LISTEN LISTEN, I know we’re all sad and disappointed at Mal’s reunion. BUT we need to talk about how this man did whatever he could to keep the memory of MC close to him when they were gone.
Lord Wesley of RIVERBEND????? Mal claiming to be from MC’s hometown?? People died, I am people.
Him telling stories about MC to his kids????????
Building the orphanage when MC disappeared because he needed a purpose?? And the one he picks is the one he wanted to achieve, WITH MC. (for my fellow Mal-romancers out there)
I know we were all expected a big, dramatic reunion, but I honestly think this one was pretty good too. I think the emotions we were hoping for was THERE, it was just subtler.

outsiders red dead AU I'm actually crazy about
here's johnny and pony in the au I literally beamed my vision onto my screen like no one's business. anyway AU rambling in the undercut. if you even care
OOOOKAY I'm seriously crazy about this. I need whoever's reading this to LOCK in. Gangs in red dead are just that, but the difference between theeir 1960s counterparts is that they're far less restricted. Because it's the 1800s.
There's a variety of gangs, but the Curtis gang are tighter knit and don't just let anyone join. And by that I mean they haven't opened applications in like 1 gazillion years because they all met when they were young so they're locked in 4 lyfe and don't really trust anyone else because it's actually crazy out here. everyone and their mama has a gun it's like 10x more dangerous to trust the wrong mf also because it's literally the 1800s everybody is wilding
Shepard's gang is also real here and they're a lot more fucked up and evil than Curtis's, but they're also just a lot, lot bigger and have a lot more mouths to feed.
misc facts I don't care to weave into something comprehensible:
- the gang forces Pony to wear his bandana near constantly because he's like the one member of the gang that doesn't have metaphorical chains around their wrists locking them into being an outlaw until they die
- Ponyboy and Johnny's horses, while more drawn to their owners, trust PB and Johnny an equal amount which means they can just switch horses whenever. It's free horse. The rest of the gangs horses are more accustomed to their one rider. Dallys' hates literally everyone. Even Dally. but he's a really good horse to have in a shootout, and Dally likes him.
- Soda loves his horse so bad and he refuses to take him on any real dangerous expeditions. He rides with Darry and his shire horse in those events
- Soda's horse is also the most pampered. And Extremely spoiled
- Two-bits horse has tried to eat his hat on more than five occasions
- Even though they seldom ever have access to one, Steve is a FREAK about automobiles. They're pretty new to the region but if there's ever a chance to get ahold of one in a heist Steve is risking it all to get his hands on one. Even if they don't keep it for long (because it's kind of inefficient in their situation) Steve just likes taking them apart and putting them back together
- Steve's horse hates anything with wheels. inconsolable
- Steve has to ride several paces ahead or behind whenever they're traveling with a wagon because of this. He tried getting another horse at one point, but Idiot (Accidentally named) the Horse wouldn't leave him alone and no other horse liked him.
- Ponyboy used to want to participate in more of the gangs work, but as he got older, the less it appealed to him. Even if he was raised on it
-The Curtis parents unfortunately died a little earlier in this. Darry was seventeen.

Another day, another braindump about BTVS Spike.
It is so entertaining to me how he's so much the Perfect Romantic Lead(tm). Like, to an absurd degree.
He's a bad boy, he's got a heart of gold (ish). He's good with kids (one kid: Dawn), and moms (one mom: Joyce). He's personable. He might try to kill you and drink your blood after, but he would grab a drink at the pub with you if you asked. And he's funny, and perceptive, and interesting. He's well-traveled and has lived through huge fascinating swathes of history. And, he's down-to-earth and relatable, despite all the murder and being a creature of the night stuff.
He pays goddamn attention! He's the man who would see and appreciate your new pair of shoes, and if you've changed your cologne. He has opinions about music, and literature, and art. He's a poet-punk (two things which aren't mutually exclusive but are so appealing when smooshed together - the pb&j of ways to be).
He's an old-timey Victorian gentleman! He's a cad! He can probably ride horses AND a motorbike. He's a polyglot. He loves his mother and isn't ashamed to say it! He's a monster, and he's a victim.
He's never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna desert you to stalkerish degrees. He would literally die for you and you wouldn't even have to convince him to kill for you.
He's loves big romantic gestures and you know he'd never miss an anniversary (he'd be annoyingly good at remembering). He'd be all-in putting himself out there, no withholding out of fear or shame.
He'd be equally happy chaining you up and letting you chain him up. He canonically loves to give head (which is so smart of him). He's strong and deadly, but he'll follow your lead.
He's muscular yet compact.
He's been a nobody softboi and an infamous Big Bad. He's got a cool nickname and a dumb one - and the opposite is also true.
He's a vampire, but he would defy his monstrous nature to be your love. He wants to possess you, but more than that he wants to be yours.
If this were romance tropes bingo, he'd fill up the whole board... makes me want to lie facedown on the ground because it's just too much. It's honestly kind of ridiculous. This is the kind of dedication that can only be achieved by someone who doesn't have a day job.

