Pierrot and Mime clowns
I have now decided that I shall draw my versions of every clown, which of course started with the pool dunk clowns, and now moves on to the pierrot and mime clowns
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tips and such on the pierrot and mimes below 👇!
Pierrot and Mime clowns are some of the quietest species of clown, as well as the the most monotone most of the time.
Not many know this, but mimes are a species bred from pierrot.
The first of mimes were created after some people started wanting pierrot without the caps. This has actually lead to many problems in mimes.
Pierrot tend to be very quiet, but they can make a few quiet sounds, but Mimes are completely mute, which is one of the problems.
They also cant see as well as other species of clowns, and tend to keep their eyes closed most of the time, as they are usually pretty useless to them.
They also tend to be very anxious without something to cover their head and it is recommended to get them a hat or more, preferably a beret, as well as have them pick one for themself, whether shopping in person or online. Their hat tends to be the most colorful thing about them if the hat does have color.
They also tend to like lace accesories, and unlike with other types of clowns it actually can be a good thing to buy your mime see-through bouncy houses, as well as other transparent items. Other clowns can have vision thats similar to a birds when it comes to things like glass and such, but mimes often like transparent items.
Pierrot actually have a slight relation to sad clowns, though nobody knows how exactly they are.
They tend to only make sounds, like little sighs or the jingling of bells, when sad or in a similar mood.
Usually, they only have color in their eyes, but occasionally some will have what looks like faint blush on their cheeks, and even more rare is color on their frills.
Most of them tend to like transparent items, but they tend to be anxious in transparent bouncy houses, like with most clowns.
Both species tend to be quite shy and introverted, and it isnt recommended to introduce them to other clowns when you first get them, as they most often dont trust that you wont lead them into a dangerous situation yet. Though, they tend to be more peaceful when with other pierrots and mimes.
If you are planning to get several different types of clowns, it is recommended for your first clowns to be pierrot and/or mimes if you are planning to get them, so that when you get them they arent immediately introduced to a strange new clown when they are still getting used to you.
Especially if they are a mime. Mimes tend to get more agressive with clowns new to their lives than pierrot do, and though they dont tend to actually be dangerous, they can get themselves hurt by picking fights with clowns that are strange to them.
If you were planning on getting one of them or both of them, or if you are now, hope these tips and such helped!

Fire and Hemlock Readalong - Part 2 Chapter 5
In which Polly becomes a clown.
If you remember the stolen pictures, we've been seeing them manifest one by one - there was the horse, and the people playing violins in the form of the Dumas Quartet, and now the clown picture as Polly ends up playing the lead in Pierrot, an Italian pantomime about a sad clown who is crossed in love.
It's actually Nina who gets cast as Pierrot, but when she literally breaks her leg Polly has to take over.
This is once again a crossdressing role, and very queer. Nina in particular tends to show up in queer situations, first as King Herod, then as Pierrot. She's becoming obsessed with the Doors, which parallels her to Seb, a boy. And in the play itself:
It was quite easy to pretend to be crossed in love, because Columbine was a very pretty Third Year girl called Kristie Jefferson. Polly and Nina much admired Kristie. On the other hand, neither of them liked the red-haired girl called Fiona Perks, who was Pierette.
So I'm definitely here for bisexual Nina. DWJ calls Nina "silly," but there's a lot more to her than that. She crosses boundaries as much as Polly does, just in different ways.
Polly attempts to circumvent the Leroys' prohibitions by having Nina send Tom tickets to the play with the note "I am in this. Call me Pierrot. The O.C. is an egg-shaped locket with T.C.'s hair in it."
More on that in a moment.
The way DWJ describes the second performance is very magical:
She had a sudden sense that she was part of a transparent charmed pattern in which everything had to go in the one right way because that was the only way it could go... The pattern had been there always, even though they were all making it at just that moment.
Tom is there, so it could be Tom's magic, or perhaps Polly's, or the two of them together. Polly's is the magic of knowing things, Tom's is the magic of creating things, and this is very much at the intersection of both. Or perhaps it's not but rather a metaphor for the rest of the magic, but that seems too simplistic. Everything in this book is layered.
