admittedly, sehun isn’t exactly the sporty type. he would always prefer more hours of sleep than extra time to sweat and pull muscles (because in his defense, hours of practice is already doing a good job of keeping them in shape). this time, it was more of his curiosity that had lead him to want to participate in some of the sport events in this year’s ISAC. there was a good chunk of participants, he notes, most of which are from newly debuted groups, but he’s glad to see that he knows most of them.

it was only natural for him to sought out some of the familiar faces he’s able to spot, skipping over to have a chat while they watch the sports events that have started. at some point he finds himself glued to johnny’s side - he was able to see the older male during promotions, but it was brief - so he's decided going around the venue as he clings onto johnny's arm is a way to go. besides, they're going to be competing for archery together later.

"fun fact, my aim sucks even after the short training," he admits out of the blue. he looks in front of them, intrigued at how many people have gathered. must be a popular sports event. "if you get the chance, please record my very possible missed shots. it'll be hilarious!"

sehun guesses it isn't exactly a secret how he absolutely enjoys getting any kind of affection from his members, so when he sensed woohyun sitting next to him and snuggling closer, he thinks the way he grins and snuggled closer to the older male was justified. everyone says it's the maknae syndrome - he's been the youngest for so long that the sudden changes with the members didn't register for him fast enough to adjust - so now he's convex's fake noodle maknae. not that he minds. he quite likes how it sounds somehow.

"hyung~" he sing-songs, the grin still on his face. this comeback has been as hectic as their usual promotion schedules, the only difference is that they now know how important these short naps are. sleep is sleep, rest is rest, no matter how short they are. members can be seen occupying every free space they can fit in to sneak in a few minutes of shut eye. "i did, thank you! my appetite is good today," he says with a smile, "but it's probably because we practiced a lot and I'm just hungry," he laughs.

"I'm excited to perform, too!" he chirps. "it feels like it's been forever since we've been onstage, not to mention I've missed interacting with the fans!" was it possible for his grin to grow bigger? probably. "they seem to enjoy the comeback, too! it only pumps me up even more!"

with promotions in swing, woohyun falls back into the usual habits he has at the broadcast station. which means a lot of sleep at any point he can in between the usual broadcast priorities. after breakfast that he scarfs down, he’s quick to find somewhere to rest up a bit before they move into second rehearsal and getting ready for the live show. he needs all the energy he can get, especially with how challenging the dance has been for him. he finds an open space next to sehun, and plops down on it. he’s subtle for a moment, shifting closer to the younger before he all but collapses against his side, chuckling tiredly.

“sehun-ah~” he sings, reaching out to give the other a big hug. though tired, he’s still happy to give some affection to his younger members. “did you eat well?” he loosens his hug, but he still leans up against the other, snuggling closer as he gets comfortable. he hums, resting his head on sehun’s shoulder and lets his eyes trail over the others milling about the room. some are still eating, some are goofing around with staff– and some are taking the chance to rest as well. “first rehearsal sounded good. i’m excited to perform…” he trails off into a yawn.

convex 1st win: don’t wanna cry - september 15, 2020

everyone had been excited for this comeback. it was a different take from their usual sound. the concept itself is different, but it was easy to say how much fun everyone had preparing for the album. everyone had been excited. it’s only been a week of promotions when they were able to grab their first win for the comeback. naturally, they were surprised, were plenty happy and just overall thankful for the fans’ support. they’ve been here before, yes, but the feeling of all their hard work being recognized, sort of, through this win, just never changes.

the tears are familiar and present - he’s not sure who it was he had thrown his arms over their shoulders, but it felt comforting to be side hugging some of the members - but he does, as their leader delivers his acceptance speech. it’s in that moment that despite the excitement, he had been nervous, too. maybe it was because the concept is something new not even for the fans but for them as well. but then again, when he thinks about it, it only means they’re growing, that they’re continuously learning and discovering new things to show the fans and the world. it was a welcomed change, he muses, and knowing the most people along with the fans have received these changes with open arms makes him sigh in relief.

