do you have any cute or funny stories about your cat?
I think I told this one on here before, but when we first brought Lulu home she was very nervous, and also she had been on a train in a cat carrier all day. We let her roam around the living room to get used to the space--since she was still a kitten at that stage she was pretty curious.
My wife had a bag of potting soil sitting under her desk that she'd been using to re-pot plants in the windowsill. It was closed, but I guess something about its yielding, crinkly texture confused Lulu, who, in her nervousness, had not pooped in at least 24 hours. We were watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and I smelled something funny, and I looked over and saw that Lulu had taken a huge, runny dump all over the bag of potting soil, then scratched at it to try to bury it (like a cat does), and was now walking across various surfaces leaving tiny poop-tracks. And when I went to pick her up, she bolted.
So I had to chase down this tiny poop-bedecked kitten and wash her paws off while she screamed in protest, and then clean up the god-awful mess she managed to leave under the desk. And the whole time our other cat, Dozy, is just watching this scene unfold with an expression that seemed to say "what the fuck were you people thinking."
(Not that Dozy showed the marks of a great intellect when she was a kitten either, mind--my wife once found her licking a wall for no apparent reason. And she got confused one day and peed in the kibble, mistaking it for the litter box I guess.)
Lulu has (being a kitten when we got her and still pretty young and energetic) always been quite active and rambunctious--to the surprise of my wife's coworker who gave her to us, who said that Lulu was the quiet one of the litter. I think moving to a house with only one other cat has emboldened her, because at home she is very assertive and curious and playful. But when people come over, she always hides; when you take her outside (like when we have to take her to the vet) she becomes very anxious and tries to hide under any available blankets in the cat carrier. She's actually very shy! It's cute.
Neither of our cats are interested in the outdoors even a little bit. When she was still living with my mother-in-law, Dozy once got out into the backyard, realized what she'd done, and just sat by the back door meowing to be let back in. We're trying to get Lulu habituated to the outdoors so we can take her for walks and stuff, which is going very slowly, because her reaction to being outside is in general to climb onto your shoulder, dig her claws in, and meow anxiously. But she loves watching the outdoors. She likes to sit on the windowsill on sunny days and look at the trees and birds and stuff.

Miss California was very good at the vet yesterday. She got upset when they were doing a blood draw and bucked her leggy, so she got a bit bloody, but she accepted her shots and flea treatment with grace. Vet wants to do an analysis of her poop to help figure out why this little girl seems to have a perpetually loose caboose so I get to drop that off today because the alternative is keeping it in my fridge for a while and uh. No thank you.
Houdini had a vet appointment today but it was just a quick follow up for a shot. I'm not sure he liked the cat-in-a-bag more or less than a normal carrier. He screamed his head off, basically the whole time. He did enjoy getting petted, though, and it quieted him down a little bit.
Work is winding down for the year. This time last year I was working up until about 4 PM, but this year people largely wrapped things up yesterday. It's a nice feeling, to be able to relax for a bit. Had kinda forgotten what that was like.
My sister called me this morning and we talked about her husband, his cancer, what a separation would look like, and about how mom drives us crazy. It was honestly one of the nicest conversations we've ever had in all my time on earth.
Yesterday, I had a friend over and we made ube crinkle cookies together and had dinner, me, her, her husband, and Shane. It was so fun and so cozy to just chill out together and bake. I think I want to make this a more regular thing that I invite people over to do.

Shepard baby shower for baby ryder omg! (Honestly I fucking wish Ryder was Shepards kid. That anon who gave u that ask should've cooked for bioware....that would be awesome and add more to the "be the legend my n7 parent was" when we played as said legend! Also shepard deserves to be happy)
Miranda is that cool big income childless aunt with the best most expensive gifts (cant have kids but she really wants em. Poor miri) probably likes to check up on shepard and ryder a lot. Best aunt ever. (Miranda would be a bit awkward at first, holding a child but I think she'd warm up to it quickly. Maybe even tear up a bit if you didn't look.)
Tali is SO worried. Quarians have it bad as babies they cant leave the bubble. Gifts mutiple baby monitor too for all the vitals. Its very important in this stage to check on them! Quarians find the baby stage to be so stressful! She's ready to check baby monitors for you like a fnaf security guard. You sure you don't want her to hook you up with someone from the fleet who can install a bubble in your home?
Kaidan gifts something sweet and thoughtful. Cute n7 onesie for baby ryder, some diapers too. Diapers are expensive. Gotta make sure you have them ready, babies poop a lot. Maybe brings some of his cooking too. Probably researched too to make sure Garrus and Tali can eat some of his dishes, the sweetheart.
Ashley hauls in an entire crib by herself she and her sister used as kids, and now its passed down to you. Feel honoured, skipper. It's practically a Williams heirloom.
Wrex surprisingly has a soft gift. A cute blanket he and Eve/Bakara worked on. Or maybe all by himself. Nights in tuchanka can be tough, so he figured you would appreciate it even if your choice of planet to live on is much easier (and for weaklings, plssss move to tuchanka instead) Its useful and from the heart. He tries to hint you should name the kid Ryder Shepard Urdnot, since shepard is a honorary krogan anyways.
Liara has cute yellow flower baby pj's too with matching little socks and those little hats. She seems a bit melancholy but her smile is very geniune when she gives them.
Garrus gets one of those big baby bags. Or those baby carrier things for your back/front to carry the baby. Knowing him, probably both. Tactical and hey look, it's got pockets/belt ulities for your guns and thermal clips in case you need to shoot whilst carrying baby or the supplies, theres even room for scopes and attachments in here!... why are you raising your eyebrow like that?... did he get too carried away? (Garrus and Kaidan would be the type of dads to carry their kid anywhere in those things) with how the dlc went in quiet party version, Garrus would probably want to install a insane amount of security, making Tali's paranoid monitoring look normal in comparison. You thought Tali was paranoid? He'll show you. Both him and Shepards got a lot of enemies, and Garrus has lost a lot of good people. This baby gonna stay safe. Probably chills down after some reassuring tough. Maybe he'll tone it down a bit more... just a bit. After all, shepard keeps surviving the craziest things, so little Ryder probably will inherit that.
