Otto III was sewentien jaar oud, hy het tussen vroue grootgeword: sy ma, sy ouma, sy drie susters; sterk kulturele, literêre en wetenskaplike belangstellings gehad het; langs Otto was Adalbert van Praag. Toe het Adalbert, met Kersfees 996, na Hongarye vertrek en sou nooit terugkeer nie. Gerbert was reeds gereed daar, langs die keiser; hulle het mekaar in Magdeburg ontmoet, waar Gerbert sy wetenskapstudies hervat het: sterrekunde, fisika en die bou van horlosies en teleskope. In 998 het Otto III besluit om hom in Rome te vestig om die bewegings van die pousdom beter te beheer; die aartsbiskop van Ravenna was gereed vir Gerbert. Otto III en Gerbert het, met verskillende ampte en druk, 'n beduidende politieke rol in Italië aanvaar

Be careful when handling the Japanese Otton frog [Babina subaspera]. They may be cute, but they’re carrying hidden weapons. These frogs have evolved spiked pseudothumbs which are hidden under two flaps of skin. Although both sexes possess these pseudothumbs, only the males have been observed using them, mainly for battling one another for access to females.
