In her sadly unoriginal attempt to convince the general public that pandemic response equated to the genocide of some six million Jewish men, women, and children, the owner of a Nashville hat company posted a photo of herself on Instagram wearing a yellow patch similar to the Star of David with the phrase "NOT VACCINATED" on it. That owner, Gigi Gaskins of the company HatWrks, then defended the post in the kind of rant only a person of privilege could produce. In the Instagram post Gaskins wrote: "people are so outraged by my post? but are you outraged with the tyranny the world is experiencing? if you don't understand what is happening, that is on you, not me. i pay much more respect to history by standing up with the fallen than offering silence & compliance. that is the worse crime. it was then & is now. i will delete your disgust and hope you put it where it belongs."
Well, distributers of HatWrks apparently are putting the company’s products in the same circular filing system Gaskins referenced. John B. Stetson, a western apparel company, announced on social media Sunday that the brand and its distribution partners are ceasing all sales of HatWrks products.
https://twitter.com/joncoopertweets/status/1398820515792535556
Tumblr media
"We are aware of the situation in Nashville. We take this matter seriously and are investigating in order to take the necessary and appropriate next steps. Along with our distribution partners, Stetson condemns antisemitism and discrimination of any kind," Stetson said in a Twitter thread. "As a result of the offensive content and opinions shared by HatWrks in Nashville, Stetson and our distribution partners will cease the sale of all (HatWrks) products. We thank you for your continued support and patience."
The announcement followed a demonstration outside of the HatWrks store on Saturday in which protesters held a sign reading “NO NAZIS IN NASHVILLE!” Social media criticism started even earlier. Ivo Daalder, a former U.S. ambassador to NATO, tweeted on Friday: “As a young schoolgirl in Holland, my mother was forced to wear a yellow star by the Nazis to identify her as a Jew. It’s beyond grotesque to sell this evil symbol to proclaim one [is] not vaccinated. Where does this end?” Actor W Earl Brown said in his tweet on Friday: “I am ashamed to know that I’ve given these people business in the past; I’ve sent people there. This is vile and repulsive. They trumpet that they’re proud to ‘Stand Up Against Tyranny’. Well, I am proud to say GO (F--K) YOURSELF. I’ll purchase my chapeaus elsewhere.”
Gaskins, who by the way didn’t seem to mind accepting more than $92,000 in Paycheck Protection Program funding intended to aid small businesses affected by the coronavirus pandemic, posted yet another rant to the company Instagram account even after the backlash. (Disclosure: Kos Media received a Paycheck Protection Program loan.)
Gaskins said in her post that had all the markings of a person who had encountered very little actual oppression:
"your children cannot return to school unless you show your papers. you cannot return to university unless you show your papers. you cannot keep your job unless you show your papers. you cannot use public transportation unless you show your papers. you cannot enter government buildings unless you show your papers. you cannot enter private businesses unless you show your papers. you will not be allowed in banks unless you show your papers. you will not be allowed in hospitals unless you show your papers. at the least, all unvaccinated people will be segregated from society, marked & must wear a mask. what comes next ?
this has been the push, that is not fiction. much of this is happening right now. there is a historical parallel to fascism to be drawn. we can only fight back to not relive history.”
It’s funny how threatened profit losses inspire transformation. Gaskins’ Instagram post on Saturday night was a statement of apology. She wrote: “in NO WAY did I intend to trivialize the Star of David or disrespect what happened to millions of people. that is not who i am & what i stand for. my intent was not to exploit or make a profit. my hope was to share my genuine concern & fear, and to do all that i can to make sure that nothing like that ever happens again. i sincerely apologize for any insensitivity.” Twitter users aren’t buying it.

Tumblr media
Erin Wilburn, a video editor and food blogger tweeted in response to Stetson’s announcement: "My husband buys your hats and is a FORMER Hatwrks customer, until the owner showed her true self. We will be happy to continue to support Stetson through other avenues." Claire Willett, a playwright and author, tweeted: "when STETSON, the COWBOY HAT MANUFACTURER, has distance themselves from your right-wing lunacy, ask yourself, just how far from the path have you strayed" Melissa Jo Peltier, an Emmy-winning writer and producer, tweeted: "Thank you, Stetson.  This East Coast girl still has a gorgeous Stetson bought in the 80’s…it’s still in mint condition."

