Asymmetry: Though I usually love capturing monuments or structures very symmetrically, sometimes I get this urge to get the shot at the spot that it appeals to me, than shift to a more aesthetic position. Sandy Skies: Pondicherry is the kind of a place that you'd remember for the rest of your life, should you visit once. Although experiences differ, the way this place makes one feel is pleasant, warm and peaceful. Situated between the old sea and the new city, the New Lighthouse of Puducherry is neither magnificent nor splendid in its build but neither are mirrors. It is what they aid you see, that brings you awe and this lighthouse is no different. The view from atop this structure is refreshing. With gales that drown out the voices in your head, and a view that seems like it's plucked out of a colouring book, with piers, residentials, undergrowth that averages at 10 feet high and billows that keep their distance, the experience is indescribable and after more than 2 years, it is still fresh in my memory. ~A.J. #hymnofhues . #oyocation #pondicherry #pondicherrydiaries #tamilnadudiaries #tamilnaduphotography #tamilnadutourism #photographers_of_india #photographers_of_hyderabad #photographersoftamilnadu #poio_ #TLPicks #travelphotography #travelrealindia #_coi #picxy #incredibleindia #lpmicontest #indiadiaries #lpmiphotochallenge #natgeoyourshot #coloursofindia #_m_o_i #traveldiariesindia #_soi #pondidiaries #pondicherrytourism #puducherrydiaries #puducherry #indiantravelgallery (at New Light House Pondicherry) https://www.instagram.com/p/B3cXq1tJaYD/?igshid=11kojv840fmha

Historic and now home to history, itself, Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal is a palace turned museum that now houses sculptures, petroglyphs, headstones and herostones, declaring deaths, sacrifices, victories and charities through the kingdom. Located very close to the main streets of Madurai, this palace is a must for folks interested in history of the city and its reign as capital, long forgotten. Although many ignorant people have graffitied and ruined the walls and some displays, the palace is largely intact with interesting patterns for lenses. ~A.J. #hymnofhues . #thirumalainayakkarmahal #thirumalainayakkarpalace #maduraidiaries #maduraitourism #indianarchaeology #dravidianarchitecture #tamilnadudiaries #tamilnaduphotography #maduraiphotography #tamilnadutourism #photographersoftamilnadu #photographersofindia #travelrealindia #_coi #picxy #lpmicontest #indiadiaries #indiapicture #natgeoyourshot #yourshotphotographer #snapseedindia #traveldiariesindia #poio_ #oyocation #_m_o_i #_soi #coloursofindia #bobbyjoshi #lpmiphotochallenge (at Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal) https://www.instagram.com/p/B3KUfbHpyLK/?igshid=1fvpokwshdpyd

Empowering: Whilst people like Donald Trump and organization like shell are still trying to keep fossil in the market, as primary fuel options, and Trump himself spreading fake news of "windmillcancer", places like Chettikulam and Kudankulam are progressing admirably for a great cause, harnessing windpower alongside Pavagada and Kurnool's solar parks. The government of India has also launched an initiative where people can register for a solar panel for their homes. You can watch these gorgeous windfarms from aboard the Kanyakumari Express, from Rameswaram Via Madurai 🖤 . ~A.J. . #hymnofhues . #chettikulam #chettikulamwindmills #kanyakumariexpress #windmill #windmillphotography #windmillcancer #windfarms #windfarm #windfarming #windfarmindia #tamilnadudiaries #tamilnaduphotography #tamilnadutourism #photographersoftamilnadu #photographersofindia #poio_ #traveldiariesindia #_soi #_coi #travelrealindia #travelphotography #picxy #indiadiaries #natgeoyourshot #traveldiariesindia #photographers_of_india #indiantravelgallery #_m_o_i #photoaddicts20 (at Chettikulam) https://www.instagram.com/p/B260Sepp_pB/?igshid=zs4emx2s6b7a