Polly manages to meet Tom after the show for just a moment - we later learn that Fiona, who desperately wants to be friends with Polly, secretly followed her and watched the encounter. Tom is there with Mary Fields, which prevents them from talking too much about hero business. In a way, Mary represents Tom turning away from the hero business and the imaginary world as well. He is doing it partly to protect Polly, as he is starting to realize his relationship with her is not entirely appropriate, but it's a halfhearted effort. Honestly I feel bad for Mary Fields; she's positioned by the narrative to be the Other Woman, but she's clearly a decent person. She doesn't like Polly, probably because she can tell Tom's relationship with her is strange, but she makes an effort to be nice to her.
The horribly ironic part about the rift between Tom and Polly is that Polly has figured out exactly what the Obah Cypt is, but neither of them realize it because they're both so distracted by their ordinary problems.
On her way home, Polly encounters Morton Leroy, who attempts to warn her away again. He brings up the opal necklace:
"Do you truly think that pendant you wear is going to keep you safe? It won't. I got its measure a while back."
This is another thing that is merely hinted at, and you have to work out what it is around the edges. @no-where-new-hero pointed out the significance of the pendant as a sort of double-edged sword, and also its relation to her disconnect from Nowhere. Jewelry, after all, is a grown-up thing symbolizing womanhood over girlhood and tomboyishness (though not entirely; rings and lockets are acceptable in hero worlds as long as they are enchanted and possibly evil).
The implication of Morton's words is also that it does or did function as protection, perhaps keeping her safe during her last visit and allowing Tom to form the quartet. But by now the Leroys have managed to turn it to their advantage, the way they do with other aspects of reality, as shown by their next move.

The IR fandom are such a sad fraction, I try to be as respectful as I can, but seeing their crap in the bleach tag makes me furious, I saw what you were referring to, funnily enough they pretend to like ByaRen, how does anyone ship something when they HATE one half of it?? They're so bitter about losing I'd feel sorry for them but again I agree with you; based on what we see they're might as well be real life bullies. Renji and Rukia are canonically sexually active IRs be mad forever :D
I know, it’s really frustrating. I also wish to be as respectable as possible, as my motto is “Ship what you want, but don’t be a dick about it”. However, a good number of IR fans are so cruel and horrible that I truly feel sorry for all the nicer, kinder fans that have to put up with their fandom’s bad reputation and get bullied every time they have a different opinion, are alright with IchiHime, or try and tell the bullies to leave us alone.
Honestly, it’s really telling when those people will treat one half of ByaRen like absolute crap all while licking the feet of the other character; it’s disgusting, and it furthers my theory that those fans just hate poor people, since they practically worship and lick the feet of all the wealthier characters (like Byakuya, Rukia, Ichigo, Ishida). They also give the genuine ByaRen fans a bad name; I ship Byakuya and Renji because I like their interactions and their dynamic, both as a couple and as a BROTP. The spite-shippers just “ship” them to get Renji out of the way, and I hate it.
(Nothing against RenRuki tho; I think they’re cute together, but I prefer them as a BROTP)
I am sick of them constantly mocking Renji’s name and appearance; some of the stuff they say about him is so creepy, racist, gross, and really just boggles my mind. They think Renji’s a loser??? How the hell does one look at this guy…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
…and think he’s a loser/Nice Guy™/Cuckold (god, I hate that word)??? God, they really think they’re fooling us when they reblog one or two sexy pics of Renji, but no meta, no appreciation posts, none of those things. Like, they’re so transparent lmao.
Renji is such a beautiful character: he’s got a complex personality and motivations, stays true to himself, and always strives to better himself. He’s a character with depth, and there’s just so much in him to work with; he’s one of my most favourite characters to write about. And it saddens me when people ignore those traits for the sake of their “jokes”.
(I also seriously loathe Studio Pierrot for how they’ve treated Renji, and the day they go bankrupt, I won’t even mourn them; I’ll just laugh because they’re such a disgusting studio)
They just make themselves stupid on purpose for the sake of shipping and bullying other people and honestly, I’m so glad I only got into Bleach a year after it ended, when I was 19 years old. I know for a fact that if I’d tried to get into the fandom when I was 14 or something, when I was going through rougher times and was more depressed, I would’ve been even more miserable and in a super dark place because I definitely would’ve been bullied for not shipping IR.
And I agree with you, as if Rukia would ever be unsatisfied with a sexy and sweet man like Renji as her husband ;-) Hell, she’s a very lucky woman, and the haters just can’t handle that fact.
And besides, the more the haters hate, the more I feel like creating more positive Renji-centric content out of spite :D So don’t let those haters get to you, and let’s just keep on fighting back against their shallow, gross mockery and keep on making Renji as the sweet, sexy badass that he always will be!
