Benefits Of Studying In Germany
Germany evolved as a powerful economy post-World War I; this spirit did not remain limited to the economy but also extended to the education sector, benefiting the nation’s youth. There is a famous saying: "A wise man changes his mind sometimes, but a fool never." The German government, being on the wisest side, introduced new policies and amendments to its education system. As a result of these steps, Germany opened its heart and door to international students looking to study abroad, offering them not just a strong economy but also a rich culture and a world-class education system structured in such a way that it attracted students of all categories, specifically those who are meritorious but lack a competitive monetary background. From its historic cities to its cutting-edge research institutions, Germany offers a unique mixture of academic excellence, cultural diversity, and the vital one, i.e., career opportunities. In this blog, we will deeply explore the different reasons why studying in Germany is an excellent choice for international students.
Tumblr media
High-Quality Education: Germany is known for going into the details of things and is home to some of the world's oldest and most prestigious universities, known for their academic diligence and innovative research. Institutions such as Heidelberg University, the Technical University of Munich, and Humboldt University of Berlin persistently rank among the top global universities. German degrees are recognized worldwide, providing graduates with a competitive edge in the global job market.
Diverse Range of Programs: Irrespective of the course you're interested in, Germany provides you with ample options like engineering, business, medicine, or the arts. Germany offers a diverse range of programs to suit the academic interests of its students. From bachelor's to doctoral degrees, students can choose from an enriched array of disciplines taught in English and German, making it easier to cater to both international and local students.
Tuition-Free or Low Tuition Fees: One of the most significant advantages of studying in Germany is the low cost of tuition fees compared to other study destinations. Many public universities in Germany are highly in demand because of the tuition-free education offered by them for international students, except for a nominal semester fee. Even if we consider the programs with tuition fees, the costs are considerably lower than those in competitor countries like the United States or the UK.
Scholarships and Funding Opportunities: To further support international students, Germany offers fully funded scholarships like the DAAD scholarship, Heinrich Boll Scholarships for International Students, Frankfurt School of Finance and Management Doctoral Tuition Waivers, and many other scholarships and funding opportunities to cover living expenses, research projects, and tuition fees. Enabling them to pursue their studies without financial burden.
Strong Economy and Career Prospects: Germany boasts Europe's largest economy and is a hub for innovation, technology, and industry. With a robust job market and a high demand for skilled professionals, studying in Germany opens up a plethora of career opportunities for international students. The country's emphasis on practical, hands-on learning through internships and cooperative education programs enhances students' employability and prepares them for successful careers.
Vigorous Cultural Scene: Beyond its academic offerings, Germany's rich cultural heritage and vibrant arts scene provide international students with a unique cultural experience. From exploring historic landmarks to attending world-class museums, theatres, and music festivals, students have ample opportunities to immerse themselves in German culture and broaden their horizons.
Safe and friendly environment: Germany is known for its safety, stability, and welcoming atmosphere towards international students. The country's efficient public transportation system, well-maintained infrastructure, and high quality of life make it an ideal destination for studying and living abroad. Additionally, the diverse student population ensures a supportive community for international students to thrive and connect with peers from around the world.
Gateway to Europe: Situated in the heart of Europe, Germany serves as a gateway to explore the continent's diverse cultures and landscapes. With its central location and excellent transportation networks, students can easily travel to neighboring countries during breaks or weekends, enriching their cultural experiences and expanding their global perspectives.
Conclusion Studying in Germany offers international students a unique opportunity to receive a high-quality education, immerse themselves in a vibrant cultural environment, and access promising career prospects in Europe's largest economy. With its renowned universities, affordable tuition fees, diverse programs, and welcoming atmosphere, Germany continues to attract students from all corners of the globe, making it an excellent choice for pursuing academic and personal growth. Whether you're drawn to its academic excellence, cultural richness, or career opportunities, studying in Germany promises to be a rewarding and transformative experience for international students.

How to Foster Youth Empowerment through Community Service
Tumblr media
The first and foundational step to foster youth empowerment through community service should be to adopt a strengths-based approach. Instead of immediately delving into the challenges a young person might face, a more proactive and positive approach should be taken.
