my week in pictures. finally got some claw clips because having my hair fall out of its usual bun while i'm working is nigh unbearable. took some time to re-read deathless by catherynne m. valente as well as it has been so long since i picked it up. i finally finished this sketch and am satisfied with how it turned out.

a small digital doodle break while planning out another personal project. i have also managed to thrift another reference material for my illustrations. admittedly, i haven't made much progress with the one i am currently working on (1/18) but this works best with me. i like to keep a list of tasks that i can consult if i ever find myself wanting a break from my current project. see example above, wherein i take a break from the pachyrhizus erosus illustration (project a) to doodle some packaging illustration elements (project b) that i would use at a later date.

a practice on drawing foliage as i await for news on my enrollment status. i've pre-enlisted quite early so i'm not worried but my hands ache to do something.

starting the semester armed with a new notion set-up and some pre-made pharmacology notes.

the notes i prepared beforehand essentially go over the lesson outline that was given beforehand (read: in the morning) and once the lesson commences, i annotate on the points of discussion that i have overlooked or need to include in the finalized copy for this session.

we also finished up an entire unit for the first day and i spent the remainder of it polishing my notes---this will have to tide me over while i wait to get my hands on the textbook---and prepping for the discussion we will be having tomorrow. it was a successful day and i hope to carry over this momentum for the entirety of the semester.

it's been a while but i just finished my finals. currently planning out prompts and projects i want to do before we resume classes. i also managed to de-stress by resetting now that i finally have the time to do so. here's my current workspace now that classes are done (for the semester) and a new plant to keep me company.

received this mug last christmas and i have never been so enamored with a drinking vessel before--- i admit, i'm quite eager for my first cup of caffeine for the year, as i have finally recovered from imbibing an ungodly amount. i am currently working on overcoming my fear of working on a large-scale piece with this warm-up sketch. i usually work within the confines of an a5-sized sketchbook. this is a welcome change of pace.

my classes finally start tomorrow! the first subject i'll be having is pharmacology and i am looking forward to it. honestly, i could not think of a better subject to start the term with.

found my old sketchbook and it flipped open to this side by side illustration of a quisqualis indica (f. combretaceae) and ehretia microphylla (f. lamiaceae) plant. i scanned the illustration, edited it to mimic a faded stamp, and printed out the quisqualis indica sketch with my thermal printer and i am absolutely enamored with the results. the sketchbook contains the illustrations of the top ten approved medicinal plants by the department of health.

decided to give my hands a break and dedicate more time to decimating my tbr pile. only a few chapters in and i find myself unmoored by the beauty of the writing. it is like sharing a wound, the pain echoing through the fathomless depths of this writing.
