#praise be the God of abraham isaac and jacob father of my Lord and savior Jesus
Thing that drives me insane: people acting like you shouldn't ask God for patience, because He will just give you more opportunities to be patient.
Like I am only asking because I am failing to be patient right this moment, do you honestly think God will abandon his child in their hour of need??? Really? Trully? That's messed up a God who's core principles are love, kindness, justice, and mercy leave you to flounder when you need help?!?!
So what if in the future I have more oportunities to use what I learned and call on His help? I obviously needed it. If anything that is something to rejoice in! God was there to save the day again, I got to ask for help and get it again! He was faithfull today same as yesterday, today, and forever! I see no downside here, and neither should you!!!

10th July >> Mass Readings (USA)
Monday, Fourteenth Week in Ordinary Time
(Liturgical Colour: Green: A (1))
First Reading Genesis 28:10-22a Jacob had a dream: a stairway rested on the ground and God’s messengers were going up and down on it and the Lord was speaking.
Jacob departed from Beer-sheba and proceeded toward Haran. When he came upon a certain shrine, as the sun had already set, he stopped there for the night. Taking one of the stones at the shrine, he put it under his head and lay down to sleep at that spot. Then he had a dream: a stairway rested on the ground, with its top reaching to the heavens; and God’s messengers were going up and down on it. And there was the LORD standing beside him and saying: “I, the LORD, am the God of your forefather Abraham and the God of Isaac; the land on which you are lying I will give to you and your descendants. These shall be as plentiful as the dust of the earth, and through them you shall spread out east and west, north and south. In you and your descendants all the nations of the earth shall find blessing. Know that I am with you; I will protect you wherever you go, and bring you back to this land. I will never leave you until I have done what I promised you.”
When Jacob awoke from his sleep, he exclaimed, “Truly, the LORD is in this spot, although I did not know it!” In solemn wonder he cried out: “How awesome is this shrine! This is nothing else but an abode of God, and that is the gateway to heaven!” Early the next morning Jacob took the stone that he had put under his head, set it up as a memorial stone, and poured oil on top of it. He called the site Bethel, whereas the former name of the town had been Luz.
Jacob then made this vow: “If God remains with me, to protect me on this journey I am making and to give me enough bread to eat and clothing to wear, and I come back safe to my father’s house, the LORD shall be my God. This stone that I have set up as a memorial stone shall be God’s abode.”
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm Psalm 91:1-2, 3-4, 14-15ab
R/ In you, my God, I place my trust.
You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty, Say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
R/ In you, my God, I place my trust.
For he will rescue you from the snare of the fowler, from the destroying pestilence. With his pinions he will cover you, and under his wings you shall take refuge.
R/ In you, my God, I place my trust.
Because he clings to me, I will deliver him; I will set him on high because he acknowledges my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in distress.
R/ In you, my God, I place my trust.
Gospel Acclamation cf. 2 Timothy 1:10
Alleluia, alleluia. Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life to light through the Gospel. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel Matthew 9:18-26 My daughter has just died, but come and she will live.
While Jesus was speaking, an official came forward, knelt down before him, and said, “My daughter has just died. But come, lay your hand on her, and she will live.” Jesus rose and followed him, and so did his disciples. A woman suffering hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him and touched the tassel on his cloak. She said to herself, “If only I can touch his cloak, I shall be cured.” Jesus turned around and saw her, and said, “Courage, daughter! Your faith has saved you.” And from that hour the woman was cured.
When Jesus arrived at the official’s house and saw the flute players and the crowd who were making a commotion, he said, “Go away! The girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they ridiculed him. When the crowd was put out, he came and took her by the hand, and the little girl arose. And news of this spread throughout all that land.

Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him. - Luke 20:37-38 KJV
I’m sure most of us are aware of the people who ask questions that are so outside the norm that there are no answers. This was the case with the Sadducees who asked Jesus Christ whose wife a woman would be in Heaven if she married seven brothers and was widowed by them all. This falls into the same category as how many angels would fit on the head of a pin.
These questions are designed to trip us up. The Sadducees didn't believe in the resurrection, so their question was meant to trip Jesus up. It didn't. His answer, which we have above, reminds us that a belief in the resurrection goes back almost two-thousand years before Jesus Christ was even born. We are approaching the end of the liturgical year so we will see more readings that will encourage us to think about the End Times and the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. One of our strongest beliefs is in an eternity in Heaven with God and the resurrection from the dead at the end of the world.
In our common creed, we say that we believe in the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. As I have said, and probably will again, I don't worry so much about the end of the world as my own end, but I'm sure we all have questions about what that will be like. Actually, I really don't care. What is more important to me is the belief that I will spend eternity with God and those I love. The Sadducees are in for a surprise!
God is so patient with His people. The Sadducees and the Pharisees had quite different ideas about eternity, but Jesus answered their questions even though He must have been frustrated at times. I'm sure we have all frustrated Him at times and I'm so thankful for His patience, love and mercy!
May we make sure that we give our hearts and lives to God and take time daily to seek and praise Him and share His Truth with the world. May the LORD our God and Father in Heaven help us to stay diligent and obedient and help us to guard our hearts in Him and His Word daily. May He help us to remain faithful and full of excitement to do our duty to Him and for His glorious return and our reunion in Heaven as well as all that awaits us there. May we never forget to thank the LORD our God and our Creator and Father in Heaven for all this and everything He does and has done for us! May we never forget who He is, nor forget who we are in Christ and that God is always with us! What a mighty God we serve! What a Savior this is! What a wonderful Lord, God, Savior and King we have in Jesus Christ! What a loving Father we have found in the Almighty God! What a wonderful God we serve! His will be done!
Thanks and glory be to God! Blessed be the name of the LORD! Hallelujah and Amen!

Reading 1
Dt 6:4-13
Moses said to the people: “Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD alone! Therefore, you shall love the LORD, your God, with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength. Take to heart these words which I enjoin on you today. Drill them into your children. Speak of them at home and abroad, whether you are busy or at rest. Bind them at your wrist as a sign and let them be as a pendant on your forehead. Write them on the doorposts of your houses and on your gates.
“When the LORD, your God, brings you into the land which he swore to your fathers: Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, that he would give you, a land with fine, large cities that you did not build, with houses full of goods of all sorts that you did not garner, with cisterns that you did not dig, with vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant; and when, therefore, you eat your fill, take care not to forget the LORD, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery. The LORD, your God, shall you fear; him shall you serve, and by his name shall you swear.”
Responsorial Psalm
PS 18:2-3a, 3bc-4, 47 and 51
R./ I love you, Lord, my strength.
I love you, O LORD, my strength, O LORD, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer. R./ I love you, Lord, my strength.
My God, my rock of refuge, my shield, the horn of my salvation, my stronghold! Praised be the LORD, I exclaim! And I am safe from my enemies. R./ I love you, Lord, my strength.
The LORD live! And blessed be my Rock! Extolled be God my savior! You who gave great victories to your king, and showed kindness to your anointed, to David and his posterity forever. R./ I love you, Lord, my strength.
Gospel
MT 17:14-20
A man came up to Jesus, knelt down before him, and said, "Lord, have pity on my son, who is a lunatic and suffers severely; often he falls into fire, and often into water. I brought him to your disciples, but they could not cure him." Jesus said in reply, "O faithless and perverse generation, how long will I be with you? How long will I endure you?  Bring the boy here to me." Jesus rebuked him and the demon came out of him, and from that hour the boy was cured. Then the disciples approached Jesus in private and said, "Why could we not drive it out?" He said to them, "Because of your little faith. Amen, I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

