seeing people so upset about the potential end of papa emeritus iv’s ( from here on out referred to as copia in this post for simplicity ) reign is both touching and aggravating lol. it’s very sweet & speaks greatly to tobias and the band’s talent in getting us all so attached, and the growth of ghost as a whole beyond just the satanic pope gag - but i’ve seen some people really, really upset about it. to the point of making downright viciously nasty comments about how they won’t be supporting the band or interested in anything else they may put out once copia is no longer the frontman, among other things.

not for nothing, folks, but copia’s eventual retirement as ghost’s lead doesn’t come as a surprise. this is part of the bands whole schtick and has been since its creation. yes, copia is the anomaly in that he has already far surpassed the life expectancy of a papa -  but tobias himself had mentioned previously that copia’s run would likely only last two cycles. i get not everyone is aware of him saying so, but .... this is the internet. it’s not hard to acquire that knowledge if you’re looking for it, or even if you aren’t. everyone has a favorite era & papa, understandably, but some of you have to not involve yourself SO emotionally to the point of nearly self destructing when that era comes to a close, bc that’s a prophecy that should be expected to come to fruition.