it’s moments like these that he can confidently say all their hard work was worth it. all the stressful tears, all those late night practice that bleeds into the wee hours of morning, all the anxiety that the new line up and changes have brought during preparations (because new members meant changes in choreography) - it all came to this. all their hard work really did pay off. the urge to hug all the members and pat them on the back for a job well done was a little too strong, but he settles with clinging to the members standing beside him.

everything makes this first win feel a little more special. sweeter, somehow.

is it a little too much to ask for more wins after this? maybe the next few weeks of promotions? or until their official schedules were over? probably, but he’s still hoping. for now, he mentally records this moment and keeps it safely to look back to in the future.

the schedule for the month has been announced, and everyone is aware how busy september is going to be for everyone. at some point, sehun has been hit with an urge to do something to express his support for their sibling group, heartz. naturally, he asked the members first, telling him about the idea and he's glad to know almost everyone is happy to help him push through!

it's nothing big, really, just something simple. the picnic, he finds, really was such a breath of fresh air for everyone and he wanted to do something similar to that. it’s a good way to take it slow, even for a moment, and have fun before they face the busy month head on again. he'll be dropping by the heartz' practice room with the members (hoseok, sangyeon, taeyong, jace and hyun) during lunch break to bring some food, coffee and some energy drinks for the girls and wish them good luck for their preparations for the month!

Our guide rests in the shade of the Vherr-osh, the great sunspires. These glittering towers are composed of thousands of tiny chambers like the units of a compound eye, the inside of each lined with a photosynthetic “retina” protected from the extremes of the subarctic winters and summers.

The units are capped by a convex silica lens that refracts light into the chamber to maximize surface area for photosynthesis, while protecting the delicate living cells inside. The reflective lining beneath the lens thickens at the height of summer to prevent overexposure, and is also responsible creates a striking violet iridescence. The inhospitable region where they grow is seldom visited by birgs, though just a few centuries before, these lenses were scraped away by the hundreds of thousands to make all manner of decorative windows, sun catchers, even primitive spectacles and telescopes. To this day, some Twowi nobility covet the iridescent crystals as an exotic and expensive jewelry.

the moment he feels the hug jaehyuns entire body vibrates and then freezes– when he had left his bed he hadn’t noticed when sehun had left his, nor had he noticed that the older’s bed was empty. the fact that he sneaks himself up behind him doesn’t help jaehyun’s moment of fright. the seconds he hears the familiar voice jaehyun loosens up and exhales, finally relaxing properly.

“hyung,” he utters quietly under his breath, for some reason he suddenly felt like a child getting caught something he wasn’t allowed to do. thinking back on it he probably wasn’t allowed, knowing that he should tell their manager… and he would, maybe just text the older and tell him that he couldn’t sleep and that he went for a short walk just to clear his head. before he had gotten that far jaehyun had gotten caught by sehun, now he was looking at the floor and his lip slightly pouted, “i– no where,” he tries to say but who was he really fooling.

there he was wearing his shoes and a cap to cover his face, with a light jacket in his hand in case it got chilly– “i just couldn’t sleep,” he confesses hesitantly, despite himself. honesty was always the best policy, right? though he knew there were situations where he truly shouldn’t be completely honest, this was not one of those situations.

“i kinda just wanted to go for a short walk.”

there were rules every single one of them were expected to follow. but there are times that the simplest, and admittedly harmless of rules feels too restricting. he understands how uncomfortable it feels, the rare times that it feels like time is running a little too fast and he needs to stop and breathe. a small part of him tells him that maybe it's what jaehyun is feeling. it hasn't been long since their promotions schedule ended, after all. so he waits patiently for a reply, not wanting to make jaehyun uncomfortable. it was the last thing he wants.

