I’m going to miss these two incredible musicals so much. Today is the beginning of closings due to Broadway’s summer slump, and personally, these were 2 of my favorites this season. So much heart and soul went into creating these shows and making sure they spread their message. They did what musicals are SUPPOSED to do and transported you to another world for a little while. (Thanks for that, @bobmartin9000 😉) A world where representation was key, love came before first, and the leading role wasn’t your typical ingenue. Thank you to everyone involved in making @theprommusical and @bemorechillmusical a reality on Broadway so that they have secured their place in theatre history for years to come. The circle of life must continue so new shows can come in and these can move on and have a bigger life...tours, movies, school productions, and beyond. I’ll continue to love these shows forever. You're damn right I bought a bright yellow shirt that says "WE'RE ALL LESBIANS" in big sparkly black letters across the front with "The Prom" and #PromForEveryone on the back. Also YES I live in Deep East Texas and HELL YES I'm gonna wear it every chance I get.

I would like to apologize to the person who sat at the same spot in the airport after me because I probably left some tears on the table. 2 days back in NYC wasn't enough but I had a blast. The reason for my tears, though? I can't believe I finally got to see The Prom after being in love with it since it was still running in Atlanta. And sadly it is closing its Broadway run on the 11th, way too soon! The next time I'm in NYC, it won't be there. But I'm so blessed to have been able to see it, and with the original Broadway cast. It was beyond anything I could have hoped for. The show has so much humor and heart, the music/dancing/sets/etc were phenomenal, the cast was on fire, and the theatre was packed and enthusiastic. But aside from all that, it has a message that everyone should hear. I wish I had this show when I was a little gay kid. Seeing kids and teenagers and older people all there experiencing this message of love and tolerance really got to me. And the fact that it will be touring in the next couple of years so that more people can hear that message, AND a movie is being made about it... just beautiful. I didn't get to meet the cast at the stage door cuz most of them didn't come out that way but tbh I would be beat after a 2 show day too so I don't blame them. (Plus Caitlin has anxiety which MOOD.) I got a poster and a shirt, and I'll always have those memories to cherish too. I'm filled with so many emotions that I'm honestly considering making a video about the experience and asking some of my Tumblr/Discord buddies to contribute as a sort of farewell to the show.
