My initial purchase didn't pan out. I overpaid by nearly $100, so I returned the #Yashica MAT 124G. Luckily, some more due diligence led me to a gentleman with a Yashica MAT EM. He doesn't have it anymore. He's also short two #Mamiya #cameras, a #presscamera and a #MamiyaC22 #tlr. I did a lot of Driving today, but I think I'm a happy man! Another old Nikon to my collection. As with my bikes I buy to use not to gather dust so this trusty F3 with a 50mm lens and motor winder will get film run through it on a regular basis. I intend shooting racing images a little more on film. My interest in classic bikes is increasing and seeing all the old images of racers and race machinery has prompted me to create modern images that will record the current racing environment I am involved in. Something for my children to look back at in a few years maybe?

Shot on Hasselblad 500 C/M 50mm lens using Ilford HP5.

It’s amazing how inanimate objects can bring such an immediate connection to one’s personal history. I picked up my Nikon FM2, a camera which I bought at least 26 years ago. Dented and scarred, it was once even waterlogged, but a day by a radiator brought it back to life and it’s continued to work ever since. It felt absolutely right as I raised it to my eye and focused the 35mm Nikkor. It felt so natural, so instinctive, like I had only used it on assignment earlier in the day; the fact is, I have no recollection what the last assignment I shot on it was. Such a phenomenal camera. Pulling the first negative out of the Stearman Press 445 tank. I'm digging this tank so far. It's small, lightweight, and does 4 sheets at a time. It's a good workflow to shoot two 4x5 holders and then develop. The front standards has a full range of rise, shifts, tilts and swings, an improvement over the Pacemaker series Hinged-type adjustable infinity stops on bed. Graflok back (revolving possible). Shutter and flash may be tripped electrically from button conveniently located on top left side of camera. Automaic focusing scale located conveniently on top of camera. Combined with flash exposure calculator.
