Process Management - What Is Process? What Is Process Control Block What Is Concurrent Processes? What Is Process Creation? What Is Process Termination?
Process
A Program In Execution Is Called As Process. A System Can Be Viewed As A Collection Of Processes. Operating System Process Execute System Code And User Processes Execute User Code. A Process Needs Certain Resources Like CPU Time, Memory Files And I/O Devices To Accomplish Its Task. The Operating System Is Responsible For (1) Creation And Deletion Of User And User Processes (2) The Scheduling Of Processes. (2) Provision Of Mechanisms For Synchronisation Communication And Deadlock Handling For Processes.
Process Control Block (PCB)
A PCB (Process Control Block) Is A Data Structure Containing Information Regarding A Specific Process Control Block. Each Process Is Represented In An Operating System By Its Own Process Control Block. This Includes- (a) Process State May Be New, Ready, Running, Waiting Or Halted. (b) Program Counter Indicates The Address Of The Next Instruction To Be Executed For This Process. (c) CPU Registers Include Accumulators, Index Registers, Stack Pointers, And General Purpose Registers. This Information Is Saved When An Interrupt Occurs. (d) CPU Scheduling Information Include Process, Priority, Pointers, For Scheduling Queues Etc.
Concurrent Processes
The Processes In A System Can Execute Concurrently. To Provide Concurrent Execution A Mechanism For Process Creation And Termination Is Required.
What Is Process Creation?
A Process May Create Several New Processes via a Create System Call. The Creating Process Is Called S Parent Process While New Processes Are Called Children Processes. A Parent May Execute Concurrently With Its Children Or It May Wait Until All Its Children Have Terminated.
Process Termination
A Process Terminates When It Finishes Executing Its Last Statement And Asks The Operating System To Delete The Process. A Process Can Also Cause The Termination Of Another Process via a System Call. Usually, Such A System Call Can Be Invoked By Only The Parent Of The Process That Is To Be Terminated.
Relation Between Processes
A Process Executing In The Operating System May Be Either Independent Process Or A Cooperating Process. 1.Independent Process  Such A Process Cannot Affect Or Be Affected By Other Processes Executing In The System. 2.Cooperating Process  Such A Process Can Be Affected Or Can Affect The  Other Processes Executing In The System.
Processor Scheduling
Almost All Computer Resources Are Scheduled Before The CPU Being One Of The Central Resources Also Requires Scheduling.             Read the full article

Here is a good example of a glitchy and corrupt broadcast video. The Max headroom vids would be played during ad break. This effects and style of the video reminds me of the virtual reality game in the 1900s, it also reminds me of the Tron movie.

A quick look into the Pros and Cons of Lucozade
The pros and cons of the brand Lucozade.
Lucozade is a massive brand in the sports drink world with the drink expanding its products to gels, bars, sweets and Lucozade shots. With a wide range of products on the market it covers more of the customers needs and therefore has become extremely popular. Over the past few years they have also brought out the lite version of the Lucozade which many other brands have a followed.
We are looking into existing energy drinks so that we have a good idea of what works for them and what doesn’t. I think the variety of products which they have plays in there favour, with not only the gels and sweets but also Lucozade have still and sparkling drinks, screw top and sports cap and they also provide the full sugar and fat versions and the Lite versions which are proving more and more popular.
With other research we have noticed that the sports drinks are usually aimed at males, Lucozade’s logo design is blue with what looks like a more masculine figure on there. Also on the Lucozade Sports drink continue with the male format by using a blue label on their bottles. When designing our own packaging and logo we need to make sure that the logo isn’t aimed mainly towards one certain sex and make sure that it more appealing to everyone.
Even though the sports versions and the logo are quite masculine, the fizzy Lucozade’s have a range of colours which do add a slightly more feminine touch to them. The range of colours on the bottles also make these drinks stand out more on the shelves of shops and supermarkets which means they are more likely to be chosen over other competitive brands. For our own ideas we have looked at creating a few different drinks for different uses and needs so we could use this idea of the colours to code ours. I think by doing this we will be able to widen our brand but also make each individual drink stand out.
When looking at some of the Lucozade’s advertising campaigns they have used to celebrities to promote the brand and the main celebrity that appears the most is a male which then furthers our thoughts on the brand being quite masculine. Again, when doing our own promotions this is something we shall consider and not only use male models.
We think by looking at the pros and cons of the existing brands we are able to take the positives and show this in our own designs and idea and therefore making Effect a competitive brand in the specific market.

