by LannyCBeng
Alexander Gabriel Claremont -Diaz had to watch him grow up in a loving hard-working family that would love and support him. On March 27, 2005, the day he was born, he was changed and grew up as Alejandro Torrez, the son of an unemployed immigrant addicted to drugs and a Mexican who was born in the USA but lived her entire life in Mexico, an addict and alcoholic who was never at home, instead his older sister (for a year) raised him and rejected everything for him and his siblings.
What will happen when he meets the new president's daughter?
Will many secrets come to light?

Published: August 15, 2023
GLENDALE, Ariz. — Emanuel Navarrete (38-1, 31 KOs) wanted an all-Mexican war to take his career to new heights, and that’s exactly what he got.
Navarrete defended his WBO junior lightweight world title via unanimous decision in a back-and-forth slugfest against Oscar Valdez (31-2, 23 KOs) Saturday evening in front of 10,246 fans at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
Navarrete’s reach and punch output were difficult puzzles for Valdez to solve. The 32-year-old native of Nogales, Mexico, tried to find openings for counterpunches from his high guard stance, using his head and feet to avoid Navarrete’s sudden bursts of combos.
But as the rounds progressed, Navarrete’s power made a difference as his left uppercuts and hooks caused swelling below Valdez’s right eye. In the fifth and sixth rounds, Valdez started to connect with counter left hooks. In the 10th, a war broke out in the center of the ring, with both fighters exchanging to win the final rounds.
Navarrete, however, kept control of the fight in the championship rounds and retained his title with scores of of 116-112, 118-110, and 119-109.
Navarrete said, “I feel happy to have been part of this card and of this next great chapter of Mexican boxing history. I am happy and appreciate Oscar for the great fight that we delivered.
“There was some inflammation in my right hand. And the more I used it, the more it hurt. But I had to overcome it.
“I think the people can best talk about what they saw. They saw the fight tonight. I was here fighting with Valdez. And I feel good. Thank God, I won. I appreciate what he did in the ring. He is a Mexican warrior. If the people want a rematch, they will demand it.”
Valdez said, “He is a warrior. I tried my best. We gave it our best. He is a warrior. He is a true champion. I’m sorry I disappointed everyone. I feel terrible. I wanted to give you all a great fight. I hope you enjoyed the fight. I hope to return strong.”
Lindolfo Delgado Cruises Past Jair Valtierra
Rising junior welterweight contender Lindolfo Delgado (18-0, 13 KOs) scored a one-sided 10-round unanimous decision victory against Jair Valtierra (16-3, 8 KOs) in tonight’s co-feature.
Both boxed cautiously and evaded combinations with head movement and footwork. However, Delgado was move active with his output, landing combinations as well as counter hooks to the body.
Delgado remained undefeated with scores of 98-92 and 99-91 2x.
Richard Torrez Jr. Tallies First-Round KO
U.S. Olympic silver medalist Richard Torrez Jr. (6-0, 6 KOs) needed less than one round to knock out Willie Jake Jr. (11-4-2, 3 KOs) in tonight’s televised opener. Jake lunged forward with wide shots, but Torrez was able to time his counterattack and land a right hook that sent Jake face-first to the canvas.
Jake rose to his feet, but the damage had been done. Torrez swarmed him with heavy shots, and referee Robert Hoyle stopped the contest at 1:22.
Torrez said, “It’s great to be back in the ring after so much time off. There are still things we need to work on, and I know that. We’re going back to the gym tomorrow.
“It’s up to my team to decide when my next fight is. They tell me to jump, and I say, ‘How high?’ I’m just excited to follow the process.”
Lightweight: Emiliano Fernando Vargas (6-0, 5 KOs) defeated Jorge Luis Marquez Alvarado (3-6-1, 2 KOs) via second-round TKO. Alvarado lunged towards Vargas, who responded with left hooks. After finding his rhythm, Vargas began teeing off on Alvarado, dropping him twice before finishing the bout. Time of stoppage: 2:17.
Heavyweight: Southpaw Antonio Mireles (8-0, 7 KOs) scored a hard-earned sixth-round stoppage victory against Dajuan Calloway (7-3, 7 KOs). After an impressive start from Calloway, Mireles began to take control of the fight with his jab. In the sixth, a prolonged assault from Mireles forced referee Wes Melton to stop the fight. Time of stoppage: 1:38.
Middleweight: In an all-Phoenix battle, Sergio Rodriguez (8-0-1, 7 KOs) blasted out Eduardo Ayala (9-4-1, 3 KOs) via second-round knockout. Rodriguez landed an overhand right that sent Ayala to the canvas. Ayala rose to his feet on wobbly legs, but a quick flurry from Rodriguez forced the referee to end the contest. Time of stoppage: 1:02.
Junior Welterweight: Southern California product Ricardo Ruvalcaba (10-0-1, 9 KOs) defeated Adrian Orban (6-4, 4 KOs) via second-round TKO. Ruvalcaba dropped Obran with a hook to the body in the first round and dropped him twice with more body shots in the second round to end the fight. Time of stoppage: 1:11.

