Having a mission and vision

Decision making is never easy. Especially when you are a multinational NGO working in more than one country, speaking more than one language. Our NGO had to deal with changes in staff and leadership positions and this caused people to leave and new people coming.

The TKG has now been active for many years and had to undergo alot of changes throughout the way. Old statements e.g. on the website are still around causing confusion about what we are actually doing. In addition to that no mission or vision statement had been constructed.

Not having a set vision and mission statement is causing many problems.

For example writing to another NGO or to apply for funding requires a detailed description about what we are doing. Every person needed to make up their own mission statement in every process of a new application. With time passing and people coming and going this process made things complicated. People working in the office in germany, who had never seen the actual projectsite did not know what we really did and for whom.

Some of the statements on the web or in old publications where simply not true anymore. Which is of course okay: change is happening all the time. But it needs to be updated every once in a while.

To fix this problem we conducted a meeting to develop a mission and a vision statement to make sure things like this are not happen again.

Komst groot zonnepark in Middelburg definitief

GroenLeven uit Heerenveen gaat aan de Torenweg, naast Woonboulevard de Mortiere, een zonnepark bouwen. Het definitieve besluit om het park te realiseren is het gevolg van het feit dat de Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland (RVO) eind december heeft besloten een subsidie SDE (Stimulering Duurzame Energieproductie) toe te kennen.

De locatie is eigendom van de gemeente Middelburg en is al langer in beeld voor de aanleg van een zonneweide. De omgevingsvergunning voor de locatie is al eerder verleend, maar nu de subsidie is toegekend wordt de uitvoering van de plannen mogelijk. De gemeente gaat de gronden verhuren aan GroenLeven. Het realiseren van een dergelijk zonnepark is een belangrijke stap om de doelstelling van Middelburg energieneutraal in 2050 te behalen.

Het terrein waar het zonnepark komt is ruim 14 hectare groot. Een aanzienlijk deel hiervan wordt gebruikt voor een verantwoorde landschappelijke inpassing. Zo zullen bijvoorbeeld de waterpoelen aan de zuidzijde in stand worden gehouden. Op die manier worden vogels en andere dieren niet gehinderd.

Het zonnepark biedt ruimte voor de plaatsing van circa 55.000 zonnepanelen in een oost-west opstelling. Deze hebben een totaal vermogen van ruim 14 MW. Hiermee kunnen bijna 4500 huishoudens van elektriciteit worden voorzien.

Volgende maand starten de voorbereidende werkzaamheden. De voorlopige planning is er op gericht om na de zomervakantie te starten met de bouw. De voortgang van de planning zal binnenkort te volgen zijn op een speciale projectsite van groenleven.nl.

Een gedeelte van het park wordt beschikbaar gesteld aan burgers. Zij worden in de gelegenheid gesteld om te participeren in zonne-energie via een postcoderoosregeling. Hoe dat in zijn werk gaat wordt op een later tijdstip via deze website bekendgemaakt.
