Ariel Carinae is based on Ariel from The Little Mermaid. She is a 29 year old mermaid, unemployed, and uses she/her pronouns. She has the curse of shifting in water. Ariel is portrayed by Paulina Singer and she is open.

CATCHING MY DEATH, AND I COULDN’T BE SURE

When you are young they assume you know nothing, had never been more true for the youngest Carinae sister. Even amongst six older sisters, little Ariel never quite fit in. She had imaginative dreams that were far too big for the Atlantic ocean. However being the youngest out of seven siblings it meant being under her father’s watchful eye constantly. Triton already had a preconceived notions about humans after Ariel’s mother had passed. He deemed them ignorant and reckless. No child of his would be seen with a land dweller, let alone his youngest pearl.

That still didn't stop the curious mermaid from exploring the world above. Eventually even saving a cute sailor from drowning when his ship had went up in flames. She didn't know his name; and he would never know hers. They were separated by two very different worlds. Fleeing back into the sea when he began to stir awake. It was from that moment on that something powerful began to awake in the mermaid. She didn't belong in the ocean, she belonged somewhere grander; amongst the humans. Though that seemed to be an impossible dream until she heard whispers amongst her merfolk of a powerful sea witch that granted peoples wishes. Fletcher and Sebastian both protested but Ariel had always been headstrong, and when she wanted something she went for it whole heartedly. Ursula was the witches name, she was charming and well spoken nothing like she had expected. But she was warned that every wish had a price. If Ariel wanted to live amongst the sand for forever she would need the prince to fall in love with her before a full years end. If she failed she would lose her feet and become a mermaid again with no voice. It sounded like a small price to pay, and while Ariel hesitated this was her dream. So she signed the dotted line and before she knew it everything went black.

When she awoke it was in a little town called Evermore, and while the world was still spinning with all these new changes she finally had feet!! It was a tricky feat to learn at first, Ariel wobbling about like a new born fawn, but soon enough she had this walking thing mastered. There were a few drawbacks though, something Ursula had failed to mention before she signed her contract. It didn't matter when or where but If Ariel submerged herself in water her tail and scales would grow back in a matter of minutes. Which meant no dips in the public river or pools--but at least it was better than not exploring the surface at all. That's when she began her search for her prince, the sailor she had saved from shipwreck. When she spotted him it was like the stars had aligned, she must've had a merguardian after all! Until her world crashed around her when it seemed he had no recollection of her or his accident. Ariel wallowed in this sadness until she decided she'd try to jog his memory somehow, she had a year after all. Maybe there was still time...

I HAD A FEELING SO PECULIAR

❀ Jenson Samuels: They haven't spoken, when he's near Ariel tends to run away. Something about him so menacing and broad, and most of all familiar. Her gut continues to tell her to stay away, and for once she's going to listen to her intuition.

❀ Violet Parr: The first friendly face Ariel encountered in Evermore. While it had been Ariel's dream to be a land dweller she still isn't quite used to their customs. Usually Violet is her go-to for all things human related, and she's a good listener.

❀ Pentiss ‘Tootles’ Laurent: Ariel hopes to never see tootles again, spilling her drink on him at neverland one day. afraid she was about to sprout gills and a tail she took off running. to this day she's embarrassed to enter neverland and find him there again.
