It’s now February 2nd 2023, which means that I officially revealed my fan project Pokémon Kaleidoscope exactly two years ago. Here’s a group pic to celebrate the occasion, as well as finally some info on what will happen next in the project and how things are progressing.

The most important thing first:

POKÉMON KALEIDOSCOPE THE WEBCOMIC IS STARTING NEXT YEAR, 2024!

Or at least I hope so! Things are subject to change of course since I still have a lot of prep work to be done, but that’s the goal right now.

I did try to keep it compact. Kinda failed. But I decided to try to do it anyway. It might take a while but I can do it. *Deep breath*

Rough outline was finished last summer. Detailed outline is 54 % done. I’ve completed writing the beginning into about 11 % of the planned length of the story, as well as the last 18 %. (Or completed as much as needed for now, I mostly come up with exact dialogue in the storyboarding stage) Then there are some complete parts in the middle. But overall, I’ve planned what goal every scene has but there are still a lot of scenes that I’m not sure how I should go about.

I also decided to split the comic into two equally sized parts and I’m focusing on writing and making part 1 first. So there’s going to likely be a break between the parts. Kinda like a break between tv seasons.

I’ve also storyboarded about 7 % into the planned length of part 1, and I have some sketched or ready pages that are not all part of the storyboards bringing the total amount of planned or ready content to 13 % into part 1. I’m planning on at least making as many storyboards first as possible even if I finish writing before next year, because those take very little time but once I have them it should be much easier to update the comic regularly.

Okay please do me a favor and look at these screenshots regarding Sebastian, my oc, taken from my private server on Discord where I work on my Splatoon story

Okay good. Now please direct your attention to these resources regarding Rasmus from Omega Strikers

They are WAY too fucking similar. Both scientist characters with blond hair (I don't have drawings of Seb on hand but trust me on this) who present themselves as formal and friendly while having the whole "something more sinister behind the scenes" vibe going on.

Additionally, not only do they have similar speaking mannerisms, but down the the specific label of Seb saying "I am head researcher of sanitization at this kamabo co facility" to Rasmus saying "I am Rasmus, head of research and development, future heir of clairon corp".

On top of this, they're both confirmed to be experimenting on themselves. I don't have screenshots for this one as I don't think I could share Seb's side of that without having to censor heavily, but he does some self-experimentation and testing just for the fun of it. Rasmus admittedly has more reason for this, as explained by his story in-game in Omega Strikers. It's a notable detail, but I don't have screenshots for either of them so you'll just have to take my word for it.

It's driving me insane. They stole my little guy and put him in the fucking game.

Alex has a Flareon that he raised from an eevee <3 he's not really a trainer more so of just someone that is protective of his pokemon. i also imagine him with many cat-like pokemon heh. Fire type trainer in general tho.

Jamie has a ditto... very good at turning into other pokemon. Jamie would be a very flashy battle trainer XD Normal type pokemon trainer

Josephine i honeslty imagine with a party of Unknown.... just for fun heh. she's a scientific researcher, searching to find out as much as she can about the pokemon. Psycic type pokemn trainer

Aurora i'd say a Houndour. she'd def be part of whatever enemy faction is in the pokemon game she features in. Dark and Ghost type trainer

ok. mini rant time because im Pissy HYUUH

so toyhou.se is discussing whether they should ban ocs on their website that are just canon/kin characters and while im not against banning Purely canon ocs, a LOT of the replies are like “yeah we need to start banning pokemon ocs that look too much like normal pokemon!” or “if its just a recolored mlp character, ban it!” or “only allow fan characters that the creator actually tried on!”

and im going to lose! my gourd! because those are all really subjective definitions about HOW GOOD AN OC IS and you’re absolutely going to come down unfairly on ‘kid’ artists and ‘inexperienced’ artists. i GUARUNTEE you this will turn into an issue of art/design quality and that makes me really upset!

i may not personally want to buy a mlp adopt that just looks like a canon character but if you’re going to start banning them altogether you’re going to have to define a threshold of originality where fan characters Dont get banned and thats 100% going to turn into a question of “how good is your art? do i think it’s good enough?” which is a stupid thing to define a website on

like if some kid out there wants a recolored pikachu oc Let Them!!! they aren’t any “worse” than you if you have a pokemon oc you ~worked really hard on~ (which frankly is probably still a recolored pokemon or a pokemn with some accessories because thats what poke-ocs ARE) oh my GOD
