Netayem and Lo’ak had only a year year difference in age between the both of them. However, the two could not be any more different than how Jake was the sun and Neytiri the moon in your life.
While Lo’ak was a thrill seeker enjoying his time with you and flying side by side diving off high cliffs just to soar before you grew close to the grounds, Netayem loved to hunt with you. He enjoyed the thrill of the hunt, the silence that fell as your prey came into both your sights.
When they were younger both boys had no issues in sharing their time with you side by side. But they were getting older, your little ones were growing. They desired time with you and you alone which felt impossible with not only competing with one another but their sister as well. Sylwanin was one and needed attention from you the most. Your attention was split three ways now, but they could barely get one moment with you.
It hurt them. Because though you were not their mother by blood, you were still theirs. They latched on to you in an instant the second you entered their lives. But to see you slowly disappear from it broke both the boys' hearts.
Suddenly they wished they were young again, clinging onto you in the cool nights, hearing your lullabies as you caressed their scalps. Wishing you were there to press a kiss into a scrape or bruise.
You and Neytiri had plenty of talks with both boys when you were pregnant with Sylawinn. That she was younger and needed just a bit more time with each of you. But that didn’t mean you loved them any less. They both held places in your heart that no one else could replace.
To make sure the boys didn’t feel neglected you devoted certain times and days for one on one time with each boy. However, it seemed as though things reached a breaking point, because when your ears picked up the hisses and curses from their tent you immediately stepped in just before it had gotten physical.
“..stubborn headed jack a-!” Netayem hissed and Lo’ak returned the sentiment pupils dilated thin as knives and just as sharp as the words that followed.
“Takes one to know one! Just cause your first born doesn’t mean she gets to see you first!”
“And just cause you're younger doesn’t mean you get to cling to her either!!”
From the way the boys hunched their shoulders and began to lower themselves you were quick to hiss both their names and slide in between both before things got physical. “Enough!” Silence filled the tent as you looked between both boys.
“Sit” your voice was a cool water, drenching the fire that had egan to grow between both boys who did so far from one another with you in the middle creating a curve so you could look at both boys and they faced one another.
“You two are old enough to understand that is not how we handle things in this family.”
“But he!-”
“I’m not finished!” Both boys were silenced immediately, gazes focused to the ground. “I miss you both as much as you miss me. If I could spend the rest of my days with my boys I could. But you two must understand that you are big brothers now. Your little sister needs my attention and I can’t help that.” Their gazes lifted to meet yours, the sternness melted away as the love in your eyes melted the anger in their own.
“It’s not fair” Netayem whispered with watery eyes, “I miss when it was just us.Now you're gone.”
And your heart broke as you opened your arms allowing both boys to press themselves into your boys where you held them tight pressing kisses to the crowns of their heads. “I know baby, my strong Tayem. My sweet Lo’ak. M’ so sorry babies.``
You held them close, let them cry and held the pieces together that they couldn’t.
“I promise I will do better to spend time with each of you. But you both must promise me you will tell me you are feeling this way, ok?”
“Of course sa’nok.”
“Promise sa’nok.”

Hi can I request a young Lo’ak and Neteyam with female reader where they both wake up scared from the thunderstorm in the middle of the night and she wakes up to their whimpers and pulls them to her chest and softly hums to them whilst running her hands through their hair? Thanks 😊

Pandora’s weather is far different from Earth. If you were lucky you’d see sunny days on earth. But a majority of the days you knew and saw murky skies and days where the rain poured for hours bleeding into the next day. Thunder was common  and it typically lulled you to sleep.
Pandora’s storms were far different. When it rained, it poured, and when it thundered it was as though Eywa was beating her mighty fist against the planets core. The rain slowly let up in contrast to how hard it poured earlier that day.
But the thunder woke the boys up and their small whimpers and small hands shaking your body were enough for you to wake up in an instant.
When it rained your family took to sleeping inside the family tent. It was extremely cozy and housed in the parts of the tree that were protected from the storms effects.
However, it did not protect your sons fears from the thunderstorm.