Looking at existing webpages of the most successful energy drinks on the market and seeing how they compare to effect's. Lucozade have used celebs to promote their brands as well as showing that it is not just a sports drink and can be enjoyed any time and anywhere. The websites of Lucozade and other brands such as Red Bull and Powerade will help us design a better campaign for effect. @paigealicethomson

effect energy drinks
Our chosen subject for the new brief. We have chosen this particular brief as paigealicethomson and myself feel we can produce quality work for this and we have ideas for getting a large amount of research, mainly from existing products which are big in the market already but also looking into past designs that have also worked for companies.
 effect
Create a campaign to introduce effect (a new type of energy drink) to UK students.
  Background
The UK energy drinks market needs some creativity. Currently all energy brands sound, taste and look the same. Made with taurine and caffeine, marketed with extreme sports, the energy drink brands target male teenagers promising them a short-term energy boost. Whilst energy brands target the same consumers with similar messages, the reality is that energy drinks aren’t exclusively drunk by male teenagers during extreme sports. In fact 40% of energy consumers are female and 75% are over 20 years old. More people than ever before are choosing energy drinks to stay alert for longer and get a little bit extra out of their busy day. Whether they are at work, studying, driving or even socialising, energy drinks provide stimulation for mind and body.  We want to create a new brand, a new type of energy drink that focuses on mental rather than physical energy. Help us be different, be creative and inspire.
  The Brand
effect has a unique recipe with taurine, caffeine and five B vitamins to stimulate mind, mood and memory.
effect comes in stylish 330ml cans which don't conform to energy drink norms.
effect is a major success in Europe (it is Germany's #2 energy drink brand)
effect is the mental energizer with a passion for creativity
effect is unique
  The Creative Challenge
We would like you to create a campaign for a different type of energy drink. What better way to launch a new energy drink focused on mental stimulation than with students? We want to introduce the drink in a creative, stimulating way which will help us swim against the tide. The best idea will feature in our student launch activity in Autumn 2014.
  Mandatories
The following assets must be used, and can be found in the project pack.
the effect logo
a pack shot of the can
the "mental energizer" tagline (with pulse)
Considerations
Remember the best ideas are those that grab attention, we all live busy lives and you’ve got to be noticed, be relevant and inspire. We’re also keen on big ideas rather than one-off executions.
You're on the right track if your ideas are:
loved by fellow students
grab attention
get people thinking

