"Recovery" only applies to the behaviors that cause harm or distress in a paraphilic disorder (DSMV) and not the attraction itself. hopefully this clears it up, wouldn't want the flag to get misunderstood.

Noted, but my point is not that sickbagpony is personally some kind of a shady character, but that the very concept of approaching paraphilias through health is very, very vulnerable for exploitation by antis and anti-adjacent people, and as long as there's censorship on mainstream social media and paramisia in society, it is going to be to a large extent about curing paraphilias themselves. Not to mention, again, that treating health as an argument for worthiness is detrimental for those of us who are not and won't be healthy.

A theoretical side note on the paraphiliac disorder is that it seems, as I've already mentioned, a very questionable diagnosis to me. The criterion B conflates the personally unhealthy (distress) and the "socially unhealthy" (behavior), which, when thinking about a person's health in good faith, should never be done.

A lot of people with incredibly socially harmful behaviors are perfectly personally healthy and even mostly socially approved (think abusive patriarch). The label of unhealthy behavior label is mostly reserved to those whom the society hopes to bend into conformity (think oppositional deviant disorder; drapetomania). "Acting on a paraphilia" is regarded as a paraphilia-related problem because society hates paraphiliacs. If it wasn't because of that, a heterosexual rapist would be diagnosed with a "heterosexuality disorder". Doesn't that sound absurd?

Now, the distress part seems somewhat more legitimate, but then again, does the society treat, say, any queer sexuality the same way? There was a lengthy period in my life where I was very distressed about having developed any sexuality at all. I liked being aroace, and I hated not being aroace. Should there be a diagnosis for that? There's no reason to single out paraphilias here.