Their tear stained cheeks and whimpers broke your heart. And you softly shushed and cooed as you collected them into your arms. Lo'ak was quick to curl himself into your lap, Netayem curled himself into your side as close as possible.
Neytiri and Jake were gone, leading a hunting party for a great feast for the clan. And so it was up to you to be the boys rock while your mates were gone.
"I know babies, it's so loud isn't it?" you whispered as you rocked both boys attempting to at the very least bring their wails down to whimpers.
"Sa'nok its gonna get us" Lo'ak whimpered as he pressed his face further into the nook of your arms.
"It won't baby I promise. It's only a storm" you hummed cupping his face to swipe at the tears that trickled.
"But why does it sound so close?" Netayem yelped at a loud crack and you hummed looking up.
"My dad used to say the closer the thunder the farther it is" and while they were calmed the anxiousness still could be felt in how tightly they held to you. And so you cleared your throat to look down at both boys.
"Should sa'nok sing for you two?" and the two immediately agreed looking up at you as you cleared your throat.
Your song chord was short. You sing of the new body body Eywa blessed you with. Give thanks to her for two mates and two beautiful sons. And as you sing your hands gently run through the boys hair, massaging their scalps gently. And as you sing, you feel the boys loosen their grip on you.
You feel yourself slowly fall asleep as well, the thundering reduced to nothing but the heavy pitter patter of rain and your boys gentle snores fill the tent.

Lo’ak and Netayem were on edge with all that has transpired in the few months that have passed. From their capture bringing you into a near heart attack, your own close encounter with the devil incarnate that was Quartrich. It was all putting a huge strain on your family. And it did not help that your Sylawinn was barely four and you were expecting again during this time.
The boys vowed to protect you no matter what.
And so as you all took this time among the Metkayina, you spent this time to soak in this moment of peace. Because you felt it, deep in your bones your family was free from the hurricane of pain.
As you sit in your family's hut, fanning the faint fire grilling the freshly caught fish to perfection. You heard the clicks of the Ilu approach and Netayem and Lo’ak enter with Tsireya close on their heels entering your family's maori.
“Boys, Tsireya '' you nodded your head, returning the children's gesture.
“I see you, mate of Toruk Makto.“
“ I see you as well Tsireya and Aonung. I thought I told you both to call me Y/N.” And while his sister flashes you a bashful smile he gives you a boyish grin that makes you chuckle.
“What mischief are you getting into this day?Nothing too bad please, your father and mother had a fit last time” You hummed, placing baskets over the freshly prepared food to be eaten later. Sylawinn now presses herself into your side and you pick her up to sit her in your lap running your hands up and down her back.
“Of course not sa’nu, Tsireya was going to show us the tree of souls, so that we may pay our respects.” Netayem elbows his brother in the ribs before a sly remark can fall out and you hum.
“A wonderful honor to show us. You boys behave, it is an honor and privilege I expect you all to appreciate!” Your sharp eyes cut to the boys who immediately nod returning to their little sister who reached up to her brothers with begging arms. Lo’ak was quick to scoop her into his arms and twirl her high in the air making you chuckle.
“Netyem told us you’ve never connected to the tree before” Tiserya asked with curious eyes that you met.
“It is true. I have yet to. But the last I ever felt connected was during my transition. There are some feelings that arise when I get close to the tree, something strong. Like Eywa is here, and I feel her” Your hand presses to your chest and Kiri watches with intent eyes.
Because she can recall it. She’s seen it. How the water moves with you. How the creatures of the water surround you. She saw it back home as well. A special moment that she will treasure forever.  As she and her siblings played in the forest, she looked for you, and saw you lie in a field of high grass. Your eyes shut, and with each breath the grass moved with you.
“I don’t know perhaps I am in my own head ” you shook your head blowing out the warm fire and covering the prepared foods with smaller baskets.
“Come with us then!” Tsierya’s bold declaration sets off the rest of your children who all look up at you expectantly. And you nearly denied them. But it was time you did. Perhaps it was because you knew if you saw Grace, your own family, you couldn’t come back out to face this reality.
