Jess has no idea until said girlfriend cornered her in the hallway and made a huge scene, basically accusing Jess of trying to steal her boyfriend, yikes! That got the rumour mill going

Suddenly it became harder and harder to make lasting friendships with girls in her class. And the slut shamming wasn’t too awesome either.

Jess was always taught to embrace her sexuality and that there was nothing wrong in exploring it (as long as she was safe) so to have her classmates shame her for it was shit especially bc she was just 16

She got good at tuning it out and flipping people off and shooting them obscene smiles when they tried to throw it in her face bc fuck them

100% got detention for yelling ‘eat my ass, jason’ in the hallway

She’s actually quite the romantic. Her parents have that disgusting true love shit going on and it’s something she wants to have for herself too

her main vibe is really that 90′s tomboy older sister who will always rat you out and gets off on being right

she just moved to palo alto like a year ago with no plan and barely any money just to get away from home and never look back and since then she’s been running herself ragged working three jobs to try and support herself while trying to figure her life out

but she totally acts like she has it all together and never wants anyone to see that deep down she’s kind of struggling and with her confidence and kind of “tough” girl attitude, it’s easy for people to pass her off as such

um more into her backstory, she grew up pretty well-off in an upper middle class family in some other state (tba) like kind of classic american family - mom, dad, two younger siblings that she adored but also bossed around since she was the oldest

anyway, she was always rlly smart and an honor student and all that, and got into a rlly good local college that she was attending and wanted to pursue a career in law

she was super close to her dad who was a pretty successful business owner of some kind and sloane was like the golden child and always being doted on by him

while it looked like he was doting on her, but rlly he was really hard on her and put a lot of pressure on her and like had her whole life mapped out even tho she didn’t rlly know if that was what she wanted

still, she didn’t know any different and would’ve said they had a rlly good relationship even tho it was kind of questionable

anyway, it came as a rlly big shock when her dad got caught committing embezzlement or fraud or something like that and went to jail and then her, her mom, and her siblings were just left bad financially and having to try to pick up the pieces

her mom took it super hard, mostly because of how embarrassing it was, and started drinking and then sloane had to come home from college and was kind of expected to drop everything to help with her younger siblings

at first she agreed, because she was kind of just in shock like my whole life is a lie? and i’ve lost probably the most important person in my life? and i have to give up my life and dreams?

she was just…struggling like what do i even want now? do i want to go back to school? do i want to stay here or do i just feel like i need to because my mom expects me to?

so yeah, she was just becoming more and more depressed n angry n resentful n confused and was like i need a change of pace

and she tried to tell her mom her plans to leave, but she was not happy and they haven’t rlly spoken since

but she left! and she’s free! and that’s all that matters to her right now, even though it’s been a year and she’s now kind of feeling the pressure to like figure out a more long term plan

personality wise, she’s very outspoken and driven, but is often times gets super frazzled because she’s working so much and always running around and doing something

she’s not afraid to call people out and almost thrives on it, but at the same time has had enough life experience to give out good advice and will be there for you if she likes you

she’s a little jaded just with everything that’s happened to her and kind of having life as she knew it taken away

definitely steers clear of love and relationships! super afraid of being abandoned and disappointed! and just kind of has a wall up when you first meet her, but it will come down once she gets to know someone

(dane dehaan, cismale) okay, so get this… i was in palo alto the other weekend and i ran into ELI PALTROW. everyone calls him the FACADE, which makes sense because he’s very TALKATIVE and RESOURCEFUL but also very MOODY and UNTRUSTWORTHY. you know, the TWENTY year old STORE CLERK really reminds me of SMASHED BEER BOTTLES, OVERSIZED HOODIES, and EYE BAGS FOR DAYS. hi i’m ciara and meet eli ! he’s the worst and i love him more than anything. like this and i’ll hit you up for plots and connections !