Grunt gets you a krogan shotgun he modified with ryders name engraved. His battlemaster's child will surely be a force to be reckoned with. Baby ryder will be a strong warrior one day, what do you mean babies cant fight right after they learn to walk? Huh!? How long will it be till he can fight ryder? Well...no matter...he got baby picture books too. Grunt himself is quite fond of reading after all. Maybe till Ryder is strong enough, they can have that in common.
Edi brings the most useful gifts she researched, it's all very sweet as she lists all her sources on child rearing and how to prepare for a child. Joker tries to pretend he didn't play a part in it, but he actually insisted on helping Edi research to get Shepard the best gifts and paid for it. Edi defiantly practiced beforehand how to properly hold a baby for days on end with a doll or a pillow.
Javik seems annoyed how lacking everyone's gifts are. In his cycle, babyshowers were much grander. More honorable, as the empire demanded it. He expected better from all the primitives, especially the asari. He muses how even with his expectations so low, this new cycle keeps dissapointing him. If he holds baby Ryder, he reconsiders finding an airlock the moment the moment the baby uses any bodily functions. So ugly. In his cycle...Well... he'd never actually held a baby before, he was a soldier. Not some caretaker or doctor. When he holds ryder he looks displeased. Its chubby and pink like a unboiled hanar, pathetic and ... yet he can't really stop looking. Ugly little primitive that keeps trying to put its sticky little fingers against his face and laughing... Well, OK... maybe it's best he does the holding, and not one of the other primitives. Not because he wants to, that's defiantly not it. Expect him to scowl harshly the moment anyone else of the crew wants a go at holding baby Ryder.
I love everything about this
Miranda constantly calls her sister to check if she's performing the cool aunt duities correctly since her sister actually had a family. Asking if giving out ten thousand credits as a baby shower gift is too little and if she needs to triple the amount.
Oh my god, Tali playing fnaf with the baby security cameras I can't. Shepard gets a call at 3am. because Tali hacked the baby monitors again to check on your child, and she saw that the blanket is almost falling off and you can't have that!! Go and gover your baby right now Shepard it is an emergency or they might get cold!
Kaidan who remembers how hard food came by in jump zero and makes sure to constantly drop by and help you with the baby food. Be it a fruit mush mix or a formula, he is ready to learn everything there is to make sure the little one is eating well. Saves you a lot of headaches too because you can drop your kid off at Kaidan and know they'll be fed and cared for.
Oh also he'll definitely use his biotics to play with the child and lift them up. He's very gentle and careful, it's endearing how much they giggle. They love the way his hair fizzles up because of his biotics, like touching the static screen of an older tv. He is the best when it comes to babysitting duty, the kid almost sees him as another parent even.
The image of Shepard going to open the door after inviting Ashley to their baby shower and Williams here comes hauling a huge ass crib with her bare hands and tells Shepard to step aside and direct here to where the baby room is.
Ashley builds the entire crib while the party is going on. Just rolling up here sleeves and telling you to send Garrus and Zaeed in here to help hold the flashlight for her while she works. Telling you all these stories about each scratch and mark on the crib and how it was used for all of her sisters. Garrus and Zaeed attempt to boobytrap the crib against intruders while she's not looking but she catches them.
Wrex talking about how Shepard should consider bringing baby Ryder for their rite ceremony on Tuchanka. How the thresher maws are waiting. Grunt volunteers so be their kresh and help baby Ryder like Shepard helped him before. Wrex bringing baby krogan Mordin with him to see Ryder and hinting at how they should be friends.
Liara is one of those people who immediately freeze when they're handed the baby to hold. Baby Ryder is giggling and running their fists over her hair and face while Liara is just staring at them, worried she might accidentally drop them and them remembering oh fuck babies response to facial features she needs to smile remember to smile.
It's the most forced nervous smile of her life. She is so out of her element. The Shadowbroker being reduced to a nervous wreck as she tries her best to act natural around Ryder and praying to the goddess inside thay they don't cry.
Then she finds out Kaidan likes to float them around with his biotics and she hands the baby back to you and goes to scold him about how it's not safe and he shouldn't risk it. How humans aren't like asari and we don't know the effects of biotics on them at this early age.
Garrus brings a toy gun that is actually a functional sniper rifle. He tries to convince you it is a good idea to have this on standby in case anyone tries to come at you while you're playing with your baby. He brings those baby books that teach you colours except it's one about sniper rifles that he handmade himself.
Lowkey suggests signing up Ryder for a turian bootcamp as early as they learn to walk. You know, just to teach them the basic self-defense techniques that any normal toddler needs, like how to check for someone's pulse point to know where to stab an air filled needle and fake a heart attack. Eventually, he gets called to build the crib with Ashley and gets busy hiding knives and emergency X Widow 6500 scopes for sniper rifles in between the wood pieces.
Just in case you misplaced your X Widow 6500 sniper rifle ultimate scope. You the one everyone has? And can't do without? Now you have a backup one! Or twelve.
Anderson being the only normal person and taking Ryrder to normal kids attraction in London. Showing them the big ben and taking them to a kid's playground as he sits with the moms and gushes about Ryder and Shepard and how proud he is of them.
One time Hackett becomes the emergency babysitter because Shepard is called in on a mission and everyone else is too far away. So he wears those baby chest straps and carries Ryder with him everywhere. The high admiral of the navy with a giggling friendly baby strapped to his chest.
