👑 Day Four: Favorite Swedish Tiara
The Boucheron Laurel Wreath Tiara
Details from The Court Jeweler:
The convertible tiara/necklace, which was made by Boucheron, was given to Margaret by her new husband’s grandmother, Queen Sofia of Sweden. The piece may have been a stock item in Boucheron’s collection rather than a specific commission by the queen, as another nearly identical necklace by Boucheron was auctioned at Christie’s in 2010. The laurel wreath tiara became Lilian’s sole personal property on the death of Prince Bertil in 1997. After suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, Lilian died in March 2013. She made sure that this heirloom tiara stayed with the Bernadottes, bequeathing it to her great-niece, Crown Princess Victoria. Victoria wore the tiara for the first time in public at her sister’s wedding in June 2013 — a lovely gesture that provided a reminder of Lilian at an event she would certainly have loved to have attended.

Hiya! You've become my source authority on everything Swedish Royalty/Monarchy so I come to you with a hypothetical: say both Erik and Kristina dies before Wille graduates Hillerska. That means that he would have regents right? Since he would still be a minor. Would Ludvig automatically become one? How much power would Wille actually have as an underage King in the 21st century? I know this is very unlikely but hey might be a fun thought exercice
Interesting question!
In real-world Sweden, the constitution says that if the monarch is unavailable for whatever reason, the next in line adult will temporarily take over the duties as head of state. Current Crown Princess Victoria has done this a bunch of times since she became a legal adult in 1995, and before that it was usually the King's uncle, Prince Bertil, who stepped in. Also, last year, both the King and the Crown Princess were on vacation in Brazil together for a couple of weeks, so Prince Carl Philip had to step in.
Wilhelm is definitely a minor, he's turning 17 in the year season 2 started. So it's about two years before he'll turn 18 and could inherit the throne in case Kristina kicks the bucket, which means YR Sweden would need a regent for that time period.
However, the constitution also says that only adults in the line of succession can be made regents automatically, and since Wilhelm is the only person in the line, neither Duke Ludvig nor August would automatically become one. If no-one is eligible, it's up to parliament to pick a regent, and there's some precedent for giving the duties to the speaker of the house if it's short term.
But two years is long-term, and parliament can pick anyone as regent, so they could pick Duke Ludvig since he ought to know how it's done, and he ought to have a close relationship with Wilhelm so that they can work together and ease Wilhelm into the role. Ultimately, it would be a highly political decision. If parliament picks one of their own, the speaker, they're signalling that they don't support the monarchy, that they would rather the head of state was an elected politician. And if parliament picks Duke Ludvig, they're signalling that they're supporting the monarchy, and that they think the office of head of state should stay in the royal family.
As for how much power Wilhelm would have, he would have zero power regardless of him being underage or an adult. When he turns 18 he would be crowned king, he would become head of state, he would gain a ton of official duties, and he would continue having zero power, just like Kristina has zero power in the show.

Happy 44th birthday to Prince Carl Philip of Sweden, Duke of Värmland!
Born on May 13th 1979, Carl Philip Edmund Bertil is the only son and the second of three children of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. He is currently fourth in the line of succession to the Swedish throne.
Carl Philip was heir apparent to the throne of Sweden (and thus held the title Crown Prince) for seven months, until 1 January 1980 when the laws of succession were changed, introducing absolute primogeniture over male primogeniture. His elder sister Victoria became heir apparent and Crown Princess, with Carl Philip becoming second in line.
Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist married on 13 June 2015 in Stockholm's Royal Palace chapel. The couple has three sons: Prince Alexander, Duke of Södermanland, Prince Gabriel, Duke of Dalarna, and Prince Julian, Duke of Halland.

Prince Carl Philip's Crown
Duke Karl's Crown, made in 1772 by Johan Adam Marcklin, is the crown of Prince Carl Philip. The crown was made for the then Prince Karl, Duke of Södermanland, for the coronation of King Gustav III. Duke Karl later became King Karl XIII, the last monarch of the Holstein-Gottorp dynasty and the one who adopted Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte as the heir to the throne.
Apart from Duke Karl and Prince Carl Philip, this crown has been used by, for example, Gustaf VI Adolf when he was a prince in 1900-1907. It was also used by Prince Carl Philip's "extra dad", Prince Bertil and was present at Bertil's funeral in 1997.
Prince Gabriel shares the crown with his father. It's unclear which crown Prince Julian has been assigned, but he most likely shares the crown with his father and older brother.