The process can start with asking families questions to identify what an individual is good at. This question highlights the youth's strengths and sets the tone for a collaborative effort. Thus, by addressing the positives from the outset, a strengths-based practice is established, creating a framework rooted in the inherent capabilities of the young person.
The practitioners in a community should actively engage with the entire family, delving into their history and experiences. This comprehensive understanding allows for tailored support, acknowledging the unique needs and circumstances of the youth. It's not about viewing young people as problems to be fixed but recognizing them as valuable and vital assets within the community. It is the work of the practitioners in community service programs to see untapped potential in these individuals, considering them as real resources waiting to be harnessed.
The commitment to empowerment should not end with positive affirmations. It should involve a hands-on approach in times of difficulty. For example, if something goes wrong during a program, the team should coordinate with the school, involve the family, and, most importantly, give the young person a voice. The emphasis should be on providing open communication and collaboration to avoid a top-down approach where solutions are imposed externally. The objective is also to build a support system and foundational structure around the young person, creating an environment that fosters growth and resilience.
A shift in mindset in running community service programs is crucial. Rather than treating young people as passive recipients of programs, the focus should be on cultivating leadership skills and promoting active involvement. Thus, recognizing the link between leadership and employability, efforts should be made to empower young people beyond merely participating in programs. This involves providing opportunities for public speaking, involvement in conference panels, and active engagement in the planning of programs. Offering such experiences will instill a sense of responsibility and ownership, breaking away from traditional program models.
An integral aspect of youth empowerment programs should be acknowledging personal limitations. Practitioners in these programs should highlight the importance of stepping back from traditional program structures and embracing diverse, skill-based approaches. For example, where they lack expertise, such as in arts-based projects or music programs, the practitioners can challenge young people to take the lead. This dynamic encourages the participants to explore their capabilities and serves as a significant learning curve for the professionals involved. It's also about recognizing and appreciating what one cannot do and allowing others to step up.
The ultimate goal of community service programs should be to empower young people to become leaders in their own right. Furthermore, in community programs for youth, appropriate structure involves establishing clear and consistent examples and standards, setting regulations, and being clear about what is expected of young people. Practitioners in community service programs should note that every conversation and every piece of advice shared in these community programs should be an opportunity to envision and pursue their dreams.

THE FIRST PART LAST
Tumblr media
[Cover art for The First Part Last]. (n.d.). Retrieved March 7, 2023, from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_First_Part_Last
"No, I don’t know anything about raising a kid. I’m sixteen and none of those people on the wall look like the kind of family me and Feather’s gonna be. But I’m doing it.”
The First Part Last by Angela Johnson follows 16-year-old Bobby as he navigates life as a teenage father. Bobby is faced with many tough decisions and has to worry about himself and his newborn daughter, Feather.
The First Part Last offers many different topics that are discussed today but from very different perspectives. Teen pregnancy novels, more often than not, follow a pregnant female protagonist and avoid the nitty-gritty details of pregnancy other than morning sickness, lack of sleep, and swollen ankles. Angela Johnson pushes the boundaries by not only flipping this role around completely but also disclosing some of the horrific truths and possibilities of childbirth. I believe teens would quickly pick up this novel and relate to it. While it’s no secret that teens are sexual beings, this novel does a magnificent job describing the realities of what being sexually active means. Johnson does a fantastic job of creating a story that spells out the need to discuss safe sex with teens and that they are stronger than society has deemed them. I give this novel a 10/10 and recommend it to anyone who wants to partake in this emotional rollercoaster! I will also be reading the other two books in the series, which are Heaven and Sweet, Hereafter.

Physiotherapy in Sydney
Physiotherapy is a medical profession that helps people with physical impairments recover faster and live better lives. Physiotherapists assess and treat patients to restore normal movement patterns, and promote the patient's involvement in the treatment process. Treatment methods used by physiotherapists in Sydney include mobilisation, manipulation, stretching, and massage. Physiotherapists also work closely with medical professionals to address the causes of injuries and chronic conditions. Anyone can benefit from physiotherapy in Sydney.