1 Nephi Chapter 17, "The Atom."
Tumblr media
Nephi is commanded to build a ship—His brethren oppose him—He exhorts them by recounting the history of God’s dealings with Israel—Nephi is filled with the power of God—His brethren are forbidden to touch him, lest they wither as a dried reed. About 592–591 B.C.
Our timeline has shifted one year. Here is the sequence so far:
600= everyone
592= age 30 when you have to leave home
591= אטה, Tet, He, Aleph, "etta"= to slow down, also "the one atom" the "primary particle."
1 And it came to pass that we did again take our journey in the wilderness; and we did travel nearly eastward from that time forth. And we did travel and awade through much affliction in the wilderness; and our bwomen did bear children in the wilderness.
East = into awareness.
Women giving birth = habits and traditions
2 And so great were the ablessings of the Lord upon us, that while we did live upon braw cmeat in the wilderness, our women did give plenty of suck for their children, and were strong, yea, even like unto the men; and they began to bear their journeyings without murmurings.
The fire in the mind was turned up in chapter 16, now the fools are eating raw meat which is not recommended:
The reason for this prohibition is called Gezeirah Shema Yechate, which means “a decree perhaps you may come to stoke the fire” and the prohibition itself is called Shehiya.
3 And thus we see that the commandments of God must be fulfilled. And if it so be that the children of men keep the commandments of God he doth nourish them, and astrengthen them, and provide means whereby they can accomplish the thing which he has commanded them; wherefore, he did bprovide means for us while we did sojourn in the wilderness.
4 And we did sojourn for the space of many years, yea, even eight years in the wilderness.
=7 equals perfect natural order. Eight, on the other hand, is symbolic of an entity that is one step above the natural order, higher than nature and its limitations.
5 And we did come to the land which we called aBountiful, because of its much fruit and also wild honey; and all these things were prepared of the Lord that we might not perish. And we beheld the sea, which we called Irreantum, which, being interpreted, is many waters.
Bountiful is in the Old World, just outside Jerusalem. It is EAST. To go East into the wilderness using the Torah as the guide one finds what one needs=
ir=excitement
rea= aim or purpose
antum= from nemala or "harbor"
6 And it came to pass that we did pitch our tents by the seashore; and notwithstanding we had suffered many aafflictions and much difficulty, yea, even so much that we cannot write them all, we were exceedingly rejoiced when we came to the seashore; and we called the place Bountiful, because of its much fruit.
The simultaneous existence of afflictions and fruits means Bountiful, in the East, was like Egypt...a place with summer and winter, is where discrimination is born.
Always we pray to the God of Israel for the ability to think our way through afflictions to the fruits. For this, the Amidah, "prayer posture" is used:
My L-rd, open my lips, and my mouth shall declare Your praise.
Blessed are You, L-rd our G‑d and G‑d of our fathers, G‑d of Abraham, G‑d of Isaac and G‑d of Jacob, the great, mighty and awesome G‑d, exalted G‑d, who bestows bountiful kindness, who creates all things, who remembers the piety of the Patriarchs, and who, in love, brings a redeemer to their children's children, for the sake of His Name.
Remember us for life, King who desires life; inscribe us in the Book of Life, for Your sake, O living G‑d. O King, (You are) a helper, a savior and a shield. Blessed are You L-rd, Shield of Abraham.
You are mighty forever, my L-rd; You resurrect the dead; You are powerful to save.
He causes the dew to descend. He causes the wind to blow and the rain to fall.
Instructions Given for the Ark
7 And it came to pass that after I, Nephi, had been in the land of Bountiful- land of summer- for the space of many days, the voice of the Lord came unto me, saying: aArise, and get thee into the mountain. And it came to pass that I arose and went up into the mountain, and cried unto the Lord.
8 And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto me, saying: Thou shalt aconstruct a ship, after the bmanner which I shall show thee, that I may carry thy people across these waters.
9 And I said: Lord, whither shall I go that I may find ore to molten, that I may make atools to construct the ship after the manner which thou hast shown unto me?
=Not back into the same old habits:
Comes the Torah and says: Do not turn your consolidated mold into your god. Do not turn your habits, natural patterns of thought, fears or addictions into a deity. Life is about challenge, growth and mystery. Never say, "This is the way I am; this is the way I do things, I cannot change." Never think, "This is the world view I am comfortable with; any other way must be wrong." Rather, you ought to muster the courage to challenge every instinct, temptation and convention; question every dogma, especially dogmas that speak in the name of open mindedness, and are embraced simply because you fall back on that which you have been taught again and again.
Let your life not become enslaved to a particular pattern just because it has been that way for many years or decades. G‑d, the real G‑d, is not defined by any conventions; let your soul, too, not be confined by any external conventions. Experience the freedom of your creator.
10 And it came to pass that the Lord told me whither I should go to find ore, that I might make tools.
11 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, did make a bellows wherewith to ablow the fire, of the skins of beasts (ignorances); and after I had made a bellows, that I might have wherewith to blow the fire, I did smite two stones together that I might make fire.
Refers to the Twin Stones, from Tetaveh:
Also put the Urim "lights from flames" and the Thummim "perfections, integrities" in the breastpiece, so they may be over Aaron’s heart whenever he enters the presence of the Lord. Thus Aaron will always bear the means of making decisions for the Israelites over his heart before the Lord.
12 For the Lord had not hitherto suffered that we should make much fire, as we journeyed in the wilderness; for he said: I will make thy food become sweet, that ye acook it not;
=Cooking food that is prohibited means do not liturgize scripture.
13 And I will also be your alight in the wilderness; and I will prepare the way before you, if it so be that ye shall keep my commandments; wherefore, inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments ye shall be led towards the bpromised land; and ye shall cknow that it is by me that ye are led.
14 Yea, and the Lord said also that: After ye have arrived in the promised land, ye shall aknow that I, the Lord, am bGod; and that I, the Lord, did cdeliver you from destruction; yea, that I did bring you out of the land of Jerusalem.
15 Wherefore, I, Nephi, did strive to keep the acommandments of the Lord, and I did bexhort my brethren to faithfulness and diligence.
The Ship is Built
16 And it came to pass that I did amake tools of the ore which I did molten out of the rock.
17 And when my brethren saw that I was about to abuild a ship, they began to bmurmur against me, saying: Our brother is a fool, for he thinketh that he can build a ship; yea, and he also thinketh that he can cross these great waters.
18 And thus my brethren did acomplain against me, and were desirous that they might not labor, for they did not bbelieve that I could build a ship; neither would they believe that I was instructed of the Lord.
19 And now it came to pass that I, Nephi, was exceedingly sorrowful because of the hardness of their hearts; and now when they saw that I began to be sorrowful they were glad in their hearts, insomuch that they did arejoice over me, saying: We knew that ye could not construct a ship, for we knew that ye were lacking in judgment; wherefore, thou canst not accomplish so great a work.
20 And thou art like unto our father, led away by the foolish aimaginations of his heart; yea, he hath led us out of the land of Jerusalem, and we have wandered in the wilderness for these many years; and our women have toiled, being big with child; and they have borne children in the wilderness and suffered all things, save it were death; and it would have been better that they had died before they came out of Jerusalem than to have suffered these afflictions.
21 Behold, these many years we have suffered in the wilderness, which time we might have enjoyed our possessions and the land of our inheritance; yea, and we might have been happy.
22 And we know that the people who were in the land of Jerusalem were a arighteous people; for they kept the statutes and judgments of the Lord, and all his commandments, according to the law of Moses; wherefore, we know that they are a righteous people; and our father hath judged them, and hath led us away because we would hearken unto his words; yea, and our brother is like unto him. And after this manner of language did my brethren murmur and complain against us.
23 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, spake unto them, saying: Do ye believe that our fathers, who were the children of Israel, would have been led away out of the hands of the aEgyptians if they had not hearkened unto the words of the Lord?
24 Yea, do ye suppose that they would have been led out of bondage, if the Lord had not commanded Moses that he should alead them out of bondage?
25 Now ye know that the children of Israel were in abondage; and ye know that they were laden with btasks, which were grievous to be borne; wherefore, ye know that it must needs be a good thing for them, that they should be cbrought out of bondage.
26 Now ye know that aMoses was commanded of the Lord to do that great work; and ye know that by his bword the waters of the Red Sea were divided hither and thither, and they passed through on dry ground.
27 But ye know that the Egyptians were adrowned in the Red Sea, who were the armies of Pharaoh.
28 And ye also know that they were fed with amanna in the wilderness.
29 Yea, and ye also know that Moses, by his word according to the power of God which was in him, asmote the rock, and there came forth water, that the children of Israel might quench their thirst.
30 And notwithstanding they being led, the Lord their God, their Redeemer, going before them, aleading them by day and giving light unto them by night, and doing all things for them which were bexpedient for man to receive, they hardened their hearts and blinded their minds, and creviled against Moses and against the true and living God.
31 And it came to pass that according to his word he did adestroy them; and according to his word he did blead them; and according to his word he did do all things for them; and there was not any thing done save it were by his word.
32 And after they had crossed the river Jordan he did make them mighty unto the adriving out of the children of the land, yea, unto the scattering them to destruction.
33 And now, do ye suppose that the children of this land, who were in the land of promise, who were driven out by our fathers, do ye suppose that they were righteous? Behold, I say unto you, Nay.
34 Do ye suppose that our fathers would have been more choice than they if they had been righteous? I say unto you, Nay.
=American Christians and the Jews, led out of Egypt across the Red Sea by the Pillar of Fire are not the same. They never will be. To be a member of this race and religion is to inherit responsibility for civilization itself, which was instituted at the beginning of time.
Just as an expatriate cannot compete with the King for a title to his land, neither can non-Jews compete for the duties of safeguarding the Torah and its role in civilized life; only benefit from it.
This is so the Instructions and the Voice of their Orator remain pristine and free of corruption as has happened:
35 Behold, the Lord esteemeth all aflesh in one; he that is brighteous is cfavored of God. But behold, this dpeople had rejected every word of God, and they were ripe in iniquity; and the fulness of the wrath of God was upon them; and the Lord did curse the land against them, and bless it unto our fathers; yea, he did curse it against them unto their destruction, and he did bless it unto our fathers unto their obtaining power over it.
36 Behold, the Lord hath created the aearth that it should be binhabited; and he hath created his children that they should possess it.
37 And he araiseth up a righteous nation, and destroyeth the nations of the wicked.
38 And he leadeth away the righteous into precious alands, and the wicked he bdestroyeth, and curseth the land unto them for their sakes.
39 He ruleth high in the heavens, for it is his throne, and this earth is his afootstool.
40 And he loveth those who will have him to be their God. Behold, he loved our afathers, and he bcovenanted with them, yea, even Abraham, cIsaac, and dJacob; and he remembered the covenants which he had made; wherefore, he did bring them out of the land of eEgypt.
41 And he did straiten them in the wilderness with his rod; for they ahardened their hearts, even as ye have; and the Lord straitened them because of their iniquity. He sent fiery flying bserpents among them; and after they were bitten he prepared a way that they might be chealed; and the labor which they had to perform was to look; and because of the dsimpleness of the way, or the easiness of it, there were many who perished.
42 And they did harden their hearts from time to time, and they did arevile against bMoses, and also against God; nevertheless, ye know that they were led forth by his matchless power into the land of promise.
43 And now, after all these things, the time has come that they have become wicked, yea, nearly unto ripeness; and I know not but they are at this day about to be adestroyed; for I know that the day must surely come that they must be destroyed, save a few only, who shall be led away into captivity.
44 Wherefore, the Lord acommanded my father that he should depart into the wilderness; and the Jews also sought to take away his life; yea, and bye also have sought to take away his life; wherefore, ye are murderers in your hearts and ye are like unto them.
45 Ye are aswift to do iniquity but slow to remember the Lord your God. Ye have seen an bangel, and he spake unto you; yea, ye have heard his voice from time to time; and he hath spoken unto you in a still small voice, but ye were cpast feeling, that ye could not feel his words; wherefore, he has spoken unto you like unto the voice of thunder, which did cause the earth to shake as if it were to divide asunder.
46 And ye also know that by the apower of his almighty word he can cause the earth that it shall pass away; yea, and ye know that by his word he can cause the rough places to be made smooth, and smooth places shall be broken up. O, then, why is it, that ye can be so hard in your hearts?
47 Behold, my soul is rent with anguish because of you, and my heart is pained; I fear lest ye shall be cast off forever. Behold, I am afull of the Spirit of God, insomuch that my frame has bno strength.
48 And now it came to pass that when I had spoken these words they were angry with me, and were desirous to throw me into the depths of the sea; and as they came forth to lay their hands upon me I spake unto them, saying: In the name of the Almighty God, I command you that ye atouch me not, for I am filled with the bpower of God, even unto the consuming of my flesh; and whoso shall lay his hands upon me shall cwither even as a dried reed; and he shall be as naught before the power of God, for God shall smite him.
49 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto them that they should murmur no more against their father; neither should they withhold their labor from me, for God had commanded me that I should abuild a ship.
50 And I said unto them: aIf God had commanded me to do all things I could do them. If he should command me that I should say unto this water, be thou earth, it should be earth; and if I should say it, it would be done.
51 And now, if the Lord has such great power, and has wrought so many miracles among the children of men, how is it that he cannot ainstruct me, that I should build a ship?
52 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said many things unto my brethren, insomuch that they were aconfounded and could not contend against me; neither durst they lay their hands upon me nor touch me with their fingers, even for the space of many days. Now they durst not do this lest they should wither before me, so powerful was the bSpirit of God; and thus it had wrought upon them.
53 And it came to pass that the Lord said unto me: Stretch forth thine hand again unto thy brethren, and they shall not wither before thee, but I will ashock them, saith the Lord, and this will I do, that they may know that I am the Lord their God.
54 And it came to pass that I stretched forth my hand unto my brethren, and they did not wither before me; but the Lord did shake them, even according to the word which he had spoken.
55 And now, they said: We know of a surety that the Lord is awith thee, for we know that it is the power of the Lord that has shaken us. And they fell down before me, and were about to bworship me, but I would not suffer them, saying: I am thy brother, yea, even thy younger brother; wherefore, worship the Lord thy God, and honor thy father and thy mother, that thy cdays may be long in the land which the Lord thy God shall give thee.
A man who stretches forth his hand knows good from evil. This new Ark is as verse 54 said, a construct of a man who knows his way and God's way also and has the authority to use his might and wisdom to lead and conserve the people.
Blessed are the People Whose God is the Lord, from Psalm 144:
Praise be to the Lord my Rock,     who trains my hands for war,     my fingers for battle. 2 He is my loving God and my fortress,     my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge,     who subdues peoples[a] under me.
3 Lord, what are human beings that you care for them,     mere mortals that you think of them? 4 They are like a breath;     their days are like a fleeting shadow.
5 Part your heavens, Lord, and come down;     touch the mountains, so that they smoke. 6 Send forth lightning and scatter the enemy;     shoot your arrows and rout them. 7 Reach down your hand from on high;     deliver me and rescue me from the mighty waters,     from the hands of foreigners 8 whose mouths are full of lies,     whose right hands are deceitful.
9 I will sing a new song to you, my God;     on the ten-stringed lyre I will make music to you, 10 to the One who gives victory to kings,     who delivers his servant David.
From the deadly sword 11 deliver me;     rescue me from the hands of foreigners whose mouths are full of lies,     whose right hands are deceitful.
12 Then our sons in their youth     will be like well-nurtured plants, and our daughters will be like pillars     carved to adorn a palace. 13 Our barns will be filled     with every kind of provision. Our sheep will increase by thousands,     by tens of thousands in our fields; 14     our oxen will draw heavy loads.[b] There will be no breaching of walls,     no going into captivity,     no cry of distress in our streets. 15 Blessed is the people of whom this is true;     blessed is the people whose God is the Lord.

