#PromiseToGoodness, from the moment my husband was first assigned to work with this organization last year, I was intrigued by what they had going on. Especially, since I had never heard of a BIG (Blacks in Government) before. It didn't take long for me to do the research and decide I wanted to be a part and became a member. Regardless, to the fact that neither me or my husband are and have never been Federal employee's or served in the military, which is who BIG is ultimately designed for. Truth be told, one of my greatest challenges in life has been getting in where I genuinely fit in and can truly be myself, without anyone feeling intimidated or taken aback by who I am, naturally. Now, after two years, BIG has become like family and some of the most dedicated, smart and hard working black people I have ever been wholeheartedly embraced by. I can only appreciate and can't say enough about the speakers, who spend their own money, just to travel, accommodate themselves and teach others how to live better, do better, be better, and make some real money. You know, my daughters have always been ahead of their time & #Ahead of the game. They made this video, in 2006, while I was at work, they broke in a locked room, they weren't supposed to be in. #SnackTimeAndLunch, yeahhh, my new #PotsAndPans just came in! I knew that first set I had was temporary and would only last for so long, but it was just enough to get by and bye. When you have to start somewhere, gotta love a good starter set. If you've ever started fresh, from scratch, what is something that was necessary for you to start over with versus what you realized you could live without? A lot of people find it hard to let go of people, places, or things that they've been accustomed to and grow attached to. Ironically, customs vary by culture and what may be necessary for you or what you just have to have may not be the same for someone else. #Trust & #Believe, the way I've grown up & continue to grow, not many of my own race, males or females, have been able to stand being around me. Especially, while I'm comfortable in the skin I've always been, but for whatever reason or another, not everyone has been comfortable, around me. Ironically, one of my great friends & I were just talking about this the other day. About a time when I attended a barbecue with her & some of her female friends. I was cordial, didn't say much at all, wasn't acting funny, but enjoyed myself, ate, drank, & even smoked some weed with them. #NeverTheLess, later my friend told me that the females asked her to never bring me when she comes to hang out with them. I simply lol, fully aware "I" didn't do anything wrong to them, #ButGod, this Spirit that lives on the inside of me, #WoManListen, I don't quench. I'm just glad real eyes recognize & #Blessed for the few friends, who have never made themselves indifferent towards me, but are just as different themselves, with me. #OnAnotherNote, in the wake of the missing #AfricanAmerican #Women, all around the world, I'm glad to be made aware that some of them have been found. Even still, many are still missing & as a Mother of four daughters, my heart continues to go out to the families & my prayers are wth all those in search of them. I don't know what I would do if they were the ones I gave birth to, but in a sense, they are. It's amazing to me that it took for a few #Celebraties to bring this worldwide issue to life. That just goes to show how much of an #InfluentialPower those in the spotlight have & how "fame" can be used to bring light to things that really matter. It is more than a notion, to #DoMore, to #BeMore. What I've learned the most about these #MissingBlackGirls are the cold, hard facts & the undeniable truth, this is an #Epidemic that is happening to #Females of every age, race, & color. Whoever does this, is truly no respector of persons & has no regard for "human" life. One life missing is too many lives missing & the numbers are in the thousands. As a #BlackWoman, what this says to me is, females, in general, are worth more than some can't stand themselves enough to admit. Ironically, a lot of females find themselves hard to value, for whatever reason, in every form & fashion. #PromiseToGoodness, too many people like to play with other peoples lives & live, while they die a slow death, like life is a joke.
