finished pact arc 2. very enamoured with how practitioner magic revolves around knowing one's self (late teens/early 20s ass magic system frfr). I'd be so fucked as a practitioner. in light of all this we should put vista into pact.

pactverse missy biron (portalled directly into the pactverse from worm) procrastinates the shit out of taking a familiar/implement/demesne (defining herself) because "I can get by on my powers!". this is symbolic of how she has no meaningful identity outside of Vista The Cape and doesn't picture a future for herself because everyone knows capes don't live long. [narrator voice] she could not get by on her powers.

alternatively missy immediately takes some symbol of Vista The Cape as her implement. probably her mask. and not three chapters in shit starts going sideways because her mask holds no power in pactverse. it's emblematic of a role that Literally Doesn't Exist there. also she's just tying herself MORE to her parahuman abilities; trying to draw power From her existing personal power does noooot help, girl. you are getting nothing except More Enmeshed With Your Shard.

speaking of, her Shard (which has been dragged here with her) is also going a bit fucky. it's been separated from the control hub (as have all shards after scion's death) and as such it's also having a crisis of purpose and having to reinvent itself. parallels indeed. anyways it probably counts as an Other (right?? or would Vista count as an Other?) so that's a thing. using her power comes with a cost here. fun times indeed for missy my friend missy

Pact thoughts update: I'm on ~2.3? Vaguely interested in the Briar Girl. I haven't seen her mentioned in other posts, which I suspect means she's either irrelevant and will die mundanely, or is a mask for something totally unrecognisable. Anyways, here's some very rough scribbles of how she looks in my head.

Worm Fugue is the funniest phenomenon I've seen in any fandom. Like every time someone offhandedly goes "yeah I read worm super fast, took me like a week somehow" twenty other people will emerge from the woodworks to talk about how they read worm in three days, six days, ten days, just an assortment of timespans in which it's fully unreasonable to read that many words. Worm has a secret Master power that compels you to keep reading and keep reading and keep reading no matter what, although I'm kinda curious how many people actually experience the Worm Fugue so uhhh behold a poll.
