Pandemic: Fall of Rome. I really like all the “historical” Pandemics, from their great art design to their interesting twists on the classic game system. We actually generally rarely play the classic game anymore, just the historical variants. Did better this evening, with a comfortable win in the standard difficulty of Pandemic: Fall of Rome. I do think this is a bit harder than standard Pandemic. Nicely thematic. We had the Vestal Virgin character in all our games, and she seems a bit tricky to play. The events are a bit of a crap shoot, and she’s not good at fighting; the ability to arrange the top of the draw deck slightly is good though, especially if you don’t have a role with a card-trading power. I like her though, she’s a role the likes of which hasn’t been in previous games, and we’ve seen a *lot* of different roles (20? 25? More?). New Year’s Gaming. Breaking in the Pandemic: Fall of Rome. This is another really cool historical set, and pretty hard! You’ve got to really figure out how to judge the risks, which are quite different from classic Pandemic. And the historical setting is quite nicely drawn. I had playtested it in a few earlier incarnations so I knew the game but playing it on the production components is always like a whole new experience.