"ah, i understand having a hard time sleeping," he says, giving jaehyun a small smile. it was, after all, the very reason why he's huddled back in the kitchen with a glass of milk. but sleep seems to be a little too evasive for them both (if not everyone) tonight. he chuckles. maybe a stroll is exactly what they need after their hectic schedules. a little quiet. some time to breathe.

"a short work does sound good, to be honest," he agrees with a smile before he stands up with a groan (his bones are tired, please don't judge). "okay, let sehun oppa take you out on a walk! give me a second to grab my stuff," he chirps in an attempt to make the other smile and walks back to their room to grab himself a cap, put on a hoodie and head back out to wear his shoes. "I'll send manager hyung a short message that we'll just be taking a short walk and that we'll be back soon, so we should be good to go," he smiles and opens the door a bit and looks back at jaehyun. "shall we?"

cheering for you-*

the idol star athletics championship was an event was the perfect chance to catch up with old friends as much as make new ones. it was also the perfect opportunity to interact with their fans. they’re used to all the cheering, yes. it’ll probably make him sounds old, but this really just gives him that nostalgic feeling of being back in high school, participating in sports event for the school’s pride. but that was the thing - the school event in school were focused only on sports. of course, he had seen PUBG in the list of events, but he knows his nonexistent skills in mobile or PC games.

that doesn’t mean he’s completely clueless, but that also means he knows himself well enough not to try and participate. he makes sure to be there and cheer as much as consta does for the members participating in the PUBG category.

"jace hyuuuung~" sehun calls, wrapping an arm around the older male's shoulder. jace's growth spurt is probably one of his favorites. his hyung is perfect height for extra cuddles now. "you have to teach me how to play this game properly when we get back. this looks fun!"

convex has been busy the past few days (and it will continue until mid may) due to promotions for their comeback. they did a lot more reality shows and radio shows this time, too, and he's happy for the opportunities to promote, no matter how tight it makes their schedules are to the point where they get little time to rest. but he's also grateful for chances like this, for an extra opportunity to promote their group and themselves as idols. it's a new experience and working with only two of his hyungs, it's fun.

"i feel like i should be sitting down and studying for another exam or something," he replies to jinwook, chuckling as he moves to grab one of the notebooks laid out on the desk as part of their props. the whole set makes him feel nervous, like he's back at school waiting for their proctor. he feels like he'll get in trouble for loitering around with the hyungs. he chuckles at the thought. "but you know, instead of waiting for a terror teacher, we have a kinder one like miss hyuna," he giggles. he may or may not be blushing at the thought, too. it's a boyish thing to say, but really, who wouldn't like having a kinder professor, right?

"ah, I'm so excited! i like the cute and colorful concept of the set. it's nice, but I'm also very nervous," he chuckles, not knowing exactly where the nervousness is coming from, but there he is. "i also like your ouftis!" he says, looking looking over at both his hyungs, visibly satisfied. "my handsome hyungs! do you think they'll let us keep some of them this time? this jacket looks awesome on you, cheollie hyung!"

200504 |  like anyone else, jinwook treasures the rest days in the middle of a promotion cycle, but he can’t complain about the extra schedule this time. with only three members present there’s much less idle time, so the day flies by. it’s comfortable, too, no matter how many teasing grins and nudges they’ve given each other during the cheesy scenes with the actress playing their love interest. this whole experience has been comfortable, really, and jinwook can’t stop feeling grateful about the opportunity. a few extra early mornings seems like such a small price to pay.