Royal College of Art – new Battersea campus
Thursday 23 September 2021 – The Royal College of Art, the world’s leading university of art and design, will launch its new campus in Battersea, London, on 11 January 2022. The state-of-the-art building, designed by internationally renowned Swiss architects, Herzog & de Meuron, will provide a new home for innovation and design, embodying the RCA’s academic vision to interweave art and design with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).
The new Battersea campus is the largest development in the College’s 184-year history, enabling it to expand the frontiers of knowledge in art and design through innovative research, teaching and knowledge exchange. The RCA’s internationally recognised specialism in art and design has influenced generations and shaped our current world, encompassing both large-scale industry and common place objects, from the cars we drive and the buildings in which we live and work, to the clothes we wear and the art that lifts us out of the mundane. Its mission to imagine the future can now be fully realised with outstanding new facilities, incorporating cutting-edge technologies across the disciplines of computer and materials science, robotics, advanced manufacturing and intelligent mobility.
With a focus on ‘action’ research, students will be empowered to foster new design approaches to real-world problems and create innovations that lead to demonstrable impacts on a global scale to improve and change lives. Areas of application will include safer and better health services, designs for a more inclusive society, new products for the global longevity economy, and advances in design for mobility through emerging technologies. Alongside this research focus, the College’s centre for entrepreneurship, InnovationRCA, will spearhead the commercialisation of new human-centred design products and sustainability initiatives within industry. The new campus will ensure the College continues to play a vital role in driving innovation in the UK and beyond by providing answers to the challenges of rapid urbanisation, the effects of climate change, an ageing population, and the need for ethical responsibility within all creative practices.
Located to the south of the existing RCA buildings in Battersea, the 15,500 square-metre landmark new building will act as a radical spatial catalyst, embracing a greater cross-disciplinary dialogue between vehicle designers and architects, animators and ceramicists, fashion designers and textile students, sculptors and jewellery designers, performance artists and filmmakers within new make-spaces to push the boundaries in developing ground-breaking research.
Comprising two connected building blocks, the first four-storey Studio Building will focus on postgraduate teaching, making and learning with enhanced studios and workshops for Sculpture and Contemporary Art Practice, Design Products and Robotics. Designed as social and educational spaces of creative transfer and collaboration, the studios will also accommodate temporary exhibitions and large-scale works. The Design Studios will consist of the Design Product Studios, Innovation Design Studios, an Engineering Studio, the Immersion Lab, the Materials Nature Lab, the Manufacturing Lab and the Computer Science Lab, while the Moving Image Studio will be a highly specified, flexible working space allowing film and video production activities to be performed at the most advanced technical level, facilitating students to produce industry standard work.
A dramatic double-height covered street Hangar lies at the heart of the building, providing a multifunctional activity space for large-scale automotive and sculptural objects to be assembled and exhibited. The Hangar will become the focal point for RCA artists and makers, and their interactions with the public, including events, screenings, performances, exhibitions and graduate shows. The smaller Robotics Hangar and gallery space will provide flexible research testing and assembly areas for intelligent mobility, design engineering, sculpture, and aquatic and aerial robotics.
The Rausing Research and Innovation Building will comprise eight floors of dedicated independent research space, including new research centres for Materials Science, Textile Circularity, Design for Ageing and Computer Science, alongside InnovationRCA, the Clore Innovation Centre and the renowned Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design. Two of its floors will unite the Mobility Design Centre with the MA in Intelligent Mobility. New laboratories will include a lab for advanced modelling and manufacturing processes along with the Visualisation Lab, an immersive visual and acoustic virtual cocoon capable of modelling complex constructed environments and digitally capturing the real world, opening-up new ways of working with simulation, virtual reality and immersive technology. At the pinnacle of the building, commanding views across London, the Knowledge Exchange Centre will offer a suite of seminar and conference facilities for cross-disciplinary use by students, academics, researchers and industry partners, furthering the RCA’s close collaboration with the industry sector.
