"The Veil is torn" I think this phrase needs to be put in the shelf until people start understanding what it means and also applying it correctly.

My parents think my response to when a women asked me the following question question is why stopped being pursued in my Catholic community. It was a lighthearted discussion but maybe they are right lol. Although every single happily Godly married couple who I asked this question to (seperately from each other) has given the same response, my parents included.
So, the question:
No nuance button because nuances is already baked in. We are assuming both spouses are able to make a sandwich (nobody is in a full-body cast or had brain cancer or whatever).
AND NO NASTINESS
Edit: or if you were hypothetically married. As I am not and I know my answer

My best friend just lost her baby boy. He was supposed to be delivered Christmas day. Instead she has to deliver a dead baby. He was full term. She and her husband have a house full of baby things for their now dead baby. He was their first. We are shocked because everything was supposed to be fine.

Is there room in the kingdom of heaven for the truely weird women seen as dirty and unrefined by fellow Christians but prudish and bigoted by everyone else?

My friends who's baby died at Christmas is finally being buried on Easter Sunday. They did not plan it that way, that's just how it worked out. I saw the tiny coffin, handmade by her mother, inlaid with a cross. She stitched little hearts made from his blanket to be placed in with him. Please continue to pray for them and all others who have lost children. They cannot try again until some medical issues are dealt with and the grief is indescribable.

I'm sorry that this happening and causing so much distress. Take heart that as humans we should be truth seekers and be willing to hear what people say, but I will add that just because someone is better at debating than you, that doesn't make them correct. I would probably stop trying to communicate with this person for now. Not because you are conceding the argument or running away but because it's causing a lot of distress right now and that's not helpful.
So the Old testament does have tough verses but the good news is that arguments based on those are nothing new. I don't know the specifics, but here are a couple articles looking at the slavery aspect. I am Catholic so most of my resources are coming from that tradition but for this topic there shouldn't be that much of a difference between denominations.
Additionally, here is the link to a legitimate site where you can email an actual apologist, show them the argument the person is making, and get clarity on it for your own sake. They will respond and have a conversation with you.
I also could send you an ebook that goes over a lot of the "hard sayings" in the Bible if you are interested in that, I can share it with you privately. I hope this is helpful to your faith journey.
On a deeper level though, try not to pay too much mind to your feelings about God. I don't really have any feelings when it comes to God unless it's anger. But there are little pricks of faith and joyful feeling sometimes. What I do know is that there was a man named Jesus (even most atheists believe he existed) and he claimed to be God and he was killed and in doing so claimed to gave us eternal life and his followers insisted even unto horrible deaths that this man rose from the dead. So I am confronted with the choice to believe him or not. There isn't a middle ground. I must follow him even if it's into death or i must scoff at him and declare good riddance. This isn't a "good" argument but I would much rather live as though this man was telling the truth than not. I would much rather believe that that this pit in my soul will one day be filled and I will be confronted with Reality that I cannot now comprehend then not. Arguments will go back and forth, my despair and emotions ebb and flow like the tide, but at heart I am a romantic and I simply can't believe all the goodness in the world is just random chemicals buzzing around my brain. All I can do is say "Lord, I believe, help my unbelief" and obey what he says even though I might feel nothing at all. Faith is not a feeling, thank God it's not a feeling. I know nothing on earth will make me truly and completely happy, but if there is a chance Jesus might, then I am taking that chance.
God bless
Hey sorry if this is an intrusion but I saw you ask for prayer regarding an atheist making arguments you couldn't refute. I don't know what denomination you are but there are lots of very solid apologists who you can email or call and they will help answer questions. I don't mean to oversell it, but I doubt there is an argument that could truly stump them. Most arguments (for or against God) are not new. If you would like some resources feel free to let me know. Praying for you 💕
I would really appreciate anything that you (or anybody else) have to offer. For now, I feel that nothing could ever convince me, I feel utterly defeated and humiliated, and I hate myself (and God, if He exists) to no end.
I was going to make an attempt to respond to that atheist, and I had already started looking up sources, but the more I read, the more my head spins, and the less sense I can make of it. I have some sources at hand, but I feel that, at the end of the day, no matter how hard I try, it's all futile, and the atheists will win no matter what. After all, I had a feeling that, like so many other good and beautiful things in my life, even Christianity was "too good to be true"...
The issues which that guy (gal?) touched upon was the OT law with regard to sexual infractions (Deut. 22), and the issue of slavery, by the way.
Thank you anyway. I will appreciate any help that you can offer.

I feel conflicted emotions about this but I have been nicknamed "The Priestmaker" because I've had two men decide to start discernment right after going on a date with me and while I am genuinely happy to be a part of their greatest happiness, it is a bit of a blow on the ol' ego.

I never had issues reading books as a kid with mostly male characters in them, nor did I ever wonder "why isn't a girl in this? I guess that means I can't do it either :/" like it never occurred to me. I pretending to be Luke and Frodo and Knuckles the Echidna just like I pretended to be Belle or a fairy. I didn't need an explicit book with a girl doing a certain job or in a certain role to be inspired by it or realize a girl could do it too. Although frankly not all books are supposed to be inspirational. Thye are supposed to be good works of art or entertainment. My parents didn't even particularly encourage or discourage this and they are fairly "traditional" in their gender roles. I am starting to think maybe some people are just more easily influenced than others or just stupid. Anyway I'm off to write more stories with no female characters again.

"Where you are wrong is in saying that you are a history of horror. The meaning of the Redemption is precisely that we do not have to be our history."
-Letter from Flannery O'Conner to her friend Betty Hester, after the latter had disclosed some of her past sin that she felt horribly guilty of.