Daily Reading for March 23rd
Revelation 4:8 And the four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within; and day and night they do not cease to say, "HOLY, HOLY, HOLY is THE LORD GOD, THE ALMIGHTY, WHO WAS AND WHO IS AND WHO IS TO COME."
Psalm 22:3 Yet You are holy, O You who are enthroned upon the praises of Israel.
Exodus 3:5,6 Then He said, "Do not come near here; remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground." • He said also, "I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob." Then Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.
Isaiah 40:25 "To whom then will you liken Me That I would be his equal?" says the Holy One.
Isaiah 43:3,11 "For I am the LORD your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I have given Egypt as your ransom, Cush and Seba in your place. • "I, even I, am the LORD, And there is no savior besides Me.
1 Peter 1:15,16 but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; • because it is written, "YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY."
1 Corinthians 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?
2 Corinthians 6:16 Or what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; just as God said, "I WILL DWELL IN THEM AND WALK AMONG THEM; AND I WILL BE THEIR GOD, AND THEY SHALL BE MY PEOPLE.
Amos 3:3 Do two men walk together unless they have made an appointment?

My Saturday Daily Blessings
December 17, 2022
Be still quiet your heart and mind, the LORD is here, loving you talking to you...........
Saturday of the Third Week in Advent (Roman Rite Calendar) Lectionary 193, Cycle A
First Reading: Genesis 49: 2, 8-10
Jacob called his sons and said to them:    “Assemble and listen, sons of Jacob, listen to Israel, your father.    “You, Judah, shall your brothers praise–your hand on the neck of your enemies; the sons of your father shall bow down to you.    Judah, like a lion’s whelp, you have grown up on prey, my son.    He crouches like a lion recumbent, the king of beasts–who would dare rouse him?    The scepter shall never depart from Judah, or the mace from between his legs,    While tribute is brought to him, and he receives the people’s homage.”
Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 72:1-2,3-4ab,7-8,17
"Justice shall flourish in his time, and fullness of peace for ever."
Verse before the Gospel:
R: Alleluia, Alleluia
"O Wisdom of our God Most High, guiding creation with power and love: come to teach us the path of knowledge!"
R: Alleluia, Alleluia
**Gospel: Matthew 1:1-17
The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Abraham became the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers. Judah became the father of Perez and Zerah, whose mother was Tamar.
Perez became the father of Hezron, Hezron the father of Ram, Ram the father of Amminadab. Amminadab became the father of Nahshon, Nahshon the father of Salmon, Salmon the father of Boaz, whose mother was Rahab. Boaz became the father of Obed, whose mother was Ruth. Obed became the father of Jesse, Jesse the father of David the king. David became the father of Solomon, whose mother had been the wife of Uriah.
Solomon became the father of Rehoboam, Rehoboam the father of Abijah, Abijah the father of Asaph. Asaph became the father of Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat the father of Joram, Joram the father of Uzziah. Uzziah became the father of Jotham, Jotham the father of Ahaz, Ahaz the father of Hezekiah. Hezekiah became the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amos, Amos the father of Josiah. Josiah became the father of Jechoniah and his brothers at the time of the Babylonian exile.
After the Babylonian exile, Jechoniah became the father of Shealtiel, Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel, Zerubbabel the father of Abiud. Abiud became the father of Eliakim, Eliakim the father of Azor, Azor the father of Zadok. Zadok became the father of Achim, Achim the father of Eliud, Eliud the father of Eleazar. Eleazar became the father of Matthan, Matthan the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary. Of her was born Jesus who is called the Christ.
Thus the total number of generations from Abraham to David is fourteen generations; from David to the Babylonian exile, fourteen generations; from the Babylonian exile to the Christ, fourteen generations.
**Meditation:
Do you know who your ancestors were, where they came from, and what they passed on from their generation to the next? Genealogies are very important. They give us our roots and help us to understand our heritage. Matthew's genealogy of Jesus traces his lineage from Abraham, the father of God's chosen people, through the line of David, King of Israel. Jesus the Messiah is the direct descent of Abraham and David, and the rightful heir to David's throne. God in his mercy fulfilled his promises to Abraham and to David that he would send a Savior and a King to rule over the house of Israel and to deliver them from their enemies.
The Lord Jesus is the fulfillment of all God's promises When Jacob blessed his sons he foretold that Judah would receive the promise of royalty which we see fulfilled in David (Genesis 49:10). We can also see in this blessing a foreshadowing of God's fulfillment in raising up his anointed King, Jesus the Messiah. Jesus is the fulfillment of all God's promises. He is the hope not only for the people of the Old Covenant but for all nations as well. He is the Savior of the world who redeems us from slavery to sin and Satan and makes us citizens of the kingdom of God. In him we receive adoption into a royal priesthood and holy nation as sons and daughters of the living God (see 1 Peter 1:9). Do you recognize your spiritual genealogy and do you accept God as your Father and Jesus as the sovereign King and Lord of your life?
Lord Jesus Christ, you are the Messiah and Savior of the world, the hope of Israel and the hope of the nations. Be the ruler of my heart and the king of my home. May there be nothing in my life that is not under your wise rule and care.

I dance and rejoice
I lift up my voice
In songs of praise.
Worshiping
Holy, Holy
Holy is your name.
Jesus Christ is Lord
I do proclaim!
The God of
Abraham, Isaac & Jacob
The great I AM.
Heavenly Father
Jesus Christ son.
Name above
All names.
The one who is
And was
And is to come.
The God that stays
The one who remains.
He continues to
Awe and amaze
Day after day.
Forever and ever
His Majesty reigns.
He's still on the throne
Fully aware.
For to Him
There is no unknown.
To Him I do belong.
Praise Him
Give Him Glory!
For He's not just a song
He's the reason I sing.
New Mercy He brings
Each new day.
Everytime He will
Make a way.
Can't do life without Him
Not one single day.
He's my Savior and friend

Genesis 23:1-24:51, Matthew 8:1-17, Psalms 9:13-20, Proverbs 3:1-6
Today is the 11th day of January. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian and it is always a joy to be here with you to take the next step forward on our journey through the Scriptures this year. An we’re coming to the end of our first full work week of this brand-new year. So, hopefully you're feeling kind of moved into the new year. Hopefully the rhythm of the Daily Audio Bible is a part of that journey and I think we’re getting kind of getting moved into this rhythm of the year that will carry us to the center of our souls because the Bible has a way of doing that and will also influence the way that we conduct our exterior lives this year. So, well done for making it this far. We've been reading from the New International Version this week and we’ll take the next step forward in the book of Genesis, which is the first book of the Bible. Today Genesis chapter 24 verse 52 through 26 verse 16. And by way of reminder, Abraham has sent his servant because Abraham is now in his old age and he’s lost his wife Sarah, he sent his servant to his own family to find a wife for the child of promise named Isaac. And that's what happened and we’re in the middle of that story. And, so, we’ll pick up where we left off in Genesis chapter 24.
Commentary:
Okay. So, in the book of Genesis today, we said goodbye to Abraham and, of course, we've been following the story of Abram who heard from God and followed him into a land that he had never been in and entered into covenant with God. His name was changed to Abraham and he influences the world until today. And so, we just read of his life in the book of Genesis. And now he has died and been buried in the cave of Machpelah where he buried Sarah, but the isn’t the last we will hear of Abraham, we’ll hear of Abraham for the rest of the Bible and he influences the world until today. In fact, we could easily say Abraham is more influential as far as a patriarch as far as an ancient one over the world's religions of today than anybody else and that would be true. So, we should take a moment to send and give honor where honor is due, we're saying goodbye to Abraham, he's laid his head down in death. Now, there were two sons, right, Ishmael and Isaac and we went through some of their family tree. So, Ishmael goes off and has his own…the generations that follow become their own people and we’re kind of tracking with the Isaac story. And that will be the story that we chase the rest of the Bible. So, Isaac has married Rebecca and we read of how Rebecca came to be Isaac's life and they have had twin sons, Jacob and Esau. And it's very easy, especially if is the first trip through the Bible to go, “these are very fascinating stories and interesting things and, yes, I can see that there's a lot to think about but I don't know how all the stories connected”. It's all connected, which is why we kind of take time to pause and go, “let's remember how we got here”, because all of these stories and all of these generations are going somewhere and we’ll be following that story throughout the Bible.
We get into the book of Matthew and we’re continuing to kind of observe and get to know Jesus and His personality and His ministry style and places that He went and things that He did. And certainly, there were miraculous things in today's reading, but maybe more important is the fact that Jesus began to reveal that if you want to follow him it's gonna cost you everything. And as we continue forward that will become more and more apparent to us not only as like a concept but also in practical ways. We’ll learn the faith that we have placed in Christ and this journey of faith that we are walking on will be the continual journey of ridding ourselves of all entanglements that would hold us back from union with God. And isn't that ultimately the pursuit of our faith in Christ? Is it not to be transformed and become Christ like and operate in this world on this planet where mankind is no longer separated by a chasm of sin between God and man but that is been bridged and we are reunited with God, as was always intended for mankind? But we will find that the things that have attached themselves to us, the things that we bow down and worship to that aren't God, I mean every single one of those things is going to be confronted and at every turn we will have the opportunity to make a choice and that choice will get to matter and if we will follow Jesus then we’ll find that we have to be willing to release and let go of plenty of things, but we will find that these are the very things that would make it impossible for us to become who we were created to be. And, so, we’ll be continuing to take that journey throughout the whole year but we’re still kind of here in the beginning and just reading these stories and maybe this is the first time that you’ve systematically gone through the Gospels and just really, really paid attention to the stories. Like, yeah, we have all the Sunday school stories and we know all of the different things, but maybe this is the first time just front to back going through. And, so, it's important to just get to know Jesus in the stories that are found in the Gospels and then just simply ask ourselves, “does my life resemble in any way the life that Jesus lived”? And in some areas I we’ll be able to say, “yes, I think so, I think in this area I continue to grow forward and become more like my Savior” while in other areas we would have to say, “no man, there’s a lot of work to do here.” Once that is exposed though, a lot of times we’ll just cover it back over, don't have time, can’t maintain all these responsibilities, just trying to get my spiritual fix and stay in touch with my heart. We’re gonna have to find out that some of the other things that are in our lives may have to go so that we can pay closer attention to the things that are going to absolutely deeply matter and can transform the way we live our lives.
It’s just like what we read in Proverbs today, “do not be wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord and shun evil.” So, that's an instruction, and that is a trajectory or a direction to head in and we should, but the Proverbs goes on to tell us why. “This, if you do this, if you do not be wise in your own eyes and fear the Lord and shun evil, then it will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.” So we’re seeing in Proverbs that if we pay attention to what's going on within us it is absolutely going to affect the health of what is happening exterior. So, plenty to think about today as there is every day.
Prayer:
And father, we invite You into all of it. We can think about it all we want but without Your Holy Spirit's guidance we can't plant these words in our hearts, we can't cultivate and water them so that they become the fruit of the Spirit. We can just become fertile soil. And, so, we do and ask Your Holy Spirit to come, plant the word of God in our lives and as we continue forward may we see new fruit of the Spirit sprouting up, a new way of thinking, a new way of being in the world, a transformed way where we are daily being sanctified, daily becoming set apart and made holy. These are things that only You can do but we come with a willing heart and surrender and ask You to do this work inside of us as we continue to sail deeper into the year and deeper into our adventure of life with You. Come Holy Spirit we pray. In Jesus’ name we ask. Amen.
Announcements:
dailyaudiobible.com is home base, its the website, its where you find out what's going on around here. So, be sure to stay tuned and stay connected.
The Prayer Wall lives dailyaudiobible.com. If you haven't had a chance to visit the Prayer Wall, please do. There's always someone in need of prayer and there's always people praying. And, so, this is a great way to reach out in prayer whether you need it or whether you want to offer it at the Prayer Wall. Of course, the Prayer Wall is also available in the Daily Audio Bible app. Just press the little navigation, sort of like the drawer in the upper left-hand corner and that will open up a drawer where you can get to the prayer wall as well as other things. So, stay connected, that's one of the beautiful distinctives of the Daily Audio Bible community, is that we are willing to love each other, accept each other where we are on the journey, and pray for each other and kind of stay in each other's stories, rooting each other along, just realizing I'm not alone…I mean, I’m not alone. Even some of the things that I think are dark inside of me that I'm confessing, I'm not the only one struggling with these things, I'm not alone. And that makes so much difference. It doesn't give us permission to keep harming ourselves in some way, but it does give us permission to know, “I'm not in this struggle by myself and so I don't have to make it all by myself, my brothers and sisters are here.” And, so, the Prayer Wall is a great resource for that. Be sure to check that out at dailyaudiobible.com or in the Daily Audio Bible app.
If you want to partner with the Daily Audio Bible, you can do that it dailyaudiobible.com. There is a link and it just lives on the homepage. If you’re using the Daily Audio Bible app, you can press the Give button in the upper right-hand corner or, if you prefer, the mailing address is PO Box 1996 Spring Hill Tennessee 37174.
And, as always, if you have a prayer request or comment, 877-942-4253 is the number to dial.
And that's it for today. I'm Brian I love you and I'll be waiting for you here tomorrow.
Community Prayer and Praise:
Hello, I’m just here to pray for all those out there that are feeling the crush of loneliness right now. It’s just…it can be overwhelming. Specifically, I’m thinking of Sharon the Victorious and Rebecca from Michigan and Dustin. Sorry brother I’ve been meaning…I’ve been keeping you in my prayers, but it’s been a while. So, hope you’re still listening. Father, I just pray that you’ll be with his people and put good loving disciples in their lives to just be with them and encourage them. I just pray that the friendship and fellowship that they’ll not be cut off because that’s really what the devil wants, it’s a cowardly act but it’s how he gets us. He likes to isolate us and then when we’re at our weakest, when we’re by ourselves that’s when he likes to strike and attack our faith and attack us on so many levels. So, I just pray Lord that You’ll just stop that and that You’ll just sit, and You’ll help these brothers and sisters with their loneliness and just be with them. And I thank You so much for this community and I pray that this community too will reach out to these men and women who were brave enough to call in. And we thank You, we love you. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. Dash from Indiana. Love you all.
Hey everybody, it’s Margo from Australia. I am calling and just ringing to check in. I…actually…not even sure what my reason for calling is. I just felt like I wanted to connect with you. I do want to say welcome to all the new listeners. I guess I…I just wanted to say hi and let you know that we are in the thick of it…its…its…well…in a good way, we are nine days from leaving Australia to go to Liberia. We have a couple of weeks in the UK for orientation and a little bit of time in Uganda for some training and then we will hit the ground in Liberia. So, I’m pretty emotional. My youngest son just moved out last night, so I had a rather emotional reaction that I didn’t…well…I should and say I didn’t expect it, but I have been so busy I didn’t think about it. But anyway, I’m just rambling, there’s lots going on in my life and I’m so grateful for your prayers, I’m so grateful to have the peace of Jesus in my heart even though I feel a lot of grief about leaving my family and friends and dogs and homes and all that but it’s amazing how I can feel His arms around me, I can feel your prayers. And I just love the Lord so much. I’m so grateful to have him in my life. Anyway, yeah, hope you guys are all really well. I pray every day for you and I’m looking forward to listening to this week’s community prayer line. You know that I will always pray for every single prayer request I hear and even if I don’t comment I’ll certainly pray. Alright, love you all heaps. Bye.
Speaking of maintaining, this is Annette the Maintainer, well, pray that maybe I’ll have a new name. So, anyways, sitting out here in the garage rebuilding an old 47-year-old motorcycle and I was listening to Mydia talk about her kids and the video games and I want to tell you a story about mean old mom Annette. So, back in the early 90s when videogames weren’t, you know, so involved, you know, I kept on asking my kids, I’d say, “hey, come on, let’s go get dressed, let’s go get a room cleaned, let’s go to the zoo, let’s go do this, let’s go to that” and they’d sit there, “no, five more minutes, five more minutes”. So, this kept up and kept up and kept up for about 2 to 3 months and I saw the decline and I understand what she’s saying because the kids just got so withdrawn and consumed, kind of insolent and rotten and it was probably one of those days where, you know, I was kind of on the edge anyway, I took that videogame and I grabbed a hammer from the garage and I smashed it videogame right in front of them. Now, needless to say they ran to their room and got their cloths on rather quickly. But, you know, sometimes maybe you don’t have to go to that extreme but it was one of those things where I was just like, “I’ve had enough”, right? And believe it or not I am the mom in this house, they are not. So, I know when I see things being sin, I’m gonna remove it. So, therefore maybe you only need to remove it for a time just enough to get your point across. But maybe sometimes you have to remove things completely [laughing]. I love you guys. My kids laugh about it now, but I thought it was kind of funny at the time. You know. So, anyways I love you all. Have a great day. Bye.
I just want to thank God because back in November I lost my job and throughout the period of time of me being without a job God has provided for my family of five, was always making sure that I was able to get by week two week while I was without work. Just here within the last couple weeks I have started a new job and the job that I have started it’s actually more…a better paying job than what I did have. So, I just want to thank God for His love and compassion that He makes sure to see all His children through financially for anything…any hardships that they go to. Thank you, love you guys, God bless.