And you could pinpoint this feeling in your bones. So you mounted your ilu and with Sylawinn close to your body, you allowed Tsireya and Aonung to lead you and your family through the waters. You enter a cove and can’t help but let your eyes look up and around at the beautiful floating rocks. It was like seeing the hallelujah mountains all over again.
Aonung agrees to stay back and hold Sylawinn. While she gets better with swimming each day, she struggles to hold her breath longer, unlike her siblings. And so you kiss her forehead and pass her to Aonung and dive below the surface, swimming behind Tsireya.
The tree is beautiful. A large tree of coral and ways with the water and a school of fish weave in and out the tree. Tsireya nods her head to one of the floating pieces and connects her queue to it, and the boys and Kiri follow suit with you as well. You close your eyes as you feel yourself being pulled in.
It's bright and white when you're in the lab. Light shines through the windows of the lab you once worked in. And at one of the benches sits, “Grace.”
And she smiles as she stands up, now meeting your height in her avatar form. “Hey Ginger.”
And when she tries to speak she chokes on her words and you feel the fear bubble in your stomach and now you cant breath. And Lo’ak watch in horror as your body convulses and bubbles rush out of you. Netayem is quick to grab your body and swim as fast as possible to the surface with Lo’ak and Tsireya close behind him.
“What’s happening to her!”
“I don’t know!”
It’s all a blur, as you’re rushed back to the maori. You come in and out and can hear bits and pieces and try your best to calm the children. Sylawinn wails for you and you can feel her hand grip your limp one as you are rushed into the tshaki’s maori.
Ronal will not deny her suspicions of your family and distaste as well when you first arrived. But when she sees you enter her heart drops. Because you are a witch child and seeing how your sons grasp onto you with tears freely falling down their faces.
“Se’mu…semu!” Lo’aks voice is thick as he lifts your head to rest on your knees. His hands are shaky as he pushes your hair out of your face. And in any normal circumstance Ronal would have hissed at the boys to get out.
But instead she steadies herself as she kneels beside you and looks deeply into the chidlren's eyes. “I need you boys to steady her head. Calm yourselves. The Great Mother will guide her.”
She burns her incense, fans them over your body as she chants, clicking her tongue. Silence falls, and then you’re breathing again. And you finally have enough strength to squeeze the boy's hand in your own.
“Lo’ak…Netayem…” you press their hands to your chest which heaves as you reach behind Netyaem’s head pressing your foreheads to both boys. “My brave boys, you did so well. Thank you Great Mother…”

Despite your avatar still being in the incubation period it did not stop you from spending your time with the ones you loved. The process was longer with the limited resources and the old RDA facility being abandoned, but Norm was a genius. Jake had faith in him and sure enough you visited daily to inspect the growth of well…you.
By this time Lo’ak and Netayem, both aged 6 and 7 became accustomed to your presence. The two young boys affectionately called you Sa’nok when they could finally speak and it warmed all of your hearts. However, despite their young age the boys towered over you just like their mother and father.
Jake wouldn’t admit it, but he and Neytiri felt the slight fear watching as you played with the boys. When they’d snap their little fangs at you, and you’d laugh it off Jake wondered what if you hadn't moved your hand fast enough? You would chide at the both of them reminding them who managed to help put an end to the psychopath that was once Quartrich, and they slowly eased off you.
They allowed you to take the boys on playful little explorations during the day not too far which you could agree on. You would watch them play in the forest, but when they would rough house they often wanted you to join. In their defense they fought often with Jake so they did not know any better. Sometimes you’d come back with a teeny scratch or a bruise but it was nothing to scare the boys, they were children still. They didn’t know any better.
But Lo’ak realized you were human when his anger got the best of him. He and Netayem were tugging something back and forth, throwing petty insults at each other. You sighed and stood from the rock going to stand in front of the two boys, “calm down boys now Lo’ak can you let go so you don’t break it? Mama worked hard on it.”
When you went to step forward the object was sent flying and knocked you back onto your butt. The boys instantly ended their bickering once they heard your gasp and ran over to you to apologize. Lo’ak could only watch on with tears in his eyes as you cupped your cheek.