One of the most popular physiotherapy clinics in Sydney is Austral New Age Physiotherapy. The physiotherapist and clinic owner, Nestor Chan, is professionally qualified and the proud founder of Austral New Age Physiotherapy. He is passionate about improving the lives of his patients and has worked with the public for over ten years. His special interests include shoulder and back pain. He has worked for youth premier league soccer teams as a Team Physiotherapist.
Another type of physiotherapy is in-home therapy. This option allows patients to receive care in the privacy of their home, avoiding the distractions of a busy workplace. Additionally, patients do not have to worry about finding parking or accessing the clinic. A physiotherapist will come to their home to provide therapy and will bring any necessary documents. If you have a disability or are looking for a highly individualized approach to treatment, in-home therapy is a great option.
One of the most sought-after types of physiotherapy in Sydney is sports injury treatment. Sydney Sports & Orthopaedic Physiotherapy opened in 2007 and has since grown into a large company called Sydney Physiotherapy Solutions. They now have two state-of-the-art clinics in the city's CBD, an expert clinical pilates studio, and twelve physiotherapists. They pride themselves on going the extra mile to treat their clients and make their recovery as quick as possible.
Graduates of physiotherapy degree programs in Sydney are highly sought-after, and many of the courses are practice-based. The Graduate School of Health offers a range of masters-level courses, resulting in registration and high-impact research excellence. A highly regarded course in physiotherapy, the UTS Master of Physiotherapy, is a practical course created by industry professionals and academics. Students from UTS can apply for this masters program.
Sports physiotherapy is a crucial part of recovery from injuries in sport. Acute injuries are the result of a sudden impact, whereas chronic injuries develop as a result of overuse of a particular joint or muscle. By addressing these injuries in a timely manner, physiotherapy can restore range of motion, strength, and mobility. Physiotherapy can help athletes return to competition levels faster and with less pain.
The staff at the Optimal Health Chiropractic Clinic are friendly and professional. They utilize an array of medical technology to diagnose and treat the injury in the most effective way. Patients can even book their appointments online for same-day treatment. The clinic offers many convenient hours to fit your busy schedule. It is recommended to make an appointment for a treatment at a clinic with a high level of experience and accreditation. Once you've received a consultation, the physiotherapists will provide a treatment plan that meets your needs.
A master's degree in physiotherapy will lead to registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia. It is possible to gain accreditation in this field, and some research master's programs offer basic funding if you study them full-time. A master's degree in physiotherapy typically requires an undergraduate degree in the health sciences with a GPA of at least 5 and a background check. The program is designed to prepare graduates for employment in the field.
Physiotherapy has many benefits. It can help prevent or manage the symptoms of injuries and allow patients to return to everyday activities. It can help individuals prevent further injuries by helping them avoid injuries in the first place. Additionally, it can help people cope with chronic pain and manage symptoms. Oftentimes, the physiotherapist can develop a treatment plan that allows them to continue playing their sport without the risk of further injury.

Defund the Police.
Important to note that many organizations use defunding the police as a step within the process of police abolition rather than just defunding, which we will discuss later. We leave it up to you to decide whether you think simply defunding or abolition will work best.
[ID: All slides except Slide 7 have text layered on top of a notebook as a background with light brown wood behind the notebook and a black pen sitting beside the notebook, to allude to the pen writing the text. In smaller black text, “@mengwe” is written at the bottom.
Slide 1: Black text on top of the notebook reads in large lettering, “Defund the Police.”
Slide 2: Black text on top of the notebook reads, “What Does ‘Defend the Police’ Mean? It means reducing police budgets and reallocating those funds to social services like education, healthcare, housing, youth services, and other programs and resources that communities need.”