What D&D classes would the CKC cast play as, and what would be their playstyle?
cody - changeling rogue. he'd get obsessed with trying to ride on the back of a hill giant instead of just freakin' killing it, and would probably forget he can do stuff like shapeshifting/bonus actions/etc 80% of the time. he's pretty deadly when he's locked in though, but it'd take some proof and convincing that an enemy is worthy of death. he'd also doodle while playing, heavily distracting him, but at least by the end of each session there's a bunch of silly drawings his friends can flip through.
mini - changeling cleric. the twins are both changelings cuz of everyone in the series, i think they're the only ones that've achieved being losers, cool kids, gods, averaged, AND banned. she's actually a big fan of making overly complicated plans, whether it's a heist, a jailbreak, you know she's got a dozen pastel gel pens to plan it all out! unfortunately she's got horrific luck, consistently rolling under 10. at least the plan goes well when someone else is carrying it out.
peter - human paladin. he has perfect recollection of all the rules and likes the game to be as immersive as possible, because convincing himself he's really a heroic paladin that people like and respect was his copium as a loser. that being said, post-series pb would have a bit more fun, especially with cody there to involve him in all his crazy antics.
juvie - tiefling barbarian/fighter multiclass. they frequently have to reassure their team they're not a violent psychopath irl, it's just that if you're playing in a world where you can do anything, why WOULDN'T you give every kobold a uniquely gruesome death and decorate your camp with their guts as a show of force? anyway they're very combat focused.
peggy - wood half-elf druid. any chance she has to transform into a unicorn she takes (it's not technically allowed but daniel allows her to turn into a horse that has a horn for flavor). she mostly trots around, eats apples, gives people horsey-rides, makes friends with other animals and often demands that daniel allow them to resurrect their friends (ahem cody) whenever they miraculously die.
holden - human bard. he actually brings his guitar and plays a short tune whenever he uses bard magic, it really adds to the immersion! he's also the party-face, meaning he's in charge of persuading the guards not to imprison everyone just because juvie tested the flammability of the local tavern's liqueurs. after a dozen of these instances he's gotten in the habit of telling guards "i've never seen that tiefling in my life."
daniel - elf wizard, (though he'd focus on dming, he'd probably include his own character in the campaign at peggy's request because "he'd be left out" if he didn't). his character would offer important exposition when it's already too late and punish the others for their reckless shenanigans by not helping them when they're in a bind. "it's better for character growth" he says.
gigi - sorcerer. she'd immediately grasp the rules, min-max the hell out of her character, remind people to use their ability modifiers and always be on the hunt for the best equipment, often getting holden to help bargain for them with his high charisma stat. her gamer-brain's also got a good memory for the lore of the campaign. "where was the grand exchange again?" "it was north east of kragmaw, remember?" "..." "in that cave in the side of the mountain?" "..." "you caused a cave-in that cut the water supply off from the local town, displacing hundreds?" "... ooooh, right."
rhyme - astral elf. would join the campaign a bit later than the others since she'd still be getting used to the friend group and all. everyone would welcome her in and they'd all grow as friends. she's annoyingly good at everything as always, yet somehow whenever she's near, mishap seems to follow. juvie's certain she's up to no good but no one believes them, until some pivotal moment when daniel reveals he'd invited her to play as a double agent on the side of evil and in order to complete the quest they must all fight to the death. when asked why the hell he'd do something like that he says "dammit i told you cody, FOR CHARACTER GROWTH!!" rhyme has stellar acting and everyone fights her with teary eyes, until... i dunno, they find some secret option of exorcising her of evil and completing the quest and no one dies and yadda yadda happy ending. anyway juvie gives a very well-deserved i told you so and rhyme admits her being the secret villain was a bit on the nose but she enjoyed the theatre of it all.

