Cricket Australia (CA) announced the T20 World Cup squad 2024 while paying tribute to legendary all-rounder Andrew Symonds. A special video was posted by CA, in which Symonds’ daughter Chloe and son Will were seen announcing the names of the players with the 2007 World Cup-winning Australia team.

The video featured Ponting, McGrath, Gilchrist, Hayden, Clarke, Hussey. Mitchell Marsh has been given the command of the team. Spinner Ashton Agar and all-rounder Cameron Green have returned to the team after almost 18 months.

After being demoted from the opener’s spot, Fakhar Zaman counts positives

Batter of team Pakistan, Fakhar Zaman, has declared that he is prepared to adjust his batting order in the upcoming T20Is in line with the requirements of the team. He is currently on tour in New Zealand, where Pakistan will take on the Black Caps in a five-match T20I series, which will begin on Friday, January 12.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Zaman maintained that batting lower down the order isn’t a sacrifice. He further said he considers himself ‘lucky’ to get a look in on this Pakistani team filled with talent.

Zaman said, “I don’t view batting lower down the order as a sacrifice. If the team management doesn’t see me fitting into the opening position, it suggests they believe I can contribute to winning matches by batting lower in the order.”

“Given the competition for spots in the national team, I consider myself fortunate to secure a place in the playing XI, especially with the impressive performances from players like Babar, Rizwan, and Saim.

Zaman added, “If Babar or Rizwan come at one down, then I can come at two down. I will be happy to play at number six or seven.” Zaman also discussed the possibility of making changes to the batting order in preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup in June.
