Q: Have you finished your Goodreads goal? . . I still have 10 books to finish my GRs goal of reading 100 books.. 🙈 . . #accidentalmagic . . Accidental Magic is the story of four very different people whose lives are brought together by Harry Potter. I always like when a story talks about my favourite books or books in general. So when the blurb of Accidental magic says about Harry Potter, I immediately want to dive in. . . I liked reading about how the fandom worked when the Harry Potter books were releasing and how readers all around (wor)shipped the story & the characters and JKR. And also I got to know about the fan-fictions, how strangers became friends because of their common interests(HP) and HP helped everyone in some or the other way. . . The start was nice and the HP fandom stuff was good but after some time the story travelled in a straight line. The narration is not for me. The character arcs could have been better. Q: If you could make one good character bad or a bad character good, which one would you choose and why? . . . #thelanguageofthorns . . 💫I love fairy tales and always root for HEA still I like this book because of the raw content & bold female characters. It's shown me alternate versions for some of the fairytales which I could never have thought from that perspective.💀 This book has taken fairy tales into a whole new level & made me think that this is how it should have been written in the first place. 💥 . . ✨Each story has its own magic & twists which I enjoyed reading & loved traveling along with the characters. ✨I give illustrations 5 stars. ✨The artwork in every page & end of each tale is just amazingggg. Qotd: Favorite character who is a reader? . . | b o o k.r e v i e w | ♥️Love and other words♥️ . . @christinalauren has just given me one of the best heart warming stories. This book has everything from friendship, romance, heart breaks, second chance, losing a family member wrapped together which made me both happy and sad. . . 🕕 The story is told in two timelines- In "then" about how the main characters first met when they were young and their relationship started but broke apart somehow with no connection at all and in "now" when they met 11 years later. My favorite has to be the past because it has more sweet and cute factors. I just loved how they understood and supported each other and became closer, that slow building of relationship over time. It's written so beautifully that I can't stop myself from listening to the audio book. . . 👫 The characters are amazing. You can sign me up if one of the main characters is a reader. Macy and Elliot, both of my babies are readers. And it's a friends to lovers story. So everything is set for me. It's not just the romance but the connection between them through thick and thin made me love them very much. Their bond over books and words are everything. Elliot is my favorite though. He is so intense and he is the one who wants a second chance and doesn't want this chance to get away because he wants to know what happened 11 years back. And he wears specs. Macy's mom and dad are very like-able. It's so sad her mom died when was so young but the list she's left was super moving. . . 💏 The last few chapters were hard for me and it took time to process everything that happened back then that made them lost connection. The story is simple, emotional, beautiful and comforting. I owe it that much." ♥️ . . ❣️ #84charingcrossroad story starts with Helene Hanff from New York writing Marks & Co, a second hand & rare books shop in London asking about some books. This epistolary novel covers 20 years of correlation between Helene and the shop especially with Frank Doel, an employee of Marks & Co. We readers can easily associate with Helene's love for books and the feelings she shared. I simply adored how the relationship not only with Frank but also with his family and the employees bloomed overtime. Helene sends them food parcels during the food rationing period in Britain and they share gifts. My heart broke in the last 2 pages of this book but I can't share about it as it's a spoiler. . . ❣️The sequel, #theduchessofbloomsburystreet , is written in diary format covering the book tour for 84 Charing cross road. The atmosphere in this one was wonderful because we got to travel around London along with Helene and it was like meeting our favorite characters when she met the people she was writing letters for 20 years. . . Virago edition has both volumes in a single book. My favorite has to be the first book as it created magic and warmth and that too in just 92 pages. This epistolary novel was a charming and refreshing read for me. This is definitely timeless and one gem of a book to be experienced with and I urge you all to read and feel it. . . Lara Lington never in her dream, thought that she'd meet her Great aunt Sadie's ghost at her aunt's funeral. Sadie wants Lara to find her missing Dragonfly necklace so that she can rest in peace. And the hilarious adventure starts! 🥁 . . There are two lead heroines in this one. Lara, Sophie's trademark heroine is just cute and likeable and the story is narrated by her. But the one who stole the spot light is none other than the 105 year old great aunt. The story went uphill after Sadie showed up and what a fun ride it was. 