What are some Choices books that you feel if they came out today, they’d probably be single LI books? Because I've given it some thought and I'd say some of them might have been:
The Royal Romance: Would have absolutely been a Liam-only book (I’ve talked about this a bunch in the past), so you’d end up marrying the heir to the throne, Liam/Lia instead, and honestly it would’ve probably worked out better for the writers in the long run if they were only going for a specific narrative instead of trying to force the one-arc-fits-all thing most players have complained about in the series at some point.
Ride-or-Die: Not only is MC’s attraction to Logan something that sets off the story, but I also can’t imagine Colt or Mona being love interests following how modern books are. Don’t know what f!Logan would be called, though.
Save the Date: I mentioned this once before, but I think it would’ve been a Justin book which would’ve leaned harder into a “forbidden romance”, but I imagine this book having come out in their affairs era because it would have been the epitome of the stuff PB loved back then: an LI who’s MC’s “boss” and also I maintain that they would’ve made Justin/Justine the one having the wedding, and of course you’d end up breaking them and their fiancée up, so there’s that other component PB was obsessed with. But since that wave of books seems to have ended (abated?), then the engagement/fiancée arc possibly wouldn’t be a thing today, but there’s every chance they’d still throw in a gf to be MC’s rival as a subplot.
I also wonder if they’d have made Open Heart a single LI book (they practically did anyway) but the thing about OH is that it’s not mandatorily a romance book, so for that they’d have had to make the romance a main part of the story.
━━━━⊱⋆⊰━━━━
But at the same time! Are there any recent(ish) Choices books that you feel would have been multiple LI books in the past? Because I’ve got thoughts about that, too, but the only thing I've got so far is:
Crimes of Passion: Ruby and Luke would’ve absolutely been romanceable, and they’d have been a bigger part of the story for it, too. The MC x Trystan romance doesn’t really play a crucial role until b2 anyway, and everything that happened in b1 could’ve been accomplished with them as good friends as well. Trystan would’ve still been the main LI, just not the only one.
And then sometimes I've wondered if TCH (b1 at least, if they hadn't planned it as a series) would have let you choose whether you ended up with Kieran or a Sun Court LI (potentially Radiance if they weren't a traitor and dead—moreso because of the dead part because even as a traitor they could've had the same b2 arc they gave Aerin in Blades 2, since Radiance is already a copy of b1 Aerin), but idk, probably not, since the series hinges so much on Kieran being in love with MC and them having that Beauty and the Beast thing going on.

"The Dalton Affair" is the reason why I always take PB's excuse of not giving other books sequels because of "resource issues/funding issues" etc with a massive grain of salt.
Because you're telling me they had the resources to re-write The Nanny Affair again from Sam's perspective, yet they didn't have it for Most Wanted, Ride or Die, and other books that were slated to get a sequel but didn't? Or the books that were stand-alones and got piss-poor endings because PB just gave up in the end? Granted, it's probably going to be just a book of re-used sprites and backgrounds with some scenes added in from when Sam shown in the story, so it's probably costing them very little to produce, but still. Kind of icky that a book literally NO ONE asked for AND had a proper ending to begin with is getting a reboot and they left other books with half-assed endings and kind of went "oh well. Sorry not sorry"
The whole book just screams desperation to me because this is exactly what happened with the whole wedding/baby fever a few years ago. They were so desperate to see the same level of success (and money) from the first time they had a wedding/baby that they kept knocking book after book out with weddings/babies that the hype died down and the books dropped in quality.
"The Dalton Affair" will probably see some type of success, but I just have a feeling this is going to turn into the smutty, adult version of Royal Romance. Where they just keep going back to milk the series over and over again until someone stepped in and told them they had to end it.