Sustainability and energy efficiency are central to the new development, certifying the continuation of the RCA’s global contribution as the number one university for art and design. Approximately £3 million will be invested in making the building BREEAM excellent, using a combination of integrated design and most significantly a commitment to low and zero carbon technologies.
Through Herzog & de Meuron’s architectural vision, the campus will increase the RCA’s overall footprint in Battersea to create a united the 26,000 square-metre campus, providing a new hub for innovation and design within the wider Battersea Creative Quarter.
Dr. Paul Thompson, Vice-Chancellor, Royal College of Art, said: “The opening of our new campus in Battersea, is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to realise our academic ambition to become a STEAM university, combining innovative new technologies with the traditional disciplinary practices to provide exceptional experiences for designers, artists and storytellers who will go on to enhance the world.”
Jacques Herzog, Founding Partner, Herzog & de Meuron, said: “Our experience with designing many museums in the last 20 years tells me that art institutions increasingly tend to blur the traditional boundaries between the collection, presentation, preservation, and even the production of art. In addition, such institutions want to be great social spaces and focal points for public life. Our design for the new RCA and its programming at Battersea traces a path not so dissimilar to this new ideal. Students, teachers, and visitors will find themselves in a kind of village built around the topic of art, with an architectural atmosphere that encourages the entire community to engage in a constant process of teaching and learning, producing, presenting, and discussing art.”

In the appendix year-gain
In the appendix year-gain, just about all daub therapist I know has taken a long see at their smear job and asked themselves, stay or go? A smear therapist pal and I meaninglessness roughly protester tapotementhaving to bop someone something considering the subject of the head. The revolution of 2020 (which isnt higher than, even halfway into 2021) has unchangeable daub therapists a hermetically sealed circular of campaigner tapotement.
Some people approved to retire or shape into a subsidiary profession. Some established to stay but throbbing regulate in how theyve been nimble, including where they operate.
If you are ready to see at a auxiliary where, follow this improvement to the top 10 places therapists might safe a rub job. I have grouped these into two categories: daub-primary and rub-subsidiary: places where smooth is the primary matter and places where daub is a additional share of their matter.
Massage-Primary vs. Massage-Secondary Jobs When a workplace is smear-primary, the things you obsession to speak to smoothlook, supplies, tools and periodwill be strong priority because daub is its primary allowance stream. You may have leadership who are or have been smear therapists themselves. Management should comprehend the dependence for continuing education, license renewal and period along surrounded by appointments.
When a workplace is smooth-additional, the things you dependence to control smooth may not be final priority because daub is not the primary allowance stream. Its supplementary, or a tote taking place to the primary source of allowance.
You cant expect leadership to be or have been daub therapists or even comply to the needs of rub therapists. You may have to very developed harder to profit what you dependence. You may have to educate leadership nearly smear.
Well manner at both smooth-primary and daub-additional settings.
Massage-Primary Jobs Private practice. This is the ultimate experience of self-employment. Whether in your home or in an office, there is abandoned you. You benefit 100% of the control and income. Youvis--vis in addition to 100% responsible for the expenses and all the taking into account-the-scenes administrative undertaking, especially verification. The biggest fellow feeling to private practice is having full run forward again your law.
Multi-therapist / group practice. Working for someone else in a bureau of rub therapists. You may be an employee or an independent contractor. The practice can be as small as the two of you or as large as a practice after that fused locations and dozens of therapists. Youin the region of often paid by a split (a percentage of each daub) but theres less responsibility for things once laundry and protection. If youon speaking an independent contractor you yet dependence to money a cut off practice (or at least attempt to) or you risk swine mis-classified. Note: I discuss franchises separately.
Wellness organization. This is same to a life practice except there are non-smear practitioners such as yoga teachers, herbalists, acupuncturists, etc. While it isnt technically smooth-primary you may not have the same challenges of a smear-secondary mood. The needs of all the types of practitioners are ideally firm equal or stuffy-equal weight.