Old Testament:
Isaiah 42–43
Isaiah 42–43 (Listen)
The Lord‘s Chosen Servant
42   Behold my servant, whom I uphold,     my chosen, in whom my soul delights;   I have put my Spirit upon him;     he will bring forth justice to the nations. 2   He will not cry aloud or lift up his voice,     or make it heard in the street; 3   a bruised reed he will not break,     and a faintly burning wick he will not quench;     he will faithfully bring forth justice. 4   He will not grow faint or be discouragedOr bruised‘>1     till he has established justice in the earth;     and the coastlands wait for his law. 5   Thus says God, the LORD,     who created the heavens and stretched them out,     who spread out the earth and what comes from it,   who gives breath to the people on it     and spirit to those who walk in it: 6   “I am the LORD; I have called youThe Hebrew for you is singular; four times in this verse‘>2 in righteousness;     I will take you by the hand and keep you;   I will give you as a covenant for the people,     a light for the nations, 7     to open the eyes that are blind,   to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon,     from the prison those who sit in darkness. 8   I am the LORD; that is my name;     my glory I give to no other,     nor my praise to carved idols. 9   Behold, the former things have come to pass,     and new things I now declare;   before they spring forth     I tell you of them.”
Sing to the Lord a New Song
10   Sing to the LORD a new song,     his praise from the end of the earth,   you who go down to the sea, and all that fills it,     the coastlands and their inhabitants. 11   Let the desert and its cities lift up their voice,     the villages that Kedar inhabits;   let the habitants of Sela sing for joy,     let them shout from the top of the mountains. 12   Let them give glory to the LORD,     and declare his praise in the coastlands. 13   The LORD goes out like a mighty man,     like a man of war he stirs up his zeal;   he cries out, he shouts aloud,     he shows himself mighty against his foes. 14   For a long time I have held my peace;     I have kept still and restrained myself;   now I will cry out like a woman in labor;     I will gasp and pant. 15   I will lay waste mountains and hills,     and dry up all their vegetation;   I will turn the rivers into islands,Or into coastlands‘>3     and dry up the pools. 16   And I will lead the blind     in a way that they do not know,   in paths that they have not known     I will guide them.   I will turn the darkness before them into light,     the rough places into level ground.   These are the things I do,     and I do not forsake them. 17   They are turned back and utterly put to shame,     who trust in carved idols,   who say to metal images,     “You are our gods.”
Israel’s Failure to Hear and See
18   Hear, you deaf,     and look, you blind, that you may see! 19   Who is blind but my servant,     or deaf as my messenger whom I send?   Who is blind as my dedicated one,Or as the one at peace with me‘>4     or blind as the servant of the LORD? 20   He sees many things, but does not observe them;     his ears are open, but he does not hear. 21   The LORD was pleased, for his righteousness’ sake,     to magnify his law and make it glorious. 22   But this is a people plundered and looted;     they are all of them trapped in holes     and hidden in prisons;   they have become plunder with none to rescue,     spoil with none to say, “Restore!” 23   Who among you will give ear to this,     will attend and listen for the time to come? 24   Who gave up Jacob to the looter,     and Israel to the plunderers?   Was it not the LORD, against whom we have sinned,     in whose ways they would not walk,     and whose law they would not obey? 25   So he poured on him the heat of his anger     and the might of battle;   it set him on fire all around, but he did not understand;     it burned him up, but he did not take it to heart.
Israel’s Only Savior
43   But now thus says the LORD,   he who created you, O Jacob,     he who formed you, O Israel:   “Fear not, for I have redeemed you;     I have called you by name, you are mine. 2   When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;     and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;   when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,     and the flame shall not consume you. 3   For I am the LORD your God,     the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.   I give Egypt as your ransom,     Cush and Seba in exchange for you. 4   Because you are precious in my eyes,     and honored, and I love you,   I give men in return for you,     peoples in exchange for your life. 5   Fear not, for I am with you;     I will bring your offspring from the east,     and from the west I will gather you. 6   I will say to the north, Give up,     and to the south, Do not withhold;   bring my sons from afar     and my daughters from the end of the earth, 7   everyone who is called by my name,     whom I created for my glory,     whom I formed and made.” 8   Bring out the people who are blind, yet have eyes,     who are deaf, yet have ears! 9   All the nations gather together,     and the peoples assemble.   Who among them can declare this,     and show us the former things?   Let them bring their witnesses to prove them right,     and let them hear and say, It is true. 10   “You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD,     “and my servant whom I have chosen,   that you may know and believe me     and understand that I am he.   Before me no god was formed,     nor shall there be any after me. 11   I, I am the LORD,     and besides me there is no savior. 12   I declared and saved and proclaimed,     when there was no strange god among you;     and you are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and I am God. 13   Also henceforth I am he;     there is none who can deliver from my hand;     I work, and who can turn it back?” 14   Thus says the LORD,     your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel:   “For your sake I send to Babylon     and bring them all down as fugitives,     even the Chaldeans, in the ships in which they rejoice. 15   I am the LORD, your Holy One,     the Creator of Israel, your King.” 16   Thus says the LORD,     who makes a way in the sea,     a path in the mighty waters, 17   who brings forth chariot and horse,     army and warrior;   they lie down, they cannot rise,     they are extinguished, quenched like a wick: 18   “Remember not the former things,     nor consider the things of old. 19   Behold, I am doing a new thing;     now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?   I will make a way in the wilderness     and rivers in the desert. 20   The wild beasts will honor me,     the jackals and the ostriches,   for I give water in the wilderness,     rivers in the desert,   to give drink to my chosen people, 21     the people whom I formed for myself   that they might declare my praise. 22   “Yet you did not call upon me, O Jacob;     but you have been weary of me, O Israel! 23   You have not brought me your sheep for burnt offerings,     or honored me with your sacrifices.   I have not burdened you with offerings,     or wearied you with frankincense. 24   You have not bought me sweet cane with money,     or satisfied me with the fat of your sacrifices.   But you have burdened me with your sins;     you have wearied me with your iniquities. 25   “I, I am he     who blots out your transgressions for my own sake,     and I will not remember your sins. 26   Put me in remembrance; let us argue together;     set forth your case, that you may be proved right. 27   Your first father sinned,     and your mediators transgressed against me. 28   Therefore I will profane the princes of the sanctuary,     and deliver Jacob to utter destruction     and Israel to reviling.

