I took a quick trip to Jersey for my cousin’s wedding on Thursday. The whole thing was INSANE. Like. So fancy. So, so fancy. And we are not a fancy family? So it was kind of surreal. There was SO MUCH food. AN ABSURD AMOUNT OF FOOD. I cannot adequately describe the amount of food there was. Most of the weddings I go to these days, the weddings of my friends, are held in botanical gardens and on farms and at apple orchards and they’re all super laidback and borderline diy and shit, so it was very culture shocky to be at this very ~*~produced~*~ and fancy and elaborate event. There were at least five photographers and three videographers. And, I reiterate, this is not the MO for my family, we are not at all fancy (or that well off, for the most part).

ANYWAY. It was Disney-themed and my cousin looked beautiful and her new husband’s family was all very nice. My brother and I were seated with my cousins, which is unusual because the two of us are the oldest by a significant amount (I’m eight years older than the bride and twelve years older than the youngest cousin), but it was fun. I spent most of the time chatting with the two cousins I went to Orlando with last year and my brother. 

Also eating. I did a lot of eating. And drinking. Thank you, open bar.

Mostly, I wish I had thought to take a picture of my outfit because I looked very cute.

I am home now! And tired! And overthinking an interaction with the girl I like and being very hungry and watching Miss Fisher and finishing up a book for a podcast tomorrow.

Stephanie and Elizabeth were married last November at The Grand Bohemian and we are still in awe of the energy and thoughtfulness they put into their amazing event. These photos captured by the talented Leah Langley show us all the colorful accents of the night including the LOVE letters designed and cut out of foam block by our very own Lee Forrest.  The letters were not an easy task as they were about five feet tall each!  All of the flowers were natural colors--nothing was dyed.  Lee and his team used approximately twenty dozen orange, red, and yellow roses--and roughly 100 stems of lime green, dark blue, and dark purple hydrangea to create the rainbow stripes on the letters.   The letters were anchored to the pool with mono filament so that they spelled out the word "LOVE" in the center of the pool.   The 49 victims of the Pulse tragedy were honored with 49 white Fuji mums, which resembled small starbursts and floated freely around the letters.