“M’ sorry, sorry! Sa’nok don’t be made please! Accident!” Loa’k whimpered as his brother helped pull you to your feet.
You quickly silenced them and told them you were just surprised is all. You bruhsed away those tear stained blue cheeks and let him hold your hand as you walked back to the Hometree. But that night when You were in the tent with Neytiri, Lo’ak listened in and witnessed the dark bruising on your body.
Neytiri massaged some concoction into the darkened splotches and Lo’ak felt sick to his stomach knowing it was him who caused the pain.
“It is fine Tiri, they are just children.” You hissed between clenched teeth as you rubbed the remainder of the salve over your stomach.
“Yes, but you are still human, my love.”
From that day on Lo’ak made a vow to himself, to you. He would protect you, human or not. He never wanted to see you in pain like that again. He would never be the cause of such a pain ever again.
That night as you all lie together Lo’ak curled his body around you, resting his head on your stomach which rose and fell. Your hands brushed through his dark locks, gently massaging his scalp which in turn lulled him to sleep again.
Lo’ak seemed to cling to you like a newborn babe after that day. It was almost adorable, the way he hissed at his father when he reached a hand down to affectionately rub a hand over your head. What if he crushed you! Jake raised a brow but stepped back.
Both he and Neytiri missed you during those nights where you would fly together. When you'd explore the forest with one another. Who would have thought they would have to compete for your attention against a six year old?
Your darling Netayem was more reserved with his affections like his mother. But when he did seek you out he'd hiss at his brother who was taking up any time he had with you.
"You leech to mama like a baby!" Netayem stomped his foot at his brother.
"No I don't!" Lo'ak snapped leaning nearly close enough to butt head with his oldest brother.
"You do! Mama never gets to spend any time with me any more cause you cling to her!" Netayem hissed and Lo'ak bared his fangs which was more than enough for you to step in between the boys.
"Lo'ak" the boys eyes soften as soon as you step into his sight "I will be fine. "Your brother deserves my time with him. And soon you will have another sibling to share my time with."
And his lip quivered followed by glassy eyes. Your small hand thumbed under those eyes, the eyes of his father. "I just want you safe Sa'nok"
And your heart broke at the crack in his voice and you wrapped your sweet Lo'ak into your arms shushing his whimpers. You looked back at Netayem and he knew to step out and give you both space.
"I know baby. I am human still, but I will be fine. Soon my time will come and you will no longer need to protect me" you whispered into his ear.
"But what if-"
"And if I ever need you, I know a warrior with a mighty heart who will come to my rescue" you cupped his cheeks and pressed your forehead to his.
"'M sorry Sa'nok" he whispered.
"There is no need for apologies, my sweet Lo'ak" you pressed a kiss to his forehead "now, may I please spend some time with Netayem by the water? "
He nodded and you smiled. "Then tonight I'll rebraid your hair and tell you more of my earth stories, hm?" Your smile elicited a small one out of him. So passionate, just like his father.
Outside the tent Jake and Neytiri silently listen in. And when they hear their boy agree to split from you Jake nearly fell to his knees screaming his praises to the Great Mother.
Neytiri rolled her eyes as her mate fell to his knees raising both fists to the sky, "skxwang."

New Daughter of Mine
Tumblr media
Pre!Avatar Way of Water
platonic!jake sully x human!!reader x platonic!neytiri
Sequel: Goldilocks
Tumblr media
It’s easy to take in a stray animal. A human child being taken in by two aliens is an entirely different narrative and challenge within itself. Neytiri works her best to learn with each day. And there were good ones like now. As she sits with her dear Netayem pressed to her chest and she watches as Jake points to himself, palms pressed to his chest as he slowly sounds out, “sem…pul”
And she can’t help the smile across her lips as you speak it back pressing your hands atop his, “sempul!”
“And Neytiri is?...” he raises his brow as you huff, pressing your eyes so tight then opening them wide.
“Sa’nu!”
“Sa’nok” He flicks your forehead gently.
“For you I am sa’nul my y/n.” And her heart throbs at the gap toothed smile you flash her. Her own lips turned up.
