Lenses For Wedding Videography
It's true that the camera plays a very significant role in not only wedding shoots but for any sort of shoots. However, one can never undermine the impact of lenses in getting the desired output. Many popular wedding videographers in Orlando have been experimenting with a wide range of lenses for both DSLR and mirrorless cameras, lets checkout few useful lenses for wedding shoots.
Tumblr media
50mm lens
The 50mm lens is very popular amongst the professionals and the beginners. It is an incredibly versatile lens and is known for its ability to get the best composition and framing. Since it comes with a fixed focal length, you may have to take a few steps forward or backwards to get it right. It's perfect for capturing all those candid moments of the bridal party goofing off and laughing. Though it’s not as wide as the 35mm, which can prove beneficial if you are shooting in a confined space like small bedrooms.
During the ceremony, the 50mm lens can capture great details like table tops, the cake, toasts, seating cards, and everything in between. As compared to the other lenses, the 50mm is designed to draw more focus on the couple.
85mm lens
A champion amongst all portrait lenses, the 85mm is the most used lens for portraits owing to its capability to perform in low light conditions. With this lens, it's pretty easier to work from a distance and still get a jaw-dropping image in dark light conditions.
This too is a fixed focal length lens and thus videographers have to move around a bit to adjust their composition. The 85mm will blur out the background and give you a crisp image of just the couple with a creamy bokeh in the background. Its ability to churn out bokeh is simply phenomenal. One major flip side of this lens though is the weight. Strolling around with this lens during a rigorous shoot schedule can be quite tiring.
70-200mm lens
Almost every wedding videographers in Orlando will recommend the 70-200mm lens for wedding shoots simply for its ability to capture some nice close-up shots as well as quickly zooming out to capture the whole bridal party. A very important lens if you tend to shoot a lot of big weddings. With this lens in your kitty, you can hide behind the walls and shoot some candid moments from a distance without grabbing the eyeballs of the guests.
100mm Macro
Although there is no compulsion to have this macro lens in your armoury, however, if you are planning to capture footage of the wedding rings or get some finer details of the dress or other accessories then a 100mm macro is the perfect one for this role. You’ll certainly get some great footage with little details of this stuff, but apart from this, there is no major use of this lens. It's not a bad idea though to have them if you can afford to shell out some extra bucks but its utility is quite limited for wedding videography.
