he's an insane individual and with each new post on social he blows my mind. i have personal experience in PR and presenting an individual as a brand and let me tell you, the awareness charles has about himself is INSANE.

let's have a look at the subtle changes charles made in 2024 to his instagram:

here's his winter break feed from 2023:

out of all these posts, only one could be considered as "silly" (the pizza eating one, HOWEVER, it was part of a carousel that also featured serious pictures of his training).

now let's look at 2024 winter break feed:

i marked it on the feed itself, but he hasn't posted a single serious pic from his training in the dolomites (and he was on a 24hr skiing trip from italy to austria i may add so that would be a huge flex -- again no post). he chose to post a picture of him falling, a video of being insane and sliding down a mountain, and then eating an icecream in the snow.

now, re: his brand awareness, his lore goes CRAZY. back before christmas he had a Q&A on threads where he said his fave ice cream flavour was vanilla, people judged him. he went on to make a whole photoshoot with a vanilla ice cream. not many people would connect it, but it just shows how aware he is of what he shares with the general public.

he also now features much less ferrari on his IG. also worth noting that to match his feed, he wore exclusively red jacket during his winter training last year to match the other pictures where he wears the ferrari red suit. now, his feed is more neutral, less red for sure. i'm not saying it's him going to a different team. i personally think it's him building his own brand and trying to distance himself from being JUST a ferrari driver.

now, i made a whole post about charles and his relatable posts but just admit, would you be more likely to notice a post where he does something silly, unexpected, authentic, than a perfectly staged professional training photo? exactly.

in fact, his ice cream pics gained 1M likes SO FAST - he posted them around 6pm and reached a million likes before midnight. now it's on 1.6M likes. bear in mind he has "only" 13M followers. that means he manages to activate a huge number of his followers to engage with his posts. to compare, lewis has 35M followers. how many likes do his posts reach? around 700k likes if they aren't racing related. do you see how insane this level of engagement is?

he has a good understanding of the social media environment, and understands that showcasing his personality more rather than a crafted PR image works to his advantage.

he seems then more approachable, stands out in the crowd of other drivers.

also one thing that i noticed is how insanely well his branded posts do. branded posts underperform, that's a fact. but charles' branded reels get millions of views -- 12.8M views for the apm monaco promo, 25M views for his meta promo.

to compare other non-branded content, his piano reel from 22 weeks ago got around 7.7M views. ferrari posts that were co-posted by charles gain around 3-5M views if you look at the usual performance.

the pattern is clear -- charles is outgrowing ferrari and the brand that ferrari offers. the individual brand that he crafted for himself is getting stronger, and him and his team know how to navigate in it and capitalize on it. he no longer is tied to ferrari, or even racing. he can do well enough with a video of him playing a piano than a video of him scoring a pole position.

again, racing is in charles' blood and at his core, he's a racer, but having such a strong individual branding as an internet personality is a huge advantage when it comes to brand deals, sponsors, and the contract negotiations he could be having.

that being said, what you see on social media does not have to be reality. it can be a carefully crafted pr image. HOWEVER, charles also has a great advantage of the thousands of meetings with fans that claim he was incredibly nice. or meetings with partners, that always cannot stop complimenting how approachable and interested he was in person.

that also benefits him, people always want to root for/support people that are genuine in real life, and charles seems to live up to that expectation.

i was revisiting the instagram tributes that other drivers posted for seb and it got me thinking about what they would post for max when he inevitably retires in 2028. i think lando and daniels would be funny, pierre and alexs too. not sure who would be on the grid by then but maybe liam or yuki is his teammate and they would post something too. but what has me in a chokehold is what charles’ post could be like. would he post a picture from the karting days? would he have won a championship by then and post one of the two of them from the fia gala? what would his caption be?

Max is a big softy, okay. HE would be the one to post them in their karting years, because he is the first to remind everyone they grew up racing each other (to combat the nostalgia of course he’d pick a photo from when he won his CIK-FIA World KZ Championship).

It has to be the Austria ‘22 Podium, could it be anything else? Even with his rudimentary (and sometimes obliviously innocent) understanding of social media, in my mind even Max is aware how iconic this moment was.

In regard to the champagne chase, I think for most of the paddock it was a silly little haha moment - like Fred being at the McLaren celebrations in Miami. No one really thought much of it until Max cornered Charles against the wall.