💃 . . Sadie in her 20s showing up throughout the story is so much fun. And what can I say about Sadie? She made me feel irritated, supported, happy and also made me shed tears. She's the best guardian angel ever!! And I loved how the story roared 20s. Sadie makes Lara do things which you can never think a sane person would do but oh the tears are real. 🕴️ Special mention to the leading hero, Ed. He is sweet and did his part good. I love how Sophie Kinsella doesn't keep romance as the main focus and it's more about the lead and revolves around the family and friendship. . . The writing is simple and the characters are adorable. The story itself brimming over with positivism. And it rains that day when Pele stays with them. The woman in the myth is the sister of these 2 women and the prophecy comes true. And what happens next is the story.. ❤️ . . The story may appear superficial but it's super refreshing and unique. The story gave me hope and happiness, made me awe in many places. The writing is so detailed and the story telling is so powerful. . . It can be read in a single sitting. I listened to the audiobook which was awesome as well. He is morally fair and treats everyone right. He is such a true King. ☀️ . . The story has its own twists and turns and mysteries, politics, everything. The rich words used will pull you directly inside the story and make you stay there besides the Chozha's beautiful Kauveri river and also mesmerizes you with the Pallava's magnificent sculptures. ❤️❤️❤️ The narration and the way the story traveled is breathtaking. New moms can relate to her I guess. The story has some low areas but not boring. Though written in a funny tone, the struggle the moms face without the help of the relatives and also from their husbands, trying to work out their carrier as well as their family can be understood seriously. . . . Coraline finds herself in a situation where she has to find a way back and also she's to save her parents and 3 other children who are tapped there by this other-mother. ✨ Coraline is quirky and brave. She loves exploring. She is pure but also tough. She is like a role model to children. The courage she shows in such a young age is outstanding. ✨ Special mention to that cat who is friendly & creepy in its own way. ✨ How can I not talk about the art works in this latest edition!! They are beautiful and perfect. ✨ This book teaches children how to be brave even when you are afraid and how to fight against fear. Time flies and now the beautiful village is captured by militants and the people lives are never the same. They get beaten, women and girls are being raped, children are being abused. People who stand against them are being killed. And finally the villagers take charge and try to protect themselves. . . ✨ The story didn't revolve around Ashwar & Aslam alone. It talks about the life in the village, the people who lived there. It talks about their boldness, sacrifices, patriotism, terrorism, religion, politics, revenge, tyranny, everything. . . There are so many amazing characters in this book. ✨Haji Mir is patriotic and stands for what's right even when he can't. ✨Ashwar and Lal Jaan are two strong female characters here. Even after facing many cruelty, she tried to protect herself, her family and also fellow women. I loved her courage. ✨Aslam's character development come in the later part. I liked him but Ashwar is my favorite. ✨I loved how people even when they are shattered to the core showed strength and fought back. ✨The book starts with a powerful letter which when later comes again in one of the best situations gave me goosebumps. 💕This one gave me so many emotions. Qotd: Any favourite middle grade books? . . . From time to time, I read a middle grade book and my book choice this time has been "The good thieves". This is my first book by @katherine.rundell and her writing is absolutely beautiful. . . #bookreview - #thegoodthieves . . Vita's grandfather, Jack has been cheated by a gang and they have taken his home. Vita seeing his granddad sad and broken, wants to do something to make him happy again. With the help of 3 people, she plans to get his home back. ✨ Vita is fierce, brave and strong. Her planning and aiming skills are amazing. She's determined too. She's one of the strongest female characters. The gang of friends are unique in their own way. There are 2 guys, Arkady (being kind to birds & animals) & Samuel(gymnastic) and a girl named Silk (lockpicker). I love the way their friendship started and traveled. How can there be no bad guy? There comes Sorrotore. He is a suitable evil-villain candidate. Being the opportunistic sick person, he makes the life of people difficult and also doesn't give a damn about other people. The author even described about the circus, castle and places in the setting which has added more charm to the story. I love the relationship between the grandfather and the grandkid. ❤️❤️ The book setting is brilliant and the story is perfectly paced. It holds the suspense