You latched onto Neytiri in an instant. And to Jake’s surprise she accepted you immediately. She would bring you on small hunts, teaching you to aim, to track. Crafted a bow with you as she told you the story of the one whose bow she carried.
She braided your hair affectionately in the warmth of the day. Her fingers gently plaited, and moved with a gentleness you never knew. Slowly you found yourself falling asleep, leaning your small body back to rest your head on her stomach.
And she didn’t have the heart to wake you, so she adjusted your head gently and continued threading the beads. They were her own ones from her own childhood. A piece of her, now a part of you.
You shifted in her arms, eyes open half way as a large yawn fell from your lips. By then she was done and you looked into the clear waters with excitement enjoying the sounds of the beautiful beads.
“Mother would braid tight when she did my hair at home. And there was another woman, I don’t think she liked me very much. She would do it sometime and it would hurt.”
And Neytiri cupped beneath your jaw to look into your eyes. “I will always be gentle with you, my y/n.”
And she was. Jake would raise his brow as she watched how Neytiri would speak with you. It took months to tear down that stoney wall, but with you she was a pile of mush in an instant.
But when it rains it pours. And when the bad moments come it is when Neytiri realizes that it only strengthens the now four of you.
It usually happens at night. You would get these night terrors and would scream and cry for your mother and father. It shook her to her core the first night it happened, but somehow you knew Neytiri’s arms and when sh beheld you tight and rocked you gently you would slowly lull back to slumber.
One particular night it was bad and in an attempt to soothe you Neytiri lay her hand atop yours and went to hold you once more. In your haze of a nightmare though you continued to shout “Mama! Mama!!” your shrieks now shake Jake awake who watches as your tiny fists drive into Neytiri your hands collide with hers working to get them off of your body.
“Its ok baby come here, you're fine. You're safe. We’re here” Jake quickly pries your fighting form away from Neytiri and wraps his arms around you.
And so she pressed Netayem to her chest bouncing him gently as she shushed him and Lo’ak who was woken by your screams.
Her heart broke as Jake pressed you to his chest, how you grasped his hand as you whimpered. You were scared of her. It was then she realized it. No matter how hard she would try, how hard she could try and heal your wounds, she would never be your birth mother. But for now, she would endure it. Because you were her ite.
She would not be your birth mother, she would do better. She could feel this task in her bones, from Eywa herself as she knelt before the tree of souls with tears in her eyes. “Free my daughter from these monsters in the night my Eywa. Great Mother help me, guide me. Teach me to do what is needed for my daughter.” Her eyes screwed shut as she clasped her hands tightly.
Tonight she waited. Neytiri was a huntress at heart, the best among the tribe. And she could hear it from the stutter in your breath. And so she sat up, holding you in her lap and rocking you as your breaths picked up. And she sang. She sang your song chord. Whispered it over and over as she brushed your hair out of your face.
And this time you didn’t fight her. Instead your head slowly fell into her palm, she could feel the gentle puffs of your breath slowing down. You lean into her touch and she smiles as she sings into the night.
That next day she would add a bead to her song chord. It was a beautiful stone you’d found playing in the waters with Netayem. She smoothed it down once rough and covered in stone turned smooth with deep grooves like a pearl, and now sings a new verse. “My Y/N, my light. Bright star in my life. To you, Great Mother, I thank you each night. Daughter of mine, new joy in my life. My Y/N, My Y/N.”

platonic!Lo’ak talking to the reader about everything, like all of his adventures to his feelings towards a member of the clan. Bonus, Lo’ak and the reader snuggling in bed and telling each other about their day
Tumblr media

˚。⋆ avatar!reader x platonic!lo'ak
in which lo'ak is never too hold to spend time with his mother.
author note: I can't explain it, but when I think of reader and lo'aks relationship, it makes me think of disney classic mothers with their children.
The setting sun beams down on you, a light chill from the waters and evening air sets in. Cooling your body from the days woek. You rose early with t'shahik. Learning the way of healing, of listening to the Great Mother.
When you were free from your studies, you returned to your mauri. Where your children awaited. Your daughter and Tuk enjoyed the waters while the boys went out further. Hunting, and bonidng with some of the villages boys.
