Post-ep fic recs for days
@muldaaah as promised, here’s a post-episode fic rec list!
It’s not comprehensive by any means, but it will probably be pretty long! Nothing past the end of s7 as that’s where I stopped. (if there are any eps I don’t include that you would like me to, let me know)
Recs will be sorted into categories (in bold, linked to their corresponding tags on AO3 for a comprehensive list for that ep) by episode, will not include tags, and can be found under the cut to save your dash. All recs have MSR and are hosted on Ao3 unless otherwise stated.
As always, make sure you read the tags on the work before reading to make sure it’s content you want to consume!

Summary: She could stop this right now, and their partnership would remain beyond reproach. There would be a few awkward weeks, but they'd put this night in the box labeled 'Things Never to Talk About,' and they'd move on. Like they always do. Except, she'd die an old, lonely maid because there would never be another man who could set her soul on fire the way Mulder does. She'd always be chasing that fire.

Rest
Summary: It was Mulder’s name she screamed, voice ricocheting off the walls. It was Mulder’s name she kept thinking about, promising herself he would come for her and promising herself that she would remember his name if he came too late. She had poured all her confidence in him, telling herself to keep talking because he would get there any minute. This dependency scares her a little bit. But she’s not the only one who has that dependency. She can also hear Mulder’s voice in her head – the way he banged on the side of the trailer, bellowing her name like his life depended on it. She could still his frantic calls as he smashed through the door, gun raised and pupils wide.

Drunj!Der Yells About Outlander
Thoughts on Ep. 507
OK QUICK QUESTION, OUTLANDER WRITERS, IF YOU’VE STILL BEEN CAPABLE OF MAKING EPISODES THIS GOOD THEN HOW THE FUCK DO YOU JUSTIFY MAKING *GESTURES AT THE LAST FEW SEASONS* ALL THAT SHIT?!
This is literally the first episode of Outlander in fucking *years* that I have liked and actually meant it. Like, I *wanted* to watch it again. I cannot remember the last time I’ve wanted to rewatch an episode rather than it feeling like “fandom homework.”
Their track record over the last few years has me worried this was a fluke. And they just accidentally did a good job, and we’ll be back to mediocrity next week. But...y’all. What if the show actually gets good again? You know, that thing we’ve been hoping would happen for 84 fucking years...
*attempts to keep expectations in check while simultaneously being excited to actually have positive feelings toward the show again*
(Now can we have a Claire-centric episode that isn’t about rape and/or the usual ye olde times violence against women?)
Nudity AND sexual content warnings at the start? It’s a quarantine miracle!
Am I the only one who isn’t so much a fan of the voiceovers?
Opening with Roger singing, and the title, made me rull skeptical of how much I’d like this episode. Glad he was just the B plot.
*mentally prepares for next week, because ugh, fuck that guy*
At least we won’t have singalongs anymore? *runs away*
The shots of the camp and stuff reminded me again how glad I am that this season feels much less claustrophobic overall than last year.
JAMIE IS HAVING A SUPER SOFT BIRTHDAY PARTY!
LOOKIT THESE SOFT AF FRASERS!
MY BABIES ARE SO ADORABLE AND CUDDLY AND KISSY AND SNUGGLY AND MAKING DICK JOKES!
Move over Marilyn. I have a new favorite version of Happy Birthday.
Now quick, sing it a second time. I need a very sexy hand washing timer.
Ok but two of the English soldiers have the same last names as two people I work with but don’t particularly like. Eeeep.
99 yellow cockades on the wall, 99 yellow cockades. Take one down pass it around, 99 yellow cockades on the wall!
Update, I’m still not interested in the Browns or Isiah. But I guess if they’re gonna do what they’re probs gonna do next year, they have to make the Browns’ beef with Jamie a bigger thing than one episode... Le sigh.
Omfg the scene with the Findlay boys. They’re so young! Jamie’s giving them advice! They’re gonna follow the advice! And it’s gonna be tragic af! Literally perfect choice, tbh.
Tryon is such a condescending douchecanoe. Just going full Javert here.
Why the fuck is Bree in Hillsborough, though? Besides, needing to be conveniently there for Plotty McPlotterson reasons.
The more they say Alamance, the more all I can think of is Salamence. Which is fitting considering what happens to fellow ‘mon Roger MacSeedot at the end of the episode.
A+ choice moving Jamie calling on Dougal to here rather than before the flaming dildo.
Especially given a certain piece of stunt casting...
“My professor said that some people consider this to be the spark of the American Revolution.” *stares in Boston*
“Ye say some people believe this is the spark. Couldn't the spark alight from somewhere else?” “Yes, it could. You know, in Boston. Where you grew up. Your professor in Cambridge can shove it.”
If Harvard wasn’t closed because of the ‘rona, I’d march down there and give that fictional professor from decades ago a piece of my mind.