14 What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what goodOr benefit‘>1 is that? 17 So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
18 But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. 19 You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder! 20 Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works; 23 and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a friend of God. 24 You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. 25 And in the same way was not also Rahab the prostitute justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? 26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.

Let Us Sing Songs of Praise
95   Oh come, let us sing to the LORD;     let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! 2   Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;     let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! 3   For the LORD is a great God,     and a great King above all gods. 4   In his hand are the depths of the earth;     the heights of the mountains are his also. 5   The sea is his, for he made it,     and his hands formed the dry land. 6   Oh come, let us worship and bow down;     let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker! 7   For he is our God,     and we are the people of his pasture,     and the sheep of his hand.   Today, if you hear his voice, 8     do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah,     as on the day at Massah in the wilderness, 9   when your fathers put me to the test     and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work. 10   For forty years I loathed that generation     and said, “They are a people who go astray in their heart,     and they have not known my ways.” 11   Therefore I swore in my wrath,     “They shall not enter my rest.”

“And I am fully certain that He has the ability to protect what I have placed in His care until that day.
Remember the words that you heard from me. Retain them as the model for healthy and sound teaching in the faith and love that are available in Jesus the Anointed. As for the precious thing entrusted to you, protect it with the help of the Holy Spirit who dwells within us.”
Today’s reading of the Scriptures from the New Testament is the 1st chapter of the Letter of 2nd Timothy:
Paul, an emissary of Jesus the Anointed commissioned by God’s will according to the promise of life found only in Jesus the Anointed, to you, my dear child Timothy.
May grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father and our Lord Jesus the Anointed be yours.
Timothy, you are constantly in my prayers. Day and night I remember you before God and give thanks to Him whom I serve with a clean conscience, as did my ancestors. I really want to see you, especially when I remember how you cried the last time we were together. Yes, I know it would make me joyful to see you again. What strikes me most is how natural and sincere your faith is. I am convinced that the same faith that dwelt in your grandmother, Lois, and your mother, Eunice, abides in you as well. This is why I write to remind you to stir up the gift of God that was conveyed to you when I laid my hands upon you. You see, God did not give us a cowardly spirit but a powerful, loving, and disciplined spirit.
So don’t be embarrassed to testify about our Lord or for me, His prisoner. Join us in suffering for the good news by the strength and power of God. God has already saved us and called us to this holy calling—not because of any good works we may have done, but because of His own intention and because eons and eons ago (before time itself existed), He gave us this grace in Jesus the Anointed, the Liberating King. And now, the time has come! That grace was revealed when our Savior, Jesus the Anointed, appeared; and through His resurrection He has wiped out death and brought to light life and immortality by way of this good news. I was appointed a preacher, emissary, and teacher of this message. This is exactly why I am suffering. But I am not ashamed because I know Him and I have put my trust in Him. And I am fully certain that He has the ability to protect what I have placed in His care until that day.
Remember the words that you heard from me. Retain them as the model for healthy and sound teaching in the faith and love that are available in Jesus the Anointed. As for the precious thing entrusted to you, protect it with the help of the Holy Spirit who dwells within us.
You may know by now that all those in Asia have turned their backs on me, including Phygelus and Hermogenes. But Onesiphorus was not ashamed of my chains. So when he arrived in Rome, he searched for me and found me. May the Lord show mercy to his house because he has often stopped by to refresh my weary soul. And may the Lord shower him with divine mercy on the last day. You are well aware of all he did to serve me in Ephesus.
The Letter of 2nd Timothy, Chapter 1 (The Voice)
Today’s paired chapter of the Testaments is the 33rd chapter of the book of Jeremiah that points to the coming King of kings:
For a second time the message of the Eternal came to Jeremiah as he was being held in the court of the guard. The Eternal who made the earth, who formed and fashioned it, the One whose name is the Eternal, has this to say:
Eternal One: Call to Me, and I will answer you. I will tell you of great things, things beyond what you can imagine, things you could never have known. I, the Eternal God of Israel, tell you that all these public buildings and royal palaces have been dismantled in vain. You thought you could strengthen the city walls with the scraps of those buildings, but it is a useless defense against the siege ramps and swords of the Chaldeans. In this fight, the city will be filled with the dead whom I will destroy in My anger and wrath, for I have hidden My face from this city because of their wickedness. Nevertheless, keep watching! I will restore this city and heal the wounds of My people. I will lavish them with peace and stability. I will bring both Judah and Israel back from captivity, and I will rebuild their land to what it was before. I will cleanse them from all the sins they committed against Me and forgive all the wrongs they have done and all the ways they rebelled against Me. Jerusalem will have a sweet-sounding name once again. The good I do for her will bring Me joy, praise, and honor among all nations of the earth, for they will be in awe and tremble at the peace and prosperity I give to this city.
Listen to Me, Jeremiah. You say this place will become a desolate wasteland with no people and no animals, but it will not always be so. The towns of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem may indeed become lifeless, but I, the Eternal One, promise you the silence will be broken. Once again you will hear the sounds of laughter and joy, the sweet words of the bride and bridegroom at a wedding, and voices of those who bring thank offerings to the temple singing,
Give thanks to the Eternal, Commander of heavenly armies,
for He is good. His faithful love endures forever.
All of this will happen because I will restore the riches of this land to what they once were.
I, the Eternal, Commander of heavenly armies, promise: even this desolate place—with no people and no animals—and all of its ruined cities will once again have pastures where shepherds will rest their flocks. In the towns of the hill country, in the villages of the western hills, in the cities of the Negev, in the territory of Benjamin, in the vicinity around Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, once again flocks will be cared for by a faithful shepherd who will count each and every one of his sheep.
Look! The days are coming when I will fulfill the promise I made to the people of Israel and Judah. In those days, when the time is right, I will cause a righteous Branch to sprout from the old stump of David’s lineage; He will do what is right and just in the land. In those days, Judah will be liberated, and Jerusalem will live in safety. And the city will be called by His name, The Eternal Is Our Righteousness. I tell you, the royal dynasty of David will not cease; the throne of Israel still belongs to his family. Remember this, even as other kings rule over you. Remember also that the line of Levitical priests will not cease; for all time they will stand before Me offering burnt offerings, grain offerings, and making sacrifices.
Again, the word of the Eternal came to Jeremiah.
Eternal One: If you can figure out a way to break My covenant with the day and with the night so they do not always arrive on schedule, the very rhythm of life on this earth, only then will My covenant with My servant David be broken and his son not rule from his throne. Only then will My covenant with the Levitical priests who minister before Me be null and void. I will make David’s descendants, along with the Levitical priests who minister before Me, so numerous they will seem like the stars of the skies that cannot be counted and the sands of the seashore that can never be measured.
The word of the Eternal came to Jeremiah again.
Eternal One: Have you noticed what some people are saying? “The Eternal chose these two families, Israel and Judah, but He has now rejected them.” They clearly despise My people—they don’t even consider them a nation any longer! But again, this is what the Eternal promises: “Just as I am not about to stop ruling the universe with fixed laws so that the day and the night become confused, I will likewise keep My promise to the descendants of Jacob and David, My servant; I will not reject them. I will not forget the covenant I made with David that one of his descendants will rule over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I will restore their fortunes and have mercy on them.

A set of posts by John Parsons about the Day of Atonement that is recognized this evening until tomorrow evening:
Most of our deepest anxieties come from the fear of death, whether we are conscious of this or not... Death represents fear of the unknown, fear of being abandoned, fear of being rejected, fear of being separated from others, and so on. I am so glad Yeshua gives us eternal life, which for me is not so much about immortality of the soul as it is being loved and accepted by God... That is what "at-one-ment" means, after all (John 17:22-23). Because God loves and accepts us, we trust Him to be present for us, even in the darkest of hours, on the other side of the veil, where he there “prepares a place for us” (John 14:2). As Yeshua said, "I tell you the solemn truth, the one who hears my message and believes the One who sent me has eternal life (חַיֵּי עוֹלָם) and will not be condemned, but has passed (i.e., μετά + βαίνω, lit., "crossed over" [עָבַר]) from death to life" (John 5:24). God's love “crosses over” from death to life and now forever sustains me.
The Torah (in parashat Acharei Mot) provides details about Yom Kippur, or the "Day of Atonement," a special service that gave ritual expression of God's love by making purification for our sins. As I’ve explained before, the word for love (i.e., ahavah: אהבה) equals the number thirteen (1+5+2+5=13), but when shared it is multiplied: 13 x 2 = 26, which is the same value for the Sacred Name (יהוה), i.e., (10+5+6+5=26). Likewise the Hebrew word for "life" is chayim (חַיִּים), is written in the plural to emphasize that life cannot be lived alone but must be shared. Notice that within the word chayim are embedded two consecutive Yods (יי), representing unity in plurality (Yod-Yod is an abbreviation for YHVH, also indicating the “deep Akedah” of Father and Son). God gave up His life so that we can be in relationship with Him, that is, so that we can be "at-one" with His heart for us. Whatever else it may mean, then, the Hebrew word for “atonement” (i.e., kapparah, “covering,” “protection,” “purification,” “cleansing,” “forgiveness,” and so on) is about accepting God’s heart for you - being unified in his love - and if you miss that, you’ve missed the point of the Torah's teaching.. Thank God we are "sealed" in the book of life by the love of Yeshua! [Hebrew for Christians]

