It looks like Japanese distributor Happinet will be releasing a whole bunch of Tetsuya Watari (渡哲也) Nikkatsu films on DVD in early 2020. Among the 20-ish titles currently showing up for pre-order on Amazon Japan, 4 of them also have Meiko Kaji (梶芽衣子) in them.

From top left to bottom right:

Shinjuku Outlaw Buttosbase (新宿 アウトロー ぶっ飛ばせ), 1970, directed by Toshiya Fujita (藤田敏八) and also starring Yoshio Harada (原田芳雄) and Mikio Narita ( 成田三樹夫). Never before released on DVD. Also known as Step On The Gas. Release date is January 8th.

Man Of Victory (星よ嘆くな 勝利の男), 1967, directed by Toshio Masuda (舛田利雄) and also starring Ruriko Asaoka (浅丘ルリ子) and Hideaki Nitani (二谷英明). Never before released on DVD. Release date is March 3rd.

Aitakute Akitakute (逢いたくて逢いたくて), 1966, directed by Mio Ezaki (江崎実生) and also starring Mari Sono (園まり) and Chieko Matsubara (松原智恵子). Previously available on DVD. Release date is February 4th.

Outlaw Gangster VIP 2 (大幹部 無頼), 1968, directed by Keiichi Ozawa (小沢啓一) and also starring Hideaki Nitani (二谷英明) and Chieko Matsubara (松原智恵子). Previously available on DVD and currently available on Blu-ray in the US and UK from Arrow Video. Release date is January 8th.

Hopefully, more Watari/Kaji films are on the way.

One other thing I do want to note is to be wary of the cover/poster for Shinjuku Outlaw Buttobase, with Meiko Kaji looking all badass.

Be warned that this particular image is actually from Stray Cat Rock: Sex Hunter (野良猫ロック　セックスハンター) and that she does not brandish a knife or do anything cool like that in the movie. She has another “concerned girlfriend” role in this one and doesn’t have much to do.

That’s not going to stop me from buying it, obviously, but I wanted to let you know.

Yuta Kishi to Star in Live-action Film Inspired by Toshio Ozawa's Delinquent Comedy Manga G-MEN

    Yuta Kishi, a 26-year-old member of Johnny & Associates' boy idol group King & Prince, is set to star in a live-action film adaptation of Toshio Ozawa's high school delinquent comedy manga G-MEN. This is the fourth film he has appeared in and his first starring role.

  The manga was serialized in Akita Shoten's Weekly Shonen Champion from 2014 to 2018. It was compiled in 15 tankobon volumes and has printed over 1.5 million copies in Japan. As it has continued to gain new fans even after its serialization ended, the decision was made to make it into a live-action film.

  The story centers on Shota Kadomatsu, who transfers to Takehana Private Boys High School, which has four girls' schools within two kilometers around it, in order to get a girlfriend. However, he is sorted into the unpopular "G" class, which is full of problem students. As he bonded with them, he struggles to get a girlfriend.　　

  "The character I will be playing, Shota, is a protagonist who gives 100% to everything he does, and there are parts of him that overlap with my own, including the part where he spins out of control," Kishi says. "I hope I can do my best to express the feelings of a pure adolescent boy, and the way he sacrifices himself and devotes himself to his friends. What I'm looking forward to is the action scenes! I've been training differently than usual to build up my body and endurance, and I'm preparing every day to deliver hot and cool action scenes."

  Toichiro Rutou (Urayasu Tekkin Kazoku, The Way of the Househusband live-action TV drama)-directed film is set to be released in Japan in the fall of 2022. Toei works on distribution.

Sezon Finali, BBC Music Magazine’nin “Kanında müzik var!” diye tanımladığı, müzik eğitimini Berlin ve Paris’te tamamlayıp Murray Perahia ve Andras Schiff gibi önemli ustalarla müzik çalışmış, 1991’deki ARD Uluslararası Müzik Yarışması’nı 19 yaşında kazanan en genç piyanist olma ünvanını taşıyan Japon piyanist Momo Kodama ile 12 Haziran’da gerçekleşiyor! Sanatçı, dünyanın en iyi orkestralarının ve en gözde festivallerinin aranan piyanistleri arasında yer alıyor! 