They’re really putting a lot of faith in a fucking handkerchief. Don’t see how that could go wrong.
“Now go. Be ready for the morrow.” And then all the Regulators sit down around their fires and sing Drink with Me.
Yes, I’m still on the “this season is Les Mis fanfic” train.
Ok but Murtz was ready to die at Culloden for a cause he believed in *with* Jamie and now, after hearing what Roger has to say, he’s ready to die here for a cause he believes in *against* Jamie* AND I AM FULL OF FEELINGS ABOUT IT.
*yes, I know that Jamie’s not 100% into it and definitely isn’t actually on the side of Murtz’s enemy.
“You have farmers, with knives and pitchforks.” *queues up Turning*
How fucking far away was this creek though that it took all fucking night to get there? Now is not the time for a sleepover party, Roger.
PERSONAL SPACE BUBBLE, ROGER, PERSONAL SPACE BUBBLE!
At least he doesn’t fucking kiss her, but you are *such* a dumbass, Roger.
LOL @ DOUGAL 2.0
They do love them some stunt casting on this show, don’t they.
Ok but making Jamie wear a red coat is a great fucking choice. And I know I shit on Heughan a lot, but his face as Jamie puts it on shows literally every emotion and his entire history with the men who wear those coats without saying a word.
Ok but since they cast Graham McTavish as a bit of a joke, does this mean we aren’t going to be subjected to Roger and Buck’s adventures through time? Because omfg I hate that shit so much. I mean, it’d be on brand for the show to make us watch an abusive husband gallivant around as a buddy of one of the leads, but it wouldn’t be a good look.
Buck!Dougal must have one of the previous season’s wigs. Because what is that dead thing on his head, haha.
Ditto what I said about Heughan re: Caitriona’s face when she see’s Jamie in the coat.
I AM STILL TRASH FOR THE SOLDIER THING.
Also, this is a good example of book shit worked in. Not awkwardly shoehorned in like they usually do.
Kinda bummed that Nurse Marsali is out of action, but get why Bree’s there. Whatevs. Can we get more Nurse Marsali soon?
The Browns are super obvious about trying to kill the person they’ve told everyone they want to kill.
Also like fuck the Browns for breaking her magic needle, but Claire, girl, keep a better grip on that shit.
THE MOURNFUL VERSION OF THE JE SUIS PREST/PRESTONPANS MUSIC IS PUNCHING ME IN THE FEELS.
FUCK THE ENGLISH, TBH. THEN AND NOW.
Also, why the fuck didn’t JAMMF ditch the coat as soon as they went into the woods? Not the smartest idea to run around in a bright fucking target, buddy.
OMG IT’S SO PERFECT THAT ONE OF THE FINDLAY’S DID IT. War is awful. War is random. And having a fucking pretty much child following the advice of his commanding officer, thinking he’s protecting his Colonel, be the one to kill Murtz is just the most perfectly tragic choice.
“Dinna be afraid... It doesn’t hurt a bit to die.” *sobs in Voyager*
I love that it’s Jamie’s men, who are ostensibly fighting for the English, are the ones who help him with Murtagh. Because, after all, they’re loyal to their chief and new clan, not the crown.
OMG ALL OF THEIR FACES THOUGH! JAMIE WITH THE GRIEF AND DENIAL AND ANGER AND BARGAINING! CLAIRE WITH THE GRIEF AND ACCEPTANCE! BREE WITH THE GRIEF AND DEPRESSION!
(Maybe not depression with Bree, I was just trying to fit in all five stages of grief.)
I’m obviously super sad to be losing Murtz, but this does feel like a good way to end his arc. With the added bonus of putting Jamie on the path to join the Revolution in a few years.
I’M JUST GONNA MISS THAT CROTCHETY FUCKER SO MUCH, OK! *drinks wine straight from the bottle*
Jamie ripping Tryon a new one is...not smart. But it’s what we all wish we could yell at the fuckwad. So carry on, JAMMF.
He’s being very Beauchamp-esque with this rant.
“I’ve paid my debt... and I’m finished with my obligation to you and to the crown.” Is that how that works though?
“You may have your coat back, sir.” A Mood™
I’m glad Claire kept his little scrap of plaid.
Ngl, I loved the Claire and Murtz relationship more than the Jamie and Murtz one. I am very sad for Claire.
Oh man, they are trickily ending on a high note*. We may have lost Murtz, but at least we’re rid of Roger!
*YMMV, don’t @ me.
But alas, next episode starts the saga of Emo!Roger. You can tell he’s gonna be alive because they show his one hand slipped from the handcuff rope and up at his neck rope.
We’ll deal with that next time. For this week, I’m just so fucking glad I’m still able to love this show and feel actually feelings while watching it.