Waterfronts: Rameswaram, though popular for its rich culture and historic prominence, is now gradually shedding it's pristine naturality, feather by feather, and getting made up to attract more masses of tourists. Some potential environmentally hazardous frontiers are springing up that pose a direct threat to local martine ecosystems. But as always, lack of control and regulations on businesses as long as they pay, is going to prove heavy on the rich wildlife of these waters. ~A.J. #hymnofhues . #rameswaramdiaries #rameswaramisland #rameswaram #rameswaramtourism #tamilnadudiaries #tamilnaduphotography #tamilnadutourism #photographersoftamilnadu #photographersofindia #poio_ #traveldiariesindia #_soi #_coi #travelrealindia #TLPicks #travelphotography #picxy #indiadiaries #natgeoyourshot #yourshotphotographer #traveldiariesindia #photographers_of_hyderabad #photographers_of_india #indiantravelgallery #_m_o_i #lpmiphotochallenge #coloursofindia #coralreefdestruction #photoaddicts20 (at Rameswaram) https://www.instagram.com/p/B24P52VJYq5/?igshid=4tg3wyepit5j

Submarine Springs: One of the most compelling features of Indian mythology & fiction, that bring legends so close to reality that most still bear faith in reality of such stories, is how ancient writers incorporated real structures & phenomenon into their tales, particularly what're seemingly bizarre & inexplicable to men of those times, adding a virtual genuinity to their version of origin of these wonders, purely for a lack of alternate/real explanation for their existence. What you see in this frame is one such wonder & has one of the greatest works of literature wound about it; The Ramayana. What is brilliant is writers of that era took real world entities & wrote of their unknown origins with surreal inceptions as plots of their works & did such a great job that even today, many forget that these creations from the books aren't actually how they came to be. "Villoondi Theertham", literally translates to "Spring from arrow/bow piercing". The original story from mythology spins off this way: After defeating Ravanabrahma of Lanka, Rama was returning with his associates & Sita through shores of Rameswaram (arguably named after a Sivalingam placed here by Rama) priorly known as "Gandhamadhanam", when Sita expressed thirst. Rama, lowered his bow into the sea (shot an arrow into seabed, in some versions) to bring forth a spring of fresh water, from underneath the saline sea water. It is uncommon phenomenon like this that bind readers to legends when no other explanation exists for such an absurdity. Complete credit to the brilliant writers. But scientifically speaking, this phenomenon is natural & common as rivers merging with seas. Sometimes these inland streams flow into seas at such shallow depths that the crust gives way, & streams flow outward. This particular submarine stream has a well built for pilgrims to draw water & bathe in. Truly a very interesting place with calmer seas and milder waves. . ~A.J. #hymnofhues . #villoonditheertham #rameswaramdiaries #rameswaramisland #rameswaram #tamilnaduphotography #tamilnadutourism #photographersoftamilnadu #poio_ #snapseedindia #traveldiariesindia #_soi #_coi #_m_o_i #travelrealindia #natgeoyourshot #ramayanam (at @ Villundi Theertham, Rameswaram) https://www.instagram.com/p/B21yU1cJgAC/?igshid=wvclkebktl6t

Mosaics: India is a perfect example of how cultures, faiths, and their architectural lives can be influenced, morphed, and even birthed, colliding with existing systems, invasive ones, both docile and aggressive, and newborn counterparts too, propelled by time and time alone, through aeons and generations. For this particular post, let's reflect a little about architectural impact. What you see in his picture is amalgamation of religious structures of South India. If you've been to southern part of the subcontinent, you'll have noticed that most, if not all, hindu temples have a tall flag mast or Dhwaja-Sthambham erected besides the main temple. This was once, and rarely still is, used as a flagmast for rites and ceremonies, and is claimed to have scientific purpose of acting as a lightning arrester. This statue that we see here is mounted on top of exactly the same kind of mast, that is disjoint from the main shrine structure but is connected. This is a common sight with Churches of Kerala and Southern Tamilnadu, and mostly associated with Syrian Christian Shrines that have visible influences from Jewish and Hindu architecture here, signifying that peaceful and harmonious coexistence is not a fool's dream, even in the aftermath of colonial division between the natives where religion was wielded as a separatist's dream weapon. On a side note, notice the symmetry in the frame. When capturing structures that have tiers/layered constructs, symmetric captures tend to appeal to my perceptions more, as compared to simpler compositions where I do not weigh it as much, prioritizing a fresh approach than a regular and appealing take. #hymnofhues ~A.J. . #RetchakarChurch #Kanyakumari #Kanyakumaridiaries #tamilnadudiaries #tamilnaduphotography #tamilnadutourism #photographersofindia #photographersofhyderabad #photographersoftamilnadu #poio_ #TLPicks #oyocation #travelrealindia #_coi #picxy #indiadiaries #natgeoyourshot #traveldiariesindia #_soi #piers #photoaddicts20 #india_highfive_photography #pierofkanyakumari #kanyakumaripier #kanyakumarisunrisepoint #kanyakumariviewpoint #coloursofindia #_m_o_i #_soi (at Kanyakumari Pier) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2zL_o7Jp_4/?igshid=dgj07iu3kzi7