Joker would be like "watch me be the kid's favourite" then completely gets ignored by baby Ryder when he comes at them all "hey little buddy"
Baby Ryder instead crawling on the ground and going to EDI. Finding the orange visor on her eyes fun to play with. EDI is definitely smug about it until Legion finally arrives and Ryder can't resist wrestling their way to freedom and crawling to Legion instead because kids love nothing more than unprotected shiny wires they could pop their head against.
Of course, Legion is very careful and never lets them, but it is amusing how hard tiny humans try to get themselves killed. Everyone quietly agrees that Ryder is definitely Shepard's kid at that moment.
Thane would run background checks on Ryder's kindergarten teachers and everyone in the area. He is able to snuff any attempt of a crazy Shepard fan to get in contact with Ryder before Shepard or alliance intel is even aware of it. He quietly guards your kid from the shadows and makes sure no harms befalls them.
During the baby shower, he can't help but get flashbacks to the birth of his Koylat. How adorable his own child was when learning to walk and grab stuff. How he missed most of those moments, how Shepard should treasure this time with Ryder.

Some people
This morning I went to a restaurant drive-thru. A huge semi was parked in the approach lane. It's four-way lights were flashing. A long aluminum ramp ran from a side door down to the building's delivery entrance. A man steered a hand cart loaded with cardboard boxes of food down that ramp.
A woman in front of me drove right up to the trailer, like the enormous truck and trailer were in line for the drive-thru. I drove around them and up to the speaker. Another vehicle drove around the woman and the delivery truck. Only then did she realize the truck wasn't there to buy food.
All those clues she missed!
Later I took my dogs to the off-leash park by my house. At the gate a small container has always held plastic bags, in case someone forgets to bring their own. It's usually full of grocery or bread bags donated by others.
For the last two years someone has been tying individual new plastic poop bags to the fence in about five places around the park. These are colorful bags pet supply stores sell in small rolls, the kind that some people put in little carriers attached to leashes. Sometimes I find these bags tied to low tree branches in one part of the park that is far from the chain link fencing. The bag donor also put up signs that remind people to clean up after pets.
Don't miss all those clues that you have to pick up after your dog!
Tumblr media
One way to think of this is that a kind and generous person cares deeply about the dog park. We should all take care of public property. The other way is that someone is being a bit of a nag. There wasn't previously a problem with dog waste all over the park.
This fall the bag thing escalated. Someone else (I assume this because they use different colored bags) has been tying strings of three or four bags every two feet along a section of fence where the small dogs play. They remind me of Steven Tyler's microphone scarves.
These bags, probably unlike the Aerosmith scarves, are of the cheapest quality. They degrade in the wind and sunlight. I know because I tried one once. It fell apart when I separated it from the other bags.
This week someone tied a 13 gallon kitchen trash bag along another fence. It's filled with old grocery and bread bags. The ratio of available bags, new or used, to pooping dogs is probably 50:1.
I think we've reached the point where all the efforts to encourage pet owners to pick up after their dogs is starting to make the park look rather trashy.

A TURNING POINT
AKA Chapter 3 - Mountain Air (originally posted on Fanfic.net in 2021)
OR read on AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/54640615/chapters/138581950
Summary: What really happened after Luke and Penelope gave Phil is his puppy!
NOTE: Thank you to everyone who reads this and especially those who leave comments! This chapter has mixed POVs and is set just after 13x07. It is just lots of lots of connection and lovely fluff...nothing particularly smutty for those who are here for mostly that. Don't worry more will come. Hope you enjoy!
Neither Penelope nor Luke have stopped smiling since they left a very happy but tired Phil and a happy but even sleepier Lou.
After the big reveal at Phil's physical therapy appointment, and once it was established that Lou was going to ride home with Phil in his usual pre-arranged taxi, they had made a quick plan to rendez-vous at Phil's place. Luke and Pen had then spent a more than just a few hours helping Phil set up his house as a doggie paradise. While Luke installed a doggie door to the backyard and made sure there was no way the puppy could escape the small yard by mending the fence in a couple places, Penelope and Phil got to work finding the perfect places for the about a million things that they had brought in from Luke's truck.
There was enough food for Lou's first week (similar to Roxy's diet but modified for Lou's puppiness), organic dog biscuits, food and water bowls, a slightly sparkly but still butch doggie placemat, a crate for home, a travel carrier, a grooming kit, two different pooper scooper contraptions, a rainbow of differently patterned poop bags, several themed leash / collar sets, doggie booties for rain and different ones for winter, a doggie raincoat, a doggie winter coat, three doggie sweaters in progressively bigger sizes, one doggie Christmas stocking, no less than five different doggie beds, and at least one of one of every type of doggie toy available at the local pet store.
Luke and Penny had basically conducted a raid of the establishment earlier that day before picking up Lou as arranged with a local breeder. The two FBI agents had been like kids in a candy store - laughing and joking - eventually each were pushing an overflowing cart. Penelope swears she saw Luke skip a few times... and the result was that Lou may be the most recent winner of "dog with the most things" award. The eyes of the lady at the checkout had been as big as saucers as she rang up the giant bill; which was then paid for by Luke with a laugh and flourish of his charge card.
The last thing they presented to Phil was a gift certificate for puppy obedience lessons and another equivalent to three doggie spa sessions with a local groomer. Penelope had, of course, checked that both businesses would be fully accessible to Phil whether he was in a wheelchair or not. As they left, Luke promised to drop in tomorrow to see how man and puppy were doing - while Penelope programmed her cell number into Phil's phone and demanded to be texted doggie photos DAILY.
Luke places his hand on Penelope's lower back as she boosts herself into the passenger seat of his truck. Not only could he not seem to stop touching her today - a palm to her lower back, his fingers on her elbow as he guided her to the truck as she carried Lou, an arm slung over her shoulder as they stood watching Phil get to know his new buddy - he knew he couldn't remember a better day. He was so glad he had gone against his first instinct to do it all himself - even when his first Google search for a puppy came up snake eyes - and had instead asked the BAU's resident tech genius and all around expert in pet things to help him. Together they had been able to find the perfect puppy for his best friend. Plus, on top of the joy of finally feeling like he had done something good for his best friend, doing it with her made the whole experience extra incredible.