I’ve missed that. So fucking much.

Toonami Weekly Recap 12/07/2019 (The Forge Edition, Week 5)
My Hero Academia Shie Hassaikai Arc Season 4 EP#68 (05) - Let's Go, Gutsy Red Riot: Eijiro and pro hero Fat Gum do battle with criminals while on patrol. However, the villains utilize drugs that can stop and boost Quirks and gain the upper hand. Eijiro must go beyond his limits to stop them.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind EP#06 - Moody Blues' Counterattack: A flashback details Abbacchio's past. He was once an honest police officer, but he began accepting bribes from a thug who then killed his partner, ending his police career. He later joined Passione after being approached by Bucciarati. Back in the present, Abbacchio uses his Stand Moody Blues to replay the last five minutes of Narancia's actions. Abbacchio and Bucciarati deduce that the enemy Stand, Soft Machine, has the power to deflate opponents like balloons and pull them into small spaces. Abbacchio suspects that there is one more mystery behind Soft Machine's power, and allows himself to be captured as well, leaving Bucciarati a trail of blood showing where the Stand user is hiding. Bucciarati floods the yacht and causes it to sink, forcing the Stand user, Mario Zucchero, to emerge. Zucchero is revealed to have been hiding inside a second yacht which he had deflated with his power and laid over the first. Bucciarati incapacitates Zucchero by unzipping his head from his body, rescuing the others in the process.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba EP#08 - The Smell of Enchanting Blood: The newly-turned demon goes on a rampage, forcing Tanjiro to subdue him and giving Muzan the opportunity to slip away, although not before hearing Tanjiro vow to find him again. Police arrive and attempt to pull Tanjiro off, but he is helped by a nearby demon, Tamayo, and her companion Yushiro. While she is a demon, Tamayo is also a doctor and hence believes in the sanctity of human life. She gives the siblings refuge in her house, hidden from prying eyes by Yushiro's Blood Demon Art, and explains how as every demon contains Muzan's blood, their whereabouts and movements can be tracked by him: should they mention him to anyone, their cells will be destroyed — this is called "the Kibutsuji curse". Tamayo reveals how after 200 years of relentless research, she has finally managed to undo Kibutsuji's curse on her and gain the ability to turn humans into demons, although this procedure is only performed on patients that are nearing the end of their lives and choose that path, Yushiro being one of them. She has also tweaked her and Yushiro's body so that they need to survive only with a little amount of human blood, purchased as blood transfusions. Tanjiro agrees to work with Tamayo to develop a cure for Nezuko, promising to let her study his sister's blood and bring blood from powerful demons related closely to Muzan for her research. Meanwhile, Muzan sends two demons, Susamaru with temari balls, and Yahaba with eyes with arrows for pupils on his palms, to find and kill Tanjiro.
One-Punch Man 2 EP#09 (21) - The Troubles of the Strongest: Bakuzan recognizes Saitama as the one who defeated him, but Saitama kills Bakuzan in one punch. Saitama formally introduces himself to Suiryu as a hero and explains that he joined the martial arts tournament to find the hero hunter (Garou) as well as experience martial arts. Saitama plans to leave but Suiryu begs Saitama to not to because Gouketsu is out there, but Saitama ignores him. Suiryu hears multiple blows and crashes, and thinks Saitama is killed when Gouketsu's decapitated head lands in front of him. Saitama returns and asks Suiryu to not tell anyone what happened, and Suiryu asks if he could become a hero. Saitama agrees, since a nobody like himself can become a hero but when Suriyu asks to be Saitama's disciple, Saitama declines. Puri Puri Prisoner manages to defeat a demon-level monster called Free Hugger by hugging it so tightly that it explodes. Meanwhile, Erina's secretary and childhood friend Hisako Arato, who Nao has a rivalry with, presents a mutton curry made using medicinal cuisine which undoes the curse-like effects of Nao's curry, scoring 92 points.

The series concludes with the world returning to normal, and Lupin's fame boosted by his recent exploits. An elf possessed knight attacks, forcing them to work together. They manage to bind his magic with Revchi's magic binding chains and then escape. The elf possessing Luck almost kills Noelle and Kirsch as their defence is ineffective against Luck's new power. Rhya wishes he could believe Asta’s words of peace, but having once believed the same of Tetia's brother he decides he cannot trust Asta. Rill, now possessed by an elf named Lira, joins the fight. Zora traps the two, allowing Asta to attack and cut Lira's chest, but it has no effect and Rill remains possessed. Rhya explains that as the reincarnation spell is complete and their souls have taken over the human bodies there is no longer a spell to nullify, so Asta's swords are ineffective. Three more possessed Royal Knights appear so Mereoleona forces Asta and Zora to escape while she remains behind to try kill all the possessed knights. Back in the capital her brother, Fuegoleon, almost wakes up again.