Pierre, who very much did see it was like 🤨 ‘now what’s going on over there?’. He’s probably the most suspicious of them, considering Charles was bitching to him about Max not even 24 hours earlier. But he also grew up with Max and Charles and has seen them beefing with each other and lowkey flirting with each other for years, so he’s also not surprised at all.

They’ve been friends for years, he knew about Charles’ first kiss, he assumes Charles will probably tell him about whatever is happening with him and Max when he’s ready 🤷‍♀️.

There’s blurry photos of the Charles against the wall moment, Max’s hand pushing his hair back from his head. Twitter is understandably losing their shit, but it’s blurry, so who’s to say if Charles is smiling or frowning. He could be happy, he could be pissed off. All anyone really knows about Charles and Max’s relationship thus far is that Charles used to kart with him and that they bicker like a married couple over the radio - so who’s to say, everything is rumors and speculation at this point.

TAYLOR SWIFT CONCERTS UNDER THREAT

9 August 2024

            Taylor Swift has cancelled three concerts in Vienna, Austria after an Islamic terrorist attack plot was uncovered by authorities. In Vienna, two suspects were arrested on Wednesday, 7 July 2024. One of the perpetrators homes was searched and various chemicals were discovered. The authorities discovered that the terrorists were planning to target Swift’s concerts at the Vienna stadium. Swift will be increasing security at all her concerts from now on and hopefully from now on all will be safe.

            It was only July 2024 when three young Taylor Swift fans were at a dance party, and were murdered in northwest England. The perpetrator was a male teenager 17, who intended to kill as many children as possible. His family came to England from Rwanda in 2002 and even though he had murdered and harmed innocent people the authorities are protecting his identity, still to this day his photo hasn’t been released.

            On 22 May 2017, 22 innocent people were killed in an Islamic terrorist attack at an Ariana Grande concert in England. The two perpetrators intended to target children and had injured over a thousand people. At the inquest it was found that more should have been done by British police to stop the attack and that the authorities acted ‘too slowly’. Grande had to cancel concerts concerned for her fan’s safety. Many of the deceased were aged under 20; one was aged 8.

            It’s very sad that terrorists are now targeting teenagers and children, in places where they go just to have fun and they should be safe.

The Connecticut Whale is a professional hockey team that plays within the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF; formerly known as the National Women’s Hockey League, or NWHL). The Whale is one of the Founding Four teams in the league and the only one of those four that has yet to win the Isobel Cup. They were really bad for several years, but now they’re really good!

my best friend got into it first, and spent the better part of two weeks to watch dts so that i could get a general run down before she let me watch races. and the only reason i did end up watching it was through her showing me a photo of charles leclerc everyday for a week of the two, and wore me down.

who was the very first F1 driver you supported? do you support them now? have your opinions on them differed or stayed the same since then?

danny was the first driver i watched and paid attention to, and i still do keep up with him and wish him all the best. and i would say that my opinions on him have evolved with time and his ever changing situation.

who’s your current favorite F1 driver?

if it isn't already obvious, it's carlos. my top 3 is carlos, charles, & danny. theyre my guys

maxiel is really the only pair that i would say i support. i think of them so often, more than charlos or even carlando. maxiel is real special to me. i think galex is a close second because ever since it an anon mentioned the idea of george and alex in merc together, i havent been able to shake it.

i am the only person who really keeps up with f1. but id like to think my mom supports carlos bc she asks about how he does sometimes. (also fernando bc... viva españa!)

KOKIA has caught the travelling bug ahead of 2010, which is the year her album REAL WORLD comes out. For the concept of this album, she travels to the Sahara, Tunisia in November 2009, getting inspired by the sceneries she comes across. The promotional video for her song The woman is recorded in the desert, and her journey also results in a photobook and photo exhibition later that year.

It inspires her Japan concert tour oto no tabibito ('sound traveler') in April, selling out the Tokyo Bunkamura Orchard Hall on the final day of that tour. She uses lights and sounds more whimsically than before, taking her audience on a journey through the heart. As a fun tidbit, one of the dresses she wears in this concert is dyed with curry!

However, her 2010 travel doesn't end there; for the fifth year in a row, KOKIA returns to Europe, spreading her wings even further than before. Her REAL WORLD tour in October takes her through 8 different countries for 12 performances: Hungary, Russia, Poland, Austria, Germany, Spain, England and France.

