I LOVE COTC SM CREEK AU IS SO COOL !!! I imagine the detention track kids are like the witches of the creek or the dnd player kids in the show sort of, in the being older but still going along with things! Barcus is maybe like nonverbal and wears a dog mask around the creek (former plush kids represent), and they get into hijinks when the crew needs someone a little older to help out. Principal Bump is still a school principal, but he also tends to the wildlife where the creek gets close to the school, and let's the kids off with a warning when they pull shenanigans. Hooty is Eda's college aged kid (I'm thinking maybe he ran away from home or something and she was like this weird tall loud kid who has a bird watching obsession and thinks crickets are good is my son now) so he helps her out when her illness gets bad (I imagine it's both mental and physical, so having someone to help when it gets bad would be useful). Anyway this was a ramble I just love Craig of the creek

the double track kiddos are like the dnd nerds that are kinda the Elders but also not cause they also the vaguely weird kids who can't decide between 2 different packs of kids so they just fluctuate between the 2. I wholly agree on Barcus being mute and just wearing a dog mask that seems very like him, though he could also just straight-up be Jerbo's dog that seems weirdly smart. regardless the double track kids kinda just hang out on their own but if that funky girl Luz needs them for somethin they're down. nobody really cares abt them until Em starts flirting with Viney and it all goes to shit

me and a friend we're actually considering Hooty being like an annoying parrot or a potoo w parrot characteristics simply because I can't decide if I want him to be an actual person whos just a really fuckin weird dude or some bird that Eda keeps around and is extremely annoying but very effective in keeping kids out of her house. Owlbert is definitely just a regular owl tho that Eda took in and is now attached to. like to think she has a couple different owls living around her house and trained a few to be messengers (that the kids steal All The Goddamn Time. the birds and the messages)
