If you play as chaotic during the Trolls Trouble you can kill the Troll king first, and then spare Tartuk. You can recruit him as a vassal and give him a kingdom of kobolds.

In the last chapter, he joins you as your companion (if you are neutral)!

He is a great sorcerer!