Thanks for passing by~!

Styles and Techniques: Making of Naruto
Naruto (ナルト) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by the Mangaka, Masashi Kishimoto. It tells the story of Naruto Uzumaki, an adolescent ninja who is a brash and reckless ninja, searching for recognition from his peers and the village and also dreams of becoming the Hokage, the leader of his village. The story is in two parts, the first set in Naruto's pre-teen years, and the second in his teens.
Tumblr media
The manga was adapted into an anime television series produced by Studio Pierrot and Aniplex, which broadcast 220 episodes in Japan from 2002 to 2007; the English adaptation of the series aired on Cartoon Network from 2005 to 2009. Naruto: Shippuden, a sequel to the original series, premiered in Japan in 2007, and ended in 2017, after 500 episodes.
Tetsuya Nishio was the character designer for Naruto when the manga was adapted into an anime series; Kishimoto had requested that Nishio be given this role. Directed by Hayato Date, and produced by Studio Pierrot and TV Tokyo, the Naruto anime premiered in Japan on TV Tokyo October 3, 2002 .
Tumblr media
The total cost of a single episode of Naruto is between  $100,000 USD and $300,000 USD, which includes:
Original work - 50,000 yen ($660) Script - 200,000 yen ($2,640) Episode Direction - 500,000 yen ($6,600) Production - 2 million yen ($26,402) Key Animation Supervision - 250,000 yen ($3,300) Key Animation - 1.5 million yen ($19,801) In-betweening - 1.1 million yen ($14,521) Finishing - 1.2 million yen ($15,841) Art (backgrounds) - 1.2 million yen ($15,841) Photography - 700,000 yen ($9,240) Sound - 1.2 million yen ($15,841) Materials - 400,000 yen ($5,280) Editing - 200,000 yen ($2,640) Printing - 500,000 yen ($6,600)
Naruto is basically animated by 2D animation unlike Hollywood which uses 3D animations now a days.
Artists or animator use 2D animation through computer softwares to create locations, characters, effects and more.
In the early era of animation, it was done by taking photographs of drawings on paper and then placing them on transparent acetate sheets called cels.
Tumblr media
This process was deserted after the birth of computer systems, with it came the whole process of computer animations. Through computer animations artists were able to create digital animations and were able to control the image in any way they pleased. As compared to animating by hand, computers were more effective and saved up time.
Even though for a 2D animatior basic drawing skills are needed, but almost 70-80% work is done on computer systems and software.
The animation softwares have a huge variety of features which aid the artists to control the image, helping it to look in any way the animator wishes. It may be fine tuned with the help of timing tool or may have a rough look to it as well.
Having a digitized animation process has its benefits as well, compared to the old technique. You can save and load the work, as all computerized documents and re-edit the animations if it didn’t look appealing. Unlike the old technique where you had to re-do the entire process all over again.
If an artist is skilled in 2D animation, he has a vast collection of special effects he can always use in his animations.
As with all advantages 2D animations has its disadvantages. The better the 2D animation program the higher the difficulty level and practice you need. To be a good 2D animator you would need to know how to use various programs and all the tools in the software.
Here is the whole process the Naruto Animation has to go through:
Tumblr media
In the anime most episodes were worked on in advance, but were finished the week before it came out. The director made a story board the week (or weeks sometimes) before and the writer wrote the lines beforehand there was some more prep, but the actual animation was all done during the week.
Key animators hand draw sketch animations that are later drawn over with black lines.
The animation is delivered to the team that digitizes the animation then colors it. The director checks the animation and tells the team what changes needed to be made. The cycle goes on for about a week until they finish.
While the animators are drawing the voice actors and sound designers get to work. The sound designers use every day objects to create sounds that are used in the anime. The voice actors have to meet in the sound design building to deliver their lines. After which everything is edited and synced together.
‘Studio Pierrot’ hires different animators per episode. Some of their famous animator are:
Masayuki Kouda
His distinguished style trait is the rounded eyes of the characters.
Tumblr media
Masahiko Murata
He is more attuned with the dark and mysterious story-line, having a visually appealing artwork which brings in the audience. He also plays and incorporates shadows as well.
Tumblr media
Gorou Sessha
His strength is with the action packed fighting scenes, which need high speed animation.
Tumblr media
Here is a little sneak peak at Studio Pierrot, with ‘Dave Whitenberg’ who dubs the  English version voice of Kakashi.