Some people might feel a certain amount of ambivalence about the holiday of Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement) since it focuses on the purification for the sanctuary of the Temple, and this seems to have little to do with Yeshua and His sacrifice for our sins. After all, the Levitical system of worship is described in the New Covenant as “a shadow (σκιά) of the good things to come, instead of the true form (εἰκών) of these matters, and it can never, by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near” (Heb. 10:1). Since the blood of bulls and goats cannot truly take away sins (Heb. 10:3), the sacrificial system was intended to foreshadow the coming work of Messiah, who was born to die, in accordance with God’s will, and to offer his own body as a sacrifice for sin “once for all” (Heb. 10:5-10). “For by a single offering (μιᾷ γὰρ προσφορᾷ τετελείωκεν) he has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified” (Heb. 10:14).
Now while it is indeed true that Yeshua served as our great High priest after the order of Malki-Tzedek by offering his blood upon the heavenly "kapporet" (cover of the Ark) in the holy of holies “made without hands,” there still is a prophetic component to this holiday that applies to ethnic Israel regarding the prophesied End of Days. After all, the realm of “shadows” still applies in the case of unbelieving Israel, who has yet to behold the unveiled glory that awaits her... Therefore the psalmist prophetically cries out, "Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of your Name; deliver us, and atone for our sins, for the sake of your Name” (Psalm 79:9), and this refers to the hour when Israel will call upon the LORD for salvation during the End of Days, otherwise called the great Day of the LORD. This event is prefigured in the blast of the “great shofar” which will be sounded to announce Yeshua as Israel’s true Redeemer and King. Indeed, our the Messiah will one day return to Israel, cleanse her Temple, restore her to Himself, and set up His glorious kingdom.
Since prophetically speaking Yom Kippur signifies ethnic Israel's atonement secured through Yeshua's sacrificial avodah as Israel's true High Priest and King, there is still a sense of longing and affliction connected to this holiday that will not be removed until finally "all Israel is saved" (Rom. 11:26). So, on the one hand we celebrate Yom Kippur because it acknowledges Yeshua as our High Priest of the New Covenant, but on the other hand, we "have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in our hearts" for the redemption of the Jewish people and the atonement of their sins (Rom. 9:1-5; 10:1-4; 11:1-2, 11-15, 25-27). In the meantime, we are in a period of "mysterious grace" wherein we have opportunity to offer the terms of the New Covenant to people of every nation, tribe and tongue. After the "fullness of the Gentiles" is come in, however, God will turn His full attention to fulfilling His promises given to ethnic Israel. May that great Day of the LORD come soon, chaverim... The Riches of His Grace
“In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.” (Ephesians 1:7)
The attributes of God are characterized by the “riches of His grace.” This amazing grace led Him to shed His blood as the price of our redemption.
No wonder men have developed the familiar acrostic for GRACE—“God’s Riches at Christ’s Expense.” “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich” (2 Corinthians 8:9).
Paul seems again and again to try to find descriptions for these riches. To the Romans he wrote of “the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering” (Romans 2:4) and of His plan to “make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of [his] mercy” (Romans 9:23). Speaking of God’s mercy, he exclaims, “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!” (Romans 11:33).
The inexhaustibility of these infinite depths of grace and mercy led Paul to call these attributes “the unsearchable riches of Christ” (Ephesians 3:8). Desiring that all believers might learn to appreciate the tremendous future they have in Christ, he prayed that “the eyes of your understanding being enlightened,” somehow we might come to appreciate even now “the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints” (Ephesians 1:18).
Yet, marvelously rich and full though His grace is now, there is much more to come. “God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ,...That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:4-5, 7). Saturday, Eighteenth Week in Ordinary Time
(Liturgical Colour: Green: A (1))
First Reading Deuteronomy 6:4-13 You shall love the Lord your God, with all your heart.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm Psalm 18:2-3a, 3bc-4, 47 and 51
R/ I love you, Lord, my strength.
I love you, O LORD, my strength, O LORD, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer.
R/ I love you, Lord, my strength.
My God, my rock of refuge, my shield, the horn of my salvation, my stronghold! Praised be the LORD, I exclaim! And I am safe from my enemies.
R/ I love you, Lord, my strength.
The LORD live! And blessed be my Rock! Extolled be God my savior! You who gave great victories to your king, and showed kindness to your anointed, to David and his posterity forever.
R/ I love you, Lord, my strength.
Gospel Acclamation cf. 2 Timothy 1:10
Alleluia, alleluia. Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life to light through the Gospel. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel Matthew 17:14-20 If you have faith, nothing will be impossible for you.
A man came up to Jesus, knelt down before him, and said, “Lord, have pity on my son, who is a lunatic and suffers severely; often he falls into fire, and often into water. I brought him to your disciples, but they could not cure him.” Jesus said in reply, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long will I be with you? How long will I endure you? Bring the boy here to me.” Jesus rebuked him and the demon came out of him, and from that hour the boy was cured. Then the disciples approached Jesus in private and said, “Why could we not drive it out?” He said to them, “Because of your little faith. Amen, I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

(Readings for the memorial)
(There is a choice today between the readings for the ferial day (Saturday) and those for the memorial. The ferial readings are recommended unless pastoral reasons suggest otherwise)
First Reading Proverbs 31:10-13, 19-20, 30-31 The woman who fears the Lord will be praised.
When one finds a worthy wife, her value is far beyond pearls. Her husband, entrusting his heart to her, has an unfailing prize. She brings him good, and not evil, all the days of her life. She obtains wool and flax and makes cloth with skillful hands. She puts her hands to the distaff, and her fingers ply the spindle. She reaches out her hands to the poor, and extends her arms to the needy. Charm is deceptive and beauty fleeting; the woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Give her a reward of her labors, and let her works praise her at the city gates.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm Psalm 131:1bcde, 2, 3
R/ In you, Lord, I have found my peace.
O LORD, my heart is not proud, nor are my eyes haughty; I busy not myself with great things, nor with things too sublime for me.
R/ In you, Lord, I have found my peace.
Nay rather, I have stilled and quieted my soul like a weaned child. Like a weaned child on its mother’s lap, so is my soul within me.
R/ In you, Lord, I have found my peace.
O Israel, hope in the LORD, both now and forever.
R/ In you, Lord, I have found my peace.
Gospel Acclamation John 8:31b-32
Alleluia, alleluia. If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will know the truth, says the Lord. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel Mark 3:31-35 Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.
The mother of Jesus and his brothers arrived. Standing outside they sent word to him and called him. A crowd seated around him told him, “Your mother and your brothers and your sisters are outside asking for you.” But he said to them in reply, “Who are my mother and my brothers?” And looking around at those seated in the circle he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.”

Either:
First Reading Genesis 3:9-15, 20 I will put enmity between your offspring and the offspring of the woman.
After the man, Adam, had eaten of the tree, the LORD God called to the man and asked him, “Where are you?” He answered, “I heard you in the garden; but I was afraid, because I was naked, so I hid myself.” Then he asked, “Who told you that you were naked? You have eaten, then, from the tree of which I had forbidden you to eat!” The man replied, “The woman whom you put here with me– she gave me fruit from the tree, and so I ate it.” The LORD God then asked the woman, “Why did you do such a thing?” The woman answered, “The serpent tricked me into it, so I ate it.” Then the LORD God said to the serpent:
“Because you have done this, you shall be banned from all the animals and from all the wild creatures; On your belly shall you crawl, and dirt shall you eat all the days of your life. I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; He will strike at your head, while you strike at his heel.”
The man called his wife Eve, because she became the mother of all the living.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
OR: --------
First reading Genesis 12:1-7 The Lord spoke to our ancestors, to Abraham and to his descendants for ever (Luke 1:55).
The LORD said to Abram: “Go forth from the land of your kinsfolk and from your father’s house to a land that I will show you.
”I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. All the communities of the earth shall find blessing in you.”
Abram went as the LORD directed him, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran. Abram took his wife Sarai, his brother’s son Lot, all the possessions that they had accumulated, and the persons they had acquired in Haran, and they set out for the land of Canaan. When they came to the land of Canaan, Abram passed through the land as far as the sacred place at Shechem, by the terebinth of Moreh. (The Canaanites were then in the land.) The LORD appeared to Abram and said, “To your descendants I will give this land.” So Abram built an altar there to the LORD who had appeared to him.
OR: --------
First reading 2 Samuel 7:1-5, 8b-11, 16 The Lord God will give him the throne of David his father (Luke 1:32).
When King David was settled in his palace, and the LORD had given him rest from his enemies on every side, he said to Nathan the prophet, “Here I am living in a house of cedar, while the ark of God dwells in a tent!” Nathan answered the king, “Go, do whatever you have in mind, for the LORD is with you.” But that night the LORD spoke to Nathan and said: “Go tell my servant David, ‘Thus says the LORD: Should you build me a house to dwell in?’ “‘It was I who took you from the pasture and from the care of the flock to be commander of my people Israel. I have been with you wherever you went, and I have destroyed all your enemies before you. And I will make you famous like the great ones of the earth. I will fix a place for my people Israel; I will plant them so that they may dwell in their place without further disturbance. Neither shall the wicked continue to afflict them as they did of old, since the time I first appointed judges over my people Israel. I will give you rest from all your enemies. The LORD also reveals to you that he will establish a house for you. Your house and your kingdom shall endure forever before me; your throne shall stand firm forever.’”
OR: --------
First reading 1 Chronicles 15:3-4, 15-16; 16:1-2 They brought in the ark of God and set it within the tent which David had pitched for it.
David assembled all Israel in Jerusalem to bring the ark of the LORD to the place which he had prepared for it. David also called together the sons of Aaron and the Levites. The Levites bore the ark of God on their shoulders with poles, as Moses had ordained according to the word of the LORD. David commanded the chiefs of the Levites to appoint their brethren as chanters, to play on musical instruments, harps, lyres, and cymbals to make a loud sound of rejoicing. They brought in the ark of God and set it within the tent which David had pitched for it. Then they offered up burnt offerings and peace offerings to God. When David had finished offering up the burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.
OR: --------
First reading Proverbs 8:22-31 Mary, seat of Wisdom.
The Wisdom of God says:
“The LORD begot me, the first-born of his ways, the forerunner of his prodigies of long ago; From of old I was poured forth, at the first, before the earth. When there were no depths I was brought forth, when there were no fountains or springs of water; Before the mountains were settled into place, before the hills, I was brought forth; While as yet the earth and fields were not made, nor the first clods of the world.
“When he established the heavens I was there, when he marked out the vault over the face of the deep; When he made firm the skies above, when he fixed fast the foundations of the earth; When he set for the sea its limit, so that the waters should not transgress his command; Then was I beside him as his craftsman, and I was his delight day by day, Playing before him all the while, playing on the surface of his earth; and I found delight in the sons of men.”
OR: --------
First reading Sirach 24:1-2, 3-4, 8-12, 18-21 Mary, seat of Wisdom.
Wisdom sings her own praises and is honored in God, before her own people she proclaims her glory; In the assembly of the Most High she opens her mouth, in the presence of his power she declares her worth.
“From the mouth of the Most High I came forth the first-born before all creatures. I made that in the heavens there should arise light that never fades and mistlike covered the earth. In the highest heavens did I dwell, my throne on a pillar of cloud.
“Then the Creator of all gave me his command, and he who formed me chose the spot for my tent, Saying, ‘In Jacob make your dwelling, in Israel your inheritance and among my chosen put down your roots.’ Before all ages, in the beginning, he created me, and through all ages I shall not cease to be. In the holy tent I ministered before him, and in Zion I fixed my abode. Thus in the chosen city he has given me rest, in Jerusalem is my domain. I have struck root among the glorious people, in the portion of the LORD, his heritage and in the company of the holy ones do I linger.
“Come to me, all you that yearn for me, and be filled with my fruits; You will remember me as sweeter than honey, better to have than the honeycomb my memory is unto everlasting generations. Whoever eats of me will hunger still, whoever drinks of me will thirst for more; Whoever obeys me will not be put to shame, whoever serves me will never fail.”
OR: --------
First reading Isaiah 7:10-14; 8:10 The virgin shall conceive and bear a son.
The LORD spoke to Ahaz: Ask for a sign from the LORD, your God; let it be deep as the nether world, or high as the sky! But Ahaz answered, “I will not ask! I will not tempt the LORD!” Then Isaiah said: Listen, O house of David! Is it not enough for you to weary people, must you also weary my God? Therefore the Lord himself will give you this sign: the virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall name him Emmanuel which means “God is with us.”
OR: --------
First reading Isaiah 9:1-6 A son is given us.
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; Upon those who dwelt in the land of gloom a light has shone. You have brought them abundant joy and great rejoicing, As they rejoice before you as at the harvest, as people make merry when dividing spoils. For the yoke that burdened them, the pole on their shoulder, And the rod of their taskmaster you have smashed, as on the day of Midian. For every boot that tramped in battle, every cloak rolled in blood, will be burned as fuel for flames.
For a child is born to us, a son is given us; upon his shoulder dominion rests. They name him Wonder-Counselor, God-Hero, Father-Forever, Prince of Peace. His dominion is vast and forever peaceful, From David’s throne, and over his kingdom, which he confirms and sustains By judgment and justice, both now and forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this!
OR: --------
First reading Isaiah 61:9-11 I rejoice heartily in the Lord.
Thus says the LORD:
Their descendants shall be renowned among the nations, and their offspring among the peoples; All who see them shall acknowledge them as a race the LORD has blessed.
I rejoice heartily in the LORD, in my God is the joy of my soul; For he has clothed me with a robe of salvation, and wrapped me in a mantle of justice, Like a bridegroom adorned with a diadem, like a bride bedecked with her jewels. As the earth brings forth its plants, and a garden makes its growth spring up, So will the Lord GOD make justice and praise spring up before all the nations.
OR: --------
First reading Micah 5:1-4a Until the time when she who is to give birth has borne.
The LORD says:
You, Bethlehem-Ephrathah, too small to be among the clans of Judah, From you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel; Whose origin is from of old, from ancient times. (Therefore the Lord will give them up, until the time when she who is to give birth has borne, And the rest of his brethren shall return to the children of Israel.) He shall stand firm and shepherd his flock by the strength of the LORD, in the majestic name of the LORD, his God; And they shall remain, for now his greatness shall reach to the ends of the earth; he shall be peace.
OR: --------
First reading Zechariah 2:14-17 Rejoice, O daughter Zion! See, I am coming.
Sing and rejoice, O daughter Zion! See, I am coming to dwell among you, says the LORD. Many nations shall join themselves to the LORD on that day, and they shall be his people, and he will dwell among you, and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you. The LORD will possess Judah as his portion in the holy land, and he will again choose Jerusalem. Silence, all mankind, in the presence of the LORD! for he stirs forth from his holy dwelling.