ADAS
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology is one of the the fastest-growing areas in modern automotive safety system development.
Active safety systems play a major role in reducing traffic fatalities and the financial fallout from vehicular accidents. ADAS systems include long- and medium-range radar and vision systems. Developing an ADAS system requires sophisticated yet cost-effective radio frequency technology which can be embedded in the vehicle to detect and classify exterior objects. A state-of-the-art radar system can differentiate between a vehicle and a pedestrian, identify the location of any potential hazard, and compute the vehicle’s corrective path.
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) aim to reduce road accidents and their associated casualties by helping drivers avoid collisions. ADAS systems may react faster than the vehicle’s driver, are constantly vigilant, and have already been adopted and deployed in various models ranging from premium to economy.
ADAS systems constantly monitor the vehicle’s surroundings, alert the driver to hazardous road conditions, and take corrective action such as slowing the vehicle, stopping it or steering it away from danger. ADAS systems use inputs from multiple sensors, including cameras and radars. The fusion of these inputs is processed and the information is sent to the driver and other parts of the system. The same sensor technologies can be used both in the current ADAS systems and in the upcoming fully autonomous driving systems (level 4 and 5).
The technician needs a manual that describes the preparatory steps before he/she can start the actual calibration using the diagnostics tool. The manual is based on the Vehicle Manufacturers’ (OEM) recommendations, but limits itself to the mechanical operations. The technician still needs to use a diagnostic tool.
We have identified the following Repair manuals; their availability will be based on the equipment fitted to the models.
(ADAS) 360° system camera: calibration
(ADAS) 360° system front camera: calibration
(ADAS) 360° system rear camera: calibration
(ADAS) 360° system side camera: calibration
(ADAS) Blind spot monitoring system: calibration
(ADAS) Forward-sensing camera: calibration
(ADAS) Front-corner radar: calibration
(ADAS) Lane-keep assist: calibration
(ADAS) Night vision camera: calibration
(ADAS) Radar unit aiming: calibration
(ADAS) Rear-view camera: calibration

“Lupin, i have one more thing to ask of you. Let me have your name. Let me be Mrs. Lupin. It's not for the tabloids, I'm being serious. No matter how far away you are, all you have to do is hear the name Mrs. Lupin, and you'll know it's me. It'll be our own secret code. I want you to see it, Lupin. To watch me grow into a...good woman. I need to grow up into someone you can't live without.“
-          Rebecca Rossellini, Lupin the Third (Ep. 26)
The Toonami Trending Rundown for January 20-21, 2018. It’s a night of ends and new beginnings as among other moments, Dragon Ball Super begins the Future Trunks saga, while Asta gets recruited by the Black Bulls, and of course, we reach the thrilling conclusion of Lupin the Third: Part IV.
On Twitter, Toonami would trend as with every show during their respective East Coast airings, as well Hunter x Hunter and Outlaw Star as well during their respective West Coast airings. Lupin The Third in particular trended both US and Worldwide, making sure it completed its current run on a high note. Meanwhile on Tumblr, Toonami would also trend as with Dragon Ball Super, DBZ, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Hunter x Hunter.
Tumblr media
This week’s feature was a game review of Animal Crossing Pocket Camp for the iOS and Android, as one of Nintendo’s first forays into conventional mobile devices. Interestingly enough, this was the first time Toonami has ever reviewed a game released on mobile devices, and was also reviewed by Dana Swanson, the voice of SARA, herself. It received a 7.5 out of 10 score.
youtube
As we begin seeing the English dub of the Future Trunks saga, those who watched ahead to where the sub is currently at will know that Toei has announced that the finale of the Universe Survival Saga, set to end in late March will serve as the series finale for Super. While this chapter of Dragon Ball will soon reach its conclusion, this most likely won’t be the end of the franchise, as Toei is presently hard at work producing the 20th feature film as well as mapping the franchise’s general path going forward, to say nothing about the manga, video games, and various other content for the future. Toei has hinted a potential continuation of the anime series down the line, so we’ll see what happens in the months and years ahead. Of course, we still have 84 episodes left to go until Toonami itself reaches that point, so this could allow the dub to catch up in time for the potential sequel, depending on how long this hiatus is among various other factors. Regardless of what happens, it’s been a great ride so far to see Dragon Ball continuing to shine both inside and outside Toonami’s scope, and I’m personally very confident on what the future of this great anime franchise is ahead.
And speaking of DBS, for those wanting to get more of your Dragon Ball fix, Arc System Works and Bandai Namco have just released the newest video game fighter to the franchise, Dragon Ball FighterZ, presently available on all major platforms except for the Switch.