Osaka doğumlu Japon piyanist Momo Kodama, çocukluk yıllarını Avrupa’da geçirdi; Almanya’da ilk eğitimini aldıktan sonra Paris’teki “Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique”e devam etti. Ardından Murray Perahia, Andras Schiff, Vera Gornostaeva ve Tatiana Nikolaïeva gibi usta isimlerle çalışma fırsatı yakaladı. Üstün yeteneği ve aldığı eğitim ona 1991’de ARD Uluslararası Müzik Yarışması’nın hem “Şampiyonluk” hem de 19 yaşında kazanan “En Genç Piyanist” olma ünvanlarını getirdi.

Bu zaferi sonrası dünyanın önemli orkestralarından davetler alarak Berlin Filarmoni, Boston Senfoni, Tokyo Metropolitan Senfoni Orkestrası, Hiroşima Senfoni Orkestrası, NHK Senfoni Orkestrası, NDR Hamburg, Fransa Radyo Filarmoni Orkestrası, Düsseldorf Senfoni, Kyoto Senfoni, Monte-Carlo Filarmoni Orkestrası ve Liverpool Kraliyet Filarmoni Orkestrası gibi önemli orkestralarla aynı sahneyi paylaştı. Batonu altında çaldığı şefler arasında ise Seiji Osawa, Eliahu Inbal, Charles Dutoit, Lawrence Foster, Kent Nagano, André Prévin ve Sir Roger Norrington yer alıyor. 

Viyana’da Musikverein, Berlin’de Konzerthaus, Londra’da Wigmore Hall, Tokyo’da Suntory Hall, Paris’te Théâtre des Champs-Elysées ve Amsterdam’da Muziekgebouw ise sahneye çıktığı prestijli salonlar arasında ilk akla gelenler. Momo Kodama aynı zamanda yarışmalarda juri üyesi olarak görev alıyor ve masterclass dersleri de veriyor.Albüm ve kayıtları, New York Times, BBC Music Magazine, Classica (CHOC) ve Télérama gibi yayınlardan  övgü dolu eleştriler alan sanatçının “Point and Line” adını taşıyan Debussy ve klasik müziğin Japon çağdaş bestecisi Toshio Hosokawa’nın eserlerini bir araya getirdiği 2017’de yayınlanan son solo albümü ile birlikte bugüne kadar yayınlanmış 9 albümü bulunuyor.

Toshio Ozawa's High School Delinquent Manga Nanba MG5 Gets Live-action Drama in April

    A live-action TV drama adaptation of Toshio Ozawa's high school delinquent manga Nanba MG5 and its sequel Nanba Dead End is confirmed to be aired on Fuji TV from April 2022 in a new drama slot at 10:00 p.m. on Wednesdays.

  Nanba MG5 was serialized in Akita Shoten's Weekly Shonen Champion from 2005 to 2008 and compiled in 18 tankobon volumes, then Nanba Dead End followed from 2008 to 2011 and released 11 tankobon volumes.

  The story is about Tsuyosh Nanba, who has lived his life as a delinquent, but in fact he wants to stop being so and become a normal high school student. He enrolls in a healthy high school and joins the art club as an honor student, but he can't leave his friend who is being bullied alone, so he changes into a Tokkou-fuku (a long, loose coat worn by young Japanese gang members) and helps him, which leads him to become the strongest delinquent with an unknown identity...

  Katsuhiro Motoyuki, known for his general directorial works for the PSYCHO-PASS anime series including its stage play adaptations, is attached to direct. And 28-year-old Shotaro Mamiya (Tetta Kisaki in Tokyo Revengers live-action film) is set to play the protagonist Tsuyoshi Nanba. Mamiya says, "The expectations of the family, the judgments of those around you, your current self and your ideal self, your strength and weakness, and your identity. I think that the theme of 'Nanba MG5' is not only about the character Tsuyoshi, but also about the universal theme of how you should live your life."