put into the adoption system near enough immediately after being born. bounced around a few families that never quite stuck. eli does have a sort of brother called ryan though, who is three years older than him and is not at all his actual biological brother — the bond is still there, though, and probably stronger than most biological siblings have ever since they grew up in the same care home and decidedly became brothers after immediately hitting it off when eli was nine

(tw eating disorder) though never formally diagnosed, he struggles with an eating disorder and has done for eleven years, with a few failed recovery attempts under his belt during that time

highschool was easy enough for eli to get through since he distanced himself from his classmates and just got on with the work, he figured it was only a short time of his life and he realised it didn’t make a difference if he didn’t speak to anyone so he just, like, didn’t

decided not to go to college because  a) financial struggles  b) he didn’t want to live in accommodation with other people and  c) ultimately he has no idea what to do with his life and so didn’t want to waste his time on doing something bis heart isn’t into. he planned on going eventually but there’s been no further action

he’s kind of fake open – that kind of thing where he’ll just offer fake truths about himself to look like he’s opening up to someone so they’ll do it in return, he doesn’t really keep the lies consistent though so he’s pretty easily caught out on it all

can be pretty manipulative and it’s usually not even for own benefit, it’s just a kind of boredom thing

tldr; little bit shitty, crazy bit insecure, still just tryin his best over here

hiya guys! i’m mici - sorry i’m late.. but i’m so excited to be here! this little turnip is jack! if you wanna plot, like this or hmu!!

- jack mason is the youngest child, with an older sister and stepbrother; he grew up in california, he’s originally from the san fran, but came to palo alto for college; his family is still in san fran tho

- his family was not well off growing up, so he did a lot of odd part-time jobs growing up: pizza deliveries, wrote fortunes for fortune cookies for a local chinese restaurant, he helped out at a library for bit, played piano in a hotel lobby in high school

- he’s a music business major, he plays bass and piano, writes a lot of music (not a lot of lyrics tho); he dreams of producing musicians and bands, wants to move abroad and help foreign artists break out in america

- when he’s not stuck in class or creating bass riffs in his living room, he works at a diner trying to save up for new vinyls or concert tickets (or packs of cigarettes); if you can’t find him there, then he’s probably at a bowling alley stuffing his face with cheese fries and tossing back cold beers

- jack comes off as anti-social at times because he’s introverted and awful at expressing himself, he’s awkward more often than not, and he’s a bit soft-spoken – so music is his outlet, he throws his feelings into writing and playing

- the soft boy is soft though, he really does enjoy getting to know people and he’s very trusting; he’s a ride or die kind of guy, he always wants to help his friends, and has some trouble saying no to his friends and family. he’s gullible at times, and he truly believes in second chances (just not when it comes to himself)

- when he was 21, he fell in love with his fwb and she got pregnant. she had an abortion and hindsight he understands that they weren’t ready mentally, but he was devastated? she had the abortion without letting him know and ended up leaving town. he poured himself into music and decided that maybe it was for the best that he couldn’t express himself to others, that way he couldn’t get hurt again

- he’s bounced back since then, but has a hard time believing anyone would like him or want to be with him, a little insecurity that’s chipping away at him slowly

(kaitlyn alexander, nonbinary) okay, so get this… i was in palo alto the other weekend and i ran into NIC GALLIMORE. everyone calls them the SPACE CADET, which makes sense because they’re very LAID BACK and WITTY but also very DISTRACTED and DISORGANIZED. you know, the 20 year old STUDENT really reminds me of FRESH CITRUS, BULKY JOURNALS WITH MESSY HANDWRITING, and OVERALLS WITH FLECKS OF PAINT ON THEM. Nic is an astronomy major, and just generally a huge nerd about space. They spend a lot of their time studying because, despite loving space, they’re terrible at math. This has really started putting a strain on them as they move into more advanced math classes, and they’re starting to consider quitting.

They aren’t at all close with their family because their family refused to accept their being nonbinary. In fact, they moved out and haven’t spoken to any of their family or friends since.

They aren’t really active in any party scenes yet, but they’ve been feeling tempted to cut loose and see what it’s like!

