𝐊𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐈𝐒 𝐃𝐈𝐅𝐅𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐓. Feels different. Honestly, John chases the feeling as often as possible -- fear in the back of his mind that their time together is only finite. That he doesn’t deserve anything THIS good. But he shoves those feelings to the back of his mind for now, lips curling into a smile while still pressed against Claire’s. She pulls him closer and he complies happily, arm wrapped a little TIGHTER around her waist, other hand reaching up to gently rest at the side of her neck. It’s a softness that isn’t exactly typical -- maybe not even expected of him -- but he likes to surprise. 

John has to LAUGH, affectionate in the way he gently nudges her nose back, “Y’know I never thought I’d be into the whole Valentine’s bullshit, but if this is how you wanna celebrate? I could get on board.”

YEAH, HE FUCKED UP. What else is new? Earlier, he could’ve easily fought back and justified himself, but now? Now, he actually feels bad. Actually liking a girl is a real pain in the ass like that. John’s not sure how to actually explain -- not in a way he’s positive Claire would understand. He didn’t MEAN to hurt her, but it’s more and more clear that navigating a relationship is new territory. “I mean...” he starts, not a great start...but a start, “not exactly.” 

John sighs, gaze falling from her before reluctantly letting his eyes meet hers again. He’s frustrated with himself, never before having been so worried about the words he chooses. “Shit, it’s not like I don’t WANT you around, Claire,” it’s too hard to admit that he doesn’t actually feel like he’ll ever be good enough for her and if she’s around the people he hangs out with? That’ll only get increasingly obvious. “-- T' be honest, you probably wouldn’t fit in, but that’s not a BAD thing...I don’t mean it to be. I really didn’t think you’d wanna hang around with my friends.”

claire’s  fussing  with  his  hair  before  jason  even  realizes,  let  alone  give  himself  time  to  bat  her  hand  away.  sure  he  probably  needs  a  haircut  ( the  lock  that  likes  to  dangle  over  his  forehead  is  a  little  too  long  now  ),  but  that  his  prerogative,  &  besides  ——–  that’s  like  fussing  with  SUPERMAN’S  CURL.  brow  raises,  hair  fixed.  ❛     do  i  know  that  my  hair  was  in  my  eyes  ?  no.  i  was  wondering  why  i  was  half-blind.     ❜  sarcasm  aside,  it’s  a  useless  venture ; it’s  just  gonna  fall  back  to  where  it  wants  to  be  in  a  few  minutes,  anyway.   ❛     ———–  THANKS.     ❜  truth  be  told,  it  had  been  starting  to  annoy  him.

LAUGHTER is all that tumbles past his lips, a smug ass grin plastered across his face as he gets the exact reaction from Claire he anticipated. Seriously, ruffling her feathers is almost too easy -- and yet, it doesn’t lose any of the FUN. Combat boots hit tiled floors heavily as John goes after the redhead, “Aw, c’mon!” he looks to her as he catches up, “You tellin’ me you can’t take a little joke, Claire?” There’s a small pause, flipping hair out of his face as he takes a step in front of her with a smirk, “Wouldn’t be the first t’call me sick in the head, but you don’t seem like you MINDED as much as you’re saying.”

IMPORTANT  HEADCANONS  TO  CONSIDER  !

CAN  THEY  USE  CHOPSTICKS     /     mostly  yes,  but  sometimes  they  just  don’t  seem  to  want  to  co-operate,  &  jason  begrudgingly  has  to  stoop  to  using  a  fork  (  or  his  fingers  ).  he’ll  blame  the  situation  on  the  fact  that  ‘  they’re  the  wrong  kind  of  chopsticks  ’,  but  truth  is  that  sometimes  he’s  just  not  great  at  using  them.  this  always  tends  to  happen  when  he’s  trying  to  show  off  to  someone  that  yes,  he  can  most  definitely  use  chopsticks  just  watch  !

WHAT  DO  THEY  DO  WHEN  THEY  CAN’T  SLEEP     /      he’s  often  out  of  the  house  when  he  can’t  sleep,  preferring  to  drive  around  aimlessly  (  when  he’s  got  a  working  car  &  license  )  than  lying  in  bed  staring  at  the  ceiling.  when  he  can’t  drive  he’ll  walk,  &  when  he  can’t  do  that,  he’ll  sit  on  his  roof  &  stargaze.  occasionally  -  if  the  light  pollution’s  bad,  or  he  just  feels  like  staying  in  because  he  thinks  he’ll  feel  sleepy  within  the  hour  -  he’ll  open  up  netflix  &  watch  an  episode  of  whatever’s  trending  at  the  time.

WHAT  WOULD  THEY  IMPULSE  BUY  AT  THE  GROCERY  STORE         a  giant  bottle  of  dr.  pepper,  &  a  bag  of  flamin’  hot  cheetos.

WHAT  ORDER  DO  THEY  WASH  THINGS  IN  THE  SHOWER     /     his  body,  &  then  his  hair.  he’s  a  quick  showerer  ---  in  &  out  in  three  minutes,  five  at  most  !  but  sometimes  (  like  after  football  practice  ),  he  can  stay  in  there  for  longer.  when  he  messed  up  his  knee,  he  was  in  the  shower  for  forty-seven  minutes  just  .  .  .  thinking,  before  his  mom  banged  on  the  door  saying  he  was  going  to  waste  all  the  hot  water.

WHAT’S  THEIR  COFFEE  ORDER     /     jason  gets  a  triple  tall  americano,  no  sugar.  he’ll  treat  himself  with  a  caramel  macchiato  on  occasion,  though.

WHAT  SORT  OF  APPS  WOULD  THEY  HAVE  ON  THEIR  SMARTPHONE     /       he  had  lyft  &;  uber  downloaded  for  a  few  days  after  the  prank,  but  quickly  deleted  them  when  he  realized  he  didn’t  enjoy  getting  lifts  from  people  who  glared  at  him  the  entire  time  ---  if  they  even  accepted  his  request,  that  is.  he’s  got  neko  atsume  on  his  phone  as  a  mindfulness  initiative,  but  he’s  hidden  it  in  a  folder  &  won’t  admit  to  having  it  (  let  alone  having  progressed  decently  within  the  game  ).  he’s  got  classic  temple  run  for  those  moments  he’s  bored  &  doesn’t  want  to  waste  data,   netflix,  instagram,  snapchat,  facebook  messenger  *(  though  he  doesn’t  have  the  actual  fb  app  ),  youtube,  google  maps,  spotify,  &  the  official  mlb  &  nfl  apps.

HOW  DO  THEY  ACT  AROUND  CHILDREN     /      jason  is  really,  really  good  with  kids.  he  instantly  goes  into  ‘  laidback  big  brother  ’  mode  around  kids,  &  cites  his  relationship  with  pearl  as  the  basis  for  this.  he  is,  however,  not  always  the  best  influence  on  kids  ------  he’s  definitely  the  ‘  sure,  you  can  have  three  extra  pieces  of  candy,  just  don’t  tell  your  mom  i  said  it  was  okay  ’  type.  kids  love  him  for  it,  though.

WHAT  WOULD  THEY  WATCH  ON  TV  WHEN  THEY’RE  BORED  AND  NOTHING  THEY  REALLY  LIKE  IS  ON      /     if  a  quiz  show  is  on  he’ll  watch  that,  or  any  kind  of  cooking  show.