To commemorate Lupin’s finale, Jose Argumedo and Discotek had another Q&A periscope livestream with several of the show’s staff and voice actors including Richard Epcar (co director and voice of Jigen), Ellyn Stern (co director and voice of several minor characters), Lex Lang (the voice of Goemon), Michelle Ruff (the voice of Fujiko), and Doug Erholtz (the voice of Zenigata).
Tumblr media
Ever since Monkey Punch began publishing the original manga in 1967, Lupin the Third has grown to be a very illustrious media franchise, with numerous manga, anime, anime films and OVAs and the like released over the decades. Back in 2003, Adult Swim in its early days aired 26 episodes of Part 2, though episode 3 was skipped over for content issues, and the remaining 129 episodes of part 2 never aired for various reasons. While Lupin’s legacy among long time Adult Swim viewers and Toonami Faithful isn’t as large as some of Toonami and Adult Swim’s other highly acclaimed and well requested classics, the series still is pretty well regarded among fans and the Toonami crew to this day, and it perhaps comes as no surprise that Lupin was looked into to make a comeback to the better cartoon show, especially with the series having a renaissance on the Japanese TV scene.
In 2016, Toonami attempted to bring Lupin back with The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, following the end of Michiko and Hatchin’s run (both series were directed by Sayo Yamamoto, whom would also go on to create Yuri on Ice) however issues regarding nudity (ie. too many boobies to censor) would have required Toonami to heavily chop the show’s content into bits barring objections from the network and advertisers, forcing them to choose an encore run of Samurai Champloo instead. While Toonami found a way to air the likes of Black Lagoon, Hellsing, Kill la Kill, and soon episode 23 of Outlaw Star with as little edits as they could to appease the network and advertisers in that regard, Toonami decided that that the amount of censoring needed that time around just wasn’t worth it.
But Toonami and Lupin fans would not give up, as over a year later, Lupin would eventually find its way back onto Adult Swim, as Toonami partnered up with Discotek to bring in the newest edition of the main Lupin series in part IV, the first acquisition for Toonami from Discotek and the first from TMS since 2003. While Discotek has been around since 2005, considering that they mainly focus on classic titles and underrated gems, including helping to bring IGPX DVDs back into production, and it wasn’t until 2016 with Lupin that they started producing dubs, its not a surprise that this company was under the radar from many fans and perhaps even the Toonami crew as an acquisition partner for so long. Then again, classics and underrated gems are sometimes just what Toonami needs.
One of the earliest hints that this was going to occur was when Jason released a poll to gauge interest on shorter shows like Tokyo Ghoul, Mob Psycho 100, and Lupin potentially airing on the block. While industry politics among other factors between Toonami and the distributors have unfortunately dashed Mob’s Toonami hopes for now, Tokyo Ghoul would get its shot on March, while Lupin would finally make its return on June 17, 2017 as Toonami premiered the English Dub premiere of Part IV.
26 episodes of Lupin and his crew doing what they do best and avoiding Zenigata to do so, finding love with Rebecca, and solving the mystery of Leonardo Di Vinci, and now this season is in the books. During Part IV’s run, the hashtag #LupinThe3rd trended in the US during all but 2 weeks of its run as well as worldwide during the season finale. The show did not produce any character trends or trended on tumblr during its run.
Tumblr media
For those wanting to check out more Lupin in the interim, Discotek has been hard at work producing and re-releasing Blu-rays and DVDs of Lupin’s previous installments and several films, so feel free to check those out. And of course, this won’t be end of Lupin as TMS and Telecom Animation Film are presently working on a part V to the franchise, set to premiere in Japan this upcoming April as Lupin and the gang travel to France, the home of Lupin’s grandfather. The sub will be simulcasted on Crunchyroll and Hulu.
Tumblr media
No word yet if and when Discotek will be tasked to dub the new season or if Toonami will pick up this new installment down the line, but we’ll see what happens. As I would say with every potential show and every successful Toonami show looking to return for a continuation, if you wish to see Lupin return for Part V and perhaps beyond, keep supporting the show by legal means and to send your show recommendations to Toonami's Facebook and Tumblr message boxes as well as letting Discotek know in their respective outlets.
youtube
Regardless of what happens, Lupin’s return was quite a fun ride for both fans watching since Adult Swim’s early days (and perhaps even before then) and the new fans it gained along the way, and I’m sure I can speak for every fan that we’re all looking forward to what adventures Lupin and the crew will be taking in the future. So until then, Arrivederci, Lupin, and hope to see you again soon.
Tumblr media
As previously mentioned, there was a show that was originally supposed to replace Lupin on the schedule, but unfortunately Toonami and the distributors ran into some legal issues preventing a broadcast, delaying the show announcement and premiere to a future date. We’ll keep you posted on when it does happen as well as any other incoming shows in the year to come, but in the meantime, Space Dandy will be having an encore run beginning tonight at 2:30 am, while Naruto Shippuden and Outlaw Star also move up to 1:30 and 2 am respectively in the interim. Until then, see you again next week and stay dandy, baby.

