oooOOOoooo trick or treat oooOOOoooooo~ -ypq
🥰🎃 (pretending i didn't peak halloween-wise last year with Katabasis but)
i'm going to be sooo gross and sappy and give you a FULL SIZE treat! A headcanon, a song that makes me think of Peg, and a snippet
🎃 headcanon: Hawkeye is the main cook of the triad, and he knows everyone at the local farmer's markets by name. He remembers everyone's favourite dishes and cooking is a way of relaxing and showing his partners how much he loves them. He also teaches Erin to cook.
🍬 a song: "Against the Wind" by Bob Seger is a song that makes me think of teenage Peg running for the nearest coast as soon as she was old enough.
🍭 a snippet, from 'make of our hearts, one heart' aka vow renewal fic/Homeverse 5/triad wedding:
Hawkeye is holding up a well-thumbed copy of The Big Sleep, but instead of opening it, he grins at her. “You know you’re making the rest of us look bad?” “How do you mean, darling?” “Well, you may have noticed that you’re the only one on this beach reading serious literature.” “Oh shut up.” “In fact, I bet you I won’t understand a word of it – I failed reading in kindergarten,” he says, swiping the book from her lap. Peg makes a futile effort to take it back, embarrassed, but Hawkeye already has it, opening it to a random page. She holds her breath, and then groans as Hawkeye makes a confused face. He starts to read. “And then, Captain Chapman reached for his ray-gun, eager to save his first officer from the clutches of the beautiful but deadly Tholian women…” “Give me that,” Peg says, making an ineffectual swipe for it, as Hawkeye cackles, holding it out of reach and continuing. “He could not deny that they were very alluring, their gently undulating bodies a siren’s song despite the repulsive green skin covering them. He fired, and fired, and fired again, but they were immune to the blasts from his ray-gun…” “Hawkeye!” “You know, I don’t remember ray-guns being used in Anna Karenina,” he teases, and she flushes hot, embarrassed. “I- Well.” He tugs the dust jacket from the book, revealing the truth. “Aha! The Green Sirens of the Tholian Empire. A fine piece of literature.” “If you’re quite done, I’d like that back,” she says, trying to maintain some level of dignity.