As Luke jumped into his side of the car, he looked over at the beaming blond and felt his heart beat a bit harder. He really didn't want the day to end. So as he is backing out of Phil's driveway he asks...
"Hey, I'm starving - do you want to go grab something to eat before I drop you home?"
"um...I should probably get home...I need to feed Sergio...and um turn in."
"We don't have to work tomorrow - or at least hopefully - let me say thank you for all your help today. If you want we can stop by your place first and feed Sergio... and..." he glanced at the dashboard clock "..in fact, um it's later than I thought it would be...Roxy's due home in less than an hour...how about we feed Sergio - then pick up some food and go back to my place? Pretty please? With sugar on top?" He reaches over and squeezes her knee over her skirt "You can choose what we order...I just really don't want today to end."
"I get to choose what we order? And we stop in to check on Sergio? And I get to see your sweet girl?"
"Scouts honour, Chica."
"Oh alright. You've caught me in a weak moment."
She puts both of her hands over the one he's put on her knee. His insides do a giant somersault.
He can't help but glance at her quickly as he asks:
"Yeah?
She nods and grins.
"Yeah."
He flips his hand on her knee over so he's holding her hand.
"Yeah?!"
She's laughing and nodding now. She intertwines her fingers with his.
"Yeah!"
He squeezes her hand and smiles at her quickly.
"Cool. We'll eat."
She's squeezes back and smiles and nods some more.
"Yeah!"
They both look straight ahead grinning ear to ear.
After a few minutes she turns her head cheekily...
"Alvez?
"Yeah?"
"I'm still never going to stop giving you crap."
They laugh and hold hands all the way to her place.
Sergio is on the top of his new super glam cat tree. It's clear from the fur all over it that it is a well used and loved addition to the apartment. He opens one eye when he hears "Ok we've got 15 minutes to devote to Sergio then we gotta split if we're going to be back in time to meet Roxy's sitter!" from down the hall outside the apartment "So no dillydallying Ms Garcia!" then there's a much more feminine and familiar "I bet I am faster than you! Race you to the door!" then a deep "You're on!" followed by a squealed "Wait! Alrighty Mr. Super Special Agent...1,2,3..." then a low-ish kinda squealy "Hey!" then a high breathy giggly "Go!" and then the sound of running heeled-footsteps and Penelope's screaming laugh in the hall... .
Now Sergio picks up that the deep human voice is also laughing and there are more footsteps - no heels - "Tickling is cheating! Oh no you don't! I'm going to get you Penelope Garcia!" It sounds like she's being chased down the hall but in way that Sergio might describe as kitten-ish since she sounds to be enjoying it.
Next thing Sergio knows, there is a thump against the door and her laughter gets more and more wild and breathless "Stop it! I need to find my key!" more giggling and then "Stop! Stop!" "Ok, Chica but no more cheating in foot races!" then a triumphant "Found it!" and the key can be heard in the lock.
Humans! Sergio stretches but stays on his perch so that he can be ready for whatever mayhem Penelope has brought home. Although it had better include dinner and an ear scratch or he'll have to think up some suitable revenge.
The two humans practically fall into the apartment when the door opens. His Penelope, of course, addresses him right away as is proper and crosses to reach up and scratch his head. Sergio notes that the man is the one who delivered his current throne - so he supposes he's allowed to stay for at least a few moments.
"Hey Sergio! Good day, little man? Scritch then dinner?"
Sergio meows assent, so she gives one last round of ear scritches and then heads to the kitchen. Sergio, for his part, starts to make his way down the tree - pausing to sharpen his claws a bit on one of the posts and then again to let the man stroke him a couple times.
"See how much Sergio loves his tree you got him? I still don't know how I will ever thank you enough, Luke!"
"Penelope - first of all you have given Roxy like a billion things and second of all even of you had never done anything nice for me or Roxy ever before today - which we both know is not the case - I'm pretty sure you've paid your debt today!"
"Today was wonderful. I should be thanking you for letting me a part of it! Who knew giving puppies to good homes would be my jam?"
"Survey says...ding ding ding ding..In number one place for "Penelope's Jams", that was our number one answer, folks!"
"Oh shush."
But their eyes catch and they are both smiling again at each other for a long moment.
Luke is the first to break the moment and asks:
"So...can I do anything to help? Do you need to change or grab anything before we go out again? We've got..." he looks at his watch "exactly 7 minutes until we should be back on the road."
"Um if you could refresh Sergio's water - I'll just run and make sure his box is tidy and maybe I'll just throw on something a bit cozier? We're just going to hang out eat and maybe watch some TV or um something right?"
"That was what I was thinking."
He's got that look that she'd begun to think of as his heart-eyes again...but she doesn't want to think too hard about it. Today has been too special - so she smiles and spins off to make sure Sergio has nice clean litter. She doesn't have much time - so she can't freak out or fret too much about finding the perfect outfit. She wants to be comfy and sure a bit cute...but also she doesn't want it too look too much like she's trying...honestly she has no idea exactly what is happening between the two of them - which would normally freak her out - but for some reason it's not. She quickly settles on a nice lacy copper and teal underwear and bra set...trying not to think about why that pair appeals to her in this moment - then a favourite pair of pink polka dot fleece pants and a lilac t-shirt with a wide neck that shows her bra strap. The front has a line drawing of a winking cat and coppery purple curly letters shouting out "Cats are better than people - but you're alright". She puts on a comfy but cute pair of runners - they will probably take Roxy for a walk - does a lightning quick hair accessory and glasses change - both frames and hair bow are coppery and teal and sort of steampunk inspired but not over the top - and gives herself a quick once over in the mirror - perfect. At the last minute, she bites her lip and then makes a decision. She grabs a little wooden box from the drawer of her bedside table.