Jan. 16, 2019: In other news
MerleFest adds The Avett Brothers, others
Tumblr media
                                              The Avett Brothers
MerleFest,  presented by Window World, has announced new artist additions for MerleFest    2019: The Avett Brothers, Molly Tuttle, and Sean McConnell. The    annual homecoming of musicians and music fans returns to the campus of Wilkes Community College    in Wilkesboro, North     Carolina, in the foothills of the Blue     Ridge Mountains, April 25-28. MerleFest is pleased to welcome    these three distinguished artists to the 2019 lineup:
The Avett    Brothers: The Avett    Brothers first made mainstream waves with their 2009 major label    debut, I and Love and You,    landing at #16 on the Billboard Top 200 and garnering    critical acclaim fromRolling Stone, Paste, New York Times, Los Angeles    Times, andTime. In 2012, The Carpenterhit #4 on    the Billboard Top 200, while People, USA Today, and American    Songwriter lauded the album, the band appearing on Jimmy    Kimmel LIVE! twice in a few months' time. The eighth studio    album, Magpie and the Dandelion, debuted at #5 on the Billboard Top    200 and the band performed on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The    Late Show with David Letterman, and accompanied Chris Cornell for a Pearl Jam tribute on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
True    Sadness, the record that    followed, achieved The Avett Brothers’ highest career debut to date and    dominated multiple charts. The Rick Rubin produced album hit #1 on Billboard’s Top    Albums Chart, #1 Top Rock Albums Chart, #1 Digital Albums Chart, #3 on    the Billboard Top 200 and scored two GRAMMY nominations.    The Avett Brothers were inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame    in 2016. 2018 brought the HBO premiere of “May It Last: A Portrait of the    Avett Brothers,” a documentary co-directed by Judd Apatow and Michael    Bonfiglio. Days after this debut, True Sadness launched to    #3 on the iTunes Album Chart and #1 on the Rock Albums chart. In October of    ‘18, The Avett Brothers debuted a new song, “Roses and Sacrifice,” live    on Late Night with Seth Meyers and then released the track    officially in November ‘18, Rolling Stone calling it a    “joyous sing-along.” Also, in November of last year, the band headlined the    Concert for Hurricane Florence Relief in Greenville, North Carolina,    raising $325,000 to help those affected by Hurricane Florence. The    Avett Brothers continue to be revered as one of the top folk-rock acts in    the country and will perform on Sunday at MerleFest.
Molly Tuttle: Molly Tuttle speaks softly. Her voice is both    lilting and lucid, and when she says that she wants to create music that is    truly original and unmistakably hers, her quietness shifts into a steely    audacity that’s charming and almost funny––she’s only 25 after all. But    then you remember her songs and her playing. And it hits you: brash    beautiful originality is exactly what Molly is doing. The 2017 release of    her debut EPRise further introduced Molly to a roots music    audience who had already enthusiastically embraced and elevated her. Her 2017    and 2018 wins for IBMA Guitar Player of the Year were history-making as the    first woman to be nominated for the honor. The accolades kept coming in    2018 when Folk Alliance International’s International Folk Music Awards    awarded her Song of the Year for her song “You Didn’t Call My Name,” and    she was named Instrumentalist of the Year by the Americana Music    Association. With all of this recognition, it might be easy to forget that    Tuttle has yet to release a full-length album. Her eagerly-anticipated debut    album is scheduled to be released in early 2019 on Compass Records. Molly    Tuttle will make her MerleFest debut on Saturday afternoon.
Sean    McConnell: “I think    embracing the blurry lines is a sign of getting older and just having more    life experience,” Sean McConnell says. “It can be healthy to break your own    boxes.” Sean is home in Nashville,    reflecting on the path he’s taken to recording Secondhand Smoke,    his 13th album. A cohesive collection of modern folk music, Secondhand    Smoke asks provocative questions about how we become who we are,    what and whom we love, and the growth, pain, and freedom that come with    accepting that some answers might elude us forever.
Tim McGraw,    Martina McBride, Brad Paisley, Brothers Osborne, and more have all recorded    his songs. Sean earned his first Number 1 single on the country charts in    2018 with Brett Young’s delivery of “Mercy,” which the two co-wrote. As a    performer, he packs listening rooms and quiets unruly bar crowds. His    sound––a warm tenor painting vivid stories over acoustic guitar often cushioned    by keys or other strings––has prompted a diverse range of music scenes from    the storied Boston folk community to Texas’s defiantly self-sovereign camp    to warmly claim Sean as one of their own. “My payoff is just making the    music,” Sean says, then smiles. “Everything else is bonus.” Sean    McConnell performs on Friday at MerleFest.