it’s only once they’re waiting for the crew to set up the exam room that jinwook finally breaks out his whiny voice. “i know it’s a joke, but this setting is giving me flashbacks.” he chuckles, to offset the fact that he’s way too old for the scene to actually be sparking anxiety in his stomach. muscle memory, or something. jinwook wishes his body had this kind of recall for convex’s old choreography. he bumps his shoulder into sehun’s. “what do you think, sehunnie? you took the exams the most recently between us.” jinwook scans the room to see if their co-star is within earshot. once the coast is clear, he acts out a dreamy sigh. “i guess it can’t be so bad, if someone like miss hyuna will be the proctor~”

modeling is something sehun finds himself enjoying, and so whenever he's given an opportunity to do projects like this, he gets excited - happy. it's always a new concept everytime, and the chance to get more experience and to learn something new is always exciting to him. this time around, he gets to work with NYLON for a fashion pictorial. the nerves are there, of course, knowing it's one of the well known magazines. he's been briefed about the concept and the feel of how the pictorial is supposes to go, and he's definitely curious, not to mention excited on how it will go.

there had been a time where he had been awkward in front of the camera. he was stiff, his expression too unnatural and bland that all he could really pull off at first was a blank, resting bitch face (as most people have described it). slowly, he finds himself relaxing more in front of the camera. his expressions have become more natural, and he doesn't blank out on what type of poses to do during the shoot. but maybe it's on the concept? somehow, he likes this project. he feels comfortable, and so the shoot goes smoother than he had initially anticipated.

it's a good thing he had agreed to get back into shape with hyun, too or he wouldn't have felt as confident in his own skin, specially when he had to wear a top with the buttons undone (admittedly, a personal favorite) in one part of the shoot. the seductive (or is it sleepy?) look seems to work well with him as well, something he's very happy to hear, and so he bites on the necklace he's given to wear as an accessory, and is quite glad on how well the photos have turned out. it's the pastel color palette that gets to him, too. it's easy on the eyes - refreshing - even for him. but at some point, the awkwardness creeps back up. he starts giggling when he's told he needed to lie down for a part of the shoot, but he does as told.

sehun lies down, tries to get back into the mood they had been into the whole day. there were moments he needed to just lie still, partly to calm himself down before he burst out giggling and partly to think of ways on how to project himself in front of the camera. he wasn't sure how long it took, but eventually he's given the green light - we got it! - and then he's being pulled up onto his feet. finally, done for the day.

all in all, it was fun. the raw shots were beautiful, and as usual he asks for permission to take a photo of a few before he's given the green light to go. he bows politely to everyon, thanking everyone for their hard work. he can't wait to see the final product on NYON's august issue.

convex august schedule: a trip to los angeles, california august 10 ~ 13, 2020

an overseas trip is always fun, and knowing they’re going to shoot some parts of their comeback album in a different country is like the sweetest cherry on top. of course, thoughts of getting a chance to explore the place when they finish their schedules are there (he’d be lying to himself if he said he didn’t think of that). he wants to buy a lot stuff to bring back home. but for now, he’s excited for their music video shoot.

sehun wasn’t lying when he said this album is a little different to their previous ones. this one seem softer - the concept itself is softer - and more mellow. it’s one of the main reasons for his previous worries at the start of their preparations. there were less opportunities to rap, and he’s challenged into singing more than he’s ready for. but he’s glad he’s able to do it successfully, he’s continuously learning and growing. sometimes, everything still feels too surreal. but then the commotion of the production team and managers hits him and okay, wow, it’s still real.

at some point, sehun briefly wonders if mellow, sad songs prompts the singer to wear soft knitted or long sleeved tops in nude colors. it seems to be a trend somehow like those albums released during autumn. but isn’t it summer? nonetheless, he enjoys the rather airy clothes they have on. it’s close to a style he personally likes, so he isn’t in the slightest bit complaining. it’s tricky, however, to shoot on a place with too much sand, but it’s also fun. the sand goes into everything - in his hair, inside his clothes, and mostly in his eyes because the wind. the stylists are probably having a hard time too because he tears up a lot when the something gets in his eyes.

it turns out better than he expected, though. as he joins the others in monitoring their shoot, he’s happy to see how everything looks picturesque. and it’s not even edited yet. sehun feels proud with how beautiful the choreography shots look, their synchronized movements a little addictive to watch, personally speaking. everyone was obviously in a good mood while they were recording, and it shows. even the concept images look stunning to him. or maybe it’s just him being a little biased. all of their hard work in preparing for this comeback comes down to this, and he most definitely likes how this album is turning out.