She's back out in the living room in 6 minutes and 30 seconds flat.
"Ta da!"
She does a little pirouette, grabs her purse and slips the box in quickly, then chooses a coat, bends over to give a quick but loving goodbye pat to Sergio, and then, as she heads for the door, calls over her shoulder to a staring Luke Alvez with a wink:
"Whatcha waiting for, Newbie? We don't want to be late! To the truck! No dillydallying now, Mr. Alvez."
The evening was pretty much the definition of awesome perfectness. They arrived at Luke's house just moments before Roxy and her sitter, ate an amazing meal ordered from an amazing Thai place she loved - and Luke even ordered all vegetarian without her even needing to remind him that she didn't eat meat. They had all then taken a walk around the neighbourhood and when the three of them got back - man, dog, and woman - sat together and watched a new movie none of them had seen yet. The movie was definitely what Spencer would call a film not a movie - and turned out to be as engaging, thought provoking, and even funny and sweet as the previews had promised. During the movie - ahem film - she had rested her head on his shoulder and put a hand on his thigh. He had put his arm around her shoulders - his fingers drawing circles on her upper shoulder just under where the neckline crosses her arm.
As the credits roll, Luke marvels at how in this moment everything felt very - what could describe it... adult and comfortable seemed to be in the right ballpark. What was it about her that made him feel so particular about words? It had felt like they were a couple today - an old married couple who forgot their cues and got annoyed and forgave small transgressions and touched and smiled and laughed and worked together as a team. He was still very aware of her and how sexy she was - how part of him was having a total body freak out party just because she was in the room ...not to mention he was touching her. He was still very aware of how much he wanted to do things with her - but another part of him felt a different type of joy that left him at peace and whole. There had been hints of this before between them - but nothing compared to what he was feeling now. So what was next? What to do with all of this?
He didn't know but for some reason he also wasn't in a hurry to solve the riddle. He was ok with letting things be. That didn't mean what he was feeling wasn't intense or even a bit scary - but it did mean he was willing to trust this strange new in-between.
Penelope was having similar thoughts. The fact that her mind felt calm and clear in this moment - comfortable rather than anxious was novel and gently addictive. She too was aware of his body and strength and her fierce attraction to him that stemmed from the realm of physical but was coloured with many more layers. Today had been momentous - she had known for awhile that Luke was a truly remarkable - respectable - man, but today she had seen that it went even deeper. Oh, she knew neither of them were perfect, but somehow they made a very good team. They seemed to balance each other and bring out the best qualities they each had to offer. She was in awe of this man for what he brought to the world: the battles he had faced and the heart that he was still willing to open. She knew it was love she was feeling - but she wasn't quite sure yet what type of love. After all didn't she love every single member of her BAU Family and Luke was part of that.
One thing she knew was that there wasn't the panicky showy insecurity that often ran through her with potential romantic partners...the feeling that she usually took as evidence she was interested in someone. That feeling had raced through her when she first met this man - this man she was comfortably and without fear sitting beside - it was those feelings that had caused her to fight or scurry away whenever he was near.
No, that near-panic-easily-confused-as-lust-or-love-or-anger-or-danger was no longer what she felt around this man...but she wasn't sure what it meant - except she knew it was somehow sacred and precious. So what to do? What would adult Penelope do now?
Finally the last of the credits have run and the screen goes to black. They sit there for another few minutes not moving or speaking. Just being with each other and their thoughts. Penelope surprises even herself when she looks up at him - pulling back slightly so she can see his eyes - and speaks quietly and confidently but in a voice that is still true sparkly blue Penelope:
"I did a thing."
To be continued...

"Let’s talk poop bags”
Tumblr media
Hey paw parents,
I discovered this amazing brand of poop bags. When I tell you the feel, and smell control, is absolutely fab. Yeah, that’s the word FAB! Wild one (dog brand) definitely did their thing with this one. Apparently, it's made of corn starch blend. Making for a super eco-friendly, sleek, & thick poop bag. They're doing the damn thing with this one. Honestly, it was love at first sight, when I saw this product at Target. I had to share this with you guys. Also, yes their bags are biodegradable. Which is amazing for our planet. The color with their minimalist logo pop. It’s so pretty. Here’s a video of my 3 furbabies, & I using this poop bag, as we stroll the dog park.
Till next time!✨🐾🐩

Shenanigans at the pride parade
This oneshot I wrote for today is based on a little comic that I drew a year ago. Those of you who remember the comic might be familiar of the events in this story.
Read on ao3 or under the cut.
“Do we have everything with us?” Francesca asked.
“We got everything in my bag!” Violetta assured her. “Except for a change of clothes, cause it wouldn’t fit.”
“Aw, but if we don’t pack extra clothes it might be this specific time that we’re gonna need it.”
“Ok, but… it’s just a 10 minute walk, isn’t it? Worst case scenario, we have to go home and change.”
“True…” Francesca then turned to the kids. “Are you ready to go?”
“Weady, mama!” Carolina exclaimed. “Wook, I wew a wainbow!”
The three year old happily showed her little crooked rainbow she drew with markers on her arm.
“That is very nice, dear.”
“Do we need a stroller?” Violetta asked.
“Hmm… it takes up a lot of space,” Francesca said.
“It does. Wait, I got a better idea!”
She picked up their son Oliver, who recently had turned 1, and put him on her shoulders. Oliver giggled at being so high up.
“I wanna be up too, mami!” Carolina exclaimed.
“I can put you on my shoulders!” Francesca said, picking her up.
“Now we’re just waiting for the four year old,” Violetta said.
“I’m almost five!” Elina shouted, running up to them.
“Yes, you’re a big girl. We’re going now.”
“And I’m saying this now to you, girls,” Francesca said. “There’s gonna be a lot of people there, so I want you to stay close to us, ok?” She looked especially at her oldest daughter.