Eleazar became the father of Matthan, Matthan the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary. Of her was born Jesus who is called the Christ. Now this is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about. When his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, but before they lived together, she was found with child through the Holy Spirit. Joseph her husband, since he was a righteous man, yet unwilling to expose her to shame, decided to divorce her quietly. Such was his intention when, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the Holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her. She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:
Behold, the virgin shall be with child and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel,

When the magi had departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Rise, take the child and his mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. Herod is going to search for the child to destroy him.” Joseph rose and took the child and his mother by night and departed for Egypt. He stayed there until the death of Herod, that what the Lord had said through the prophet might be fulfilled, Out of Egypt I called my son. When Herod had died, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt and said, “Rise, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the child’s life are dead.” He rose, took the child and his mother, and went to the land of Israel. But when he heard that Archelaus was ruling over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go back there. And because he had been warned in a dream, he departed for the region of Galilee. He went and dwelt in a town called Nazareth, so that what had been spoken through the prophets might be fulfilled, He shall be called a Nazorean.

Gospel Luke 1:26-38 Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son.
The angel Gabriel was sent from God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the virgin’s name was Mary. And coming to her, he said, “Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you.” But she was greatly troubled at what was said and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his Kingdom there will be no end.” But Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I have no relations with a man?” And the angel said to her in reply, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. And behold, Elizabeth, your relative, has also conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren; for nothing will be impossible for God.” Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” Then the angel departed from her.

Gospel Luke 1:39-47 Blessed is she who believed.
Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.” And Mary said:
“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my savior.”

Gospel Luke 2:1-14 She gave birth to her firstborn son.
In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that the whole world should be enrolled. This was the first enrollment, when Quirinius was governor of Syria. So all went to be enrolled, each to his own town. And Joseph too went up from Galilee from the town of Nazareth to Judea, to the city of David that is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. While they were there, the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. Now there were shepherds in that region living in the fields and keeping the night watch over their flock. The angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were struck with great fear. The angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Christ and Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel, praising God and saying:
“Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

Gospel Luke 2:15b-19 Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart.

When they saw this, they made known the message that had been told them about this child. All who heard it were amazed by what had been told them by the shepherds. And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart.

Gospel Luke 2:27-35 You yourself a sword will pierce.
Simeon came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform the custom of the law in regard to him, he took him into his arms and blessed God, saying:
“Lord, now let your servant go in peace; your word has been fulfilled; my own eyes have seen the salvation which you prepared in the sight of every people: a light to reveal you to the nations and the glory of your people Israel.”
The child’s father and mother were amazed at what was said about him; and Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, “Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted and you yourself a sword will pierce so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.”

Gospel Luke 2:41-52 Your father and I have been looking for you.
Each year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover, and when he was twelve years old, they went up according to festival custom. After they had completed its days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, but his parents did not know it. Thinking that he was in the caravan, they journeyed for a day and looked for him among their relatives and acquaintances, but not finding him, they returned to Jerusalem to look for him. After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions, and all who heard him were astounded at his understanding and his answers. When his parents saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety.” And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” But they did not understand what he said to them. He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them; and his mother kept all these things in her heart. And Jesus advanced in wisdom and age and favor before God and man.

Gospel Luke 11:27-28 Blessed is the womb that carried you.

Gospel John 2:1-11 The mother of Jesus was there.
There was a wedding in Cana at Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding. When the wine ran short, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.” And Jesus said to her, “Woman, how does your concern affect me? My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servers, “Do whatever he tells you.” Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washings, each holding twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus told them, “Fill the jars with water.” So they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, “Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter.” So they took it. And when the headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine, without knowing where it came from although the servers who had drawn the water knew, the headwaiter called the bridegroom and said to him, “Everyone serves good wine first, and then when people have drunk freely, an inferior one; but you have kept the good wine until now.” Jesus did this as the beginning of his signs in Cana in Galilee and so revealed his glory, and his disciples began to believe in him.
Or:
Gospel John 19:25-27 Behold, your son. Behold, your mother.
Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.

And he went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem. Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able. When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are: Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets. But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God. - Luke 13:22-29 KJV
Have you ever heard someone say, or perhaps thought to yourself "Look at him/her, I can't believe the way he's/she's acting! He/She goes to church every Sunday?" Perhaps it's someone at work, or at school, or in the neighborhood, or even in your family. "What a hypocrite!", you might say, and it's possible that that person doesn't have a clue – much like the Pharisees.
In today's Bible passage, the Apostles are being condemned for eating without washing their hands. Now, we don't know the circumstances, but I would bet that many of us do the same thing even though we know that we should wash our hands before eating. However, if I want an ice cream on a hot day, I'm not going to ask the kid at the ice cream stand where to find a bathroom so that I can first wash my hands.
But for observant Jews, to wash before eating was one of the many, many Mosaic laws. Jesus Christ points out for them, that some laws are more important than others – like being honest, refraining from envy, not stealing...In other words, keeping the Ten Commandments. If we apply this message to today, we can ask ourselves if we are faithful to the Law of Love that Jesus has given us, or if we just give it lip service. Unless we refrain from lying, cheating, gossiping, stealing, greediness, passing judgment on others, and so many other traps the world holds out for us, are we any better than those we might criticize?
We come to listen to God's Word, not so that we can pat ourselves on the back for keeping the Commandments, but to learn how to better follow Jesus in our daily lives. It would be well for us to take to heart the response to today's psalm, "One who does justice will live in the presence of the Lord", and the words of St. James, "Be doers of the Word and not hearers only, deluding yourselves."
May we choose to do God’s will and follow His ways. May He help us to be doers of His Holy Word, not just hearers of it. May we make sure that we give our hearts and lives to God and take time daily to seek and praise Him and share His Truth with the world. May the LORD our God and Father in Heaven help us to stay diligent and obedient and help us to guard our hearts in Him and His Word daily, May He help us to remain faithful and full of excitement to do our duty to Him and for His glorious return and our reunion in Heaven as well as all that awaits us there.

Tuesday (March 19): Joseph did as the angel commanded him
Gospel Reading: Matthew 1:16, 18-21, 24   (alternate reading: Matthew 23:1-12)
16 Jacob was the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ. 18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary  had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit; 19 and her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly. 20 But as he considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary  your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit; 21 she will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins." 24 When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him; he took his wife
Old Testament Reading: 2 Samuel 7:4-5,12-14-16
4 But that same night the word of the LORD came to Nathan, 5 "Go and tell my servant David, 'Thus says the LORD: Would you build me a house to dwell in? 12 When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come forth from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever. 14 I will be his father, and he shall be my son. When he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, with the stripes of the sons of men; 15 but I will not take my steadfast love from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away from before you. 16 And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure for ever before me; your throne shall be established for ever.'"
Meditation: Are you prepared to obey the Lord in everything? Faith in God's word and obedience to his commands go hand in hand. Joseph, like Mary, is a model of faith and justice. Matthew tells us that Joseph was a "just man". John Chrysostom (347-407 AD), a gifted preacher and bishop of Constantinople, comments on the great virtue we see in Joseph which qualified him to be a worthy guardian and foster father for the child Jesus:
"The concept of 'just' here signifies the man who possesses all the virtues. By 'justice' one at times understands only one virtue in particular, as in the phrase: the one who is not avaricious (greedy) is just. But 'justice' also refers to virtue in general. And it is in this sense, above all, that scripture uses the word 'justice'. For example, it refers to: a just man and true (cf. Job 1:1), or the two were just (cf. Luke 1:6). Joseph, then, being just, that is to say good and charitable..."
Joseph believed and obeyed God's instruction
Joseph's faith was put to the test when he discovered that his espoused wife Mary was pregnant. Joseph, being a just and God-fearing man, did not wish to embarrass, punish, or expose Mary to harm. To all outward appearances it looked as if she had broken their solemn pledge to be chaste and faithful to one another. Joseph, no doubt took this troubling matter to God in prayer. He was not hasty to judge or to react with hurt or anger.
God rewarded him not only with guidance and consolation, but with the divine assurance that he had indeed called Joseph to be the husband of Mary and to assume a mission that would require the utmost faith, confidence, and trust in Almighty God. Joseph believed in the divine message to take Mary as his wife and to accept the child in her womb as the promised Messiah, who is both the only begotten Son of God and son of Mary conceived by the Holy Spirit.
Joseph is a man of faith and fatherly care Joseph was a worthy successor to the great patriarchs of the old covenant - Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Joseph followed the call of God through the mysterious circumstances that surrounded the coming of Jesus, the long-awaited Messiah who fulfilled all the promises made to Abraham and his offspring. God entrusted this silent, humble man with the unique privilege of raising, protecting, teaching, and training Jesus as a growing child. Joseph accepted his role of fatherly care with faith, trust, and obedience to the will of God. He is a model for all who are entrusted with the care, instruction, and protection of the young. Joseph is a faithful witness and servant of God's unfolding plan of redemption.
The Lord guides and strengthens all who trust in him Are you ready to put your trust in the Lord to give you his help and guidance in fulfilling your responsibilities? God gives strength and guidance to those who seek his help, especially when we face trials, doubts, fears, perplexing circumstances, and what seems like insurmountable problems and challenges in our personal lives. God our heavenly Father has not left us alone, but has given us his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to be our savior, teacher, lord, and healer. Where do you need God's help, strength, and guidance? Ask the Lord to increase your faith and trust in his promises and in his guiding hand in your life.
"Lord Jesus, you came to free us from the power of sin, fear, and death, and to heal and restore us to wholeness of life. May I always trust in your saving help, guidance, wisdom, and plan for my life."
Psalm 89:2-5,27,29
2 For your steadfast love was established for ever, your faithfulness is firm as the heavens. 3 You have said, "I have made a covenant with my chosen one, I have sworn to David my servant: 4 `I will establish your descendants for ever, and build your throne for all generations.'" [Selah] 5 Let the heavens praise your wonders, O LORD, your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones! 27 And I will make him the first-born, the highest of the kings of the earth. 29 I will establish his line for ever and his throne as the days of the heavens.
A Daily Quote for March 19: The character of Joseph, from a homily by Bernard of Clairvaux, 1090-1153
"Joseph's character and qualities can be deduced from the fact that God honored him with the title of father, and, although his doing so was a mere matter of convenience, this was what he was known as and believed to be. Joseph's own name, which as you know means "increase", supplies further indications. Call to mind the great patriarch of old who was sold into Egypt, and you will realize that it was not only his name that our saint received but also his chastity, innocence, and grace. His brothers' envy had caused the earlier Joseph to be sold and taken to Egypt, thus symbolizing the selling of Christ: the later Joseph carried Christ into Egypt, fleeing before Herod's envy... The first Joseph had the gift of interpreting dreams: the second was given a revelation of the divine plan and a share in its accomplishment. Joseph the patriarch stored up grain, not for himself but for all the people: our Joseph was given custody of the living bread from heaven to keep safe both for himself and the whole world. There is no doubt that the Joseph to whom the Savior's mother was engaged was a good and faithful man. He was, I say, the wise and faithful steward whom the Lord appointed to support his mother and care for himself in childhood, singling him out for his complete reliability to help him with his momentous plan." (Hom. 2 super Missus est, 11.16: PL 183, 69-70)