They are always scribbling things down in a bulky notebook to try and remember things because they are so forgetful.

Nic is a lighthearted person, but this can lead to them being a little bit too impulsive. They might not always think things through enough and that lands them in trouble.

Wanted connections:

New friends! Good or bad influences welcome. There’s some potential for Nic to get sucked into the partying world, and if your character seems like they might pull Nic in, that might be interesting.

delilah is just... a sad girl :( she’s a good person bt she has very bad taste and makes poor decisions but has the best intentions

she’s a palo alto native and has lived there her whole life

grew up wealthy! her dad was an inventor with a few successful inventions and her mom works in real estate, which started out as more of a hobby but later turned into more of a career

speaking of her dad, he died unexpectedly when she was 12 after being hit by a drunk driver and they were pretty close so she took it pretty hard

her mom, on the other hand, chose to pretend nothing happened which affected her even more because she just felt wrong for actually having emotions abt it???

meanwhile, her mom’s starts dating younger guys and trying to sell houses like crazy and drinking and delilah’s like what is going on?

definitely became depressed and overly emotional during this time and this continued on during her high school years as she felt like she didn’t have anyone to rlly talk to

also started writing during this time to try and express her feelings and this habit stuck as she’s now a creative writing major at a local college

she’s honestly just felt numb since her dad died, and as she’s gotten older has tried to use drugs, alcohol, and boys to try and feel something

she’s honestly a bit of a wild child, but a very unsuspecting one as no one would expect tht kind of behavior from her when they first see her

lost her virginity at too young of an age and still tries to use sex as a means to feel loved

definitely has the tendency to enter into toxic relationships, literally won’t go for the nice guy EVER, and gets consumed in relationships

was popular in high school but popularity wasn’t rlly something she was concerned with, she’s just always had a lot of friends

she’s pretty good a friend and will be there for people, but a lot of the time her friends need to be there for her because she’s being self-destructive and may need someone to pull her back

she’s a very empathetic person and can always see the good in someone even when others can’t, which gets her into dangerous territory with guys who don’t treat her right

has a very effortless beauty and way abt her

can be dangerously self-destructive at times, especially after a certain incident that shall be revealed later

cries a lot and way too easily

about.

leo is french-american. his mom, connie, is a palo alto native while his dad, adrian, grew up in paris. connie went on a lil foreign exchange program when she was in uni and that’s where she met adrian.

adrian comes from a really wealthy family. they own a chain of hotels around france, which adrian eventually inherited, so he’s, yknow. loaded.

after she graduated, leo’s mom moved to paris for a while in The Name of Love. this is where she married adrian and then got pregnant with leo.

their romance, however, was short-lived. connie and adrian grew to resent each other a lil bit—they couldn’t resolve their differences,and grew further and further apart. eventually, they decided to split up. connie went back home to palo alto with baby leo, who was four at the time.

leo’s parents are civil with each other to this day. adrian continues to financially support leo and takes care of everything, so leo’s lived a pretty privileged and comfortable life.

every summer, leo goes to france and stays with him. leo’s still very fluent in french, but because he’s lived in palo alto his whole life, a tiny bit of an american accent peeks through when he speaks it, but yknow.

he’s majoring in fine arts. loves and is fascinated by art in all its forms, but is most taken with painting and drawing.

his dad doesn’t really approve of his choice of major, but leo figures he’s gonna inherit the hotels anyway, might as well spend his time in uni doing something he actually likes

personality.

is actually rly chill. reserved. happy go lucky, doesn’t take life too seriously. catch him taking naps on every surface available around campus—empty classrooms, the cafeteria, bathroom stalls, you name it

incredibly charming and warm when you get to know him, but values his time alone too much to ever get that close to anyone, so he keeps his circle small

can’t be bothered with relationships either (wow! really? i wasn’t expecting that sjfhjdfhd) thinks they’re a lot of work n a tiny bit suffocating, so he’s not exactly boyfriend material