“We are    extremely excited to be adding these artists to an already stellar lineup    for 2019. They represent the diverse talent that MerleFest is famous for,”    says Ted Hagaman, Festival Director. The three artists    announced today join over 75 artists initially announced in November via Rolling Stone    Country and the    second wave of artists announced last month. Headliners include Wynonna & The Big    Noise, Keb’ Mo’, The Earls of Leicester, Sam Bush, Tyler Childers, Brandi    Carlile, and Peter Rowan and The Free Mexican Air Force with Los    Texmaniacs. The Late Night Jam presented by The Bluegrass Situation will be hosted by Chatham County Line. In addition    to the above mentioned artists, the following will be performing at    MerleFest ‘19:
American    Aquarium, Andy May, Ana Egge & The Sentimentals, AZTEC SUN, Banknotes,    Bob Hill, Cane Mill Road, Carol Rifkin, Carolina Blue, Catfish Keith,    Charles Welch, Dailey & Vincent, David LaMotte, Dirk Powell Band, Donna    the Buffalo, Driftwood, Elephant Sessions, Elizabeth Cook, Ellis Dyson    & The Shambles, Gordie MacKeeman & His Rhythm Boys, Happy Traum,    Irish Mythen, Jack Lawrence, Jeff Little Trio, Jess Morgan, Jim Avett, Jim    Lauderdale, Joe Smothers, Jontavious Willis and Andrew Alli, Junior Brown,    Junior Sisk, Larry Stephenson Band, Laura Boosinger, Lindi Ortega, Mark    Bumgarner, Mark & Maggie O’Connor, Maybe April, Michaela Anne, Mile    Twelve, Mitch Greenhill and String Madness, Nixon, Blevins, & Gage,    Pete & Joan Wernick and FLEXIGRASS, Presley Barker, Professor    Whizzpop!, Radney Foster, Roy Book Binder, Salt & Light, Scythian,    Shane Hennessy, Si Kahn & The Looping Brothers, Steve Poltz, T.  Applications for the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest are now    open with entries accepted through Feb. 1. Named after the    one-time sidekick of Ricky Skaggs, the contest remembers Chris Austin, a    renowned singer and instrumentalist. After Austin lost his life in a tragic plane    crash, individuals close to him created CASC to help keep our memory of him    and his music alive. An esteemed contest for aspiring songwriters, CASC is    credited for helping up-and-coming talent gain exposure. Applicants will    have their songs heard by some of Nashville’s    most prominent music industry professionals, including host Jim Lauderdale.    Categories for consideration include bluegrass, general, gospel, and    country. The winners will perform at a showcase during MerleFest on Friday,    and first place winners receive $600 in cash and performance slots during    the festival. Net proceeds from the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest help    support the WCC Chris Austin Memorial Scholarship which has, since its    inception, helped 84 students and awarded over $34,600.  Tickets for    next year’s festival, as well as the Late Night Jam presented by The Bluegrass Situation, may be purchased at www.MerleFest.org or    by calling 1-800-343-7857. 1. Drink: Coke
2. Phone call: my uni best friend.
3. Text message: Sent: “but if you listen to the whole EP you end up crying.”  Recieved: “I love “Mirarnos” it’s such a good song.”
4. Song you listened to: "2U - David Guetta feat. Justin Bieber”
5. Time you cried: last night (or this morning if we consider it was almost 5 am) when someone started singing a song of one of my idols which always gets me emotional!
HAVE YOU EVER…
6. Dated someone twice: No.
7. Been cheated on: No.
8. Kissed someone and regretted it: Only once that I recall.
9. Lost someone special: Yes.
10. Been depressed: No.
11. Gotten drunk and thrown up: More times than I’d like to admit!
LIST 3 FAVOURITE COLORS: purple, dark turquoise, wine
IN THE LAST YEAR HAVE YOU…
15. Made new friends: Yes!
16. Fallen out of love: luckily not!
17. Laughed until you cried: Plenty of times.
18. Found out someone was talking about you: yes, and it was a close friend...
19. Met someone who changed you: not that I can think of in this last year!
20. Found out who your true friends are: I’d known for a while who my true friends are, but I must admit a few people had surprised me in a positive way!
21. Kissed someone on your Facebook list: yes!
22. How many of your Facebook friends do you know in real life: most of them, but there’s probably a few who I just have never talked to but we know each other because I used to compete and do dancing exhibitions, so they would add me on Facebook.
23. Do you have any pets: unfortunately not.
24. Do you want to change your name: No.
25. What did you do for your last birthday: study for final exams... But I had quite a small celebration with my family and boyfriend. And my friends gifted me with a concert ticket I wanted to buy so bad but I didn’t have enough money at the time (I had a trip to Rome to pay for!)