In between it all, KOKIA still manages to release the final chapter of her Life trilogy (with the title tracks of all 3 singles ending up on the REAL WORLD album) and her first ever cover album, Musique a la Carte. This is also the year when For little tail, her song that preceded her actual debut, gets an official release with the digital single Road to Glory ~long journey~.

Kaman will develop logistics UAS prototype for the U.S. Marine Corps

Kaman Air Vehicles, a division of the Kaman Corporation, was selected to build a logistics UAS prototype for the United States Marine Corps (USMC).

Kaman will build a funded military version of its KARGO UAV, which was first presented by the company in September last year.

The medium-sized autonomous KARGO UAV carries up to 800 pounds of payload and is designed to operate in austere environments.

The USMC project is being managed by NAVAIR PMA-263 under the Medium Unmanned Logistics Systems - Air (MULS-A) program. After the prototype is built, the KARGO UAV will complete a field user capacity assessment performed in an operationally relevant test environment.

Kaman began the development of its KARGO UAV last year and flew on a scale demonstrator in the fall of 2021 to prove the concept. A large-scale demonstrator is under construction and the first flight is scheduled for later this year.

Near Earth Autonomy, from Pittsburgh, PA was selected as the autonomy provider in the KARGO UAV, and parallel tests are underway for the autonomy systems that will be employed in the Marine Corps prototype.

“We have been following the need for expeditionary logistics for some time,” said Carroll Lane, president of Kaman’s precision product segment. “And we are excited to see our R&D efforts focused on providing an affordable, reliable and sustainable logistics vehicle lining up with such an important program as MULS-A.” Lane emphasized that the development of the KARGO UAV for the U.S. Marines would continue to be a priority in the near future.

The company says that the KARGO UAV was developed with the future operational concept of the Marines in mind, with a design optimized for expeditionary employment. The compact format of the system fits in a standard CONEX transport container and is designed to be unloaded and operated by only two people.

En Rumanía, unos días después de la caída del muro de Berlín, el ejército confraterniza con los manifestantes que masivamente protestan contra el régimen comunista, por haber disparado las fuerzas de seguridad de la ciudad de Timisoara contra los manifestantes, por lo que el gobierno de Ceaucescu es derribado poniendo fin a 42 años de régimen comunista. Ceaucescu y su esposa huyen de Budapest en helicóptero mientras un ayudante apunta con una pistola a la cabeza del piloto. Tras simular un fallo mecánico, el piloto logra aterrizar. Ceaucescu es capturado por las Fuerzas Armadas en un control de carretera. En juicio apresurado Nicolae Ceaucescu será declarado culpable de asesinato de masas. Él y su esposa serán ejecutados el 25 de diciembre por un pelotón de fusilamiento. La televisión rumana difundirá las imágenes de sus cadáveres a todo el mundo. Son rescatados en los Andes los 16 supervivientes de un avión estrellado después de haber estado 72 días aislados del mundo. Civil Twilight October 22 - November 25

Civil Twilight occurs just after sunset and the moment when the geometric centre of the sun is at 6 degrees below the horizon. 

Caught before the beginning of day and beginning of night, twilight beckons the end. A bewitching intermission before the changing worlds. A palette cleanser for the next act. Twilight is the thin edge of the thaumatrope of time, flickering at speed as memory merges the transitions from day to night. In summer; morning light beckons a flight of song, and evening calls on those who invade, leech and crawl through the darkness. Winter dawn brings thaw, slowly tearing at the frost delivered by night, dusk brings time for cold to once again take hold. Twilight offers an exchange of knowledge for secrets and secrets for knowledge, day exposes and night shrouds. Harmony is found as twilight balances the scales.

 Civil Twilight is the stage curtains for day, still keeping the dreams of night alive. Night offers few answers, and it's mystery compels. Day offers opportunity, to those willing to engage with its tribulations. In the heavens above, Civil Twilight offers daylight a glimpse at theatrics. The fade in and eventual out signalling its presence. Daylight offers calm and new beginning. Night consumes the world stage, emotions are amplified. Night needs no introduction and dusk as it's opening beckons it's intent. 

From the corner of your eye Civil Twilight performs its ritual. The sky's leading star, washes with rich flourishes of reds, pinks, blues, and yellows, the announcement of change is rarely without spectacle.
