Hi how are you? Hopefully great :) I have a few questions for you: 1) Have you watched Phantom the Vegas Spectacular? 2) what are your thoughts on it? 3) I know it was shortened & they used a cage instead of a lasso, but what were the other main changes in it? 4) while POTO videos abound, there seems to be VERY few videos of the Spectacular, why do you think that is, maybe lack of interest or theater size? My friend Greg Mills got us tickets to see him do the show & we enjoyed him in it :)
Hello! I'm doing... okay, as well as can be expected. I'll answer your questions in order:
1) I have, though only on bootleg.
2) For the most part, I liked it. It's basically the original show, only BIGGER. More bombastic. For someone who knows the original so well, some of the cuts can occasionally throw me off, but most are seamless; the only one I really don't like is 'Point of No Return', which is a fairly important scene. Also not a big fan of the cage. But otherwise I think it an excellent show with some cool unique features.
3) If you want a nice list of differences, Operafantomet has made a good masterpost here. For even more visuals, here's a gifset I made a while ago but only just released in response to your question. Also keep in mind that it was a shortened version, from a 2 hour, two-act musical to a 90-minute, one-act version, so numerous cuts were made to lyrics, songs, and scenes, which I won't get into here but can be for another post.
4) The Vegas version has three released videos (plus a fourth unreleased one by the same master), which considering the era and its run (2006-2012), doesn't seem too bad? I tend to think it's because the latter half of the Vegas production ran during a period in which there weren't many Phantom filmers in the US? There's a noticeable gap in US Phantom videos starting from 2008/2010 to around 2012/2014, possibly because filmers were taking a break or hadn't entered trading yet. So if it was a lack of interest, it was something that extended to Phantom in general.
And incidentally, in the gifset I posted, Greg Mills is Raoul! But don't tell him multiple videos exist of him... I hope that helps!

I wanted to say thank you for the updates, I always look forward to them. I also wanted to let you know part 5 of act 1 of the last ship says there is an encoding error & won't play. Take care and have a great day :)
Aaaahhhh it's no problem. I'm sorry it's been a while since I uploaded some new stuff :)
Oh my gosh that really sucks! Why has it not uploaded properly? DailyMotion has been doing my head in all day! Thanks for telling me, I'll fix it soon :)

Hi how are you? Hopefully wonderful. I was trying to find your trading site link, but cant find(its probably right in front of me and Im being dumb). On a side note, I wanted to thank you, one of you gif files has Michael Shawn Lewis. I didn't realize that he did Phantom. That makes 2 people that I used to sing with end up in Phantom, Michael & Greg Mills LOL who knew? :) Anyway, thank you for the info. Take care and have a wonderful day :)
Hi there. My trading site is under my ‘About Me’ page. (I have links along the left side of my page, and one of them says ‘About Me’. Trading site is there.) And yep, Michael Shawn Lewis was in Phantom. He played Raoul quite a lot - I think he’s been in the Belgium production, the Stuttgart production, and in the national tour and Broadway. Cool that you got to sing with him and Greg Mills! Both, from what I’ve seen, were excellent Raouls.