26. What time did you wake up: Taking into account that I went to sleep at 8 am... Yeah, I woke up around 3 pm.
27. What were you doing at midnight last night: playing drinking games before heading out to clubbing and karaoke because I’m afraid of firecrackers  😂😂 (it was a festivity called San Juan in Spain)
Name something you cannot wait for: September! London, I’m coming for you!
29. When was the last time you saw your mother? A few minutes ago.
30. What is one thing you wish you could change about your life: my anxiety (which is a lot more under control now), how shy I am in determined situations and I wish I were more of a good student, I’m making a big effort in university because I’m one of those people who always study the week before and it doesn’t quite work here. I wish I were able to keep things more up-to-date, though I try!
31. What are you listening to right now: a spotify playlist with a huge variety of songs. Currently playing Kings of Leon!
32. Have you ever talked to a person named Tom: if the Catalan version of Tom is accepted here, (Tomàs), yeah, I have!

34. Most visited website: Sadly, but truly, my university’s intranet.
35. Elementary: I have such good memories!
36. High School: it was difficult at the beginning because I enrolled in a new school and I’m very shy so... making new friends was kind of a challenge to me. But I couldn’t be happier with how it finally turned up!
37. College/university: I used to have a lot more social life back in high school, but that’s because I chose to study an engineering and I’ve always struggled with maths and physics, but I still like it so... Either way, I can’t complain! Luckily I’ll be graduating in 2 or 3 more years (I should be graduating on 2018 summer though 😂😂)
38. Hair colour: Brown

39. Long or short hair: Long! Although it used to be longer (it almost reached my lower back!). Now’s like mid-back long.
Do you have a crush on someone: I have a 10 number list that I made with a uni friend of guys that are “exceptions” (celebrities which you’d like to hook up with and with who it would be allowed to have sex even if you were in a relationship because it’s definitely not likely to happen). Guess who’s on top of the list? Yeah, Harry Styles.
41. What do you like about yourself: my will power and that I’m always willing to help and listen to people (even though some of them wouldn’t do the same for me). I keep telling myself (and my closest friends keep telling me) I should learn about it and stop being so naive and kind to some people, but I can’t help it!
42. Piercings: I used to have a second earring on my left ear but I removed it because it didn’t heal well. I want to pierce it again, though.
43. Blood type: 0 +
44. Nickname: Gemmi, Gem.

46. Zodiac sign: Capricorn
47. Pronouns: She/her
48. Favourite TV show: Gossip Girl (I don’t know how many times I’ve seen this TV series).
49. Tattoos: none, for the moment. I’ve had one in mind for 3 years now, but I’m kind of scared of needles so... And another handicap is that I have very sensitive skin (though I’ve looked up for similar cases in google and it doesn’t seem to be a problem).
50. Right or left hand: Right.
FIRST…
51. Surgery: does removing a freckle count as surgery?
52. Piercing: ears.
54. Sport: I used to play in the school’s basketball team when I was 5 or so.
55. Vacation: I don’t remember where, but I think we were camping. I was very young and my parents forgot my teddy bear at home, I spent the whole night crying and we had to head back home because I wouldn’t sleep or let the rest of the people near us sleep either (or at least, so I’ve been told!).
56. Pair of trainers: probably a pair of Nike.
57. Eating: but like breast feeding or properly eating? I don’t know, I think I liked the cereal pudding as a baby.
58. Drinking: I was breast fed so... milk? 😂 My first alcoholic drink was Licor 43.
59. I’m about to: probably go to sleep.
60. Listening to: the first song I listened to? 😂 I do remember I loved a song from a Disney movie of Mickey Mouse in which he was sailing! Currently, I’m listening to Feels by Calvin Harris, Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams and Big Sean!
61. Waiting for: getting my CAE exam done! I’m pretty nervous about it and, since it is not exactly what you’d call cheap, I really wish I pass it!
62. Want: a summer job to be able to pay for the London trip I mentioned before.
63. Get married: if I want to or if I am? I’m not but I hope I will someday, but definitely not in the near future.
64. Career: Hopefully related to microbiology, genetics or molecular biology (so basically, working on a lab). Actually, I always wanted to pursue a singing career, but since that is highly unlikely, I tried the science path. Still don’t knock it, though.
YOUR TYPE…

71. Sensitive or loud: Sensitive.
72. Hook up or relationship: now that I’m in a relationship I miss a random hook up but... I’ll stick with relationship.
73. Troublemaker or Hesitant: who doesn’t like the troublemaker?

90. Current best friend’s name: I consider my boyfriend my best friend, so it would be Samuel! But if we don’t count on that... Gerard!
91. Eye colour: Brown.
92. Favourite movie: I can’t pick just one... I have always loved (and I always will) Anastasia (the animated film from 20th Century Fox). Then there’s Love, Rosie and The Wedding Date.