“Pwomise!” Carolina exclaimed.
“I promise,” Elina said, “But aren’t you gonna say that to Oliver, too?”
“Oliver is just a baby, and I will hold him all the time,” Violetta explained. “He can’t escape even if he wants to!”
“We need to go, chop chop!” Ludmila said, clapping her hands.
“We want our child back, Cami!” Naty called.
Camila came out, smiling. “I have a surprise!”
She moved aside, to show Ludmila and Naty’s daughter Stella toddle up in a rainbow dress and flowers in her hair. Along with Stella was Camila’s kid Kim, who wore rainbow overalls, but also had flowers in their hair.
“I’m dying!” Ludmila exclaimed, almost forming tears. “Naty, get the camera!”
“Mama, what’s a pride parade anyway?” Kim asked.
“It’s a parade where we walk around with rainbows. We’re showing that people, and families can look different and that we have a right to exist!”
“Yes, did you know, a lot of years ago, two moms were not allowed?” Naty asked. “We’re celebrating that we can now, and showing people that it’s okay!”
“I weaw a wainbow!” Stella exclaimed, jumping.
“Yes, you’re so cute, darling.”
Maxi and Andres were nervous. This was the first time they were gonna go out on an event with their twins.
Their twin boys, Tommy and Daniel, were just six months old and their dads had dressed them up for the occasion. They had now put them in baby carriers as they finished their own outfits.
“Is this rainbow tie too much?” Andres asked.
“Of course not! You look so classy!”
“I hope the boys won’t think I’m embarrassing…”
Maxi chuckled. “Andres… if they still poop their pants on the regular without a care, they don’t have the ability to feel embarrassment for you over anything.”
“You’re right. Also, speaking of that, I think I forgot the diaper bag!”
“Andres, we’re home, and I’m holding it. It’s gonna be fine.”
“They’re gonna be the fanciest babies there!”
“Yep!”
“She’s gonna be the fanciest baby there!” Yam exclaimed, holding up Charlie. She had sewn a special suit for her.
“I don’t know if she’s much of a baby now when she’s 2,” Jim said.
“Both she and Lola are babies!”
“I’m not a baby!” Lola yelled. “I’m four!” To prove her point, she held up four fingers.
“By the way, Loli, I need to write on your arm,” Jim said, grabbing a marker.
“Are you gonna write something fun?”
“I’m gonna write our phone number.”
“Why?”
“In case you disappear from us. There’s a big crowd.”
“If you get away from us, please find an adult,” Yam chimed in, “Preferably someone with kids. They can see the number on your arm, and call us.”
“Okay…”
As Violetta and Francesca arrived with their kids, they tried to immediately find their friends.
“Cami said she’d be here somewhere…” Francesca said, checking her phone.
“Mami, I don’t want you holding my hand,” Elina said.
“I have to hold your hand so that you don’t disappear,” Violetta said.
“But I won’t! Mamiiiiiiii!”
“Wait a little bit, Elina. We need to find Camila first.”
“Girls!” someone exclaimed. Francesca and Violetta looked up. Camila was waving from afar.
They went up to her.
“Hi!” Violetta said, “Oh, you look great!”
“And me?” Kim asked, holding their mom’s hand.
“Yes, you look really good too!”
“Does your mom force you to hold her hand, too?” Elina asked Kim.
“I want to hold mama’s hand!” Kim answered with a grin.
“Look at Oliver!” Camila said, “Oh, he’s so cute!” She tickled his chin. “Are you cute? Are you up on your mommy’s shoulders?”
Oliver giggled and cooed at her.
“Hey, if anyone’s kid is the cutest, it’s ours!” Ludmila yelled, announcing her presence by saying that.
Everyone turned to her and Naty. Ludmila was proudly holding up three year old Stella.
“Aww, look at her dress!” Francesca said.
“I made it,” Camila said with a wink.
“I WEW A WAINBOW ON MY AWM!” Carolina screamed, proudly holding up her arm.
“Yes, she drew a rainbow on her arm,” Francesca translated, if anyone couldn’t hear the toddler-speak.
“That’s a nice rainbow!” Naty said, “You’re an artist, Carolina!”
“Hello!” Maxi called. Him and Andres walked up to them, their twins in baby carriers.
“OH MY GOD!” Camila gasped. “Noo! Ok, you two won the baby pride outfits!”
“No, I won!” Kim pouted, stomping their foot on the ground.
“You’re not a baby, dear.”
“They look so peaceful in their baby carriers!” Violetta said.
In the middle of the adults talking, Elina took this as an opportunity to let go of her mother’s hand. She then slowly walked backwards, hoping no one would see her.
“Woah, so many people here!” Lola exclaimed excitedly.
“That’s why you need to be close to us at all times,” Jim reminded her.
“Tell Charlie that!”
Yam, who was carrying Charlie, put her down on the ground. Immediately, Charlie started whimpering and put her hands up, wanting to be held again. Yam picked her up again. “See, I don’t think we need to worry about your sister.”
“I wanna walk around!” Lola pouted.
“We are,” Jim assured her. “Just hold my hand, and we’re gonna go around.”
“I don’t wanna hold your hand!”
“Okay… but stand next to me.”
They walked around for a bit, looking at the other people there. There was a lot of cheering, a lot of rainbows and a lot of fun outfits. Lola was mesmerized by all of the outfits she saw people wear.
“Mama, can you make me that? And that too?”
“Of course, dear.”
Lola jumped up and down in excitement.
“She’s gonna fall asleep on the way home from all the energy she released today,” Jim told Yam discreetly. Yam nodded.
“Hey, is that Luna?” Yam asked, pointing at someone further away.
“I think it is!”
As her moms were busy looking for their friend, Lola saw this as a perfect opportunity to run off.
“Wait, no…” Jim said. “That’s not Luna. But it really did look like her from behind!”
“It really did!”