element till the end. He recognizes her even when she has disguised herself as a man. So he hires her in order to punish her for what she's done. . . ❤️ Characters ❤️ . Taylor's is a damsel in distress but she doesn't want to be saved by a prince. She saves herself. She is bold and determined. Sometimes she has acted lame but that comes in a package. Even though Ethan has appeared as a difficult, coldhearted person, once he has come to know about her more, he has become more swoon-worthy. I liked Ethan's twin sister Isla very much. She is like a catalyst that's needed in the story for the angst to end in a sweet way. Ethan and Taylor don't have a good start but the attraction is crystal clear. I've found the story's pace getting slow in some parts but it's a good one overall. This one has angst, work place romance, enemies to lovers trope and a happy ending. This was the 3rd book of TJR I read and my love for her writing is amplified. Her stories make you feel so many emotions and once you finish her book, it'll make you think back and assess everything. ❤️ This story is about Emma who loses her husband, Jesse in a traggic accident and after years of grieving, she finally moves on and falls in love with Sam. But Jesse is back alive and wants to start from where he has left. So Emma has a husband(ex?!) and a fiance now. Can someone love two person at the same time? 💕 Love triangle is an old trope but this one isn't the traditional type. It's an unexpected factor that makes it very difficult for Emma to realise whom she really wants. You can't be the same person you were once. ✨ “It was real. And now it’s over. And that’s OK. ” ✨ The characters are perfectly crafted. Both Jesse and Sam are cinnamon rolls. Both are good men. It's really hard for Emma (and us readers) to realise whom she actually loves at present. Emma's character is very well done. You'll fall in love with Jesse like her. You'll grieve with her for Jesse's loss. You'll always love Jesse. You'll fall in love with Sam. You'll be confused like her. And you'll decide with her. One more added to my favorite heroines' list. 💕 I'm not gonna say who she chooses in the end. If you ask me if it's a HEA for Emma. Yes. It is. But you have to experience everything along with her to know what that is and I'm not gonna spoil that. 💕 This story is totally beautiful and emotional. When comes to love there is no right or wrong. And being true to yourself is all that matters. I was kind of afraid to start this book because I wanted to like this as my favorite people loved this series. And I did like this enchanting Russian tale. Started #thegirlinthetower yesterday. It's going good. . . . #thebearandthenightingale ✨ Marina, mother of 4 children who is pregnant with her 5th child is certain that her last child will have her mother's magical qualities. Marina dies giving birth to Vasya and she's made Pyotr(her husband) & Dunya to take care of Vasya. ✨ Vasya grows up to be courageous and strong and doesn't afraid to speak her mind out. She appears both fearless and vulnerable and that makes her realistic. Vasya's family is nice. I like her siblings, especially Alyosha & Sasha. ✨ The story has a good mix of evilness, demons, good spirit and bad spirit. Author has created a haunting & magical story. I also love the wintery setting & the winter King, Morozko. ✨ The story started good and slowed, really slowed in the middle and the pace gradually increased in the end. This was the first time for me to read a Russian folk lore and the names were kind of hard to grasp. There is a glossary in the end. Shirin, a teenage girl who goes to an American school is getting bullied for being a muslim girl who wears hijab. Her parents keep on moving from place to place which makes her stay alone with no friends. The people she meets are cruel to her and hurts her by their racist comments. This starts changing when her brother introduces her to the break dancing team. There's also a guy named Ocean who shares some classes with her. What started as a simple conversation has turned into a beautiful relationship between them. ✨ Shirin is my favorite. She has a world of her own. It's like she always has this invisible shield around her to defend her from getting hurt by the verbal attacks from this cruel world. The sufferings and heartbreaks she's to go through are painful. I love how she doesn't let this world define her or her life. ✨ This book has touched heart-rending topics which need to be addressed and make you feel sorry for the people's poor comprehension but it also has happy moments. The author also expresses the relationships better, be it about the family , the sister-brother relationship, first love, even Shirin's love for break dancing, music & fashion. I listened to the audiobook which is narrated by Priya. She's the appealing voice. It's given me all the feels. ✨ People only see what they want to see! The story is set after the 9/11 incident but I feel it's still fitting. When will this kind of prejudgement will ever stop? What we consider as a simple, casual comment could hurt a person deep enough that we wouldn't have thought it would.