It was you alone, waiting for Jake and Neytiri to return from a hunting party. Their second since your refugee time began. So you began the process of skinning the fish and boning it with careful fingers.
"Mother!" you could not fight the upturn of your lips as you cast a quick look over your shoulder. He quickly drops his hunting gear to bring his hand to hos forehead, "I see you."
"Ma Lo'ak! The prodigal hunter returns,"I see you as well."
"Netayem is helping the girls hunt," he crouches to sit beside you. You nod, carefully working the thin bones out the fish as to not snap or leave any behind.
"And did you and your brother catch anything today?"
"Yes! But it was big! It was at least double dads size. And It took three of us to take this thing down!" He spoke animatedly, using his hands to scale this creature. You couldn't fight the grin on your face as he wnt into more detail.
Before, he would spit out his distaste for this watery hela d he once called it. But now these days, since peace as finally been bestowed uppn you all with the death of that monster. There is a fondness and love in hs eyes. He misses the forest less, you can tell.
"Now tell me you were with...ah what is the boys name."
"Aonung! You should have seen him! We had a running bet to see who could dive the farthest. I was clearly the winner but then he goes on to say 'well then lets see who can stay underneath the longest!"
You huff out in lafter, wrapping the fresh food salted and seasoned tightly in leaves. Setting the bundles now one by one, Lo'ak helps you not missing a detail in this contest.
"Mother, you need to rest," Lo'ak grumbles watchng as you stand, pressing your hands to your back and stretching.
"How can I? I need to feed you my greedy little monster" you hiss playfully, setting the basket near the fire.
"You really need to, dads gonna start freaking out when you start showing more," his eyes glance down at your stomach. Your second born, you often forget they are even in there, but Lo'ak has his fathers eyes. "And plus Tsireya tells me you are learning from the healers."
"Lo'ak stubborn son of Toruk Makto listens to his father? I truly have lived long enough to see it all" you wistfully look up into the sky, laughter bubbles up in you at the sour look that descends on your sons face.
"I will rest as soon as I get a fire starting." But Lo'ak beats yo too it. Working with skillful hands a small ember begins to build which you fan till it is bright and warming you both.
You will admit, the cool waters sooth the ache in your feet, and Lo'ak sits close beside you. "Enough about me. Tell me about the hunt. How do you plan to capture the beast the next time your party sets out?"
Lo'ak explains it in great detail. When the chill of the evenings settles, he scoots over to you. Curling into your side, more tales of the day fill the space. But when Jake and Neytiri return with the girls curled in their arms, they find you and Lo'ak nestled together in your hammock.

Yes please! Could you also write something with young Lo’ak and Neteyam where they are protective of their human mum and are always around her and must be the ones to sleep on her at night and they don’t let Jake near her and Jake is pouting a little bit or something like that since he wants cuddles too and maybe scoops them all in his arms? Thanks

Jake is very affectionate. He loved to have his hands on either one of his mates, and he was not one to withhold his affections from his children either. Blowing raspberries into chubby cheeks, pressing a chaste kiss whilst passing by.
Jake’s absolute favorite thing would have to be night time. When the family huddled together to sleep in one another's arms. Despite being human, there would be nights where you would catch one of the boys lingering outside of the lab begging you to come and sleep with them.
They didn’t like how it felt without having you there. They couldn’t fight the unease they felt, not knowing if you were safe, where you were. So it was routine for you to leave your avatar's body, wash up and eat and by the time you were dressed for the evening like routine you’d hear the gentle taps of Lo’ak or Netayem outside of the lab and know that it was time for you to get some rest.
Both boys being young in age were close to you in height and so you were used to the weight of both boys lying on either side of you with their heads resting on your stomach.  Unknown to any of you Jake watched on with the slightest of pouts on his face watching his boys once again beat their father in having your undivided attention and affection.
Why was he left out? He deserved to be a part of your cuddle pile just as much as his sons. But just how was he going to be able to insert himself into your little equation?
If he tried moving either of his sons completely that would only set them off and then he’d have to be the one to lull them back to sleep which was enough within itself. He knew this from trial and error in the past.