“Now…” Jim looked around. “Lola?”
Yam turned to her. “Jimena, where’s our child?”
“She was… right here!”
They looked at each other worryingly.
Lola felt like she was as fast as Rainbow Dash - she had been seeing an old show called Friendship is Magic and there was a pegasus there named Rainbow Dash. Maybe if she ran fast enough she’d become her.
But she didn’t feel like a pony. She felt like a lion. A lion running fast.
Suddenly, and without warning, she crashed into someone. Another girl, around her age.
The two looked at each other for a moment. Lola was lying on top of her. They catched their breaths for a moment, before Lola came back to reality.
“I’m a lion!” she roared.
“Oh!” the girl replied. “I’m a cheetah!”
The two stood up and started to make animal sounds at each other.
“I’m gonna get you!” Lola growled, while grinning.
“No, because I’m a cheetah and so I’m really fast!”
“Rawr! We’ll see about that!”
Lola was about to jump on her, when someone grabbed her by her armpits.
“No running away!” Jim scolded her. “I’m gonna carry you for the rest of the day if you keep this up!”
At the same time, the other girl’s mother grabbed her hand.
“I told you to hold my hand!” Violetta muttered.
“But-” the girl said.
“No buts, Elina. You’re coming with me.”
Elina. What a nice name, thought Lola.
Jim carried Lola away, as Violetta dragged away Elina.
But the two girls, like Kovu and Kiara in The Lion King 2, looked at each other as their parents got them further away from each other. Only that, instead of scaredly saying “goodbye”, they just smirked and stuck their tongue out at each other.
Lola hoped she’d meet Elina again.
Elina hoped the same.
Their separate mothers considered putting leashes on them.

17. i can excuse unethical science but I draw the line at skirting lab safety. you cannot be eating rn
Emma, I'm sorry this took so long! Also, this isn't exactly eating in the lab, but it does involve food, and it's more hysterical science, not unethical, but this is where my imagination took me. It's 100% dialogue, something I've wanted to play with for a while, and I very much hope you like it. Love you. 😘
"No."
"What do you mean no?"
"I mean no. You're not coming in with all that."
"Sorry to break the news to you, Parrish, but it's my lab, too. You can't–Oh. Real mature. Block the door."
"You're not coming in, Lynch."
"I can move you."
"Didn't work so well for you last time."
"That was your fault."
"Was it?"
"Parrish."
"You're not–Did your bag just croak?"
"You're half deaf. You're hearing things that aren't there."
"Lynch. Ronan. No. You are not bringing her in here."
"She needs to be fed every two hours. I have to."
"That means you have her food, too. No, Ronan. You're not bringing a raven and a bag of macerated crickets and worms into the lab."
"Only you would call them macerated. Just say mashed like everyone else."
"I'll call them macerated when I'm the one doing the macerating."
"Such a goddamn pedant. What's that face for? Don't make that face. You are."
"You can make fun of me all you want, Lynch. You're not getting in the lab."
"Oh, come on. You need my help, Parrish."
"Yeah, I do. But not enough to let you in with a bird and mashed–God, you're so smug–bugs that will potentially jeopardize testing."
"You need me, though. I know the ICP-MS a hell of a lot better than you do."
"Because you jerry rigged it with a carrier gas of indeterminate origin so you could test your piss after you drank Goldschläger because–I think this is your exact wording–nothing gold can stay."
"My stance is that it was a successful experiment. Nothing gold did stay."
"It's a seventy thousand dollar instrument–"
"Used instrument."
"It's a seventy thousand dollar refurbished instrument that periodically doesn't work because of your successful experiment."
"Yeah, you like to periodically remind me of that. I told you I’d pay for service and IQ/OQ."
"Take her home, Lynch."
"Adam."
"Take her home, Ronan. I'm not risking sample or test contamination with mashed bugs or fecal–”
“Just say poop like everyone else.”
“You’re puerile.”
“You laughed, didn’t you?”
“Doesn’t negate that you’re puerile. Look, I know you want to get in here, but right now you’ll help more by taking her home. We want to get these assholes that dumped mining waste near her nest and gave every other living thing in the area lead poisoning. It’s not going to help if our analysis is brought into question because there was a corvid and her macerated crickets hanging out in the lab.”
“Jesus shit. Fine. But you tell her she can’t come in.”
“Ronan, I’m not–Hi. Hi, Chainsaw. It’s nice to see you, too. Ronan shouldn’t have brought you–”
“Maligning me to the bird. Nice, Parrish.”
“Go to hell. See if I appease you again.”
“You said that last time and then you put your mouth–”
“Take her home, Ronan.”
“Fine. Text–No, email me the results. Graphs and raw data.”
“I will.”
“If the nebulizer fucks around again–”
“I’ll FaceTime you.”
“Okay. Tamquam.”
“Alter idem.”

Tips on Choosing the Perfect Luxury Pet Carriers
You will have to keep your dog or cat in a pet carrier in several instances such as while going grocery shopping or seeing the veterinarian. Even when you are traveling on a flight and don’t want to trouble your co-passengers with your pet, you will have to use a luxury pet carrier airline approved.  Thus, a pet carrier is a vital accessory for every pet owner. A luxury pet carrier facilitates easy traveling for your pet by offering all the necessary features.   This article outlines all of the factors you should consider when selecting the perfect carrier for you and your cherished pet.
Tumblr media
What to Look for in a Pet Carrier?
Covering a wide range of price points and designs, there are many pet carriers available in the market. Here are some of the traits that you should look for while choosing the proper one:
Safety: Look for additional features, such as integrated carabiner clips, which may be used to secure your dog or cat's collar to the carabiner. This is an excellent function, especially if your pet is comparable to Houdini.
Ventilation: Make sure there is enough airflow inside so your pet can breathe properly and feel comfortable. Mesh panels are an excellent feature since they improve air circulation and offer your adorable little pets with a beautiful view of the outside.