sehun wishes the fans would give this album as much love and support as they had done in their previous albums. he can’t help but look forward to everyone’s reaction. there’s growth, if he’s going to be honest, in their overall style and music and sehun, being the soft kid that he is, somehow feels proud of that fact.

convex: comeback preparations | rainbow head march 6, 2020

bright. colorful. wild.

those were the first things that came to mind as his hair gradually changed colors. colors. he still can't wrap his head around it.

sehun didn't really have a concrete reaction when he was first informed that he would be having rainbow hair for this comeback. at some point he had been excited - the kind of excitement fueled solely by his own curiosity. he had seen people carry the style so nicely, and he figures it wouldn't be so bad. it's hair. he should be fine. but now that he's here, staring at his reflection in the mirror, scalp itching as they applied a fourth color - a fourth! and he still has another four lined up in front of him! good lord! - he was a little numbed out. it was a lot to take in, quite literally.

at this point, he isn't sure why he thought they were just messing with him when they told him about the color changes. they made him go red before (which took him a while to get used to considering how bright it had been the first week, but he survived). thankfully, it faded over time and he felt comfortable again. this time, however... he heaves out a sigh, trying to get comfortable in his chair as they continue on with the rest of his hair. it looks like the dyes exploded on his head. it looks fascinating, though, if he says so himself, and it looks quite good on him if the light is right. his butt hurts from sitting down for so long but now that he's here, the colors of the rainbow on his head, he quite... likes it?

but will he be able to pull it off? maybe...

the new do has garnered quite a reaction from the members. it is a lot to take in. but he didn't get any negative comments about it. it's more of wonder and it makes him laugh everytime when he's asked if it's real, and he takes it as a good sign. if it looked weird on him he's sure they'd tell him. "is it real... your hair looks like cotton candy." it was jaehyun who asked and he grins. that was a cute comparison. and sehun being sehun, the only thing he replies with is "they painted it with all the colors of the wind," and finger guns.

this is the most daring color he's done yet, and he thinks he's going to have fun with it.

"hyun hyung! can you take a photo of me, please? i'm bad at selfies." he asks because he's got to save this look. for science.

sehun looks at the table, making sure he's got everything ready before he ventures off to get one of the hyungs to join this little kitchen experiment. not that there's any important ingredient (or harmful equipment needed) they'll need that they don't already have in the dorm's small kitchen - they have enough coffee, milk and sugar for everyone who needs it to function properly. with a final nod, he turns on his heel and goes to look for one of the hyungs.

dalgona. it's formed quite a stir everywhere on the internet and he'd be lying if he said he didn't want to try for himself. it's become so popular that everyone's become curious about it, him included. the videos he's watched tells him it's easy enough for anyone with enough patience, so he's been interested in making one. but he needs someone to taste test it with him. preferably a hyung because although he's positive making dalgona isn't enough for him to burn the kitchen down, he can't be too careful. he'll feel a lot better if one of the hyungs was with him. it'll be more fun, too.

sehun knocks on the door twice before he peeks into the room, grinning when he finds seungcheol there. "hello hyung! are you busy today?" he chirps. he isn't sure if the older male is a big fan of caffeine, but he's seen him drink a few before so he hopes it's okay. besides, it's been a very busy month for them and trying to make dalgona for the first time seems like a good way to relax. "have you heard of dalgona before, hyung?" he asks just as he sits himself beside the older male, a smile on his lips. he uses his puppy eyes for good luck. "i was wondering if ever you're free, would you like to try making one with me? i even have everything ready in the kitchen!"

iamosh this was what my face looked like when i realized two of the most important people in my life, who very much deserved each other, are going to share another chapter of their lives together. i am beyond happy and beyond ecstatic for them both.