Evaluation
For Process of Communication we was given a choice of briefs from YCN’s competition, the brief I decided to work on is the end is Syfy UK. Syfy is a TV channel, the name of the channel speaks for its self as its based on sci-fi programs. The aim is to encourage and persuade sci-fi fans to come a watch and engage in their channel.
First I researched their channel, and then listed all the obvious ideas which I could think of straight away, but all these idea where common and has been done a lot so I had too look at other ideas which I could implicate to this brief. I also researched other channels to see if there could give me a idea how they would get the audience attention but there wasn’t any as most channel gets the audience attention by the program they show on the channel. I then had a look at how brands create loyalty and fan base to see whether I could any other ways to encourage and persuade the audience to engage in the channel.
As I had to encourage sci-fi fans watch and engage in the channel, I decided to have a look at some campaign, which actually does this kind of job. In the end I found a lot of alternate reality game (ARG) campaigns which is a combination of the virtual and reality world, this would allow the brand and audience engage and interactive with each other solving puzzles and problem to discover exclusive and secret material.
I then decided I wanted to create an ARG scavenger hunt in a glitch or hack theme, this would work by the channel going offline and showing instructions to the website which would cause suspicion as to what is happening to the channel, this would then lead to the website where they would get more instructions and clues for there next task which is to collect series of codes via posters, websites, newspaper and TV etc which they would enter on the website to unlock prices and rewards. The problem with this is there area too many stages which could put off the audience as it would be too much effort to collect them all unless the prices was big which would tempt them to do it but in the end it would be too complicated and complex, I would need to try and simplify the idea for it to work better.
So I then had a look at other competition, which was a lot less complicated and complex than mine, and see if I could implicate that to my scavenger hunt. So I then decided to only have the code on broadcast video which would be like a emergency broadcast which would appear on other TV channel on ad break, during a program or the credits of the program. The broadcast video would contain the code. The problem with this idea is the channel is engaging and interacting with the audience but they aren’t interacting back.
This idea started to become a lot more difficult to figure out and solve so I decide to change the idea. I then had a lot at another way most TV shows would do the get the viewers engaging with their channel, they would do this by giving the audience a question which they would need to call up and answer and this would also enter them into a competition to win a prize. The question would be so easy that anyone at any age could answer it. I then had a look at a game called wealthy walrus, which is a trivia game app which ask a question which involves a lot of money but with consequences and the answer would always be yes or no.
I then thought maybe I could do something similar by using the phase like ‘could you imagine…’ or ‘imagine if you could…’, the key word would be imagine as this is used in their strapline, these question would be linked and related to sci-fi. Instead giving answers on an app or website they would answer on social networks instead as this could trend and become a worldwide thing.
Then I had to come up with an idea for the website cause before it just contained the prize and a place where you would need to enter the code. I then had a thought maybe I could use the webcam on the computer or phone which would add a filter over your face and sync with in so it actually make you look like something else, so I then researched app which does something similar such as photo booth which distorts your face, aging app which make you look older and fat app which make you look fat.
In the end I have created a series of posters, which contains the question, this will be used on the posters, broadcast video and banner I have created. I have carried on using the glitch theme as it gives off that hacking, virus or even alien interference feel to it as this could be very scary, mysterious and suspicious to the audience which would definitely draw the audience attention.
A example of the question used in one of the poster is ‘Imagine yourself as a alien on earth, what would you do?’ This would then allow the audience to answer and discuss the question with the # via the social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. This would allow the audience to engage and interactive with the channel and also to other people around the world as this could trend all over the world.
The social network will then advertise the website which would allow the user to become the sci-fi creature, such as an alien, zombie and cyborg via the webcam or photo. They would also screenshot themselves as the sci-fi creature and share them on social networks to persuade other people to get involved and to participate in the campaign.
Overall I am happy with the results I have produced, if I had more time I would have like to developed the idea through more, mainly the website and the webcam idea as that is the part I spend less time on. I would say my downfall on this project was spending too much time on figuring out ways to simplify the idea of the scavenger hunt and in the end it still didn’t work out.

Here is my final website and also mocked up. The first step is to choose the sci-fi creature through the drop down menu on the question, then selecting whether to use the webcam or upload a photo to add the filter to yourself. Once you turn into the sic-fi creature you can then click the screenshot button to save the image of yourself and the sci-fi creature or click the share the post via the social network. A ad will also pop up letting the user know there is a program thats linked to the sci-fi creature they have selected on their channel to watch.

Here are the poster I’ve created, I’ve carry on using the glitchy theme as i find this gives off that hacking, virus or even alieninterference feel to it as this could be very scary, mysterious and suspicious to the audience which would definitely draw the audience attention.
I have played around with the layout, colour and type. I was difficult to pick the colour of the type as the glitched imaged on the background would make it difficult for they type to be seen on some of the poster as the colour of the background would be different on each poster, this would mean it wouldn't be consistent if I changed the colour for each poster, so to solve the problem I added a box underwear as this would highlight the type making it more visible to the audience. The box would still fit in as it rectangular like the glitch out pixels on the poster.
The # will all be different for each poster as this would link to different sections and discussions of the topic and question.

Instead of having a puzzle on the website, maybe I could use the webcam feature on the audience computer or even phone and turn them in a sci fi creature, this would sync with their body or face, they could maybe sound like them to.
The two apps above is called ageing booth and fat booth. The ageing app will make you look old which gives the user a picture of what they could look like if they were old. The fat app basically does the same but turn you fat instead.

One way I could interact with the audience is to ask them a question. Most TV channels would have a competition question which they would who answer corrected to have a chance to win.
The two games above is called wealthy walrus and card against humanity. Wealthy walrus will ask question that offer big amount money to you but it would have consequences, the answers will always be yes or no. Cards against humanity is filling the gaps of the question with the cards you have, this could create some weird and funny sentences.
I could maybe create a series of imagine if or could you imagine questions which the audience could answer with hashtags via social networks, this would get trended worldwide.
