Iwaizumi x GN Reader drabble
Iwaizumi lets kids beat him in an arm-wrestling match. This was also suggested by a commenter over on AO3 and too dang cute not to write! Tried to keep it as GN neutral as possible, no pronouns mentioned
Iwaizumi lets kids beat him at arm-wrestling. It's not something many knew about him, even those that had been his friends for years would doubt your stories unless they saw it with their own eyes.
So far, you and Tooru have been the only ones with the honour. Maki and Mattsun are convinced you're both running some elaborate ruse, because there is no way that ruthless bastard lets anyone win. They played volleyball with the guy, they would know.
It's not until they come to visit your family home in your absence that they get to see it for themselves.
Hajime leads his friends into the living room, it's a summer barbeque and they just happen to be the first to arrive.
'(Y/N)'s just gone out to get some stuff we forgot, should be back any minute.' He explained, about to ask if they wanted a drink as they continued into the garden, when his eldest son came barreling into the room, his favourite toy robot in one hand.
'Papa papa papa papa!'
Hajime can't help but smile as the boy crashes into his thigh in his rush, absolutely bursting with energy. 'Bud, have you said hi yet?'
Sheepishly, the boy waves his non-robot hand up at the two adults. 'Hi uncle Mattsun and uncle Maki!'
'Woah, when did you get so tall?' Mattsun teases gently. 'You'll be taller than your dad next time I see you!'
Giggling at his father's disgruntled face, the boy declares loudly. 'Papa! Arm wrestle!'
Iwaizumi is in full dad mode and doesn't give a crap that his friends are watching. He groans dramatically. 'Already?! My arm's still sore from when your sister beat me last week!'
Said sister is three, currently napping in her room because she can't bring herself to stay awake as long as the sun is up. Hajime is convinced she got that from you.
Just like your son got that cheeky eye-roll move. 'You'll live.'
Maki cackled, smacking Mattsun's shoulder. 'Dude, he sounds just like (Y/N)!'
'Tell me about it.' Iwaizumi huffed, allowing the boy to drag him to the coffee table. 'Fine, but I'm gonna beat you this time!'
Delighted giggles leave your son's lips as he drags his father to their usual battleground. You walk through the front door just in time to watch your little boy's chubby little fist plant his father's hand against the table, right before his former teammate's eyes.
'I won! I won! Mimi I won again!' Your son cries, zooming around the living room in delight. Your parental instincts catch the rogue glass he nearly knocks off the TV stand before it can hit the ground, managing to stay upright with the wine box balanced against your hip when he barrels into you to hug you before racing off again, screaming.
'Ladies and gentlemen, hurricane Iwaizumi had left the building.' You declared dryly, setting the glass down somewhere safer before realising that Mattsun and Maki are gaping at your husband, who's stood up to take the heavy stuff off your hands. 'What's up with you two? Never seen a six-year-old on a warpath?'
'He... he let him win.' Maki mutters quietly, shock painting his features. 'He freaking let him win!'
Hajime returns from the kitchen, having set down your shopping before you'd even realised he's taken it from you, wrapped both arms around your waist and set his chin on your shoulder, wearing a smug grin. 'If your consolation prize was this smokin' hot, wouldn't you? Besides, I didn't let 'im win, he's got good genes is all.'
'Oh hush!' You huff exasperatedly but do nothing to free yourself from your loving husband's arms, grinning smugly at your friends, declaring without words, that you'd told them so.