Slide 3: Black text on top of the notebook reads, “When we say, ‘Defund the police,’ we are not saying ‘Get rid of police.’ We are saying that the police are overfunded. The NYPD’s budget is $5.6 billion dollars. That is more than NYC spends on the department of health, homeless services, housing preservation/development, and youth and community development combined! The LAPD increased their police budget ($2 billion dollars) this past year while simultaneously cutting the pay of 2.5 thousand civilian workers. Do you see the problem here?”
Slide 4: “Why Do We Need to Defund the Police? Government budgets and ‘public safety’ spending should prioritize housing, employment, healthcare, education, and other vital programs and resources that communities need. Funding these social services will help crime rates go down and provide communities with the resources and services they need to thrive. People with substance abuse problems, mental and/or emotional health issues should not be sent to the police. They should be sent to professionals who specialize in that field so that they can get the help that they need and have access to resources to learn how to handle their problems in a healthy and safe way.”
Slide 5: “Just so you know, the people saying ‘We can’t defund the police’ have: defunded education, defunded environmental protections, defunded healthcare, defunded state and national parks, defunded food safety, defunded the sciences, defunded the arts.”
Slide 6: “Some Facts:
“Los Angeles’s proposed police budget for 2021 is $1.8 billion, which is more than half of the city’s total spending for the year.
“The cost of policing in the US tripled from $42.3 billion in 1977 to $114.5 billion in 2017.
“In 2017, Baltimore set aside $480 million dollars for its police department while its public schools got $265 million.
“The US spends around $80 billion each year on incarceration.”
Slide 7: A white background with black bold lettering that reads “How Much Do U.S. Cities Spend On Policing?” from the site Statista. Underneath, “Total police budget and share of selected cities’ general fund expenditure in 2020.” Underneath this a bar graph representing total police spending and percentage of general fund expenditure. New York City leads with $5.61b in police spending, 7.7% of general fund expenditure. Then Los Angeles at $1.73b and 25.5%, Chicago at 1.68b and 37.0%, Houston at $934.0m and 33.1%, Baltimore at $536.4m and 26.4%, Detroit at $330.0m and 29.9%, and Atlanta at $248.5m  and 30.3%. Lastly is Minneapolis at $163.2m of total police spending and 35.8% of general fund expenditure. One asterisk is next to the words General Fund Expenditure which leads to the bottom, “General fund is used to support city services like police, fire and parks, as well as planning, community development and administrative support services.” Two more asterisks are next to Minneapolis, leading to the bottom, “Latest Minneapolis data is from 2017. Sources: The Center for Popular Democracy, Law for Black Lives, Black Youth Project 100
Slide 8: Back to the black text on top of the picture of a notebook. “Effects of Defunding the Police: Replacing some police officers with trained social workers and special response teams. If someone calls 911 to report a drug overdose, a healthcare team can handle the situation. If someone calls 911 about homeless people, social workers can provide them with housing support and other resources. In addition, many people will have access to resources like shelters, job programs, affordable housing, addiction trained nurses, recovery counselors, trauma informed school counselors, and more.” The word “some” is highlighted in red.
Slide 9: “How to Defund the Police,” written in black text at the top. Written in red text underneath, “Email/Call city council members and mayors and demand a reallocation of city budgets.” In black text again, “Go to: https://defund.12.org for email templates addressed to all of your city’s elected officials. ***Brooklyn council member Justin Brennan posted a video on Twitter scrolling through page after page of emails all demanding the same thing: Defund the Police. ‘Every Council member’s inbox for the past 3 days. The people have spoken,’ he said.” In red text, “EMAILS WORK!!!”
Slide 10: “What to Read to Learn More
“What Would It Mean to Defund the Police? These Cities Offer Ideas - Jon Schuppe
“It’s Time to Reimagine Safety and Security in Our Communities - Jennifer Epps-Addison
“This Is What People Mean When They Say They Want to Defund the Police - Nicole Goodkind
“What Exactly Does It Mean to Defund the Police? - Amanda Arnold
“While Crime Fell, the Cost of Cops Soared - Polly Mosends and Jameelah D Robinson
“There’s A Growing Call to Defund the Police. Here’s What It Means - Scottie Andrew”
End ID.]