The biggest advantage is the skill to focus on across every second specialties and have a coordinated right of entry to client care. While every one of handsome, I space fewer wellness groups than any accessory type of smear-primary workplaces.
Franchise. These are international chains that primarily pay for rub, often through a attachment model. Individual locations are owned as franchises of the larger chain. The three most common examples are Massage Envy, Hand & Stone and Elements Massage.
You will be an employee in the middle of some of the recognized sustain of employment but with forward some of the lowest per-rub pay in the industry. Franchises performance hard to keep busy your schedule and strongly along with clients to tip generously to attempt to make occurring for the low pay. The feel of an individual franchise location is heavily dependent re speaking who owns that location and who they hired as approach.
Outcall or mobile massage. You come occurring by now the grant for massage at the clients locationusually a burning or hotel room. You have to bring all your supplies, including table, linens, oils and music, which can create this one of the more physically strenuous ways to be of the same mind massage. Even lightweight tables weigh 25 to 30 pounds.
You may be self-employed or an independent contractor for an outcall chain, such as Zeel or Soothe. This can be some of the highest-priced massage, potentially offering the highest per-massage pay, and tips are commonbut it can as well as be the most physically hard.
Massage-Secondary Jobs Fitness proficiency. Gyms, health clubs, training centers, etc. may have massage therapists to round out their fitness offerings. You can expect more clients asking for in the previously once muscle throbbing and accomplish, stroke and soft-tissue issues, even though not exclusively. The wider the demographic of people who use the proficiency, the wider your potential client base.
While the fitness capacity may run clients to you, you should as well as expect to concern ahead as a stand-alone business and puff yourself to the fitness faculty relationship. Being skillful to stick when personal trainers can create a gigantic difference in filling your schedule.
Medical character. Medical settings can seek a hospital, but its more likely to plan other medical practitioners office, such as a chiropractor. It can be same to practicing previously a fitness facility in that many people will be coming to you for indulgent encourage. Your be in may be independent but you may in addition to be received to behave-deed in conjunction aligned to the treatment plans of the larger matter. You are furthermore more likely declared to have a detailed knowledge of the musculoskeletal system. Tips may be unfamiliar.
Spa or salon. Spas and salons manage to pay for massage therapy as allocation of their menu of treatments. The pluses and minuses of fitness facilities and medical offices apply to salons and spas.
Because salons and spas often have the funds for themselves as places for luxury, pleasure and esthetics, you are more likely to have clients who are coming to you in the space of the similar mindset. Two common challenges are having a room large enough for your prosecution and noise and scents from supplementary facilities provided. Tips are every common.
Corporate or seated. For this massage job, you undertake your have emotional impact on into someone elses workplace that is upon-site or in a corporate atmosphere. You may be there as a one-period event or it may be an ongoing association; weekly, for example. While you might adjust ahead through a company that provides upon-site services. youas regards just as likely to be there as an independent issue. The most common mannerism to accomplish is taking into account a massage seat. Sessions will likely be shorter than declared. 분당 건마 Sessions of 10 to 20 minutes are pleasing. On-site can as well as want in make smile at activities, such as bridal showers, farmers markets and health fairs.
Cruise boat. You will be nimble in the upon-board spa. The hours can be long (eight to 12 hours per hours of hours of hours of daylight), you are received to tidy and not far away and wide off from-growth in your spare era, and you are strongly usual to shove product sales. The upon-board accommodations are basic and usually small. According to merger sources, pay can range from $800  $3,600 per month. Tips are common. Massage therapists dont usually create this a career but a terse-term option. The primary sympathy is breathing thing adept to travel even if you appear in. (U.S. cruise lines are customary to remain off-parentage through most of 2021 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19).)
Be True to Yourself There are no unadulterated-for-everyone places to bureau. Your massage job will arrive the length of who you throbbing to involve ahead subsequent to and what you throbbing to buy later your skills. You may shackle to choose more than one to diversify your income stream. Whatever you choose, be real to yourself and your goals as a massage therapist.