Deuteronomy 34:1-Joshua 2:24, Luke 13:23-14:6, Psalms 79:1-13, Proverbs 12:26
Today is the 10th day of the month of April. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian. It's great to be here with you today. Briefly back in the rolling hills of Tennessee and then we'll be heading for the rolling hills of Georgia and the beginning of the More Gathering for Women 2018. That begins this Thursday, day after tomorrow. So, it's great to be here with you today. We will be concluding the book of Deuteronomy here just momentarily. Which means we will be concluding what is known as the Torah or the Pentateuch, the first five books of the Bible and then moving into what comes next, which is the book of Joshua. And we'll talk about that when we get there. But let's conclude. Reading from the Good News translation this week. The book of Deuteronomy, chapter 34.
Introduction to the book of Joshua:
And that concludes the book of Deuteronomy, which brings us to the book of Joshua, which is an exhilarating book to step into.  Because we've been at this fourteen weeks since the beginning of the year, I have to count. But something like that. We've been at this day by day, moment by moment, moving through the stories here. And almost from the very beginning of the Bible we've been hearing about this thing called the promised land. So, by this time it's almost mythic. It's like a mythic land that was promised in advanced to Abraham and then Isaac and Jacob and Joseph. All of these people we met and followed their stories. And learned a lot about our own story in their stories. And throughout all of their stories, there's this whisper of hope. All throughout the formation of the children of Israel and their captivity. And their exodus into freedom and the establishment of a new culture. Everything that we've gone through so far has been toward the promised land. And here we are. We're about to cross over the Jordan River into the promised land. And this is the second time they've been right at the precipice. The first time they were thwarted. Forty more years were spent wandering in the desert. An entire generation was lost because of their disobedience, their fear, their lack of trust in God. And now as we just read in the conclusion of Deuteronomy, Moses has died having seen the promised land but not entering it. And that's kind of where we are in the Scriptures. We hear of it. It's mythic. We've kind of seen it but we haven't gone into it. And now Joshua has stepped up as the leader of Israel. And Joshua translated to English means savior. If we go back to the original Hebrew, Joshua is Jesus. Yeshua. Joshua. So, I'm not saying this man Joshua that we're about to read about is Jesus. I'm just saying the parallels of redemption are just so intertwined in the Scriptures. So, we're gonna cross the Jordan and we'll see that God has prepared this land for his people. He's promised it for generations. But they're not just march in and take it. They're gonna have to fight. They're gonna have to contend for it. They are on a great mission with God. And to accomplish it, they'll have to partner with God against all odds to take the land. And in this conquest, we'll notice God asking them to do very unconventional things. God continually confounds conventional wisdom with almost bizarre instructions that sometimes wouldn't make logical sense to the human mind. This is no different for us today. This is why we must be sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s guidance. This is why we must be a people of prayer. Otherwise we're just sort of bulldozing our way through life, hoping for the best decisions when we actually have our creator to guide us. And his very kingdom to bring. So, in a very real way for all these years the children of Israel have been learning to obey the Lord. And now they must go into this land with full faith that God will show up. And full faith in the promise that he gave their ancestors that this land was the promised land. And we're gonna see one of the most glorious moments in the Bible. One of the most glorious times in the lives of the children of Israel even though we'll see stumbles along the way. Right now as we move into the book of Joshua the people are fully engaged. And it gives us a glimpse of what a unified church even could look like. Unfortunately, that's not the end of the story. We'll get to that soon enough because it's not really that much of a spoiler. They do fall away and return and fall away and return for the next several hundred years, but right now we're at this glorious time. A new generation, a new leader. And the entering of the promised land. So, as we go into Joshua right now, the first five chapters will document the preparation for crossing the Jordan for battle and even their first encounters, their first battles. And the next seven chapters will recount the main battles and the actual taking of the land. And then the last part of the book is the division and settling of the promised land. Everything in the story of the patriarchs comes to these great moments. This is the promised land. The giving, the taking, the settling of the promised land. Everything that has been promised is about to be fulfilled. And so we begin. Joshua chapter 1.
Prayer:
Father, we thank You for Your word and we've turned the page and entered into a new era as we move through the Old Testament and into the book of Joshua. And, so, here we stand on the banks of the Jordan River with the children of Israel looking over into the promised land and we're about to enter. And the story will take a completely new complexion as we move into this new generation and to this new era and a shift takes place. And we can feel this in our own hearts. There's things that we have long, long desired, things that we have seen but not been able to experience. We ask, Holy Spirit, as we watch the children of Israel move into the promised land and all the things that they will have to face in it that, You will begin to speak to us about our own moving forward. Because so many times when we're dreaming something we idealize it even when You are leading us and we forget to count the cost. We're going to have to trust You to degrees that we didn't even know about. Because You're not leading us forward in life so that we can have new toys. You're leading us forward in life so that we can discover new levels of intimacy with You. So, come Holy Spirit we pray. In Jesus name. Amen.

And so right around the corner here is the   beginning of the More Gathering for Women, which is the day after tomorrow. So, between now and then a lot of orchestration has to happen. Community Prayer and Praise:
Hello Daily Audio Bible community my name is Robert. I live in Canada in the province of Ontario and I’m a new listener and I’m really trying to listen the right way. And, of course, there’s nothing that I did…nothing that I did to get here. I always understood that the blessings that God showered upon me are new every morning but I just took it for granted, I just took it for granted. And I really feel like there is a period of darkness in my life just really lifted. And I feel like…Gods…I’ve battled some dark stuff in my life. And I’m sorry that I’m so emotional but I don’t really know how to process this all too well. And here I am, I’m calling in, with some prayers for me, please. Please guys, my wife, Shiloh, isn’t a believer and we’ve been fighting about this kind of stuff. And I’m trying to just release my marriage into God’s hands so I can do. Thanks for hearing my prayer. Her name is Shiloh. Shiloh __ pray for you __. Thank you. Okay. I love all of you guys so much. I love all of you guys so much. Bye.
Hello DAB family this is Linda from Alberta calling. I was just listening to some of the prayers and I heard Sharon call in, that she called in for her daughter and her husband and she herself has some health concerns right now. But Sharon I just wanted to try to encourage you right now. I really can say I know exactly how you feel and I have my own struggles and challenges with my daughter, who also has an addiction and mental health problem. She, right now, we are in a crisis in our family but that’s, you know, not what I wanted to call in for right now. But Sharon, often I go to my closet door and I open it up and I have a paper taped and there. And this is the prayer that I pray when I’m feeling really, really uptight about things and worried about my daughter. So, I’m going to read you the prayer and I hope that ministers to you and it is actually from the reading I did once. It’s A Child’s Window. So, God, You are at work and You are in control and Lord God You know this is happening. You are at the beginning and You will bring it everything that occurs to a conclusion that results in Your greater glory in the end. Sharon, I hope that this will minister to you as well as anyone else that needed to hear that today. God bless every one of you. Bye-bye.
Hello Daily Audio Bible this is Nathan from Bloomington Illinois calling for thoughts for the day, that this is thoughts for the day. I’m suggesting that you go back and listen to the last two days, April 4th and April 5th commentary because Brian ties it together and nails the head right there. So, he said what do we see with? What if you were to look around and all you see is the glory of God? Now, we know God created everything that is around but sometimes we do sit in the darkness. Sometimes our life is stuck. And then he talked about ask, seek, knock. Ask, seek knock. It begins with asking. So, a lot of times we ask for prayer and we ask others to pray for us and that’s important, but we’re also asked to seek. Not just seeking the answer but seeking help from others like the DAB prayer line or from a counselor. And then not. When I think of knocking, I want to suggest that that tells us to do something other than just asking and seeking, seeking for answers, that it suggests not sitting and doing nothing or doing very little. So, just something…something to think about. My wife says, you can’t do the same thing and expect a different result. So, I’m expecting different results when I do something different other than just asking, seeking, and knocking sometimes. So anyway. Just some thoughts for the day. Have a great day. Make it a great day.
Your heart my home. I live and breathe and have my being in Your heart. Your heart my home. I live and breathe in Your heart. Your love is gracious, deep, wide, and true. You have forgiven me. In You I’m free. Oh Lord, restore me to who You really made me to be. Your heart my home. I live and breathe in Your loving heart. I can’t be good unless You free me to. You release me, the real me. I want to be real. Only You can take me there. Every hour, every moment, Your heart my home. [singing] Let’s pray always, worry never and love deeply. Pray always, worry never and love deeply. I can’t be good unless You free me to. You release me. The real me. I want to be real. Only You can take me there. Every hour, every moment, Your heart my home [sing ends].
Good afternoon Daily Audio Bible. This is Prosperous Pam from the San Francisco Bay Area. I just gave myself that name. Praise God. I wanted to hear a couple of things. Brian, that message that you gave today. Today’s date is, I believe it’s April the 5th, is it Wednesday, Thursday, apologize. That was such a blessing. I’m going to listen to it over and over again, how you were speaking about, help me to see better, praying that the Lord allows me to see, you know, the light. You know, a lot of times we do get stuck in some different ways and we just, you know, focus more on the darkness but there’s magnificent things all around us. So, thank you for that. Also, you can probably tell, I’m very uncomfortable speaking in front of a group. So, He’s working on me on that too. This is actually a praise report because I’ve been out of work for year. I called about a year ago in March when I didn’t have a job and I was like really having a hard time. And I still am going through my different stages, but God has just given me such power. He’s strengthening me during this time. I am still unemployed and looking for work, but I’m still praying according to His will, not my will. And I’ve never been out of work this long but He’s strengthening me, He’s maturing me, He’s loving me more. I’m so closer to Him. I’m getting so connected with the body of Christ like the Daily Audio Bible. And I have a family here that I just love so much. Declare victory in the bay area. The overseer is Pastor Dion. I’m just being so blessed. And I just wanted to share that. Praying just lives someone up who’s listening, who’s going through something, who’s waiting for that job. God has just done so many things. He’s purged so many things out of me throughout this year that I haven’t been working. So, I just hope that lifts someone up. And I still ask you to keep me in prayer. I am looking forward to going back to work when God has willed for me, the place that he has for me. My flesh has been wanted to but…
He DAB family today is April 5th and just catching up and just listening to the Easter April 1st podcast or I think it was the April 2nd one. Yeah that was funny, that April fool’s joke that you guys played. Anyways, so, I just wanted to call in and let you guys know that, Michaela from the UK, and Lisa the Victorious, I heard your prayers, I heard your prayer requests. And I want you to know that I just spent, probably, the last 20 minutes praying for you both. So, just calling because I find that just knowing that somebody’s thinking about you helps. And, of course, I don’t have to tell you, God doesn’t forget you, He doesn’t leave you, He doesn’t forsake you. He hears you even when nobody else does. And Lisa I also prayed for your daughter. I hope that you understand, I’m sure you do, that you don’t have to give up your life for her. Jesus already did that. He’s got her. So, I hope you take that. Hope you hold onto that and rest secure in His victory because he is victorious. Hey, have a great day DAB. Thanks, so much Brian again.