Washability: Your pet carrier might get dirty, especially if you use it for lengthy trips. While you're at it, your dogs may have a minor accident. To reduce unwanted odors that might impact others, use a carrier that is easy to clean.
Quality: If you always want the best for yourself or your beloved pet, do not skimp on a pet carrier. You need to pick one with a known name and built of high-quality, long-lasting materials. The primary qualities to look for are reinforced stitching and maximum carrying capacity.
Straps or handles: Some carriers provide both, so select the one that you believe will work best for you. However, straps are more prevalent for sling-type carriers, which are typically used as a bag for dog travel, whereas handles are commonly found on wheeled pet carriers.
Tumblr media
Sleeping options: If you want to take your dogs on extended excursions, a carrier with side doors is ideal. You'll be able to roll the doors up, allowing your dogs to exit the carrier, return inside, and sleep in it anytime they choose.
Accessories/Extra Features: It's excellent to have extra features like poop bag holders, storage compartments, removable wheels, or extensions since these will make your kitty or canine companions travel more pleasant.
Flying with your pet is not as simple as packing an additional suitcase. A flight with animals necessitates considerable planning well before you get to the airport. It may be quite stressful for both your animal and you.
Tumblr media
Purchasing a pet carrier might be difficult, but the advice in this post will undoubtedly help you select the ideal one for your adorable pets. Still, it's a matter of personal taste, since you may want to choose one that complements your style or the activities and vacations you often take with your dogs and cats. When you go through our luxury pet carriers including the luxury pet carrier airline approved, you will undoubtedly discover one that is available for purchase.  However, you should not force your pet to enter a carrier. Let them become acclimated to being within it initially. When they're acclimated to it, you'll be able to travel with them without problem.

The Ultimate Guide to Traveling with Pets: Tips, Tricks, and Essential Advice
Introduction:
Traveling with pets has become increasingly popular as more people consider their furry companions’ integral members of the family. Whether you're planning a road trip, a cross-country move, or a vacation abroad, bringing your pet along can add an extra layer of joy and companionship to your travels. However, it also requires careful planning and consideration to ensure the safety and comfort of your beloved animal friend. In this comprehensive guide, we'll explore everything you need to know about traveling with pets, from preparation and packing to accommodation options and on-the-go care.
Preparation:
Before embarking on your journey with your pet, thorough preparation is key to a smooth and stress-free travel experience. Here's what you need to do:
1. Visit the Vet: Schedule a visit to your veterinarian for a health check-up and to ensure your pet's vaccinations are up-to-date. Obtain a health certificate and any necessary medications prescribed by your vet for the duration of your trip.
2. Microchip and ID Tags: Ensure your pet is microchipped and wears a collar with up-to-date identification tags, including your contact information and destination address. This will help reunite you with your pet in case they get lost during the journey.
3. Crate Training: If traveling by air or long-distance road trip, acclimate your pet to their travel crate or carrier in advance. Allow them to become comfortable with spending time in the crate, gradually increasing the duration of confinement.
4. Research Pet-Friendly Accommodation: Look for hotels, vacation rentals, or campgrounds that welcome pets. Many accommodations have specific pet policies and may require advance reservations or additional fees.
Packing Essentials:
Just like you pack for yourself, it's essential to pack everything your pet needs for a comfortable journey. Here's a checklist of pet travel essentials:
1. Food and Water: Pack enough food and water for the duration of your trip, along with portable bowls for feeding and drinking on the go. Stick to your pet's regular diet to avoid digestive issues.
2. Leash, Harness, and Collar: Ensure your pet wears a sturdy leash, harness, and collar at all times during travel stops and outings. These items are crucial for controlling your pet and preventing them from getting lost or running away.
3. Bedding and Comfort Items: Bring along your pet's favorite bedding, toys, and comfort items to help them feel secure and relaxed in unfamiliar environments.
4. Waste Cleanup Supplies: Carry poop bags, litter, and a scooper for cleaning up after your pet during rest stops or walks.
5. First Aid Kit: Pack a pet-specific first aid kit containing essentials like bandages, antiseptic wipes, tweezers, and any medications prescribed by your vet.
On-the-Go Care:
Traveling with pets requires attentive care and consideration of their needs throughout the journey. Here are some tips for providing on-the-go care:
1. Regular Exercise: Take regular breaks during long car journeys to allow your pet to stretch their legs, go for walks, and relieve themselves. Incorporate playtime and exercise to keep your pet mentally and physically stimulated.
2. Temperature Control: Be mindful of temperature extremes, whether traveling by car or air. Never leave your pet unattended in a parked vehicle, especially in hot weather, as it can quickly lead to heatstroke or dehydration.
3. Comfort and Reassurance: Provide reassurance and comfort to your pet during travel by speaking to them in a soothing tone, offering praise and affection, and maintaining familiar routines as much as possible.
4. Motion Sickness Prevention: If your pet is prone to motion sickness, consult your vet about safe medications or supplements to alleviate nausea and discomfort during travel.
Accommodation Options:
Finding pet-friendly accommodation is essential for a successful trip with your furry friend. Here are some accommodation options to consider:
1. Pet-Friendly Hotels: Many hotels and motels welcome pets, although they may have specific pet policies, restrictions, and additional fees. Research pet-friendly chains or independent accommodations in your destination area.
2. Vacation Rentals: Consider booking a pet-friendly vacation rental through platforms like Airbnb or Vrbo, where you can enjoy the comforts of home with your pet by your side.
3. Campgrounds and RV Parks: Camping and RVing offer excellent opportunities for outdoor adventures with your pet. Look for pet-friendly campgrounds and parks that allow pets and provide amenities like dog parks and walking trails.
4. Pet-Friendly Attractions: Research pet-friendly attractions and activities in your destination area, including parks, beaches, hiking trails, and outdoor cafes where pets are welcome.