Cultural Capital of TN: Madurai leaves a warm, happy trace in you , once you travel through here. The people, the architecture, the culture, everything reflects what is at the heart of this grand Tamil land. People here are kind, generous and helpful and treat travellers with great respect and veneration. The architecture here is reminiscent of multitudes of ages through India, as Cholas, Pandyas, Tuluvas, Mughals, and scores of Europeans have left trails of their own strokes and stones, behind, to live through death as reminders of the cultural mosaic this city is, for generations to come. And on the other hand, modernization is pacing up, no slower in comparision with many other emerging cities in the country. Malls, Multiplexes, roof-top lunges and restaurants, arcades, you name it, it's all happening at Madurai. This is one of the things that I hold great respect for this place for, they seemingly struck the perfect balance between modernization and cultural preservation. The other thing that had me crazy for this place is the food. I stayed here for over three and a half days and I still can't get enough of their Parottas or Jigurtanda or the Valaiappam. Street food here is like no where else I have travelled to; you have invasive dishes like panipuri and local classics loke Idiappam coexisting in harmony. This place is a foodie's homehub. Although, for me, the best thing about this place was how drastically they have changed with respect to resource utilisation and environmental conservation. You eat in leaves, drink from paper straws, and no single use plastic anywhere. One of the best places to tour in monsoons 🖤 ~A.J.#hymnofhues . #photoaddicts20 #maduraidiaries #maduraitourism #maduraiphotography #madurai #madurai360 #meenakshitemple #meenakshiammantemple #madhurameenakshitemple #madhuraimeenakshi #madhurameenakshi #tamilnadudiaries #tamilnaduphotography #tamilnadutourism #photographersofindia #photographersofhyderabad #photographersoftamilnadu #phoindoffl #TLPicks #travelphotography #travelrealindia #_coi #picxy #lpmicontest #indiadiaries #indiapictures #natgeoyourshot #yourshotphotographer #indiantravelgallery #traveldiariesindia (at Madhura Meenakshi Temple) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2mU29Mpqfi/?igshid=1wvcnjriuw4nq

Love of Lighthouses: I have always been drawn to lighthouses as abstractions of lures that draw men away from the arms of seas as opposed to a welcome landing. That said, I have always been mesmerised by their structural transformation over ages from being whale-fat lit domes to blinding photon beams of today. And though the new light house of Pondicherry is still a juvenile as opposed to its aged cousin, it offers a greater view of the sea and of an amalgam of the old and fresh parts of the town. . ~A.J. . #oyocation #pondicherry #pondicherrydiaries #tamilnadudiaries #tamilnaduphotography #tamilnadutourism #photographersofindia #photographersofhyderabad #photographersoftamilnadu #phoindoffl #TLPicks #travelphotography #travelrealindia #_coi #picxy #LPMIxWPD #lpmicontest #indiadiaries #indiapictures #natgeoyourshot #yourshotphotographer #snapseedindia #traveldiariesindia #_soi #pondidiaries #pondicherrytourism #puducherrydiaries #puducherry #indiantravelgallery #hymnofhues (at New Light House Pondicherry) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2jyKSBJDzw/?igshid=dan6dq0mdxpt

