i may already technically be jewish (or at the very least have ancestry), but i dont know because of the inquisition and the fact my mom's family is a few generations into being Americans... my mom's family is from castrovillari, a town that once had a large jewish polulation (and a Giudecca, which was a ghetto)

around 1541 all the jews who didnt convert were expelled from the reigning kingdom at the time. thus the only jews left in castrovillari were those who had been forced to convert to catholicism, and records of them arent easy to access.

my ancestry research is currently stuck in the 1800s due to records being restricted, but I have some inklings that my mom's family may have been jewish. if they were, i want to uncover their story and return.

but regardless of the results I'll be converting Reform since i wasnt raised Jewish ^^
