatever your body is capable or incapable of doing. The Toronto Blue Jays made their annual trek down to Fort Myers this afternoon. A group of young Jays hitters were in the lineup as the Twins tried to work in some regulars. The Jays bats got to work in the third as Danny Jansen lined a two-out double to left. Otto Lopez walked and Specer Horwitz hit a run-scoring single to right. Orelvis Martinez lined an RBI single to right and the Jays had a two-run lead after three innings of play. Toronto got back to work in the fifth when Danny Jansen and Otto Lopez singled. Spencer Horwitz hit a sacrifice fly to center and the Jays extended their lead to three. Yusei Kikuchi ran with the three-run lead and threw five shutout innings. The Jays bullpen did the rest as Thomas Hatch threw a perfect sixth, Zach Thompson retired five men and Nate Pearson got the last four outs. The Jays shutout the Twins today at Hammond Stadium.
-Final Thoughts- Tyler Mahle got knocked around today and was stretched out. He went 4 2/3 innings and allowed three runs on seven hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Jordan Brink got out of the fifth, Griffin Jax struck out one in the sixth, and Caleb Thielbar had a scoreless seventh. Jhoan Duran walked one in a clean eighth and Jorge Alcala had a 1-2-3 ninth. Elliot Soto had three of the team’s four hits. The Twins hit 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. Today’s game was a quick two hours and twenty-four minutes. Tomorrow, the team heads up to Tampa to play the Yankees. Pablo Lopez faces Gerrit Cole on a Friday matinee.