He couldn't remove you either, once again the boys would be set off.
So ever so quietly and carefully he crawled over and with slow gentle arms and picked all three of you up. You all weighed less to nothing so it wasn't hard, and he took your spot in the middle. You shifted a bit on his chest lying with your face now pressed against him and the boys curled into his sides with their arms slung over your back.
He waited till all of your breaths slowed down and your movements stilled. And with he couldn’t help but smile as his eyes closed, enjoying the feel of his mate and sons in his arms.

Pre Avatar Way of Water
platonic!Kiri x Navi!Black!Reader
Tumblr media
When Kiri was born a certain warmth filled your life in a way you had not expected. At first you couldn’t wrap your head around how the one who loved you and practically raised you birthed a daughter. And her daughter was like her in so many ways. When you first held Kiri tears cascaded down your cheeks at the gentle baby.
How ironic was it, that just as Grace protected you, you sat here protecting her daughter. She clung to you in a way none of your mates expected.
When Kiri was born you all agreed that she needed and deserved the same love Lo'ak and Netayem received. And you all planned for some time in the future to explain her mother. She learned early, and accepted easily. Perhaps it was the innocence of a chid Neytiri mused.
But you felt something different within Kiri. How she connected with Pandora. It was the same connection ad love her mother had once. How Grace's eyes would light up in the forests and with the children.
Kiri lied on your lap, her head on your leg as you softly sang to yourself, threading and mending the beads together to the necklace for your own little one.
“Sa’nok” you hummed as her small hands caressed your swollen stomach, “what will the little one be like?”
“Hmmm well, I have the feeling the little one will look like me more than your father. But he thinks the little one will look strongly similar to him.”
“I wish I looked like you Sa’nok.”
“You like your mother my Kiri, she was a beautiful woman with a beautiful spirit. You grow more and more into her each and every day.”
“You knew her Sa’nok?”
You smiled down at those wide eyes as you smoothed the hair from her eyes “oh yes I did. She was a fierce warrior. She fought for this tribe, for the entire forest. I remember when I first met her, do you know what she called me?”
You leaned in and whispered, “Dr.Ginger” and Kiri let out a fit of giggles as she repeated the word past girlish little giggles, “what is ginger Sa’nok?”
“Well when I first came here I was human. And I have this bright..orange hair! But humans call it ginger. So when your mother first saw me she scrunched her nose up and said “where are you heading ginger?””
You felt like a mouse under the gaze of the scientist. Out of habit you pushed your glasses up the bridge of your nose and pushed behind one of your bright coils.
“No ma’am I was sent here to assist in the Avatar program.”
Smoke billowed from the corner of her lip as she carelessly blew the smoke to the side.“And what are your qualifications, ginger?”
Your nose scrunched up as the fire in your ears pooled to your cheeks, but not out of embarrassment. Out of anger, and so you spat out, “for your information Dr.Augusutine you may refer to me as Dr.Ginger. I received a PHD in alien studies with my thesis on the na’vi peoples culture. In fact I wrote and assisted in the publication of multiple papers and mastered the language during my program. So excuse my language Dr.Augustine but I damn sure have just as many qualifications as you.”
The woman's face remained neutral the entire time and you just knew you’d be back to earth on the next ship to arrive. All those years, your sweet and tears. Your sister would be disappointed to hear it, you just know it.
But the woman's lips quirked in a wry smile as she cocked her head, “how many hours have you logged Dr.Ginger?”
And you cleared your throat “around 400.”
Her hand smacked you on the shoulder which she used to push you further into the lab, “Welcome to the team.”
Unbeknownst to you as you recounted the story, the little girl fell asleep in your arms. Her head resting atop your stomach as you smiled, continuing to brush your fingers through her hair. A reminiscent smile on your face as you watched her features.
The true resemblance of her mother. And as you gazed down upon her, you allowed your own eyes to close. Unknown to you two stray woodsprites floated down to blanket the both of you carried by the gentle breeze of that warm morning.. One upon your swollen belly another on Kiri’s cheek.