Valdez to challenge WBO junior lightweight world champion Emanuel Navarrete on Saturday, August 12, at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, LIVE on ESPN
LAKE TAHOE – Mexico’s two-division world champion, Oscar Valdez, is more motivated than ever for what could mark the beginning of a historic rivalry.
Valdez will challenge three-division world champion and countryman Emanuel Navarrete for his WBO junior lightweight world title on Saturday, August 12, at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
Navarrete-Valdez, Raymond Muratalla-Diego Torres and Richard Torrez Jr.-Willie Jake Jr. will be broadcast live on ESPN, ESPN Deportes and ESPN+ at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
Promoted by Top Rank, tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster.com.
Valdez (31-1, 23 KOs), from Nogales, represented Mexico at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. The 32-year-old captured his first world title in July 2016 with a second-round stoppage win over Matias Rueda. In February 2021, he became a two-division world champion with a 10th-round knockout against Miguel Berchelt. Valdez suffered his first loss to Shakur Stevenson in April 2022 and is coming off a unanimous decision victory against Adam Lopez in May.
Navarrete (37-1, 31 KOs) captured the WBO junior featherweight world title by defeating Isaac Dogboe in December 2018. After five defenses, he moved up to featherweight and defeated Ruben Villa for the vacant WBO title in October 2020. In February, the 28-year-old native of San Juan Zitlaltepec became a three-division world champion when he stopped Liam Wilson in nine rounds.
After a recent training session in Lake Tahoe, this is what Valdez said:
“I’m excited. It’s getting close. It’s one of the most important fights of my career because it means everything for me to come back and win that title. I feel blessed to have this opportunity, and I’m taking advantage of it every single day so that I can accomplish my dream.”
“We all know that Navarrete has an awkward style. We might not have the perfect sparring that can emulate his style. But we try to imitate him in the mittwork and strategy. He’s not your typical fighter that throws straight shots.”
“I like training here in Lake Tahoe. It’s isolated from everybody. We’re up in the mountains. We’re training in great weather and at a great altitude. I love it here. It’s nice and relaxing. There’s no anxiety here. There’s clear air. It’s perfect for being focused on camp.”
“I always tell people that I grew up during the era of Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera. Those two fighters inspired me to be the fighter that I am today. So, to leave something similar in history would mean the world to me.”
“I’m more motivated for this fight than any other fight I’ve been in. People are excited about this fight. Everywhere I go, I get the same question: ‘When are you going to fight Vaquero?’ And that’s because we all know that a war is coming.”

Will several Olympic Boxing hopefuls now look to turn pro?
With the postponement of the Tokyo Olympic for July, the next logical question for a couple of prominent men’s amateur boxers is when will they turn pro? And, might that be later this summer, instead of waiting for whenever the Olympics can happen? Arguably, the most prominent U.S. fighter is Norfolk, Virginia native, Keyshawn Davis. And, the 21-year-old amateur star in the 138 lb. division put on social media Tuesday that he’s looking to get paid to fight.
Olympic lovers from all over the world are called to book Olympic 2020 tickets from our online platforms for Olympic Tickets. Olympic Boxing lovers can book Olympic Boxing Tickets from our ticketing marketplace exclusively on reduced prices.
Further, Davis (above), a former national Golden Gloves champ (2017) who was second at last year’s World Championships and Pan American games, talked to ESPN.com boxing insider, Steve Kim. And, he elaborated on his social media post about the intrigue and possible timeline for turning pro.
I’m not going to even lie; I was thinking about the Olympic since I was 7 years old before I even started boxing. I didn’t even know what I wanted to be in the Olympic for, I just wanted to do it. I honestly thought I would be in the Olympic for the track.
There’s a lot of people saying that I already fight with no headgear, why waste another year fighting with no headgear in the amateurs, risking getting cut and stuff like that? I already have big options of going pro and being more well off than I am now.
There’s no rush to make that decision as all professional sports worldwide have ground to a halt for at least the foreseeable near future. Further, Davis’s marketability would go up, if he could win a Gold Medal in the delayed Tokyo Olympic.
This is something that helped former recent fighters’ careers like Andre Ward, who won Gold in the 2004 Athens Games. And, the most prominent case is going all the way back to Oscar De La Hoya winning Gold in the 1992 Barcelona Summer Games that launched his early pro career and huge money for fights early. Back to Davis, he’s arguably the most decorated fighter on the Team USA Squad that had to cancel their Olympic qualifying tournament for Argentina that was scheduled.
However, there are at least two other prominent names to also keep an eye on as to whether they will stay as amateurs or because of the limbo of Tokyo Olympic, go ahead and potentially turn pro like Davis? The world caught up to the United States in amateur boxing and medals have been hard to come by. The last male to win an Olympic medal was Deontay Wilder taking Bronze in the 2008 Beijing Fames.
They are 20-year-old Super Heavyweight Richard Torrez of Tulare, CA, who is a former National Golden Gloves champ and was third in the Pan Am Games last year. Plus, there’s 21-year-old Welterweight Delante “Tiger” Johnson of Cleveland, Ohio, who a former National Junior Olympic champ and was also third in the Pan Am Games last year.
USA Boxing has been prominent going back to Muhammad Ali has won a Gold medal in 1960 and coming forward to the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Games that had the likes of Mark Breland, Mildred Taylor, Henry Tillman and Pernell “Sweet Pea” Whitaker all winning gold that year.