Unmanned: There exist places that still thrive in luck of being too normal to not attract to itself some human infestation and this "secret" pier of Dhanushkodi is one such beauty that is still safe from the trail dusts of litterers and polluters. I actively make an effort to not tag such places to their exact locations or tag their pictures zeroed in, in an attempt to preserve their desertedness, which is the lone factor that has & will save them and let them just be. This pier once served as a loading dock for sea-trade and is a souvenir that remains to serve the locals on fishing expeditions. And since this pier faces exactly the opposite way from the other pier I spoke of in a different photograph on 7th, towards the Bay of Bengal, it has absolutely zero wave force, laying calmly. And calm enough for schools of average sized fish preying on schools of smaller fish and clear enough for me and my pal to watch that hunt. The only thing that reminds you, when you're here, that you're still in Dhanushkodi is the same gush of gales that battle your hair, all the while. Because this scene is a perfect contrast to the desert and ruin that Dhanushkodi actually seems, with its tropical looking skies and lighter billows and its waters abundant with life. #hymnofhues ~A.J. . #dhanushkodi #dhanushkodibeach #dhanushkodidiaries #tamilnadudiaries #tamilnaduphotography #tamilnadutourism #photographersofindia #photographersoftamilnadu #poio_ #TLPicks #oyocation #travelrealindia #_coi #picxy #LPMIxWPD #lpmicontest #indiadiaries #indiapictures #natgeoyourshot #yourshotphotographer #pierphotography #traveldiariesindia #_m_o_i #_soi #_woi #rameswaramtourism #rameswaramdiaries #indiantravelgallery #coloursofindia (at Dhanushkodi, Tamil Nadu, India) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2efjg_J-Ry/?igshid=x0mgbmixh3wj

Raging: my love for piers is only paralleled by my love for seas. And this one is as best as it gets. This pier of Dhanushkodi lies almost as a virtual barrier between the two ancient places: Dhanushkodi and Rameswaram, with each on either side of this pier. The drive through here to reach the ruins of Dhanushkodi is one of the most unforgettable rides of India. The sands, unbound by rock or sea, lash onto drivers, as if inthe middle of a sandstorm, all day, all year. I warn you to have your windows rolled up or your helmets and shades tightened shut as these sands shoot through you like bullets in a war zone, all thanks to the gales raging from open seas, rushing through this tiny strip of land, to meet the Bay of Bengal on the other side. This pier, in particular, South to wards the Indian Ocean enjoys a continuous battery from the International currents, making this pier lay closed for any adventurers to venture to its end. But you can still approach it, up to a distance and enjoy the violence of the seas as you watch the unstopable waves crash into this immovable pier, with warcries, as were thunder, promising their return. Truly a place not to be missed when visiting Tamilnadu or Rameswaram. . ~A.J. . #dhanushkodi #dhanushkodibeach #dhanushkodidiaries #tamilnadudiaries #tamilnaduphotography #tamilnadutourism #photographersofindia #photographersoftamilnadu #poio_ #hymnofhues #TLPicks #oyocation #travelrealindia #_coi #picxy #LPMIxWPD #lpmicontest #indiadiaries #indiapictures #natgeoyourshot #yourshotphotographer #snapseedindia #traveldiariesindia #_m_o_i #_soi #_woi #rameswaramtourism #rameswaramdiaries #indiantravelgallery #coloursofindia (at Dhanushkodi- the GHOST TOWN) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2HXjdwpaGX/?igshid=1w1j0j4t09kwf

Another one from the shores of Rameswaram. This place has absolutely knowledge me over with its melancholic aura. Even in brightest days and on warmest nights, you can feel the ancient bones of this place rustling right beneath the surface of these sands, waiting patiently for someone with genuine obsession, to be rightly rediscovered. What began as a leisurely pleasure trip soon rolercoastered into a full-plume history tour with Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi offering such irresistable relics and being the sucker for colonial structures that I am, I was and still am completely obsessed with its calmness, its humility, the people, and particularly its crown of ruins from ages that lay lost between pages of history.
